Violet was three years ahead of her age group in school. He was protective over her because of how young she was compared to her classmates and made sure she wasn’t getting treated wrongly of any sort. This made them gain a crush on each other, but Violet was too dedicated to schoolwork to notice that he felt the same way she did. I like to think he kind of went up to Seattle to follow her after she got shot, wanting to make sure she was okay and not alone as she healed. They started getting close again and now old feelings are starting to come back and it’s up to them to realize it themselves.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1991, Aiyanna “Aiya” Rose Villanueva is the second child and only daughter of Lorenzo and Calliope Villanueva.  Aiya was born and raised on a ranch where her father trained horses all of her life and her mother was an RN, so while they weren’t exactly rich, they did live a perfectly normal life. Aiya was an above average student, loving to read and write more than anything, and when she wasn’t reading or hanging out with friends, she was playing softball. Softball became a big part of her life, and she was hoping it would be her ticket out of San Juan and to some place brand new, maybe Los Angeles, or New York, anything other than where she was right now. She loved her home, of course, but it felt like she was stuck there, destined to get married and have children and follow her mothers path.  She loved her mother, too, but she didn’t want to be her.

She came close, too close, when she was 18 years old. She was in her senior year of high school when she met a boy who just graduated from the University at a party. It was one night that threw her life into a whirlwind.  Two months after a drunken hook up, three months away from graduation, there was a missed period a pregnancy test, a crying mother and an angry father.  The decision had been made, she would marry Rafael in two weeks time, so she wouldn’t be showing in her wedding dress. Rafael, a construction worker who very much wanted a wife and a family, was on board immediately, acting the doting father to be and doting fiancé.  She cried for days and threatened to run away, but, two weeks later she was in a courthouse marrying a boy she didn’t love so he could help her raise a baby she wasn’t sure she wanted.

Two months without any sign of a menstrual cycle, Aiya was home alone, studying for her finals when she finally got it. At first, she thought it was a miscarriage, and after calling her mother and getting to a womens clinic, she found out that she had never been pregnant, that her period had been missed due to extreme stress, something called secondary amenorrhea.  Aiya had no idea how to feel, this whole time she had thought she was pregnant, had married someone, moved out of her family home into a tiny apartment with a man she didn’t love so they could raise a baby that had never existed. She didn’t know what she was supposed to do.  But she also felt like she had no choice, divorce in her culture and religion was frowned upon, and Rafael did seem nice enough, had taken care of her and given her a home.  Maybe after graduating she could go to the university here and find a job she loved.

Except it didn’t turn out like that. When Rafael learned she wasn’t pregnant he was angry, but relieved. He had been putting off taking a job in New Mexico because he wanted the baby close to their families, but now that there was no baby, he had no problem uprooting their lives. Four months after graduation, Aiya was packing her things and moving, again.  She attended a community college while Rafael built houses.

It wasn’t long into their time in New Mexico that Rafael started drinking, and the drinking led to cheating, and that, of course, led to fighting.  The first time he hit her, he apologized quickly, and she forgave him. What else could she do? She had no money to go back home and even if she did, would her mother believe her? She wasn’t sure. So she stuck around, and it continued. For two years he would cheat on her and she would call him out and they would fight, and he would get physical. Cops had been called, reports had been filed, but nothing truly came from it and she was too afraid to leave. He knew her, he knew everything about her and with nothing to her name, no college degree, she couldn’t go anywhere.  Just when she thought she would be stuck like this forever, she got a phone call. Her older half brother, her fathers son, was living in Seattle. She hadn’t seen him in years, not since he left for college when she was young. He was a doctor, and he wanted to get back in contact. He offered to pay for her to come visit for a few days, a weekend, so they could catch up. She told him she would let him know, to check with her school schedule and with Rafael.

Three nights later, Rafael hit her again, and this time, she called the cops and had him arrested, pressed charges, and with years of evidence against him.  When he finally saw a judge 24 hours later, he was remanded to custody with no option of bond and Aiya, for the first time in almost her whole life, didn’t feel stuck.  After his court date was set, Aiya agreed to testify and she went to visit her brother.  She explained everything to him, and he offered her a place to stay after the trial, and Aiya, who barely had a job, agreed.

She had to go back home for the trial, and it took months for the actual court date, but, he was charged, forced to sign their divorce papers and sentenced to five years. Aiya moved to Seattle two weeks later.

Aiya joined the police force just weeks after moving to Seattle. After everything she had gone through, she wanted to be more involved, and thought this was the best way. Her brother supported her through everything she decided to do, and let him live with her until she found her own place almost a year and a half after being on the force. After seven years as a police officer on the Seattle PD, she took her detective test. Aiya has been an SVU detective for two years,  and lives in a small apartment in Central Seattle.

