Saw a pre-screening of Transformers One with my brother last night! It was a fun time. The theater was full of Transformers nerds, which is always a fun vibe (had the same experience with HTTYD 3 and the two BNHA movies I saw in theaters). It was really nice to look at, the action was fun, and it avoided the issues I've had with other TF movies in the past: overcomplicated character designs (these were nice and shape-y with enough detail to be satisfying), too many humans not enough robots (this movie only has robots), and flat characters (they all have personality here and play off each other well). Dialogue fell into the "uh, he's right behind us, isn't he" or "well, THAT just happened" trap a little more than I would've liked, but not enough to ruin the experience if you know it's like that beforehand. I also thought the two main character arcs didn't quite stick the landing, but I see where they were going, and I appreciate that they were there.

Overall, in terms of animated movies, it's not a masterpiece, but it's pretty good and worth a watch if you like action or are interested in Transformers. In terms of Transformers movies, it's really good.
