Warnings: none
A/n: Okay, so this fic kind of went off track of the complete ask because I hadn't second-read the ask until after, so I hope it's not too disappointing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Caroline pulls you into the kitchen. "Hey!" You exclaim to your big sister.
"What do you think you're doing?" Caroline asks you, eyebrows raised. "You have to be more specific" You cross your arms.
You know exactly what she's talking about, but the mind also drags this on, seeing how long it takes till she cracks or rainbows come shooting out of her. It's been a wonder in your mind for years. Like seriously, how can she be so cheery all the time. especially during school. School is literal hell.
"The fact that you were basically having eye sex with Katherine. Katherine of all people!" Caroline exclaims in a whisper yell. "Would it be better if it was Damon?" You smirk.
She gives her the look, and you drop the smirk right away. "Just stay in your room until everyone leaves" Caroline sighs.
"Fine, Mom" you roll your eyes before passing everyone in the living room and go up the stairs to your bedroom.
You lay down on your back on your bed, arms crossed. "Oh yeah, just ground the girl because she has a tiny crush. Not like anything's gonna happen" You mumble-grumble to yourself.
"Only if you think like that" Katherine walks into your room and closes the door.
"How the hell did Care not kick your ass for coming up the stairs?" You sit up. "Who says she knows?" Katherine smirks.
She walks over to the bed and sits beside you. "Wait, why are you here exactly" Your eyebrows furrow.
"You're too oblivious for your own kind. It's cute" Katherine shakes her head. "What do you mea-" Before you can finish, Katherine cuts you off with a kiss.
You pull away, "Was not expecting that"
"Well, it's not going to be the last time" Katherine kisses you again. She quickly vamps into your closet. Before you can ask her what's going on, your door opens.
"You okay?" Jeremy asks you. "Oh, nothing, just Caroline being a pain in my ass," You tell your best friend.
"Katherine's in here, isn't she?" He says. "Shut up."
He just chuckles before retreating back downstairs.
Perception
Part 4
Part 1, part 2, part 3
Tumblr media
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Summary: Y/n just wanted to drop some books off at the Salvatores. She expects to find trouble, being the odd one out and everything, she doesn't expect his name to be Damon Salvatore. And with the week she's had? Everything is falling out of place and now the monsters of her past are out to get her.
Warnings: angst, violence, kidnapping, injuries, vampire stuffs (obviously, otherwise why are you here?), uhm lore dump***, fast burn AF, language probably...
Word count: 1.7k
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The silence was loud.The shuffling of feet and the whispers of words that were just out of reach, a pounding baseline against my skull.
The past twenty-four hours came flooding back to me like a dam burst. Damon kissed me, he kissed me like he needed me as much as I needed air. It was hungry, enough to devour me whole. And then I was alone again. In the woods clearing my head. And then I was passing out, the sheer proximity of the spiteful vampire, my complete downfall. His words literally rattling around in my head. I was his... what? Soulmate? Do vampires even have those?
And then bang, we were hit head on by a car.
I opened my eyes suddenly, the room was dark, save for the Crack of light peeking through an abandoned doorway. My body throbbed in any direction I turned, my neck ached with a firey passion.
I noticed I was slumped against the wall, I also noticed that there was a sulking figure in the opposite corner. "Damon?" I should've heard him breath, but the room was painfully silent. I got to my knees, the pain blinding. Everything stung as I crawled across the floor. Splinters sprung up underneath my hands and dug into my skin. I reached him, I put my hands on his shoulders, I shook him gently. "Damon." I repeated.
I sighed as I heard him stir. He tuned towards me, his eyes screwed shut. "What-?" Suddenly there was motion, noise. It dulled the aching thrum of the quiet, that the pounding of my heart had filled moments ago. I placed my fingers to his lips to shush him. We waited.
"Yeah, we got the two for 'im. Don't think it wasn't a bitch to get the vampire to cooperate." There was the static pause that came with the response over the phone. "Well bloody tell 'im that the boss doesn't like to waste time. We're traders. If you ain't got nothin' to trade, don't bother calling back before the deal's done." The man down the hall hung up.
Damon tensed next to me as his heavy footfalls echoed down the hall. I felt something in Damon resolve, maybe it was this freaky mental bond between us, or maybe it was my own enhanced perception but I tensed with him.
The door swung open and suddenly I was being pulled by the waist faster than I could blink. Damon rushed the guy, shoving him against the doorframe as we passed. I heard the man grunt but we were gone before I could see his face. He called after us, and my ears ached as his words bounced off the walls and rattled in my skull as Damon raced towards some unseen escape, ~"supposed to keep him down until The Maker... call him! Don't let them escape!" Several voices trailed after him. It was all too much to take after everything that happened.
Inexplicably, I felt the rush of cool air against my cheeks. I realised I'd closed my eyes. When I opened them we were surrounded by woods. The trees were tall and looming like I'd described the Boarding house, except the death and decay I felt from them was rancid and dangerous. Vampires lived here, a lot of them.
"Shit, Y/n, you need to walk. I can't vamp-speed us out of here." He huffed. I noticed, even in the absence of the moonlight, the sweat that glistened on his brow and the heavy rise and fall of his chest. His clothes were torn and bloody. Then I saw his neck...
"Damon-" my heart panged at the sight.
"Not now!" He chastised in a whisper. We could still here the shouts and leers coming across the clearing from our captors. It made me shudder. Damon's hand, that I forgot had been clamped tightly around my waist pulled me tighter. A part of me should've hated him, he lied and tormented and for as long as I've known him, been a righteous jack-ass. The other part of me told myself I was stupid and he'd just saved my life.
I would deal with what came next later. "Okay," He whispered, "can you stand?" I nodded. "Good. I can hear the highway due South, we need to be absurdly quiet. Like, we don't even exist quiet." He looked at me, I must've looked terrified because he added, "Think Stefan and Elena when I walk into a room." I wanted to laugh, I really did, but I just nodded my head shakily.
So we walked. I held onto him, my left leg in agony with every step. I could feel Damon was putting on a brave face, even with the gaping, bite-shaped gash that poured blood down his neck. He wasn't going to make it to the highway.
"Damon, stop." He shook his head, not really listening. "Damon, just," I wanted to find the words, "Do what somebody asks of you, ifor once?" He scowled at me. We stopped. I had no ides how long we had been walking, but I knew I had to help him. It was my only chance of getting somewhere safe. And ashamedly, I had to admit that I wanted answers. I extended my wrist and he looked at me. "It's not that confusing. Or do I have to explain the process of being a vampire to a vampire?" That was supposed to be funny. I shook my head at him. "I'm serious. You need blood if we're gonna get out of here. Just heal me if I pass out." I started to feel squirmish under his scrutinizing gaze.
"I wanted to tell you." He started. He looked away from me, my something I don't think he could see. "When a vampire... when a vampire has been alive long enough, sometimes this freak of nature crap happens and it sucks two souls together." His words were slurred and I went with him as he fell to the ground. "It's all about witchy balance, mumbo-jumbo."
"But what does that mean? I mean, why is it such a big deal? Hundreds of vampires have lived longer than you." It was so surreal to see him like this. Almost-
"Because it's a curse. The darkness of the night always taints whatever light it touches. That's how it's always been." He grimaced.
"Are you scared?" I asked.
He looked up at me. "Yes. I wanted to talk to a witch I know in Georgia. She knows about the blood curse."
"Blood curse?" He looked at the wrist I had offered him. "Oh." It was all snapping into place. "So that's why we've been so, off, around each other? It's a curse?" He nodded. His breath even more ragged.
"The curse of an immortal. To be die for his obsession for his mortal counter part. If they bond, she'll never be able to turn and he'll never get enough of her blood. Eventually they both die of madness." He said it like it had bitten him and the very words rolled off his tongue with a venom that rattled through me. It was terrifying.
"But, you need to get us out of here." He scoffed, the bitterness written across his sculptured face.
"And then what Y/n? We go about our lives? We succumb to the curse and the lust? And then you fucking die?" His nails dug into my wrist, the very life essence that we both so desperately needed, pooling underneath his hand. I watched the veins under his eyes pulse.
"I can't... it's too cruel. Even for me Y/n. It's too much to ask. What's another day worth anyways?" He laughed. It was a hollow sound. "I've been a monster all my life and that's fine. I can be the bad guy, but not with you. I just can't. I don't even know if that's me, or some shitty curse that's an anomaly in of itself." Damon looked awful, his skin was paling and his brow was furrowed in a mixture of grief and pain.
I touched his face. "Hey, maybe it's cruel, maybe it's too much to ask. But shit happens Damon. The test of a person is never how they fall. It's how they get up and I need us to get up. Later is later. I can deal with that, but I need us to be a team right now. And maybe... maybe you're right, and it's just some shitty curse, but it doesn't matter." He looked up at me, surprise glinting in his cerulean eyes. I pressed my wrist against his lips. "Because I knew you were a fighter, that's why I didn't shoot you when we first met. I couldn't get that fire out of my head. You were all consuming and dammit if that man can't find away around a dumb, luck of the draw curse."
