Meet-up in London? ❤ 🐍😊
Hiya! :) So I am arriving to London tomorrow evening (25 July) and I'm thinking we could do a meetup on 26th during the day and tour together filming locations of S1 connected to AC? :)❤
Discord to discuss this :)
Meeting place: Tavistock Square :) (map)
Meeting time: 11 am July 26 :)
Plan: (feel free to use even if you don't want to meet up :)): We would meet at Tavistock Square and then made a few stops in the center where some AC scenes were filmed. We could have a walk on foot to some places if there's nice weather? Lunch somewhere on the way. No idea how long this will take us but I would like to be at 16 at the cinema to be sure to get in :).
1) AC in Berkeley Square - Tavistock Square - Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9EU, UK
Google maps link
Closest Underground Station: Euston Station
The scene in Episode 6 with Aziraphale and Crowley was filmed in Tavistock Square.
I think here we could regroup, so some photos and slowly head way to number 2, number 2 open at 12 but it would be nice to have some time to spare if anyone was running late <3 (tell us tho).
2) AC reuniting - The Enterprise pub - 38 Red Lion Street, Holborn, London, WC1R 4PN, UK
Google maps link
Closest Underground Station: Holborn
The pub where Crowley is getting drunk in Episode 5 and is reunited with Aziraphale. If the Google opening hours are right they should open at 12.
3) "We had crêpes!" - Duke of York Monument, Carlton Gardens, St. James's, London SW1Y 5AH, UK
Google maps link
Closest Underground Station: Piccadilly Circus
The stars on which Aziraphale and Crowley leave the park in Episode 1, Crowley tempts Aziraphale to lunch and they speed away are filmed at the Carlton House Terrace Street.
4) AC meeting place at St James's Park - St James's Park London SW1A 2BJ, UK
Google maps link
Closest Underground Station: Piccadilly Circus
Aziraphale and Crowley's meeting place at St James's park that we can see in Episodes 1,3,6 :).
4) Bandstand Breakup - Battersea Park London SW11 4NJ, UK
Google maps link
Closest Underground Station: Battersea Power Station
The AC breakup in Episode 3 :'(. And not far from there Aziraphale and Gabriel talk in Episode 4.
6) Entrance to Hell and Heaven - Broadgate Tower - 201 Bishopsgate, London EC2M 3AB UK
Google maps link
Closest Underground Station: Liverpool Street
The entrance to Heaven and Hell in Episode was filmed in the ground floor of the Broadgate Tower. Internet says it is open 24.hours.

Hey can I get some johnny cage x fem reader angst where Johnny cheats on reader with sonya :(
Cardigan.
hi! thank you so much for the request. i'm not sure if i'm really good at writing something so emotional, but i tried my best.
tw: cheating.
GIF BY SOLIDSMAX ON TUMBLR.
REQUESTS ARE OPEN!!! also, for those who might be interested, i'm writing a multi chapter story in portuguese and i'm wondering if i should translate to english and post it here. can give yall some details later...
enjoy, beijos!
You knew.
It was obvious, undeniable. The inappropriate whispers, the quick glances full of malicious intent, two glasses of wine in the living room when he was supposed to be alone at the house you both shared. Nobody could ever close their eyes to something so painful, not even you, with all the love you had for him.
Johnny Cage always had wandering eyes, something you used to find funny. The mischievous, flirty jokes that attracted you remained there, but it was a matter of time for the target to be someone else. But John Carlton seemed different than Johnny, the cinema icon. John looked at you with sweet eyes, something that only existed for you, on that you could be sure. It was all yours. Until it wasn’t.
For some time you asked yourself why. But there wasn’t an answer. You accommodated him, made room for him in your life, saw him fail in directing all those films, watched the fights he won and took care of him in the ones he didn’t. You were not the reason. The reason didn’t exist. But you had to ask.
“Why?” You asked, the silence so uncomfortable you almost could touch it, in the bedroom that used to be yours. He didn’t answered. “Is it because she is a lieutenant? You liked the adrenaline?”
One last piece of clothing was put in your bag, a cardigan he had gave you long ago. He remained in silence, in front of the door, almost blocking it. You wanted a reaction, cries of apology, screams and pleads for you not to leave: there’s nothing. It is impressive that Cage is not speaking up.
"I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs, knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired"
He finally says something: your name. Eyes down, full of tears that don’t fall, an ocean blue stuck at his chest.
“And you can’t even say you’re sorry”
“I am.”
You had showed him all of your scars, he had kissed all of them, drawing constellations of stars in your skin and your heart. Now, he was becoming another one. One that would hurt do leave and take longer to heal.
“You don’t need to stay. Just say you forgive me.”
Even in this moment, he was still Johnny Cage. The one that wanted to feel good about himself. No mistakes, he wanted to be perfect.
“It’s too soon for that, John. You need the green light of forgiveness? Can’t give you that right now."
You close your bag. It’s done. On your way out, you ask yourself if tou can forgive him one day. But today, you only want to forget.

