You stood by the piano in the middle of his apartment, nervously holding your phone in your hand as you debated about whether to share the playlist that you had made for him. He comes out from the bathroom after showering and smiles

“Ah there’s my beautiful girlfriend, what can I do for you Y/N?” he asks and you look down at your phone and bite your lip. He growls

“Don’t bite that lip beautiful unless you want something bad to happen to you” he says, his voice lowering an octave and you raise an eyebrow, even more nervous now as you hold out your phone to him and say

“Ok…so, umm I made this playlist for our first month anniversary. I hope it’s not too bad!”

 “Omg, this is- I can’t believe it! I always wanted someone to make me a playlist!” he says enthusiastically as he clicks on the first song at the top of the list.

“So you don’t think it’s weird?” you ask and he turns his attention back to you and smiles happily

“Of course not beautiful, I adore you even more for thinking of me when making this playlist. And this song, I love it by the way” he says leaning down to place a kiss to your lips which you happily accept. Grateful that you had shown him the playlist that you had been so nervous about showing him.

So between being halfway through the first season of Farscape with L and having a resurgence of all these Caskett feelings (cause in my brain Farscape = Tumblr = 2011/2012 = prime Caskett fandom time) I’m just feeling like a nostalgia / fandom Feeling Overdrive and it’s not bad but it’s not good and it feels achey but a good achey but also a bad achey.

It’s like the gutwrenching feeling of watching Celine Dion’s music video for It’s All Coming Back to Me Now or listening to Meatloaf’s Cry Over Me or Blind as a Bat.

Or watching the Caskett fan videos made by @ghost-sawah all those years ago.

It hurts but it hurts in such a good way and I’m wondering if I’m just gearing up to be hurt by Ted Lasso, wanting that hurt and that ache.

But also still not being satisfied when it happens, so seeking it out more and more. More old Castle videos, more old playlists and songs I haven’t heard in almost a decade and revisiting the shows that hurt the most, impacted me the most, had me in a chokehold and will never leave my heart.

I wish I could explain it in a better way - the bittersweet ache that I’m chasing.

He vaguely remembers she’d gotten home, pressed a kiss against his head and mentioned... shower. She was going to have a shower. While he wrote. Except he was stuck for a way to get Nikki and Rook onto the next step of their investigation. And his fiancée was naked and soapy in the other room. And singing. Yeah, she had definitely connected her iPod to the dock and was singing and she was more tantalizing than anything else that needed his attention right now.

He hit save three times a habit born out of years of making sure he didn’t lose a word and hours of work, closed his laptop and proceeded to pull his shirt from his arms and make his way to the bathroom, smiling as he could hear her belting out a Blondie song and thanked his luck that he managed to sneak in just as her playlist changed to Bruce Springsteen, one of his favorites actually, and she swayed to the rhythm just enough to catch sight of him ditching his jeans and boxers and crook a finger at him, holding up her loofah.

He stepped into the shower, taking the loofah and the silent plea to wash her back and pulled her close, enjoying all that bare skin, warm and wet from the shower above her head and swayed with her to the music, their voices mixing together as they both began to sing and they each basked in the song, in the closeness and let the music and the warm water move them.

when words are FLOWING like you're in the right mood and just things are happening JUST like you want. if i look at the clock, write, and look again and somehow it's been an hour, that's the good shit right there. also when i send snippets to my friends and they like it.