He searched my eyes, my face,my very soul. He asked me if I really meant what I said, if I was okay with this, with him. As much I wanted to say that I should hate him, I didn't. As much as I wanted to run as fast as I could, I wouldn't because the man I had come to know had this incredible allure about him. A sensation I could only describe as a roaring blaze. That's the man that I wanted to win against all odds with. And I would.
His fangs dug into my flesh, the feeling was pain and pleasure all in one. I felt something solidify between us, the magic that kept Damon alive and the power that allowed me to see beyond my wildest dreams, it intertwined so beautifully, that I couldn't help but shed a tear.
-----------
It was sunrise when I woke up against Damon's chest. The woods seemed less frightening now, as the birds chirped and the golden rays of light blossomed through the leaves. I smiled at how the light caught his eyelashes and made him look so peaceful in sleep.
Then I heard the roaring of cars in the distance. "Damon!" I shoved his chest as I began to rise. He groaned and grimaced against the light. He lifted a hand to the sun.
"Wha-?" He could barely finish a thought before I was pulling him up and racing towards the sound.
"I hear the Highway!" I beamed at him.
11. harbinger of heartbreak
Tumblr media
summary: At the festival, you have a moment with Stefan that is overshadowed by your brutal reality...but more heartbreaks await.
pairings: stefan salvatore x reader
warnings: none, just pure emotions
word count: 4.2K
NEARLY ALL OF MYSTIC FALLS packed the Town Square, excited to participate in the Night of the Comet Festival. Your dress swung in the biting wind, which your leather jacket shielded you from.
"Do you see Bonnie anywhere?" Caroline asked loudly, standing on her tiptoes, her eyes flitting around the square. You shook your head. She sighed. "I'm going inside to call her. Be right back."
She walked away. You fixed your jacket collar and looked around for familiar faces, wishing your friend stayed beside you as you awkwardly shuffled through the crowd. A relieved smile tugged at your lips when you noticed Matt walking in your direction. "Hey."
"Hey," He greeted softly and tilted his candle forwards. The flames hit the ends of your stem, lighting it up.
You looked up at him, smiling, and he couldn't help but notice the mischievous gleam sparkling in your eyes. He hadn't seen that in months. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," He replied, returning the smile. You turned to light the candle beside you. You had no intention of looking at the holder until you saw the hand grasping the candle, or rather the ring around one of his fingers.
"Thank you." Frowning, you lifted your head to meet Stefan's gaze. He smiled and leaned forward. "Hi."
"H-Hi," You stuttered and quickly turned, not ready to face him just yet. You'd had a moment of clarity on your way to the festival. You'd realize how impulsive it'd been for you to pursue him. That sort of impulsivity was something the old you excelled in...but had abandoned to survive. That wasn't you anymore. No matter how badly you wanted it to be.
You'd expected Stefan to realize that you were a lost cause and leave. Dead weight. You were never going to be more than friends; you were never even going to be best friends, because you couldn't open your heart up anymore. Only those you'd loved before the accident had passage. And Stefan, unfortunately, didn't fit that requirement.
But you'd forgotten one thing: Stefan Salvatore defied expectations. You hadn't realized your miscalculation until you felt his body heat tangle with yours, doing more than your jacket ever could.
"You know, that comet..." He whispered in your ear. His breath caressed your neck. You immediately tensed, but every nerve in your body screamed at you to stay still. "It's been traveling across space for thousands of years. All alone."
You wanted to raise your eyebrow and say something like "When did 17-year-olds become so deep?" but your face was suddenly frozen and your voice lost. You craned your neck to gaze at him as he watched the passing comet. He was serious. You looked at the sky, the comet descending. It looked like blue magic in the sky, a kind of beauty that only nature could produce.
"It's a ball of snow and ice, trapped on a path that it can't escape." He continued. "And once every one hundred and forty-five years, it gets to come home."
You cleared your throat. You couldn't let him see you like...this.
"Really?" You asked, squinting. "All I see is a comet."
Stefan smiled. You were trying to be funny, but you'd never thought of something so...beautiful. And poetic. How many times had you walked by nature, unaware of the depth and loneliness that lived within? And if it was so easy for Stefan to see this in an inanimate object...how easy would it be for him to see right through you?
His voice was a gentle disruption. "I'm about yesterday. I wasn't myself."
"It's okay, I get it," You said and turned to face him. "Family makes you cranky. If it makes you feel any better, half of the time I wanna murder my own brother."
"You mean the junkie?"
You chuckled. "That would be the one." The grave look in Stefan's eyes wiped the smile clean off your face. You sighed. "Look, your brother told me about your ex, Katherine."
You could almost feel his heart stop. You didn't know what the big deal was—everyone had exes, so what made Katherine so different?But clearly, you'd gotten his full attention, which was evident by his deep frown and contemplative silence.
"What did he say?"
"That she broke your heart."
"...That was a long time ago."
You nodded. "Okay. And even if it wasn't, you don't owe me anything. We all have our heartbreaks or things of the past that we just don't talk about. I don't expect you to tell me everything. It's not like we're dating. I mean, we're just friends. Right?"
For a moment, bewilderment painted his face. Then he forced a smile. "Um, right."
He cleared his throat and stepped back. You both looked away from each other at the same time. Your entire face warmed out of embarrassment. Where the hell was Caroline?
"I'm going to find Bonnie," You informed him. You'd been standing here long enough. "It was nice talking to you, Stefan. Enjoy the rest of the festival."
You offered him a tight-lipped smile and walked away. So much for going back to normal, you thought, going inside The Grill for a drink. If were charming enough, perhaps the bartender would let your age slide and hook you up.
"Oh there you are!" Caroline exclaimed, grabbing your elbow. Bonnie was at her hip, and she could barely look at you. "We were just saying how...what's wrong with you?"
"It's nothing, Caroline." You shrugged out of the blonde's grasp.
Caroline crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow as she gave you a disbelieving expression. "It doesn't look like nothing."
Normally, you weren't one to care or really notice if something was wrong. You'd spent two months concealing your emotions. And there was no way in hell you could be losing your edge now, not when you needed it the most.
"Just drop it," You muttered. Even if you couldn't lie, you could still avoid the subject.
"So did you talk to Stefan?"
"Yeah it went great," You deadpanned. "The skies parted and it was Heaven on Earth."
"That bad, huh?" Bonnie asked.
"Yep. And I think I may have made things worse."
Bonnie gave you a sympathetic half-smile. "Are you okay?" She questioned tenderly.
"I'm great," You lied. "I don't really want to talk about it. Can we go inside? Did you guys light your candles yet?"
"Yep. Caroline basically dragged me through the place in search of Sexy Bar Guy but he's a no-show."
"Well, then I have spectacular news," You announced with a joyous grin. "It turns out that our mystery guy is actually Stefan's older brother. His name is Damon."
"Oh my god!" Caroline shrieked with widened eyes. "The leather, the eyes, the hair...It all makes sense!"
"How?" Bonnie asked. "From what you described they don't look anything alike."
You nodded. "They really don't. Maybe one is adopted. Or they're half-siblings? That could explain all the tension."
The friends gave a chorus of agreement as they approached Matt and Tyler, who were chatting at a table. You took the seat next to Tyler, deciding it best to avoid Matt so he wouldn't pick up the wrong vibe from you, and the former watched as you rested beside him.
"Gilbert," He greeted nonchalantly before taking a sip of his drink. You glanced at the plate before him. Whatever food used to be there had been wolfed down, leaving nothing but a pile of bones. It seemed that Bonnie's food was popular with a certain someone.
You forced a smile. "Lockwood."
Ever since you'd shared a drunken kiss (and more) at a party a couple months ago, you'd had quite a fragile relationship. Of course, that didn't stop him from picking on your brother when given the chance, but your history was wild enough for him to know not to screw up in front of you.
"Hey, has anyone seen Vicki?" Jeremy suddenly asked as he advanced toward the table, his eyes searching elsewhere for his...friend. You stiffened. You'd thought they'd stop hanging out after...well, after their inappropriate "fling" to put it lightly.
Tyler looked at Jeremy with narrowed eyes, seemingly unbothered by his girlfriend's disappearance. "You're her stalker, you tell us," He commented.
You rolled your eyes. "Come on, Jer, you know how she is." Much like her mother, she had a tendency to disappear. You wished that she would disappear from Jeremy's mind, but that seemed to be a work in progress. Oh, well. If Vicki wanted to mess around, fine, but she was well aware that you didn't pull her punches.
"She probably found somebody else to party with," Tyler added. "Sorry, pill pusher, I guess you've been replaced."
You frowned. "What?"
"She's never going to go for you," Tyler continued, ignoring your confusion.
"Hold on... "
"She already did," Jeremy practically spat. Fury blazed in his eyes. "Over and over and over again."