3AM Thoughts: Benedict Cumberbatch x Daniel Brühl
It makes so much sense to me that amongst all of the Hollywood A-listers Daniel Brühl got to work with in his career, only Benedict Cumberbatch attended/was invited to his wedding. (Referring to something mentioned in "A European in Hollywood", an Arte documentary about Brühl. The video with English subtitles is no longer on YouTube but for those who don't need translations, you can see it HERE.)
I can picture them animatedly conversing for HOURS over wine and tapas, phones ignored unless it's family calling, totally present. They just have so much in common: the curiosity, warmth, and depth that come across when they speak and reflects in their eyes; the sharp wit and self-deprecating humor paired with their goofy and playful nature; the effortlessly refined, cultured, and self-assured manner they carry themselves with; their talent for languages and voiceover work; their passion for acting and the likeability and vulnerability they bring to their characters however morally questionable; the sense that they can't comprehend the good fortune they've been dealt with (and despite their gratitude feel embarrassed by it); the way they always persevere to use their platform for a humanitarian cause (perhaps related to previous item); how grounded they've remained despite everything and the boundaries they've drawn with their private lives.
Their rise to worldwide fame also has a similar pattern. Though both have been around for a long time, doing chameleonic work with their roles, they were often overshadowed by the bigger names in their Hollywood projects. For Cumberbatch, it was his role as Sherlock that changed everything. Overnight, the pedophile in Atonement became a sex symbol... just like that. For Brühl—who's had a golden career in German and world cinema since his 20s—it was his role as Helmut Zemo that made him recognizable and beloved to a mainstream audience. After his playful take on the Baron in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, rabid fans were more than willing to forgive and/or forget that he bombed a UN conference AND tore the Avengers apart in Civil War.
I even see a parallel in how they've mostly had long-term relationships and only got married in their late 30s. (If Wikipedia is to be believed, both at age 39.) Unlike celebs who marry and divorce all throughout their lives, you get a sense they take commitments seriously.
And what about their names?? You thought Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch was a mouthful? Try reciting the litany that is Daniel César Martín Brühl González Domingo.

ASK EDDIE returns Thursday, September 21, 7:00 PM PT to our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/filmnoirfoundation/live
FNF prez Eddie Muller responds to film noir fan questions fielded by the Foundation's Director of Communications Anne Hockens. In this episode, we discuss Eddie’s short story “Doc’s Oscar”, the essential Italian noirs and film museums, the disreputable noir characters of wholesome TV icons, memorable bell tower scenes, and more. We wind up the show with a discussion of our favorite film noir openings. On the cat front, Charlotte and Emily are too tired to participate.
Want your question answered in a future episode? We solicit questions from our email subscribers in our monthly newsletters. Sign up for free at https://www.filmnoirfoundation.org/signup.html
Everyone who signs up on our email list and contributes $20 or more to the Film Noir Foundation receives the digital version of NOIR CITY Magazine for a year. Donate here: https://www.filmnoirfoundation.org/contribute.html
Can’t join us on Thursday? No problem! A recording will be up on our YouTube channel, @NoirCity, on Friday, September 22: https://www.youtube.com/user/NoirCitySF
Note: Eddie will not be able to answer questions posted during the livestream nor ones left on our social media accounts
This week's questions:
In a recent episode, Eddie highly recommended the film ROSAURA AT 10 O’CLOCK [ROSAURA A LA 10]. Is it possible for ROSAURA to be restored by the Foundation and made available through Flicker Alley?
Michael, Post Falls, Idaho
Just read your short story, "Doc's Oscar", in the JEWISH NOIR VOLUME 1. Can you give us a little background on its origin? When did you write it?
Jay and Connie, Ann Arbor, MI
I'm planning a trip to Italy. Please recommend your essential Italian crime/noir films. Also, I hope to visit a museum dedicated to cinema. Any ideas
Steve in Mississippi
Have you read “Somewhere in the Night: Film Noir and the American City” written by Nicholas Christopher?
Sean Land O Lakes, FL
For me one of the biggest surprises of seeing familiar actors in Film Noir was seeing Raymond Burr as the heavy. What other later-known actors are the biggest surprises for someone getting into Film Noir.
Carlton, Atlanta, GA
Why does Eddie sometimes use the alias "Eddy von Mueller" for some of his Blu-Ray commentary tracks?
David
The late-'60s and the '70's are thought of as the time of the great neo-noir films, but what about offerings designed to play at drive-in theaters or so-called grindhouses? I'm also curious about regional films or filmmakers since that era was rich with localized film production. Are you aware of any that could fall under the mantle of film noir?
Kathy and Michael, Rockford, Illinois
In the past Eddie has mentioned certain movies that he considers to be more “message pictures” than full blown noir for him. I would love to hear you both talk about what the difference for you is between movies like NO WAY OUT, CROSSFIRE, FORCE OF EVIL etc. and movies that have tinges of Noir but fall into the Message Picture category and maybe some examples of those and why they don’t make the cut. Thanks!
Nathanael from New Braunfels, Texas
I recently watched the Douglas Sirk 1951 film noir, THUNDER ON THE HILL, and noted the similarities between the bell tower scene in that movie with the great bell tower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 VERTIGO. Are there other films noir that include a bell tower scene? And, more generally, what other films noir have great staircase scenes?
Cliff in Fort Collins
Wondering if you know anything about scenes cut from THE MAN I LOVE DVD. The film is listed as being 96 minutes long, but the DVD version is only 90 minutes.
Michael, Chicago, IL
My question is about some very difficult to find Alan Ladd titles, specifically, CHICAGO DEADLINE with Donna Reed and SAIGON. Are these Alan Ladd films tied up in litigation or bound in some type of financial dispute? Is there any hope for their release in the US?
Don
Openings. I have always been fascinated by the first 90 seconds of noir films and I’d just like to pay tribute to my favorite openings and listen as you add in yours as well.

