minisode of carol and daryl being engaged
(I know. I fell way behind on these again)
Carol watches the sun set across the ocean. Daryl walks across the deck to meet her, his hands stuffed in his pockets.
Carol: If you’re seasick, there's ginger root in the cabin.
Daryl: I’m fine.
Carol: Really? You look pale.
Daryl grunts, removing his hands from his pockets and holding out her newly-improved twine bracelet, now decorated with a small scallop shell. Carol tries to hide her excitement under a smirk.
Carol:  I thought I lost that on the beach.
Daryl: Saw it fall off. Borrowed it.
Carol: It's beautiful.
She kisses his knuckles and accepts the gift, starting to tie it on. Daryl touches her wrist. They share a look.
Daryl: I want you to be my wife.
Carol doesn't move, doesn't say anything.
Daryl: Ain’t scared of losing you. No matter what happens, we always find each other again. I just...
Carol hands him back the bracelet. Daryl takes it, deflating.
But then Carol takes a step back, smiling through her tears while she holds out her wrist.
Daryl can’t react fast enough. In his excitement, he fumbles with the bracelet before it’s finally secure. Carol lifts his chin.
Carol: I know.
She kisses him. He smiles against her lips, pulling her closer.

"Don't move! ... Keep your hands down ... Where's my friend?!"
The way her voice sounds when she says, "Where's my friend?" 😢 and the look on her face as she's holding the crossbow 😭 like having it in her hands again, has just flooded her with emotions.
My heart can't handle seeing her so scared and worried for him, almost like she's only just holding everything together because she feels like her whole world is gonna collapse out from under her if she finds out that something happened to him and she's too late to save him.

"We did several takes of the scene where we last see Daryl and Carol together, when they tell one another 'I love you.' One of the things I love about working together with Norman is that we don't rehearse, which was the case with this scene. Each take was a little different. These are the last words we hear them say to each other. In this final scene, I was struck by Daryl's deliberateness to tell Carol that he loves her, the stillness he held as he said it, and then her reaction to seemingly try to intercept the weight of it, tossing it back to him lightly, playfully, for the road ahead. It's a good way to remember them, taking care of one another."

Has anyone considered whether the scene where Daryl is sitting on Laurent's bed baseball-dad-style and saying about the three of them going to America together could be a dream Laurent was having? Maybe even the weird awk baseball scene itself was a dream? Like I literally would not be surprised, twd has been enjoying it's dream sequences lately.

DARYL GETS HIS SCAR MINISODE PLZ
I walked right into that one, didn't I? xD Sorry for the angst.
On the Rocks
Strong currents pull Daryl and Carol down the river. Their makeshift boat rocks back and forth, the two of them managing to keep it steady.
Daryl: This is where I stopped last time. Didn’t find anything, but maybe further down.
He lowers his binoculars. Carol watches him.
Daryl: You’re real quiet.
Carol: I didn’t think you’d mind.
Daryl: You okay?
Carol: I don’t know.
Daryl: He’s mad again?
The boat rocks. They hold a beat.
Carol: He’s not mad. He’s never really mad. Just frustrated.
Daryl: It ain’t your fault.
Carol: You don’t know what happened.
Daryl: Don’t need to.
Carol: It’s not just him this time. Henry’s already older than Sophia was when she…
The silence is heavy between them.
Carol: I’m in uncharted territory, and–and I don’t think I belong.
Daryl: I think about Sophia a lot. I think about what we lost…
As that lands on Carol, the boat hits a particularly strong current. She starts to tip over. Daryl grabs her and pulls her to him. They both catch their breath, very aware that they’re in each other’s space.  Less aware that they’re picking up speed.
Carol: Do you think it’s still possible?
Daryl: What is?
Carol: Starting over.
Daryl: Maybe. For some people.
Carol: For us?
Daryl stares. Carol stares back, her eyes widening suddenly.
Carol: Daryl!
The boat crashes into a rock in the middle of the river. Something snaps. Daryl and Carol cling to each other as they go over and under.
The water looks murky in Daryl’s POV. Everything is topsy-turvy. In one beat, Carol’s hair is in Daryl’s face and in the next, it’s a sharp piece of the wreckage. The murkiness runs red, and then everything goes dark.
[two years into these minisodes and realizing for the first time that I should probably use slug lines 0.o Anyways...]
Raindrops hit Daryl’s face, bringing him back to himself. He peels his eyes open, one of them badly cut. Carol dabs at it with an unsteady hand.
Carol: Don’t move. You're hurt.
Daryl: I’m fine.
He sits up with Carol’s help, wincing.
Carol: You scared the shit out of me. I thought–let’s just rest for a while. Make sure the bleeding stops.
Daryl: Alright.
Carol: I'll help you make camp.
Daryl: Thanks.
Carol: Daryl?
He meets her eye reluctantly. She looks anguished.
Carol: What I said before…Henry’s a good boy. And he’s my boy. I have to try.
Daryl: I know.
Carol tends to Daryl’s eye again. Their boat is still in the river, broken, wedged between some rocks.

Remember when Daryl threatened Richard, walkers, and the weather if anything happened to Carol? He was so extra and yet, so valid for that.