Tyler scoffed. "Yeah, right."
"You slept with Vicki Donovan?" Caroline asked, giving a scoff-like chuckle as if it were the most amusing story she'd heard all year. "I mean, Vicki Donovan slept with you?"
"There's no way," Tyler said, shaking his head with disbelief. If only he knew.
Jeremy leaned down with cold, hard eyes. "And I didn't even have to force her into it."
"What the hell is he talking about, Ty?" Matt asked. A scarily wide smile lingered on his face, but he seemed more pissed off than surprised.
"Nothing man, just ignore him, he's a punk."
"Don't talk about my brother like that," You snapped. You thought he would've known better but it seemed like he needed to be taught twice.
However, Tyler didn't seem fazed. With an arrogant smile, he leaned in. "Yeah? And what are you gonna do about it?"
"Keep talking and you'll find out."
Matt set his drink on the table, gentler than a slam but loud enough to get their attention. "You know what, how about all of you shut up and help me find my sister?"
Caroline laughed, nodding in agreement. "Yeah we don't want Ty's nose to get broken again. It was hardly a good look the first time."
"We'll check the back," Bonnie proposed, already getting off the stool. Everyone wordlessly agreed to ignore Caroline's remark, except you. You snickered, remembering how that well-deserved punch damaged Tyler's reputation when you were kids. It had been a dark time for him.
"I'll check the square," Matt announced to the group.
"I'll come with you," Jeremy offered.
"No, you won't," You spoke up. "Matt, go. Jeremy stays with me."
Matt nodded. He recognized the look on your face—everyone did. You were the pure embodiment of calm before the storm.
So with that being said, the teens dispersed with hopes of finding their sort-of missing friend.
"Really?" Jeremy asked irritably as he watched them go. He turned to his sister. "You wanna do this right now?"
"You said it only happened once, Jeremy."
"It did," He scoffed. "Then again. And again."
Hot rage flashed in your eyes. Jeremy deserved better than this. Vicki was too old and quite frankly, too messed up to ever be with him. "Have you lost your mind?" You seethed. "It's bad enough that you're taking drugs but you're selling them too? And don't get me started on whatever the hell is going on with you and Vicki. She's eighteen, Jeremy. And she's only using you to get high."
Jeremy rolled his eyes but you kept going. "What she's doing is wrong. And insane."
"Says the one that got sent to a mental institution," He snapped. You flinched. Your jaw dropped before you could even process the movement. "Yeah, do you honestly think that what you did to her just slipped my mind?"
You recomposed yourself. You'd been firm...maybe you could be a little more benign. Breaking his defenses was impossible. So the best course of action would be to prevent them from ever activating in the first place.
"I think that losing yourself isn't going to bring Mom and Dad back. I think you're ruining your life by making stupid decisions and if you keep going at this rate, you'll get an early grave right next to theirs."
"Good. Then I won't be your problem anymore."
He tried to turn, but you gripped his arm, forcing him to face you. "Why won't you talk to me?" You demanded. You were starting to outrun your patience. When would he understand that you wanted the best for him? You weren't his enemy. But ever since your parents died, he'd treated you like he was an innocent prince and you were a sword-wielding maniac.
"You won't talk to me," He retorted.
"But I'm talking to someone," You pointed out. "I'm dealing with this in a healthy way-"
Jeremy scoffed. Between him and Caroline, the sound was starting to annoy you senseless. "Yeah right."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"I see you. Every day writing in the cemetery. You call that healthy? What, is that supposed to be you moving on? Huh?"
Empty rebuttals hung on your tongue.
There was no use. You tried. You really did. You never asked him to move on. You never asked him to forget. All you wanted was for him to heal. For him to be better than you were. For him to have a chance at happiness. But Jeremy, oblivious to the full damage behind his words, scoffed once more at your paralysis. "That's what I thought. I'll see you at home."
And with that, he walked away.
You contemplated going after him, to apologize or lend a helping hand with the search, but after a moment of consideration, you decided the best thing to do was to head home.
◇◇◇
When you stepped into your house, the last thing you expected was to see your aunt imitating a burglar.
But alas there Jenna was, rummaging through Jeremy's things and tossing it around as if she were completely done with life.
"Jenna?" You called out, frowning as your aunt flipped through a bunch of porno magazines. You winced, wondering how she'd react when she found the lightsaber you'd bought for him with your mom's stolen credit card last year.
Jenna didn't look up. A bitter response rolled past her lips. "Yep it's me, the hypocrite patrol." She tossed the magazines in the basket where she'd found them but didn't bother to cover it back up with the layers of clothing that were scattered on the floor. "Remind me to burn those later."
You smiled uneasily. It was from your aunt that you adopted your sense of humor, but now she looked like a flimsy yarn sweater that someone yanked the string on. "You're not having a psychotic break, are you?"
"Surprisingly, no," Jenna answered, finally glancing up at her concerned niece as she stood up.
"What happened?"
"Your ass-hat of a history teacher shamed me good yesterday."
"Damn. You got Tannered," You commented, saying a phrase former students had coined to describe their teacher's manipulative and crude techniques. "Don't worry, it happens to the best of us."
"'Discover the impossible, Ms. Sommers'," Jenna quoted, her octave rising with each word. It sounded like she was trying to get the words out before she choked on them. "Got it. Thanks. Like I didn't know I was screwing up."
"You're not," You assured her gently, grabbing her hand. You helped her up and plopped yourselves on Jeremy's bed, facing each other. You cringed at the empty chip bags and crumbs on his blanket. Note to self: Tell Jeremy to clean his room.
"Yes, I am," Jenna exhaled. "And you know why? Because I'm not her."
Her. Miranda Gilbert. Your mother and Jenna's sister. It was hard enough being the crackhead example that could never do anything right, the screw-up who was constantly being compared to her older, more perfect sister who excelled in every aspect of her life. And now she had to dive into parenthood, the one thing she most definitely couldn't do.
Five months ago, she could barely get her own life on track. And now she had to take care of not one, but two human beings that hadn't fully developed? That could pick up her habits, that she could screw up mentally with just a single move?
"She made everything look so easy," Jenna went on, exhausted. You couldn't tell if it was because she was tired of life or because she was using every bit of resistance to fight her tears. Perhaps it was both. "You know, high school, marriage...having you. I can't do it. I'm gonna say or do the wrong thing, and he's gonna get worse, and it's gonna be my fault. It's impossible."
You sighed. You'd been trained not to comfort people in times of crisis, but now you were free to say the things that you wished someone had said to you. Maybe if they had, you wouldn't be so broken and scarred.
"Hard...but not impossible," You said soothingly. "I know you're scared, tackling a new life. But this is new for all of us. We're all going through this together and it might feel like you're alone but you're not. You're just the only one being honest with yourself."
"How am I supposed to do this?" Jenna lamented, her beautiful emeralds reflecting sadness as she thought of Miranda, the woman who could do it all. "John was right. How am I supposed to be a parent?"
"I don't know, Aunt Jenna," You admitted. "But what I do know is that as a kid, I looked up to you. You were my idol, my favorite person in the entire world. I used to talk about you like you were a superhero. Remember that one time I dressed up as you for Halloween and I had to convince everyone I wasn't a sexy version of Daphne Blake?"
Jenna burst into laughter as she recalled the look on Miranda's face when you'd darted downstairs, dripping with sparkles and diamonds and of course, revealed skin to really get into character. "I remember that. Your mother was absolutely horrified—she didn't talk to me for a month after that."
"She could be like that sometimes, yeah." At the time, you had been offended, but the things you'd do to see her mother in such a disturbed condition again. The last memory you had of your mother was her screams rippling through the water. You took a deep breath, switching off the memory and refocusing on Jenna.
"There's a reason I held you in such high esteem. It's not because of the things you did, it's because you always had the strength and courage to do them even if you doubted yourself. When Mom and Dad died, Uncle John didn't step up. You did. Even though you didn't know the first thing about being a parent. We were all scared out of our minds and you got us through that. And I know you didn't get the chance to grieve properly or the luxury of falling apart because you were so hell-bent on keeping Jer and I together but...you're brave. And you're strong. And I'm extremely grateful for that, but it's okay to be vulnerable too."
It's okay to be vulnerable too. If someone had told you that you had the right to feel in the trauma center, that your emotions were yours and they were valid, perhaps you could do the things you wanted in life.
Like tell Bonnie and Caroline that you went to a trauma center. Like tell Jenna that the trauma center wasn't a place of healing and recovery; it was Hell. Like tell Stefan that you liked him, of course you liked him, and even though you didn't know what it entailed, you were willing to find out with him.
But you couldn't be open. You couldn't let anyone see the deep sadness you locked away. Letting your vulnerabilities run wild made you feel alive, but turning it off helped you survive. And you'd often had to ask yourself which was more important. But with Jenna, it was a no-brainer. You didn't want her to be anything like you. You couldn't let anyone get hurt at your expense; what was the point in surviving if you couldn't protect the ones you loved?
