There were a lot of regulars at MoMA, a sea of faces that Daniela learned to recognize. Some would come very often just to appreciate the same handful of works, some came every time there was a new exhibition, some brought someone new to see the museum each time, some were always with the same companies, some liked to see the art by themselves. There were those that Daniela never got to talk to, those who she only spoke to once or twice, and those who became good friends. Among all of them, there were two in particular that Dani considered family. She knew baby Ivy since literally before she was born, and seeing Carlotta bring the little girl in was always a highlight to her day. She spotted the two of them in front of Water Lilies, the biggest Monet painting for view, and she walked up to them with the biggest smile. “Hi, Lottie, how are you?” She greeted, giving the blonde a hug. “And how’s my favorite baby museologist doing? How are you, neném?” She made her sweetest baby voice and offered her arms to Ivy, who was her favorite child in the the world altogether. Daniela was not the biggest kids person, but she had a soft spot for that one, cute nicknames in portuguese and all.

Biography

Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, Carlotta Valeron-Fairfax nee Moore was the youngest of three children with two older brothers. Her parents, both working throughout her whole childhood were loving but removed, hence their children being brought up by a ripple of nannies who came in and out their very large family home regularly. Her father was the president of Airborn Dynamics, a company that is best known for providing weapons to the US military, a job that made the man a lot of money on top of a lot of enemies. Her mother worked as a Chief executive at the same company which was how the two of them actually met, although both were lower ranking at that point.

When she was sixteen Calotta’s oldest brother Charlie enrolled in the navy and soon after the younger brother Trent joined the Amy. It had always been a given that the two boys would become members of the armed forces in one way or another, but that didn’t stop the girl from feeling a loss at them no longer being at home with her anymore. The large house they lived in became even more empty without the two boys, a lot of the day she was the only one home, fuelling a determination in the girl to do something that got her out of the house. Problem was she never actually acted on that feeling, instead just going out to bars with her friends, partying, not to mention spending more than her fair share of her family’s income at the local mall.

One afternoon she was hanging out in the food court with her then boyfriend when a modelling scout spotted the blonde, promising her fame and fortune if she signed up for their agency. Normally this would have been the stuff of lies but this was actually a genuine offer which was how she became a Sports Illustrated model despite her parents protesting. She loved it because it was a chance to travel the world, be given free clothing, spend time on the beach, not to mention everyone around her would tell the woman how stunning she was at all times.

When the CEO of the magazine company came to set one day with his childhood friend David. The woman instantly caught said friend’s eye, swiftly he started putting the moves on her, which the blonde found exciting and flattering. He offered her an elevated quality of life even beyond what she’d had growing up, and the girl was sucked in. Even though he was married at the time he managed to convince Carlotta over the course of a few days that he was in love with her, embarking on what turned out to be an eight year affair the two of them had together. He showered her with gifts, sweet words, flew her all over and even bought the girl her own apartment on the Upper East Side. All to keep her silent, but in her mind it was because he truly did see a future with her.

Carlotta thought she was living in a dream, and it stayed like that for a while until everything became a nightmare one day on a Jamaican beach. Frolicking in the waves with her hair tumbling around her shoulders Carlotta was doing what she did best, but everything around her started to go weird, people were whispering and looking at her with real concern in their eyes. Starting to panic she had no idea what was going on, but all became clear when the producer of the shoot was charged with the job of letting her know that her brother Trent had been caught up in a IED explosion while on an outreach mission and had lost his life at the scene. In the back of her mind she’d always known it was possible for something like this to happen, but still it was an event that rocked her family to the core. Her mother withdrawing into herself becoming a shell, her father blaming himself, and none of them had any idea what was going on with Charlie because he was deployed on an unknown mission. She felt at sea all on her own, which was why she turned to David for the support she needed and he seemed to think the way to placate her was to divorce his wife and propose to the girl. A knee jerk reaction that everyone else could see, but not Colette, who was rapidly becoming the queen of denial.

That was three years ago, they got married on the beach near her hometown and five months ago the couple welcomed their first daughter, Ivy. David Valeron-Fairfax has been cheating on his new wife ever since the two of them said I do and everyone can see it, but she swears down to the ground he has eyes only for her. Even when he goes away for weeks on end, leaving the woman alone with their daughter in the huge house they own. In fact she finds the size of the house when he isn’t home so lonely she has bought her own apartment to stay in during this time, taking Ivy without telling him, she will go on an extended ‘vacation’ for this time. Plugging the holes in her heart with designer shoes, handbags, clothing, and jewels, she looks every inch the happy go lucky socialite that in incredibly aspirational. Attending premiers and events as David’s little trophy she gets to do things others could only dream of, but she’s aware that this is because of his achievements rather than her own. She’s vacuous, but not stupid.
