As an inaugural post I present one of my childhood cats, Bella. We got her from a local shelter.
She was a mackerel black torbie domestic shorthair with a bit of white spotting. and the voice of an angelic squeaky toy.
#she sounded exactly how she looks (she was an adult in this photo her face was just like that)#I know this photo of her is outdoors but don’t do that#my parents didn’t know better and she was ultimately the second cat we lost to a car#keep your cats indoors#cat identification#cat id#domestic shorthair#cat

This is Chiyo! She belongs to someone who's in a facebook group I'm in. Any idea what caused her coloring? I've never seen anything else like it. She was born with it, siblings are normal tabbies and tuxedos.
—
If she was born with it, most likely it's just weird white spotting! She looks to be a black classic tabby with high white (of a sort)! What a beautiful cat.

So this is my cat who was mislabeled as a Maine Coon (I know for a fact she isn’t). But she is vertical, at least.
maybe not a maine coon, but 10/10 for both standing and loafing skills
she's also a brown/black/grey tabby and very pretty, so it's not surprising she was mislabeled

Hi! I saw a really pretty stray cat the other day. The coloration was just rlly eye-catching and I was curious about what the pattern or coloration is called. Any ideas?
this is a lynx point domestic shorthair, which is what happens when the colorpoint gene is combined with tabby (specifically brown/grey/black tabby), and it looks like he's got some fairly extensive and interesting white markings as well, which would explain the back splotches.
but more importantly, this is a baby.

This plant-nibbler is a black solid with high white!
(Unfortunately I am not @plant-identifier [did not expect that to actually be a blog. Hello plant-identifier!] and have no idea what the plant is. I can confidently tell you it's not a cat.)

my sweet little calico lady, she is ever so tiny and I just like sharing her with the world
aww what a sweet little bean! I love cats that just stay small.
(and she is definitely a domestic shorthair, looks like a black torbie same as Bella but with more white)

OH MY GOD FINALLY SOMEONE HAS A CHANCE OF DESCRIBING WHATEVER THE FUCK MY DEAR LILY HAS GOING ON
I love her so much and she is so weirdly and beautifully coloured??
(We adopted her from a local humane society; they had her breed listed as "Snowshoe" but we doubt that; she seems much more Ragdoll is anything.)
I have no damn clue where to even begin to describe her colouring or coat pattern, so, uh... help?
Phenotype: black tortoiseshell colorpoint longhair with <50% white
Just your normal tortie point! The color is more faded on her back because it's warmer there than her face, paws, and tail.
Breed: Likely random-bred
I've gone on rambles about this before but the gist of it is that if you don't know your cat's pedigree it's probably not a specific breed. And that's ok, because all cats are awesome!
Interesting Features: colorful and stunning ✨️
Truly an excellent cat!

Hello this is my beautiful Bengal(?) son Goose (Goosetav). He yells at all hours and consistently confounds me and I love him very much.

Unfortunately not a Bengal (trust me, you would be sure) but still very charming and wonderful! He's a black classic tabby!