"So be vulnerable," You urged softly. "Let your guard down. Go go watch Titanic a million times and cry your eyes out until you fall asleep."
Jenna sniffled. "But it's a school night."
You fought back a grin. "Go, Jenna. Jeremy will be here soon, I'll make sure he doesn't get into anything."
Jenna looked into her niece's eyes. And for once, it was almost like she could really see you. Everything you'd been through, the things you'd turned into because of it. But within a moment, the perception vanished. "I love you, Y/N."
"I love you too, Aunt Jenna," You said, pulling your aunt into a warm embrace. Jenna smiled and kissed your forehead in a motherly gesture, before rising to your feet and strutting out.
You exhaled. The moment Jenna, the strongest woman you knew, broke, was the moment you were entirely done for. You stood up and glanced around the room. Vicki was always high, drunk, or both, and even her room was cleaner than this.
Entangled in your overbearing thoughts of Jenna and Holly and the trauma center, you shuffled around the room, fetching Jeremy's smelly clothes and tossing them in a hamper accordingly. You snatched the blankets off the mattress and whisked them to the laundry room, wondering how Jeremy could survive this long without any sense of purpose and hygiene.
As you strolled through the halls, a faint chime interrupted your thoughts. You pulled your phone from your pocket, expecting to see news about Vicki, but instead found yourself looking at an unknown contact flashing across your screen.
UNKNOWN
Hi.
YOU
hi...who is this?
STEFAN
Hot back guy.
A feeling stirred in your stomach...like someone had released a butterfly and it was trying to get loose. Before you could stop yourself, an exhilarated giggle escaped you. Stefan.
YOU
how did u get my number?
STEFAN
Bonnie gave it me. She told me you were big on texting.
You didn't think it was possible for your smile to grow any wider, but the mention of your friend was enough to make you look like the cheshire cat. The logical side of you wanted to scold Bonnie for this. You knew that letting Stefan in could lead to no good. You'd cut the more-than-friendship rope before it'd fully tied you together because you refused to let him see you. But...another part of you wanted to jump up and down and shout "Bonnie, God bless your soul, you are the wingwoman of all time!"
YOU
I am.
There was a pause. Your grin faded...was he typing? Thinking about what he'd say next? Regretting ever texting you in the first place? It would be for the best...but you hoped he'd make things worse.
STEFAN
Y/N?
YOU
yeah?
STEFAN
I don't think you're selfish. And for the record, I like you too.
You bit your lip, struggling to hold back another smile, but found you couldn't stop yourself from the small expression of happiness. You didn't want to.
YOU
gn stefan :)
STEFAN
Good night, Y/N.
You turned off your phone, laughing, and practically skipped to your room. Romantically, you'd never felt so strongly for anyone, not even Matt. This was something new and exciting.
Singing to yourself, you floated to your room, ready to flop into bed and have pleasant dreams for once. But once you saw the silhouette by the balcony window, you felt as if you were in a living nightmare. Your breath caught in your throat.
He's here.
Your heart raced, threatening to pump straight through your skin. You took a small breath and flipped on the lights, expecting to see a slender, innocent-looking man with curious, murderous eyes. But your eyebrows flew up when you realized who you were looking at.
"Bonnie?"
Bonnie grimaced, a pool of tears in her eyes. "I know, Y/N," She admitted in a broken whisper. Your heart plummeted to your feet. You shook your head. It was as if someone had torn the wooden planks from beneath you. You leaned against the doorway entrance for support, praying this was all a dream.
"No..." Not her—anyone but her. Anyone but your best friend.
A stray tear rolled down Bonnie's face. It was almost as if just talking about it hurt her. And you understood—it hurt you too. Every day. "I know what you did."
This can't be happening, you wanted to scream. Suddenly, you wished he'd come. Anything was better than this. Anything was better than Bonnie knowing. But you didn't say that. Instead, the next words that slipped out of your mouth were, "You can't tell Caroline."
Requests/Drabbles: (TVD) Damon Salvatore- My Girl
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This girl's night had been planned for nearly two weeks now, so when the girls piled into the car to drive over to Bonnie's house it was a show to just beginning.
Caroline had brought the best smelling pastries. A new bakery had open up just a few days ago, she said it was treat for all the shit we had been going through recently.
Elena had grabbed about eight dozen movies off her rack at home. Tonight's theme was romcom, I had brought the wine. A few different bottles of wine.
The drive back to Bonnie's was filled with light chatter, and lots and lots of 2000's music blaring through the speakers. The fall weather was a nice touch as well as the leaves were crunched beneath the car's tire, and our feet.
We all giggled with excitment as we tired and were not successful in making the three butt couch a four butt couch. With Elena putting in the first romcom of the night, I was okay with pouring four large glasses of wine and ditching them out to their owners. Caroline and Elena were shoulder to shoulder as I and Bonnie sat pretty much ontop of each other.
It was nearly two more romcom's later before I was a giggly, content women dancing around with Elena in the living room. The ending of 'Pretty Women' was playing, my cheeks felt hot and warm to the touch.
"Elena I love you so much…" You said dragging her to touch our foreheads together. "Aww, I love you too." The air filled between us with the smell of white wine, and pastires. She giggled, so I giggled.
Caroline was fast asleep her cheek pressed into the side of the couch, and half the blanket covering her curled up body. Bonnie wasn't anywhere around, but the sound of clinking and clanking coming from the kitchen gave her away.
"Bonnie! Where'd you go!?" I screamed, yelled into the space between Elena and I. A murmured shh, came from Caroline's lip. "I'm in here you goofs." Bonnie asnwered. She didn't seem that drunk, or at least a little buzzed. "Come one sit back down Elena and I wanna watch 'nother movie." Your words starting to mumble together.
"No I called Damon, to come pick you up." Bonnie declares. You go to pout, but the thought of Damon makes me all warm, and shivery. "Okay." You don't argue with her anymore, rather you take a seat on the edge of the couch. "He said he'd be here in a few maybe ten minutes." Bonnie tells me you nod, and start to wait.
"Come on Elena, let's get you to bed ya." You can hear Bonnie talking to Elena and then a tiny grumble but nothing else. Footsteps that are loud at first, and then quiet as the two of them make their way up the stairs and to Bonnie's guests room.
Lights come through the blinds of the house, and it's just a moment later when there's a knock on the door. You jump up, rushing towards to the door. When you open it Damon is standing there with his hands on his hips. Staring at you. "Come on honey." Damon says as he stands there waiting for you at the door's frame.
"Okay." You say dopely with a smile on your fface. Grabbing your pruse at the front of the door, and grabbing his hand to walk down the stiars of Bonnie's front porch. Before the two of you can get very far Bonnie is calling out Damon's name. "You take care of her Damon, she's had at least four large glasses of wine. She pours a lot." Damon rolls his eyes, "Of course BonBon." Damon's voice echos through the tree, and night sky.
You cling to his side, as he walks you to the side of his car. The slick blue where you almost see your reflection through the paint. "You should have told me you were having a girls night." Damon says as he opens the passengar door for you. You grumlbe under your breath. "I did Damon, you just forgot." You whine.
Damon comes down to face level with you. Grasping onto the buckle to bolt you into the seaat for the ride back home. Your hand comes up to grab at his cheek. Trying to pull him in closer. "Whatever you're thinking of doing just don't pretty girl." Damon says. The latching of the buckle clicking, and before you know it the door is slamming shut and you watch as Damon walks around the car to the drivers door.
It's not until Damon is driving down the main street to get to the Salvatore residence that your hands get a mind of their own. They go from your lap, to tangled together, to just one of your thigh and the other traveling, in search of the meaty thighs of Damon. When you do finally manage to grab onto the meaty flesh the car swerves a bit. Making your shirek with both excitment and fear. "Missy if you don't put… move your hand." Damon demands. "But what if I don't wanna?" You say shaking your head in his direction. "Love, I know you okay. I know what your playing at and it's not happening." Damon says trying to control his voice.
"I'm not playing about anything." You can barely see Damon shake his head. You move wiggling beneath the belt, to get somewhat closer to Damon. "Please I just wanna touch you Damon!" You beg him. You can feel the heavy air that blows from his nose as he tries to push you away from him as he's driving down the road.
"NO." Damon says adamently. Pushing your wandering hands off his thighs and into your own lap. "Now be a good silent girl, and just sit there until we get home, and then you're going to bed." Damon demands. You huff, but sit there silently.
Just waiting to get home to annoy him further.
Veiled Secrets - Caroline Forbes x fem!reader
Tumblr media
[summary: where reader is finds out caroline is a vampire.]
Masterlist
The town of Mystic Falls was no stranger to secrets, but when you arrived, you couldn't have imagined the depths of darkness that lay beneath its picturesque surface.
Caroline Forbes, a vibrant and popular figure, had caught your eye from the moment you set foot in the town. She was quite the ray of sunshine that stood out in the small town atmosphere of Mystic Falls. Little did you know, her life held a secret that would forever change your perception of reality.