Having more Cecil and Carlton thoughts- they totally would’ve snuck into the cinema to see rated R horror movies when they were like 13
Especially funny considering Carlton’s mom is a cop— you’d think that’d make him want to follow rules more but no him and cici were little crime commiters <3
#cheshiresmilefnafau#love them having thoughts about them#it was 198-something nobody was watching them#which is bizarre considering THE MURDERS like Betty .. Clay… it’s 10pm do you know where your child is?? /ref

The Kids' Music Tastes, In My Verse.
Adrian Forman: Loves Alien Ant Farm, Papa Roach, Daft Punk, and Linkin Park. The kids make fun of him for liking Coldplay, until "Viva La Vida" comes out and James likes it. Is introduced to old school jazz via the Fallout series, and definitely takes a liking to it.
Ashley Tate: Is a huge fan of The Cheetah Girls, Destiny's Child, B2K, Usher, Christina Milian, Ciara, and Ashanti as a tween/in her early teens. As an older teen, she loves Ne Yo, Rihanna, Jazmine Sullivan, and Chris Brown (until he shows his true colors). Is the biggest Beyonce stan you will ever meet.
Becca Hyde: Is the biggest Zeppelin fan out of the kids, and is also a big fan of Blondie, Heart, and Fleetwood Mac. Loves 90s grunge, like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Smashing Pumpkins, and other 90s staples like No Doubt, Alanis Morissette, and Garbage. Loves "quirky" pop like Billie Eilish, Lorde, Marina and the Diamonds, Lana Del Rey, Lily Allen, and The Veronicas.
Betsy Kelso: Loves Pink Floyd, The Doors, and AC/DC. Was a big fan of New Kids on the Block as a kid. She still likes REM, the Barenaked Ladies, and Smash Mouth.
Hannah Kelso: Was a huge Backstreet Boys fan as a tween, and liked(s) One Direction as an adult. Is the devout Swiftie of the group, and loves country music, too.
James Hyde: A big fan of The Black Keys, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, Eminem, Fort Minor, Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys, Hozier, and The Killers. Gets Leah to like The 1975, and Leah gets him to like Franz Ferdinand. He has a soft spot for Mumford and Sons and Of Monsters and Men, but he can't get into The Lumineers and Bleachers (*stares at Leah*).
In terms of older stuff, he's a big fan of Zeppelin, The Stones, The Who, The Doors, The Eagles, Steely Dan, and the Allman Brothers Band. He has a soft spot for Elton John and James Taylor. Isn't a fan of the harder stuff, like Jethro Tull, the Ramones, and the Sex Pistols, amongst others.
Kate Forman: Has a mix of her mother's love for singer/songwriter stuff and her father's love for soft rock.
Old stuff: Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King, James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Bread, America, Elton John, Wings, and The Beatles.
Newer stuff: Adele, Lewis Capaldi, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, Five for Fighting, Coldplay, Sara Bareilles, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Sixpence None The Richer, Norah Jones, Michelle Branch, KT Tunstall, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Vanessa Carlton. Has a soft spot for Natasha Bedingfield.
Leah Forman: Is a huge Parawhore. Also loves Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, The Cab, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, The All American Rejects, Franz Ferdinand, and Blink 182. Loved Avril Lavigne and Pink, before they sold out, around 07/08. She has loved The Beatles, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Weezer, and Green Day since she was little. Also enjoys Muse and The Killers.
Later on, she's a fan of Neon Trees, Bleachers, The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, Two Door Cinema Club, Walk the Moon, and Mumford and Sons.

On the occasion of the honorary poster of the 76th Cannes Film Festival, I am posting some selected portraits I have taken of Catherine Deneuve from 1983 to 1996, for 15 years.
The first was in 1983 at the Carlton fumoir with her director friend #andrétéchiné and a few more to come...more on the fb page https://www.facebook.com/studiorassias Faces of 7th Art.
Deneuve remains the heroine of French cinema, with excellent films such as ''Les Parapluies de Cherbourg'', ''La Belle du Jour'', ''Tristana'', ''Le Sauvage'', ''La Chamade'' '' etc...and as the magazine reports Elle ''this time, the high mass of the seventh art has chosen to pay tribute to a French icon: Catherine Deneuve.
A poster produced by Hartland Villa (Lionel Avignon, Stefan de Vivies), from a black and white snapshot of Jack Garofalo, taken on the set of "La Chamade", on the beach of Pampelonne, specifies the press release
