The cats’ names are a mix of Spanish and welsh/gaelic cuz Javier and Kieran trade off naming each on and they’ve DEFINITELY disagreed on what to name some of the rescues. Pepita was their first cat and she’s also the oldest she’s a long haired orange tabby and is all grizzled and scarred but she has the LOUDEST purr and is extremely cuddly and fluffy and like. Half Maine coone she she’s also a BIG BABY

tbh i would have taken modern!kieran to name his pets simple and silly names but pretty welsh/gaelic is way better ... usually they take turns but sometimes there's one that they pick favs on and it disrupts the whole system. idk any words in any other language so ... forgive my lack of suggestions on that front kwndkwndejdn

pepita originally stayed at javier's house before they moved into the big one, but she saw kieran so often it didn't make much of a difference. he used to come over after work while javier was working late, sit with pepita in his lap, and he'd just taaalk to her, talk talk talk. cuz she perks her ears up and meows when there's a pause and acts like she rlly gets what he's saying. javier walks in late one night and hears from the other room, "-and i was like, obviously that isn't gonna work, she doesn't like the turkey flavoured treats, she likes the pumpkin oatmeal ones, so dumb idea, yknow ?" "mrrow" "RIGHT, but they haaad to ignore me so it took ALL day to give her the shot- OH JAVIER WHEN DID U GET HOME !!!!" and javier will never forget it

Aaaaa ok Javier breaks a leg or smth and has to be on bed rest for like a month and he’s SO BORED he lets Kieran teach him how to knit and ends up making an ENTIRE quilt and sweaters for all their cats

YA ..... javier "i do my own stunts" escuella would 400% go out and literally 'break a leg'

once diagnosed w 'leg machine broke' syndrome, he calls kieran at like 11:45pm and goes through the whole, "hey baby-- yes everything's alright- i'm at the hospital- yes i'm the one in the hospital. ive been here for a little while. everything is okay i just- well i broke my leg. yeah screwed up a stunt. yeah i'm alright i can barely feel it anymore. okay-- okay, i'll see you in a little bit. love you too, bye."

one week into his government issued bed prison instatement, javier feels like he's going crazy; there's only so much social media that even he can absorb. more hours than not, kieran is out tending to the animals or cleaning or something or other, peeking in every so often to make sure javier is doing as he's told (he's caught him trying to hobble out of bed by himself before, pulled an "i'm not mad just disappointed" and javier skulked back into bed like a chastised pup). though during his free time, he'll sit contently next to his bf in bed and knit. usually they either sit in comfortable silence, or just talk abt random topics, but every now and then javier'll ask abt what kieran's knitting/how he's doing it/if it's as easy or boring as it looks, and kieran excitedly answers, rarely looking up from his needles.

soon enough, javier's got his own set of needles and is watching intently as kieran demonstrates how to fold the yarn and where to twist to ensure it'll come out looking how u want it to. now ... javier is a very fast learner, has it down almost completely in the first day, and all he basically does since then is knit. cat sweaters, kieran sweaters, charles and arthur sweaters, quilts, his whole bedside floor is covered soon enough and kieran couldn't be prouder.

i LOVE modern aus literally id die for them ok so basically

javier ... got rich alright he's a fairly successful actor (a lot of folks hire him to 'diversify' the cast but he's also just a damn good actor)

plus does music on the side

so of course, he buys a big ol' house in BFE w a bunch of land, transitions his preexisting cats into it (and his horse (cuz he has a horse, kieran keeps it at his house w his horse so they can hang)), and SOMEHOW convinces kieran to quit his depressing inner city job at the humane society and move out there w him

"plz baby there's so much room it'd be lonely without u" "u mentioned before you'd like to live together" "the cats like u !!!!!!" "the cats !!!!!!!"

javier is just too good at sweet-talking and the cats are just too enticing

so they get settled, horses in the barn and pasture, their 4 cats all seated on their newfound favourite spots in the house, and kieran ends up finding himself as a full-on housewife

since he quit his job, he hasn't been able to find one close enough to the house where he can drive back and forth without having to wake HOURS before and get home HOURS late

so he stays at home, tending to the animals and house, scrolling through his phone and fighting folks that complain abt javier on twitter

he's a little worried that javier will think he's taking advantage of him/his money and will kick him out, but javier LOVES coming home to kieran and constantly seeing him !!! especially when he comes home from filming a long, stressful movie and kieran has dinner ready for him, javier will pepper his bf w kisses and adoration

and javier ALWAYS ends up finding stray cats anywhere he goes, so he'll come home after filming a movie or singing a song or any of the other wacky things celebrities do, with an armful of cats

eventually, after a few house extensions and catio buildings, they have to hire some help. kieran was a little embarrassed, but considering he'd kept it pretty organized up to like 40 cats, he wasn't asking for much

kieran's like ... "this may be getting a little out of hand ..." but then javier goes nuts abt the idea of a cat sanctuary and kieran can't help but support him and his crazy ass cat endeavors

there's an office out a ways from the house that the employees work out of

this was not what kieran was expecting his life to turn out to be ... not that he has many complaints

they start selling cat accessories that kieran knits (cuz boy can he knit), and taking donations + sponsorships and cat sponsorships (where u pay for updates on a specific cat) and let visitors come see the cats on weekends !!! (since it's ... connected to their house they don't let folks come every day)

they didn't mean/plan for it to be a cat sanctuary, so it's a little awkward cuz it's on their property and house, but they make do

they get lucky w funding fairly quick, considering javier's reach

and they're just so happy ... javier starts taking more breaks from work so he isn't gone for so many months at a time so frequently and kieran can't imagine a life where he's happier

they get married !!!!! they get married and live on their cat farm and they're just so in love ... and they get the happily ever after they deserve