As you settled into Mystic Falls, your paths crossed with Caroline more often than not. The two of you ended up collaborating on a charity event, your personalities surprisingly complementary. Caroline's boundless energy and your thoughtful nature created a balance that drew you closer.
One evening, as you helped her set up for the event, a slip of her hand revealed something that left you speechless—a flash of fangs. Your heart raced as your mind raced to catch up with what you had just witnessed.
Caroline's eyes widened, a mixture of panic and vulnerability in her gaze. She could feel her breathing quicken and her heart had begun to race miles a minute, "(Y/n), I can explain."
Stumbling over your words in shock, you finally managed to find your voice. "You're... a vampire?"
Caroline's nod was barely perceptible, her voice tinged with sadness. She was silent for a moment before saying, "Yes. It's a secret I've been keeping from everyone."
As the truth settled in, a whirlwind of emotions swept over you. Surprise, fear, curiosity—it was a potent mix that left you uncertain about how to proceed.
You had read a lot of fantasy books and seen many movies about vampires before and was quite entertained by the idea. There were even times you wished you could be one. Though, when your once thought ideas had now become a reality, you were quite lost on how to respond.
Over the following days, Caroline shared her story with you—the struggles, the fears, and the need to protect those she cared about. As you listened, you realized that beneath her seemingly perfect exterior, there was a vulnerability that she rarely showed to anyone.
As your connection with Caroline deepened, so did your feelings for her. You were drawn to her Despite the revelations, you found yourself drawn to her strength and the way she had faced her reality head-on. But a nagging question remained—could you truly be with someone who existed in a world of darkness and danger?
One evening, as the moon hung low in the sky, you found yourself at a crossroads. Caroline stood before you, her gaze uncertain. "(Y/n), I understand if this is too much for you, if you can't accept what I am."
Your heart ached as you looked into her eyes, the turmoil of your emotions evident. "Caroline, I can't deny that I care for you. But I also can't ignore the fact that your life is dangerous, that being with you would mean stepping into a world I never knew existed."
Caroline nodded, a sadness in her eyes that mirrored your own. "I understand."
The weight of your decision settled on your shoulders as you turned away, your heart heavy with the knowledge that the love you felt might be forever out of reach. You felt a light wind blow by as your now ex-girlfriend sped away.
As usual, the days turned went by, Mystic Falls continued its intricate dance of light and shadow. Your connection with Caroline remained, a bittersweet reminder of the love that could have been. And as you watched her from afar, you knew that some secrets were destined to remain veiled forever.
warnings: i wrote way more than i thought i would, got carried away. anyway, there's a decent amount of angst because i wasn't really sure what to do with it, but i know julie plec likes to make her black characters suffer so i guess i was going with the natural rhythm of the show? might write a part two because i had way more in mind for this request, but i wanted to get it posted asap so... anyway, hope you enjoy and thanks for sending in a request!
summary: you've known stefan and damon since the 1860s, and befriended katherine when she reached the salvatore residence; back then, she just seemed to be a free-thinking woman to you. you were already supernatural, but you still couldn't have anticipated what was coming. out of guilt for allowing this to happen to your friends, you fled and traveled the world to forget. until stefan reaches out to you about there being someone in mystic falls who looks eerily identical to his old flame.
note: ayana (the witch who mentored esther) is your mother, because... again, going with julie plec's natural rhythms while giving reader (and bonnie) much better wigs/wardrobes
2009, mystic falls high school
driving to school for the first day of junior year was supposed to be fun. until your friend elena nearly died, and her parents did. until elena broke up with matt, and bonnie started showing signs of becoming a bennett witch. until there were strange news reports detailing "mysterious animal attacks." now you yourself knew that you were remaining in control of yourself, volunteering at the hospital and gaining access to the blood bags often enough where you were strong but not enough to raise suspicions (so you hope). you've been using your magic, inherited from your mother ayana to age yourself with the scooby gang of mystic falls, as you affectionately referred to them. how you've been able to pull off what you believe to be the greatest magic trick of all, returning to mystic falls, virginia after hundreds of years, without the knowledge of a mikaelson or a salvatore... your mother would be proud. those dear salvatore boys, i hope they're well. and i pray they never find out about elena, after how they both reacted to katherine, it can only end in disaster round two.
as you enter the dreaded high school building, you plan a list of tasks for the day:
get through the day, and be there for elena & jeremy
organize your planner, and make sure you have all the syllabi needed
research bonnie's bloodline to help her through her transition into the supernatural world, as it's obvious the bennett magic is coming to mystic falls
figure out how to tell your friends about the supernatural world, as you've got a feeling it's closer than they could ever imagine
as that last thought passes your mind and you reach your locker, a familiar feeling washes over you, a deja vu moment. you've learned to never ignore these when they happen.
1864, mystic falls, virginia
you remember running around the gardens surrounding the salvatore estate, teaching the boys what each herb meant in your practice. you remember meeting katherine and currently wince at the memory of this coming up, with elena now sharing the "orphan" trait in common with... the vampire who caused your friends to die. your greatest shame was not being able to protect them from her, not even knowing she was a threat until the damage had already been done. but most of all, you remember young stefan, and his eagerness to learn about the nature surrounding his home, being entranced by the concept of basic magic. before katherine, those were your salvatore boys. and you didn't need compulsion to create those friendships, those feelings.
you look around, coming out of your foggy state, to see a face you know could not belong to anyone else. realizing your deja vu was trying to warn you, you quickly cast a spell to ensure stefan does not see you. as the salvatore, alive and well as it seems, continues to walk to the office, you notice the stares of girls (and guys) in the halls, chuckling at how young stefan has gone from being so shy to being the center of attention. regardless, you know that you must remain hidden, and hope that your friends will remain safe. in the back of your mind, you begin to wonder whether stefan could be the reason for those "mysterious animal attacks," but brush it off and go to your first lesson of the day.
final bell rings
as you race away from the timberwolves sign, you wave to your friends and make your way over to your afterschool shift at the grille, hoping to complete the "girl next door" facade with a classic: a minimum wage job, waiting on tables full of your classmates and older creepy town losers. speaking of the scooby gang, you spot bonnie (and realize you forgot to complete number 3 on your daily tasks), elena and caroline making their way over to their usual table in your section of the establishment.
"ladies, what's all the commotion? tell me i didn't miss one of coach tanner's epic meltdowns by opting for ms. olsen this year," you comment as you add yourself into the conversation, deciding to take your 15-minute break for a catch-up session (and to at least complete number 1 one from your list, to make sure elena and jeremy are coping). the girls giggle as caroline begins to gush about a new hot guy, with whom she would have shared a june wedding if he wasn't totally swooning over elena in front of the boys' bathroom.
"caroline, you make it sound so much worse. i was checking on jeremy, who is smoking by the way," elena says while smiling at you. trying not to show too much shock as it's a difficult time, you make a mental note of returning back to it at a later time. elena continues, "he was walking in and i was walking out, and we... we may have flirted a little. it was nice, but i'm sure it's just new kid adjustment." you pray it's not the same new kid you're hiding from, but brush off the feeling. mother ayana would laugh at you now
caroline rolls her eyes and gleefully turns to the table, "well look who just walked in. if it isn't elena's new man, searching for his high school sweetheart." you sense caroline means well, you just hope she's not feeling too hurt, knowing she is still dealing with insecurities. hoping to join in on the ribbing, you turn your head at the same time as elena. while elena turns back to the table, you break eye contact with stefan, trying not to show your fear of being discovered and massively failing. bonnie gently touches your arm, trying to bring you back, "(y/n), you okay? you look like you've seen a ghost." the ghost is getting closer to the table, to your friends, to you, the one who left.
"stefan, hi. how was your first day at mystic falls high?," elena innocently bats her long lashes, not realizing you'd make a quick escape while muttering something about the end of your 15 minutes and praying that stefan chalks it up to there already being one doppelgänger from his past. the boy does not believe that for a second, which you will soon find out.
you finish your shift, trying desperately to push your past to the back of your mind, but constantly being reminded of it all. flashes of stefan's smile, his kind heart... his heart no longer beating like a mortal's would. and so, you wipe down tables, take orders, carry trays around, clean up the pool table to prevent stains from "sweaty cups" (as your sweaty manager calls them). you clock out before the late shift, ready to go home, back to your grimmoire and figure out a plan, and try to still get some homework in; when you suddenly get the feeling you're being watched on your walk home, but turning to see no one there. then suddenly, you're pulled into an alleyway. you bare your fangs at your attacker, hoping this will end peacefully, only to find yourself staring at the face you've been trying to forget and avoid. mission failed
"the great (y/n) returns. never thought you'd grace mystic falls with your presence as long as i lived," stefan smiles sadly, hurt by his old friend's actions. you stand there frozen, having gotten rid of the fangs but refusing to open your mouth, scared of what you can say to him. i'm sorry i abandoned you just before your transition, leaving you and your brother with emily instead of looking out for you two as i had promised? i'm sorry for not protecting you from katherine til it was too late, but i'm glad she burned in the church? i'm sorry i never tried to find you once i realized katherine might have returned, only to realize it was someone who looks freakishly like her? i'm sorry i wasn't there for everything, because i truly did miss that smile? i'm glad i can still see that smile today, and i wish i were the cause of it? nothing would do, and so silence would have to suffice.
