sometimes it's clear who a post is directed at, even without seeing the tags
anyway, this got me thinking about what moths look Geara-y. and I don't really have a good answer for canon Geara, but the carpenterworm moth did pop into my head because of Genesis (mainly on account of the color scheme)

i must draw geara as a furry again.. it'll have to be multiple different animals though seeing as i have multiple ideas but like! ram geara... cat geara... bat, skunk, bunny...

Bug of the Day
This moth was so huge, I saw it on the other side of the sheet and took a photo of the shadow.

Big moth came landed on me, came into the guard house to get comfy before death. Omen or nah? He’s a Carpenterworm moth, Prionoxystus robiniae.

It’s a Carpenterworm Moth! I saw my first ones earlier this year and I was very confused! It seems like they can have a bit of variation in the color. Check out their bugguide page for more info [link].

Carpenterworm Moth! Yay! I love the salt and pepper markings. It reminds me of when you sprinkle salt on watercolor before it dries.

@ragons submitted: I found this lovely moth in [removed] (please remove) and im a little stumped on who she is. My guess is rustic sphinx moth because of the colors but she doesn't hold her wings like normal sphinx moths? Thank you!
You are correct in that she does not quite look like a sphinx because she's not one! She's a carpenterworm moth, Prionoxystus robiniae, in the family Cossidae.

@stewedprunes submitted: Pretty sure this is a carpenterworm moth! Found in Iowa!
Yep, pretty sure you’re right! A friend and a pal...their strange caterpillars look more like beetle grubs:

Which actually makes sense given that many beetle grubs are wood borers and so is this dude. Fun! Photo by donnadugan

Some kinda nice moth. I once had a volunteer gig for several months where I was just IDing and pinning moths all day but I am sorry to say I retained nothing (except an appreciation for their infinite cuteness). Illinois, 2015.
Very pretty! That sounds like a super fun job I’d love to do that. Mood about not retaining information, though. Nothing in my head but bugs. Anyway this dude is a carpenterworm moth. They have very pretty yellow hindwings!

I dunno, I don’t really feel like you guys appreciated how cool that carpenterworm moth from the other night was. How about this view? How about that tiny little wasp on his huge adorable face???
