oh no, @kcrlcv is hot...
ㅤㅤㅤ❛ shall i drink your blood fresh, or slice your neck and spill it out first? ❜
The threat as it was should have been terrifying. She should have been terrifying, and okay, so she was terrifying in that way that a predator can be beautiful and graceful, yet you still knew that it could rip you to pieces without expending enough effort to even need the calories you'd provide when it ate you. Cas knew without a doubt in the world that she could absolutely tear him apart because he'd seen her in action, but he wasn't afraid.
Actually, that was a lie because the primitive lizard part of his brain recognized the lethal danger and was shouted over by the conscious part of his mind that took the jolt from the fear and fed it into excitement. It was Anna, his Anna, and she was beautiful in any form, be it the quiet. peaceful girl that held his face in her cold hands or the floating, black-eyed goddess with the tendrils of inky hair that moved as though she were underwater and her dress dripping with thick, dark blood. The threat as it was should have made him back up because even as a ghost hunter, he was no match for her, or it should have made him run because as a human he was just a chew toy for her, but instead he tilted his chin up to regard her, almost like he was offering more of his throat.
Fresh, of course. Why waste it and get your dress all dirty?" he teased her, a little smile sliding over his lips despite himself because he simply couldn't fear her, not Anna, not anymore. "Anna, come back."

@angclradiio ;; meme (still accepting) Anna said: "I miss my old emotions."
CASTIEL UNDERSTANDS THIS. It has been overwhelming, unbelievably so, when he first got hit by human emotions after Metatron stole his grace. It felt like a freight train running over a paper ball. Adjusting had been hard, almost impossible, but sometimes, he misses the intensity, the love, the joy — not necessarily the sadness or anxiety. But you don't get one without the other. "It's easier to handle everything when it's—diluted, though," he points out, not looking at Anna.

it is kinda funny how prevalent gardener cas is lol. like i don't mind it at all, but i don't remember him ever showing any interest in plants in the twelve years he was on the show, so i'm wondering if this is maybe a covid thing. people locked up in their houses writing fanfic bc they're upset with the finale while also desperate for outside-time and the trope taking off from there
#and obviously there's the anna grace tree thing#and joshua's garden in heaven#cas' favourite heaven is a garden#this link between angels/grace/heaven and gardens is definitely present#like i love it but i also agree it would v funny if cas were crap at it lmao#an outlier even in this basic part of their nature#cas