"(y/n)? it is you, right? elena told me you had to get back to your tables. the small town charm thing really suits you." god, the more stefan tries to be friendly and keeps smiling at you like it's still the 1860s, the more the guilt eats you up. you know it's not right, but for now, it's what you believe is best. you tilt your head back up, facing him once more, taking a deep breathand slightly shaking your head like a mental etch-a-sketch. no matter what, this is stefan, and you will not compel him unless absolutely necessary (please let this be the right choice, you pray to your ancestors).
"hi," you say lightly and chuckle at your lame response, trying to add a smile at the end so maybe he won't hate you. "i was wondering if that was you that i was seeing. makes sense it'd be in the same place... so what brings you back?"
"not much, just trying to be better. two familiar faces in one day is a lot to take in though," stefan replies, still unsure of how to feel. while elena may not be katherine, for which he is extremely grateful, you are still you. he never could forget you. the same you who smiles at him and says, "i'm sorry, really. i didn't know you'd be here, and if you ever saw elena i wasn't sure how you'd react. she's really nice though, and it might be weird with the... same face thing," you laugh at how wild your sentence is beginning to sound, "but she really does seem to like you. she's been going through a lot but she's a real sweetheart."
"so we're just going to talk about your cute friend and not why i haven't seen you in--" you cut him off. "it's been 145 years since we last saw each other, yes." you take another deep breath, hoping this time the guilt will stop leaving such a strange feeling in your heart. it does not. "perhaps we could talk more while you walk me home? my family, my adoptive parents, they're expecting me back from work." he agrees, happy to spend more time with you and catch up, though a part of him feels conflicted. all that time spent together when you were younger and he was mortal, led to him developing feelings for you. but after potentially starting something with elena, someone you seem to be pushing him towards, stefan walks alongside you back to your house... while wondering if chasing a phantom face is better than chasing the real thing.
Author's Note: I have written a second part to this one-shot that I posted many moons ago, here is a quick reblog to hopefully get it into circulation again before the new part is posted. I never planned for a second part, but it kind of happened anyway and I think it works well. I thought it would be fun to explore the aftermath of this event, and how it would affect some of the characters of Mystic Falls. Keep in tune! It should be up within the next day or so.
The afternoon was rather peaceful. Caroline had asked you to do one of your paintings for the festival that the town had coming up and you suggested that you do a live painting. You were pleased by how excited she was and decided to head off into the woods to find ingredients for your own paints.
“This has got to stop.” Klaus said as he approached you. He had come from the woods in the dissection of the house you were all staying in. He looked rather irritated, you deduced that Elijah had gotten a hold of him. He hadn’t been overly happy when he found out that Caroline had become rather invested in your art and wanted to spend more time with you. You stopped inspecting the plants, stood, looked his way and crossed your arms.
“Because you’re going to lose?” You asked and rolled his eyes. You continued collecting the plants you needed and turned back towards town.
“Because I always win. You get into some sort of fit. I stake you for my own safety and then Elijah is a nuisance about it for weeks.” Klaus explained. You hummed thoughtfully.
“Ah yes. For your own safety. So you admit that I am more dangerous than you?” You pressed and grinned wickedly.
“More insane than I am.” Klaus muttered.
“Oh! I believe humans think self-awareness is a sign of growth so… congrats on that.” You vanished from sight in a blur, leaving Klaus behind.
******************
“There’s (Y/N).” Caroline said excitedly. Damon and Bonnie looked in the direction that she pointed. Bonnie frowned when Damon made a strange noise.
“That? That is (Y/N) Mikaelson.” Damon said slowly. Caroline turned to him. Seeing he was being genuine she looked back over at you, then back at him. This time his face was twisted with irritation.
“No. She would have said.” Caroline insisted. Damon tutted his tongue as he ran it over his teeth.
“Nope, that’s Klaus’ sister. Some people say she’s worse than him.” Damon muttered. You looked over their way and Damon found himself compelled to duck down behind Bonnie who laughed loudly until she felt the powerful aura coming off you and stepped back herself. The kind of laugh that refuses to be contained.
“I’m going to talk to her.” Caroline said firmly. She caught your eye and gestured for you to follow her out to a quiet spot.
“It’s true.” You muttered. She stared at you. “What? I can hear pretty well, you know.”
“Right… but… You didn’t say.” She said firmly and you shrugged.
“People expect me to be as bad as him so I just don’t mention it.” You answered.
 “Not exactly true.” Klaus said. You both turned and found him sitting on the corner of the high wall behind you. Shooting a glare his way you turned back to Caroline.
“Are you really going to listen to him?” You pressed. She glared at you both, turned and stormed off. “Wonderful. Now look what you’ve done.”
“I’m just making things fair.” Klaus said before he vanished the same way you had earlier.
You tried to pick your way through the crowds of people to find Carolein but couldn’t. Deciding that you would get back to your painting and talk to her the next time you saw her you resentfully settled into your workstation. You had many people coming around the stalls stopping and gawping at you as you painted. Though none of them were Caroline. When you were done you got up again and tried to find her. It wasn’t until the end of the event that you overheard her arguing with someone, pushing your way through the crowd until you reached her.
“This has all been on big trick.” Caroline snapped. You saw who she was talking to and sighed. Of course, it was Klaus. “I like your sister. I have for a while and yes her being your sister and related to you is her biggest obvious flaw but we all have some and as of yet I don’t have a way to kill you! So I’ll have to overlook it. I am not something the two of you can compete for or win. The fact that you took me telling you that I liked her as a challenge just shows me who you really are!” Caroline snapped. You cleared your throat. Caroline looked past Klaus to you and became obviously nervous. When your brother turned to you he glowered darkly. This was not going to be something that went away with time, it certainly wasn’t something that Elihah would be able to mediate.
“Sorry. Am I interrupting?” You asked with a smug smile.
Together
Tumblr media
Female hybrid reader x Hope Mikaelson
Warnings: Mentions of death and blood, and murdery tendencies?, anger/rage issues.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Can I go now" You huff, leaning back into the un-comfy arm chair across from Caroline Forbes, the headmistress' desk. Where she's sat, hands folding on the desk.
"No. You started a fight between two other vampires, killing one of them and almost killing the other." Caroline states, anger clear in her tone.
"So? They were annoying me and wouldn't. shut. up. They kept on going on and on about how much stronger they are than I am, even though I'm a damn hybrid. And so I snapped. Kind of. If I snapped all the way they'd be bloodied up way worse and both'd be dead. Not. just. one" You ground out, eyes turning an amber yellow and your veins appearing under your eyes.
Caroline shudders back and removes her hands from the top of the desk.
"Hmm, not so tough as you claim to be, or want to be seen as" You chuckle, not bothered with the caution and fear in her eyes and body stance.
"Oh come on, Blondie, no hard feelings, right?" You smirk and stand from the ugly chair, leaving the office with a mouth hanging open Caroline in your wake.
"Wait-ugh" Caroline huffs, giving up before she herself faces the consequences. She's annoyed with how easily you can get under her nerves and how, and she hates to admit it, she's a bit scared of you.
You have more than anyone has kept count of people you've murdered, and one more just got added to that giant never ending list twenty minutes ago.
Smirking, you walk down the hallway and head to your room. Once you got inside and shut the door, you sigh in relaxation when your head hit the pillow on your bed. You pick up the book from your bedside table and flip to the marked page you left off on.
"Please don't tell me what everyone is saying is true" Hope bursts into the room, slamming the door behind you. You look up to your girlfriend from the book and sigh.
"Is it really that bad?" You say sarcastically. "Yes, it is! Are you alright? Did something happen beforehand?" She exclaims, worry evident in her voice.
"Depends what you mean by 'something'" You relax back into your pillow.
"God, what were you thinking? Why did you kill that boy?" She huffs, sitting down on the foot of your bed.
"Well he was annoying so I fixed the problem" You shrug your shoulders in boredom. "Killing people is not a way to fix your problems, Y/n. Haven't we been over this before?! I swear we have" She's on the verge of yelling.
"So what if we have? You knew what you were getting yourself into once you started dating me, death, killing, trauma, the whole damn nine yards. Just like you. Except for minor differences obviously!" You stood up from the bed, crossing your arms as to not lash out and hurt your girlfriend. Even if you are fighting at the moment, you still care about her.
Sometimes you can't control your rage and you've ended up hurting people you love.
It all surprisingly got easier when your girlfriends father, Klaus Mikaelson, turned you into the only living hybrid this day. And ironically you ended up dating his daughter. Yeah, you're life is kinda...weird? to say the least.
