Casa Malaparte

Esta casa situada en la ciudad italiana de Capri. Fue construida en 1937 y su arquitecto es Adalberto Libera. Es considerada como uno de los mejores ejemplos de la arquitectura en Italia

Esta obra podría ser interpretada como un híbrido de la arquitectura clásica y moderna. Ésta fue comisionada por Cruzio Malaparte, dueño de la vivienda, en la cuál, éste quería reflejar su carácter, un lugar para la escritura solitaria y la contemplación

Esta vivienda se divide en 3 plantas:  en la planta baja se encuentra la zona de servicios, bodegas y lavandería; en el primer piso se encuentra la cocina y los dormitorios de invitados y en el último se presenta como el apartamento de Malaparte pues es un mundo único en sí mismo. La mitad de esta planta está ocupado por un amplio espacio de estar y la otra contiene dos habitaciones que conecta con su estudio.

Además, Sobre la casa se encuentra un solárium . A este solárium se accede desde unas escaleras con forma piramidal. A finales de los 80's y principio de los 90's empiza la reconstrucción y restauración de la Casa Malaparte de la mano de Niccolò Rositani colocando la casa bajo la mirada pública. En 1961, Jean-Luc Godard grabó su aclamada película Le Mepris en la Casa Malaparte.

The mythical Casa Malaparte!

I first learned of this remarkable and outrageous house built in 1941 on a rock outcropping on the Italian island of Capri four decades ago; last night offered the opportunity to experience it in NYC.

At the Gagosian Gallery project space on Park Avenue at 75th Street they are presenting limited edition remakes of a few pieces of furniture from the house featured in Jean Luc Godard’s (1930-2022) film ‘Contempt’ starring Bridget Bardot (b. 1934)

Life-sized images of the views to the sea brought the gallery space alive, transporting visitors to this mythical place.

The house is only accessible by boat or on a long and tough walking path - which I experienced with my own eyes when visiting Capri two decades ago.

The descendants of Malaparte still own and use the property, and upon rare occasions it has been used for photo shoots or very exclusive art exhibitions.

The last image is from a book of photographs that were shot by @karllagerfeld (1933-2019) in black and white.