Cas definitely didn't remember the circumstances of their apparent decision to leave together and end up in bed, but he was pretty confident in his abilities and he remembered enough in little bits to know that he'd had a good time and she'd seemed to. Details were fuzzy, but she'd laughed in this very bed and it wasn't at him, so he counted that as a win. She wasn't laughing currently, however, and her mood actually seemed to be getting worse, which was definitely worth some concern and also not something he was used to. Not that he was used to any of this, but he tended to leave partners on amicable terms. What had he done?
The name drop of a few moments before, not even really lucid from sleep and hungover, was forgotten to the pounding of his head and her sour expression as she took the pills with more aggression than even a hangover needed, popped a few and drank from the glass and pushed it all back into his hands. He clearly hadn't caught onto the issue yet and leaned back against the dresser as he popped a few of the tylenol himself, drinking from the same glass without a thought otherwise. Was it just that they didn't know each other before last night? Fuck, he really wished he remembered her name, because asking right now seemed like such a dick move when he remembered things like her journalism degree and that she was from some small town he hadn't heard of. Hawksville or something?
You okay? Don't think I've ever seen anyone take tylenol aggressively before," he observed, considering. She didn't think anything bad had happened, did she? He definitely hadn't done anything to take advantage, and honestly wasn't sure he could see himself even being the one to broach the topic of sex. Had they just fallen into each other, not thinking?
She snapped at him about turning around and he blinked, startled from his wondering to realize that yeah, okay, oops. "Right, sorry." He nodded, turning for the little kitchenette so that his back could be to her while he finished off the water and went for the fridge for what? Orange juice? Sure. He might have something else for breakfast food in there, eggs or something. If not, there was a diner a few doors down. It was as she continued her thought process that he spun back around before he could think twice about it, expression gone painfully serious and also betraying some of the pain and regret he was reminded of so often in his dreams - to a practiced eye only. "What did you just say? Anna? What do you know about Anna?"
How would she know about Anna? He didn't talk about her, he knew that much, so it wasn't something from the night before. He'd forgotten that he was supposed to be looking away in his shock and forced himself to turn to look somewhere else, but he was still facing her well enough to talk. She'd said 'so you can call Anna', and that made absolutely no sense - a fact that struck him just as suddenly while his extremely unhappy brain tried to work through the abuse he'd put upon it. "Anna isn't...she's..."
There's no good way to break that news, not that it was really new when the crime that had taken her life was back in the 50's, but he didn't have to mention that part and make himself out to be any crazier than the rest would make him sound. "Anna's dead. She's gone," he finished, tone flatter than he'd have liked, but the other thing he couldn't explain was that those were two separate things - she'd been dead already when he met her, but now she was gone, and that was so much worse.
ㅤㅤthin fingers continued to squeeze around the fabric of the comforter , the only shred of cloth between her and the cool air , as she looked over at @darkstarsrise. part of her mind wanted to ponder over his looks , the small flashes of memory from the night before , and what would have encouraged her to go home with him but the other part simply couldn't. there was too much going on for her to sit and admire the guy. she needed to know what time it was , and if she'd missed her early morning train home , but more importantly ― she needed to know where her clothes were.
Anna '. she didn't know who Anna was , but the sound of her name made Nancy want to throw up. clearly she'd slept with someone who had a girlfriend or a wife or a prior engagement , something. nevermind the fact that she couldn't remember his name , but he clearly though she was someone else. or at least wanted someone else. a slight lift in his eyebrows once he turned to look at her told Nancy that he was surprised to see her , which somehow reinforced the thought in her mind that he'd expected someone else to be in bed next to him , not her.
Nancy didn't bother arguing when he set off to find the tylenol , the sharp pain in her temples intensifying as she thought about it again. her head was killing her , but her pride and modesty were coming in for a very close second and third. she had never had something like this happen before , managing before to keep her list to just Steve and Jonathan , but now there was a third name on the list. A THIRD NAME BUT ONE SHE DIDN'T KNOW.
ㅤㅤher thoughts vanished from her mind as he moved out from beneath the blanket that they'd shared. she quickly averted her gaze to the designs on the blanket , following along with the shapes rather than watch as his body moved. this was made even harder when he laughed , albeit a small laugh , and a memory of the night before flashed.
Nancy had been introduced to several new people , though their names were lost to her now , and he was among them. she couldn't remember what they had been talking about but the way he laughed at corny jokes , the way the delight seemed to show all over his face , to change it almost entirely. part of her realized with that memory why it might've been easy to get her to go home with him but , NO. she didn't want to think about that.
ㅤㅤthe brunette pressed her lips together as she finally did look up at him , one hand reaching out for the pills and glass of water. she was so confused by her own feelings , unsure of how to proceed with the day. she knew that she needed to find her clothes , she knew that she'd need to call home and reschedule her visit. the only problem was she needed to find out this guy's name now , before anything else , and tell his girlfriend Anna what she'd done to her.
ㅤㅤthat thought made her angry again , and she shoved the pills into her mouth while her mind formed the words she planned to yell. she swallowed a quick gulp of half the offered water before reaching to hand it back to him. she hadn't even thought about setting it on the dresser behind her. " you're going to need to , like , turn around or something.. " she spat , her head tilting forward slightly as she looked around on the floor for something that belonged to her. her brows furrowed as she tried to make sense of the clothes on the floor until finally finding something of her own. reaching down to the floor , she swiped clothes up from the floor and started to quickly sort them out. " but don't worry , I'll be out of your hair soon so you can call Anna."