Hope followed by standing up and tried reaching out to you. "No" You step away, backing into your desk. "Don't come any closer, I don't want to hurt you" You clamped your hands over your ears, holding tight until you couldn't hear anything but your thumping heart.
"You won't hurt me," Hope sighs. "Look, I know how the anger you feel is heightened, even more so than mine, but I'm here for you. All you have to do is let me in. And maybe ease up on the spontaneous murders." Hope walks over to you and pulls your hands away from your ears.
"At least at the school" She finishes. Baby steps, that's where she'll start. You chuckle in between deep breathes. "...Fine. We'll work on it. Together?" You slowly say.
"Yeah, together" She places a kiss on your lips.

Requesting Rules / Information
🔹updated 6/1/24 ~ requests open (but i’m going through it so i’ve been slowly lately)
🔹initial notes:
this is a side-blog, so if i respond to comments or follow you back, you might see my main (in bio). i don’t actively try to keep my blogs too separate, though, i just post stuff i write here so i don’t clog up my main.
there’s very little that i won’t write, but if you’re uncertain about something, just ask!
don’t hesitate to ask any questions. i’m shy, but i promise i’m nice!
🔹 fandoms / characters i write for:
the vampire diaries / the originals
kai parker x reader
kol mikaelson x reader
elijah mikaelson x reader
rebekah mikaelson x reader
poly!mikaelsons x reader
caroline forbes x klaus mikaelson
kai parker x bonnie bennett

mon-el x kara danvers

theo raeken x reader
theo raeken x liam dunbar
🔹definite no’s:
any kind of kink involving scat, fisting, or stuffing
i haven’t been asked to write these, but they’re not for me to attempt
most kinks should be fine otherwise
🔹not a no, but i’m still learning how to write these:
yandere
bdsm
🔹what i’ll write for dark(er) fics:
consensual non-consent / cnc
non-con
dubcon
incest
abuse
🔹 other notes:
above all, kai is my favorite to write 😉
all fics will be fem!reader unless specified in the request
although some might be gender neutral if they turn out that way or i just feel like it
in regards to age, if i write smut for a character canonically under 18, i will age them up appropriately, or make obvious tags to anything underage
if you request a poly!mikaelsons, specify if you want finn or freya in it. typically my polies are just the main four, but I can add them, too, if preferred
more details in a request are always encouraged, but i’ll work with what’s provided. it may take a little longer, though, if more vague
sometimes, i might be a little slow to posting, but i will try to never let requests sit for too long. thank you in advance for your patience!
Again, I’m not an 18+ or 21+ blog, despite occasionally writing smut. I do request readers to be at least 16, however, and may block anyone younger if I choose to do so. You are responsible for the content you consume, and I tag everything meticulously, especially the darker or smuttier works. I am trusting my readers to look at the tags and to know their own boundaries. If something’s not for you, please click off of it. I just know that I used to read any and all types of fics when I was 16+, so I feel like telling my followers & readers they can’t is hypocritical. So while I don’t require a certain age, please be wary of what you read.
Thank you for being here. ily 💗

9. the fatalist
Tumblr media
summary: you spontaneously visit the boarding mansion, but it's not stefan who awaits you.
pairings: damon salvatore x reader, stefan salvatore x reader
warnings: none
word count: 2.2K
YOU WEREN'T USED to running. For you, everything was all about poise. You could be doing something you absolutely hated, as long as you looked good doing it. But after you were sent to Coral City's Trauma Center, you changed. Before, you had values, morals, a specific set of rules that guided you through life and your relationships. Then suddenly...you didn't.
The adjustment was difficult, but you tackled a fresh mindset and embraced your new identity with style. So the concept of you knocking on the door of a boy you met only a few days prior was something that would turn almost anyone's head.
Even as you rang the ancient doorbell, you couldn't help but laugh. The mere idea of you awkwardly standing outside, waiting for someone to answer, was absurd. But now it was you. And only you, since after five minutes of waiting, the only thing that greeted you was silence.
For a moment, you thought you had the wrong address. But you'd seen the picture Caroline sent you, a photo undoubtedly obtained by her casual stalking, and a place like that was hard to miss. It didn't even look like a house. It was more like a mansion you'd find in a horror film or a murder-mystery.
Reluctantly, you slammed the door knocker four times. The door creaked opened. You gasped quietly. Peering through the narrow opening, you realized you had three options.
Either you could wait a little longer and risk looking desperate, go inside and risk looking invasive, or you could leave. Nobody would know that you were ever there, which could save you some dignity.
Opting for the third choice, you followed your nature, and turned to go. You hadn't even walked two feet when a black crow nearly crashed into you. You yelped and ducked instinctively, covering your head with your hands, and then whirled around to find yourself gazing into the mesmerizing crystal blue eyes of a handsome stranger.
"Oh my god," You blurted out, placing a hand over your thumping heart. The stranger towered over you, smirking mischievously, and tilted his head to the side as if to say What's this?
"You must be Y/N," The man replied coolly. There was something about his tone that made you feel...off. It was charming and alluring, like the bright tip of a flame waiting to burn you. "I'm Damon, Stefan's brother."
You frowned. Brother? "I didn't even know he had a brother."
"Well Stefan's not one to brag," Damon joked. You chuckled softly. He reached his arm out, motioning for you to come forth. "Please, come in. I'm sure Stefan will be along any second."
You followed him inside and shut the door behind you. "Do you always keep your door open like that? I mean aren't you afraid of anyone getting in?"
"Nope."
"Then you must be pretty confident in your self-defense abilities," You said, but Stefan's brother was so unresponsive you weren't sure if the words actually left your mouth. As you looked around the enormous home, you noticed there was no security system installed. And Damon looked like a man who could defend himself. "Wow. This is your living room?"
"Living room, parlor...Sotheby's auction," He quipped. He stopped beside you. Your eyes wandered the room in awe. Between the regal rugs, chairs, lamps, and paint job, it was easy to say Stefan and his family had exquisite style. They'd really embraced the whole vintage vibe in a beautiful way. "It's a little kitschy for my taste."
You nodded slowly, but even you couldn't hide your surprise as you marveled at the setting.
"I see why my brother's so smitten," Damon said, turning to face you. You looked at him. Stefan was smitten? Had he...talked about you to Damon? That was a good sign, at least. "It's about time. For a while there, I never thought he'd get over the last one. Nearly destroyed him."
You furrowed your eyebrows. You didn't expect someone with Stefan's face to stay single forever, but there was something about his tone that didn't seem right. He was trying to tell you something and it seemed like he was trying to let you know that without making it obvious.
"The last one?" You asked, painfully ignorant.
"Yeah. Katherine, his girlfriend?" Damon said, frowning insincerely when he saw that puzzled look on your face. "Oh, you two haven't had the awkward exes conversation yet."
You smiled politely. "Why linger in the past when there's a whole future ahead of you, right?"
"Interesting mindset," He replied, pretending to ponder your words. "It's too bad he's not looking for a relationship, he could really use someone like you in his life."
"We're just friends," You murmured, hoping to salvage some control over this conversation. Technically, you were being truthful. You were just friends—the reason you'd showed up was because you'd hoped you could be more, but you were beginning to regret it.
Damon nodded. "That's good. I would hate for you two to get involved when he's on the rebound. We all know how those relationships end."
You smiled. "Have you always been such a fatalist?"
Damon chuckled softly, keeping his eyes trained on you with a pleased smile stretched across his face. "Hello, Stefan."
You turned to see Stefan standing by the entrance. "Y/N." His eyes were fixed on you, but he looked like he wanted to burn a hole in someone's skull—and you had a feeling it wasn't yours. "I didn't know you were coming over."
"Yeah, uh, sorry," You said, stepping toward him. "This was kind of a spur of the moment thing and I really didn't think this through. It's stupid, I know, I just-"
"Oh, don't be silly," Damon intervened, coming to your side. "You're welcome any time. Isn't she, Stefan?"
Stefan didn't respond. Instead he just stood there, paralyzed, his thickening gaze boring into his inattentive brother. Or maybe Damon did notice the way Stefan was staring at him with such flaming eyes but simply didn't care.
"You know, I should break out the family photo albums or some home movies," Damon went on. You struggled to keep your eyes on him when you could practically feel Stefan's impenetrable, long look. "But I have to warn you. He wasn't always such a looker."
"Thank you for stopping by, Y/N," Stefan spoke up monotonously, darting his eyes to you occasionally but maintaining Damon as his primary target. "Nice to see you."
If poison had a voice, that would be it. You couldn't pinpoint exactly what was going on, but the only thing you did know was that this wasn't your problem and you weren't going to make it yours. The tension between the two was incredibly palpable, suffocating even. You'd never felt anything like it. You never knew that family members could hate each other so much.
"Um, yeah, okay," You said awkwardly, taking Stefan's lingering gaze as your cue to leave. "It was nice meeting you, Damon."
