A new post on #artistsupportingartist , a serie of posts I have committed myself to in which I aim to support other artists by talking about their work! This abstract artwork is made by @catherinewhart I really can't tell too much about her and her work, except that she seems to live in Jersey (at least a lot of her art is tagged to have been posted from there), and that she makes art on a lot of different scales. She is into murals as well as A4-sized drawings and they all look as they are made with the same ease of mindless-but-connected doodling. That's one of the reasons I admire her art. And the second reason would be that a he is so totally able to make a coherent piece without using any figurative motives! Like: the composition "sits" right, the colors combine perfectly and the textures of the flat spaces versus the textures of the lines, scrabbles and dots make my eyes go round and round and deeper and deeper into the image! And have you seen those flawless outlines? Ooh, those black outlines! ..... 😍 I am such a sucker for outlines!!! (Did I mention that already a million times before? Ups, sorry!) .... #SUPPORTARTISTS @Regrann from @catherinewhart - I need to loosen up. In all categories really. But I tend to push my drawings until my need to control the smallest of details is satisfied within. This is a drawing that is large in scale (3 ft x 3 ft) and has sat "unfinished" for over two years because I was considering it just the background without my detailing. I just saw it through new eyes and I'm going to declare it complete as an "ode" to letting go of perfectionism in 2017. Starting this upcoming week, I will create a series of small works that will be an exercise in letting go and loosening up. . .