hello! ive seen you talk about astrology a few times and i was wondering if you had any books or article that historicise the practice. most of what i can find is very vague, and starting off from a 20th century definition (¬ v critical). i'm interested in any period, im just trying to start to get a sense of its different uses & epistemological frameworks. thank you your bibliography work on here is very precious :)
ok there's a lot of writing on astrology so this is not comprehensive by any means. u should also keep in mind that historically (painting in broad strokes here) astrology and astronomy were not entirely distinct practices, both because the point of astronomical observations was often to make astrological predictions, and because most people practicing astrology were expected to at least present themselves as having the instruments and savoir-faire to generate their own astronomical data. the non-astronomer astrologer is kind of a special case. so, astrology will pop up in lots of texts about historical astronomy and cosmology, even if that's not the primary focus. i would honestly usually recommend such texts over ones that try to tackle astrology under the broader schema of 'occult sciences' (contested category).
misc astrology until 1800

Rewatching I Know What You Did Last Summer
Welcome to “A Nice Smoky Eye Is the Key to Good Mental Health, But There’s Also Nothing Like a Good Defenestration: A Supernatural Rewatch Blog” with Lor and Mace!
Up today, s4e9: I Know What You Did Last Summer
Ruby clues the boys into the case of a young woman who has escaped a psychiatric hospital and who is being hunted by demons. Sam is ready to go check it out, but Dean needs some convincing—he’s still super sus about all things Ruby. When they find the woman, Anna, she tells them she can overhear the angels talking to one another, that this power started the same day Dean escaped hell, and that they think Dean can help them but most of them don’t like Sam at all. Several fights with bad news demons later (and after the revelation that Dean remembers one of them, Alastair, from his time in hell), Sam, Dean, Anna, and Ruby are holed up in a barn when Anna declares “they’re coming” just before Cas Floof Hair and Uriel Shit-Stirrer arrive. Cas declares that Anna must die. Roll credits. Interspersed throughout the episode are flashbacks to Sam’s time alone while Dean was in hell. We learn that Ruby is inhabiting an empty vessel at Sam’s request, that she saved his life, and that they are knocking boots. Dean is very slightly appeased about her, having learned that she saved Sam.
Below is a log of our real-time reactions as we watched. Remember that there may be spoilers for any part of SPN’s 15-season run here. Note also that the nature of our conversation is adult and thus it may contain adult language and themes.
[and we begin:]
Lor:
god, uriel, you're such a PAIN
Mace:
he really really is
Mace:
ugh. HER.
Lor:
lol yep
tacos
she was trying to warn them about tacos
Mace:
SNORK
amazing how she manages to keep her smoky eyes in the mental hospital
Lor:
i love that she says "kind of" when she asks if it's like from the bible

Lor:
I think Dean enjoys DOING the hustle at least as much as he likes the money
Mace:

Lor:
omg the glare Dean is giving Sam from the background when he asks for the hospital name
Mace:
YAS
Dean gets bitch-facey about Ruby
Lor:
okay, Sam is right to be annoyed with him but I'm not sure those stories are on the same level
he DOES
Mace:
Sam is equally bitch-sassy

Mace:

Lor:
I never thought of this before, but if Sam had died while Dean was in hell, presumably he would have gone to heaven and then they would have been separated FOREVER
Mace:
oh YOICKS
Lor:
right?
thanks, Brain
Mace:
except Dean would have found a way out of hell and sammy would have found a way to skip out of heaven to find Dean
Lor:

Mace:

Neuzeit: Mary Astell – Mary Wollstonecraft – Harriet Taylor Mill – Jenny Westphalen-Marx
Sappho von Lesbos (ca. 630 – 570 v. Chr.)

Hello! My name is Elena, and I am a queer singer-songwriter from Seattle, WA.
I have a single, “Eva Green Time Machine (Queer Waltz) coming out on 9/15, pun intended!
I wrote this song after waking up from a dream in which I traveled back in time. I fell in love with a woman who looked like the actress Eva Green. I convinced her to come back with me to the 21st century so we could be together.
Here is a link to a music video clip for the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv559DuUYms
Videographer Tiffany Tomkinson found and edited this clip from a public domain film (“Pandora’s Box” by P.W.Pabst, 1929) that matched the mood of the song so perfectly I got chills.
And a link to the unreleased track on Spotify: https://soundcloud.com/user-830136637-320889135/evagreentimemachinequeerwaltz/s-tYw6w7kOVMm?si=b5b76fbbca4745e2899851feb7af44f6&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
I can send along Spotify and other streaming links once the song goes live on 9/15.
Thanks!