"Great meeting you too, Y/N," He replied. Without tearing his gaze from yours, he lifted your hand and pressed his lips against your knuckles.
Caught off guard by his gesture, you stood there in a daze and smiled forcefully before turning to the other brother. You opened your mouth to say something to Stefan, but quickly shut it and gave him a small nod of acknowledgement before scurrying out.
And this is why I don't run.
◇◇◇
By the time you got to your house, you were exhausted. On your way there, your bike tires blew out so you'd been forced to walk halfway, and it'd been lifetimes since you walked such a great distance. All you wanted to do was take a relaxing shower and sleep. But you learned a long time ago that life wasn't there to cater to your desires. You didn't know exactly what its purpose was, all you knew was that when you arrived inside, Bonnie and Caroline's laughter floated through the house.
You followed their voices to the kitchen and stopped. "What are you guys doing here?"
Bonnie looked away from the pot she'd been stirring on the stove and smiled. "Oh, hey, Y/N! Jenna and I are just making jerk chicken from Grams' recipe book and Caroline is baking some cookies for tomorrow night."
"Yeah but enough of that," Caroline said, setting the bowl of batter down so she could prop her elbows on the counter and listen intently. "How'd your talk with Stefan go?"
"Well...I went to his place... and according to his brother-"
Caroline and Bonnie turned to each other and traded confused looks. You didn't speak silence, but still know exactly what they were—or weren't—saying.
Did we know he had a brother? Caroline asked and you couldn't help but stifle a laugh. She figured Caroline of all people would know the answer to that. Bonnie shook her head; Nope.
"Yes, you heard that right," You confirmed. "He has a brother. And before they got into that weird tense family moment, he told me that Stefan is looking for a rebound, not a relationship. Maybe this is a sign."
Caroline scoffed. "You can't be serious. A sign? Please. That is complete bullshit and you know it."
You blinked. Caroline wasn't one to curse very often.
"You barely even tried!" Caroline continued. "We've been friends for almost a decade, and I know that when you want something, you take it. That's why we have such a great dynamic!"
"She's right, you know," Jenna chimed in, stopping to chew a chocolate chip cookie. "It can't hurt to try again."
You stared at her with uncertainty. It could definitely hurt. It could hurt you. Besides...Holly didn't want you to start new relationships. There was too much that could go wrong. Too many questions that could be posed. "I don't know, it was a long shot anyway. I mean, you saw how things turned out with Matt."
"Yeah, we did," Caroline agreed. "And I wanted to gouge my eyes out with a pitchfork but-"
"Graphic."
"But I've seen you with Stefan, and it's..."
You watched her expectantly, waiting for her to finish the sentence. "It's what?"
"...different."
"What she means is watching you two interact doesn't make innocent bystanders, such as us, want to scrub our eyes out with bleach," Jenna offered, and Caroline nodded perkily in agreement.
You blinked at the pair. "Wow. Is that really how you guys felt when Matt and I were dating?"
"Well, I mean-" Bonnie started to say, but Caroline cut her off.
"Yes," The blonde practically exhaled, as if she'd been waiting to get that off her chest for years. But Caroline had never been one to bite her tongue—you wondered what the sudden confession was about. Especially since she seemed to be interested in Stefan herself. Why help you out when she could easily eliminate the competition?
"Moving on..." Bonnie continued, giving Caroline a warning look before turning to you with a warm smile. "You're finally happy. Really happy. Don't let your fear ruin that."
"What fear? It's not like I'm scared," You scoffed, grabbing a knife to chop vegetables. But after a brief moment under Bonnie's watchful eyes, you sheepishly looked up, biting your lip. "And if, hypothetically speaking, I am, what exactly do I have to be afraid of?"
Bonnie smiled sadly. "This is the happiest you've been since your parents died. And no offense, but you tend to be a little..."
"Pessimistic?" Caroline offered. "Cynical? Apathetic?"
"Yes..." Bonnie responded, a little irritated as she looked over at Caroline, who was too busy tasting her batch to notice. "But believe it not, the world isn't going to catch on fire because your life is good. And even if it does, I'll see it coming."
You laughed. It seemed this psychic thing was going to be a running gag and inside jokes in their lives. You didn't mind. It was nice having things almost return to normal.
"And," Bonnie went on. "Caroline heard from Bobbi, who heard from Kelly, who heard from Cristina, who heard from Margaret that Stefan is going to be at the festival. Maybe you two can patch things up when you get there?"
Caroline smirked. "And if you're really lucky, maybe you two can-"
"I think I wanna focus on a little soul-searching first," You interrupted, fighting back a smile. Your transformation was astounding, to say the least. Four months ago, you probably would've found a way into his pants, but you'd come to appreciate the internal beauty of those around you.
"Trust me." Caroline lowered her voice. "You'll have time to do plenty of searching."
"Caroline!" You and Bonnie exclaimed before bursting into giggles. Caroline smiled proudly while Jenna struggled to fight back a grin.
"This is why I'm the fun one," Caroline commented, pleased with herself.
"Whatever," You scoffed and threw a dish towel at her. Caroline squealed and tried to dodge, but it landed on her face. You and Bonnie erupted in a fit of giggles, and Caroline, though irritated, couldn't help but join in.

All of You {Caroline Forbes}
Tumblr media
Warnings: cursing, oral sex, fingering, soft!Caroline
Pairings: Caroline Forbes x Fem!Reader
Summary: You had never experienced oral sex before so, your girlfriend Caroline helps you out.
Word Count: 800+
You sat there on your bed thinking. You had never had oral sex before or had done anything sexual before but, you were finally ready to try something out. The only thing was, you were nervous to talk to Caroline about it.
You knew that she would not deny you but, you just felt embarrassed to talk about it even though she is your girlfriend. While you were deep in thought, Caroline walked in with a bottle of water. She set it down on her nightstand then looked at you.
"Are you okay baby?" She asked. You jumped a little when she brought you out of your thoughts.
"I- uh... yeah. I do need to talk to you about something though." You said. She tilted her head confused and then sat down on the bed beside you.
"Okay, what is it?" Caroline asked.
"I- it's just that.." You paused for a minute. She corked her brow. "I- sorry... I'm just kinda embarrassed.." You admitted. She smiled a little and then rubbed your arm gently and soothingly.
"It's okay baby, you don't have to be embarrassed around me." She said. You nodded.
"It's just that... I've never experienced anything, well... sexual before." You mumbled. She nodded now understanding what you were trying to get at.
"Ohhh.. okay." She said with a nod.
"Yeah and I- I was just wondering if maybe you would like... help me." You mumbled and your face went flushed when you said it. She smiled seeing how much you were blushing. She always thought you looked so cute when you blushed.
"Sure, I can help." She said smiling.
"Really?" You asked finally making eye contact with her again.
"Of course. I love you baby and I would love to help you out." She said with a smile. You smiled back. "So, what did you want to try out first?" She asked.
"I- uh- I don't know.." You said. She sat there and thought for a minute then smiled when she got an idea.
"What if we did oral sex? So it would be pleasure just for you?" She asked.
"I- but what about your pleasure?" You asked.
"Baby, this is about you, not me. I want this pleasure to be only for you since this about getting you use to all these sexual things." She said.
"Okay." You said with a nod.
"So, you are sure you want to do it?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure. I want all of you." You said. She nodded and then helped you out of your shorts and panties. Once your bottom half was bare you laid back down on the bed. She got on the bed too and then spread your legs wide.
She gently spat onto your pussy before rubbing it in. You gasped softly and bit your lip, muffling your whimper. She laid down on her stomach before diving in. You gasped and moaned out when she did so.
She sucked on your clit gently making you moan more. You had never felt this way ever before but, the feeling was fucking amazing. Your ran your hands through her hair as she ate you out. She then began to tease your entrance with her fingers.
You let out a whine when she did so. She smirked a little against your pussy at how needy you were for her. She then gently thrusted one finger into you. You moaned out a little loudly when she did so.
She thrusted her finger in and out of you slowly, not wanting to overstimulate you. You moaned out and threw your head back when she picked up the pace a little bit. The feeling rushing through your body was euphoric.
You then felt a knot begin to form in your stomach. A knot that you had never felt before. You whimpered a little when you felt that knot.
"I- I feel a knot in my stomach." You said as you whimpered.
"Don't worry baby." She said soothingly. "That just means that you're going to cum." She said against your pussy. You nodded. She kept fingering you and sucking on your clit which eventually pushed you over the edge.
Your legs began to tremble and you threw your head back as you had your first orgasm. You clenched around her finger as you came hard. Once you finished your high, she took her mouth and fingers away from your pussy.
You gently pulled her down so you could kiss her. You could taste yourself on her lips. She pulled back and smiled at you.
"How was that?" She asked.
"It felt... really good." You said as you bit your lip. She smiled and laid beside you, pulling you into her arms.
"Good." She said with a chuckle. You smiled and laid there in her arms for the rest of the night.
a/n: I hope y'all enjoyed this story!