Briella’s life started in a world that her mother never wanted her in. Being born to a mob boss and his wife, Briella was destined to be the next person in control of a world that was filled with violence and illegal things. It was when her mother made the decision to give the child up for adoption at around three months, wanting her to live a normal life with a family that would never be involved in such a lifestyle. That’s when she was adopted by the Scorsene family. The couple wasn’t able to have children, them adopting one child before Brie and then two after. Even though she always knew about her birth family, her adopted parents were her real parents and she knew that it was meant to be.

When she was a teenager, she watched her older brother become a model, then an actor, leading Brie to be in the shadow of David. He was living the life that sometimes put the family in the spotlight, making Brie’s life a little more complicated than she wanted. This led to her wanting more attention from the people around her and wanting control of her life. Slowly, she started to diet, which moved up to anorexia. The teen would go days without eating, only for her parents to realize it once Brie graduated high school. After sending her to treatment, she got in recovery and with two relapses, she is still fighting it and working to stay healthy. One thing that helped with her recovery was talking about it and doing some activism work about eating disorders and mental health, finding out that she was Bipolar which was what led to her downfall.

One thing that Brie loved to do ever since she was young was to take pictures. She would just take pictures of her family, then moving on to pictures of her friends, leading her to own her own photography business. It was a way for Brie to stay healthy and to show everyone the beauty that is around them. She decided to move to Seattle to be near her family, moving her business to the new city. Once people in Seattle started to see her photos, they made her business grow and she was doing all sorts of photography jobs, which included weddings and modeling jobs. Moving to Seattle also gave her the sort of new start in general when it came to her eating disorder, staying in recovery ever since she moved to the city. With a home in Northwest Seattle with a dog and a cat, the woman lives a peaceful life while doing what she loves.

Violet was born to two drug addicts who really didn’t know what to do with a child, nor how to take care of one. She was immediately handed over to her grandmother, who took care of her and raised her as her own, never telling Violet about her parents situation, other than they were very sick. As she got older, her grandmother realized that Violet was extremely intelligent for her age. It led to her grandmother getting her tested and finding out she had an IQ of 143.

Because of the high IQ, Violet went straight to second grade at the age of five, still bored of what she was learning, which led the school to let her skip one more grade. Books were her escape from real life, giving herself even more education than she had to begin with.

Graduating high school at 15, Violet went to UCLA to study psychology. This was around the time she decided to look into her parents and see what they were doing, only to find out they were doing long sentences in prison for drug trafficking. It made her want to prove even more that she was able to not turn into her parents. Around 17, she met a guy who she thought was amazing at first, only for him to beat her on a daily basis, turning the relationship into something that made her live in fear on a daily basis. Her breaking point was when he tried to kill her, shooting her in the shoulder. The healing process was long and hard, leading her to have the strength to leave him. He’s now serving life in jail for what he did to her.

Graduating college at 19, Vi move straight to Washington state for grad school, wanting to get away from the city that gave her such a painful past. It was soon after that she got a job at a counseling center for domestic and child abuse. This became her passion and she is more dedicated to her job than she is to anything else.

It took a while for her to adjust to the new city, but she knew in the longer run that she was better off. Getting a condo in Fremont and a dog named Matilda, the redhead is now able to live the life she wanted, safer and happier than where she was when she lived in California.

Born to two artists in the heart of Paris, France Lola’s destiny was nearly laid out before her. Her mother a curator and her father an Art History professor her small world view grew wide open with the amount their tiny family traveled. She saw herself as a young explorer learning all about cultures through art. Trips to the states, to South America, and all through Europe created a diverse and multicultural young woman. At the center of everything was her love for the arts. Paris, the city of love, instilled that within Lola’s bones. An English, French, Dutch, Spanish woman saw the world not as what it was, but what it could be. Perhaps it was that naivete that broke the young woman. As her family moved to the states, her father teaching in Boston, and her mother working between the Guggenheim, and the MOMA  the family life, the unit, began to crumble. Her father’s affair while Lola was finishing high school lit a flame of passionate anger the young woman had not felt before. A betrayal of both herself and her mother. It was then Lola turned dark. Charcoal sketches with red highlights now filled the endless pages of her notebook. Loss, that loss, a man who held her hand as she learned to walk, taught her how to ride a bike, and, instilled the love for the historic storytellers like Michaelangelo, and Da Vinci broke Lola’s heart for the first time. So much so the young woman did not even accept her father’s appearance at her high school graduation. The divorce took its toll on her. And it always would.

The Parisian wanted to be as far away from her family as possible. Art History, though, was in her veins as was art itself. Finding her way to the School of the Art Institute in Chicago Lola spent day after day in the archives. It was then she realized her calling wasn’t to create her own art but to preserve the art that others had already bared their soul for. Finishing her studies at a young age she then went through an apprenticeship and training on how to restore art. Perhaps dreaming of restoring her family each time the art itself was put back together. There in the darkness of the archives she felt something change within her. Loss of appetite, pain, all of which she deemed to be depression ended up more than that. One night while walking home Lola passed out. Awaking to hear the word, Cancer. Cervical Cancer. At twenty five the girl who had seen so much light in her life was told it would soon go out. Fighting for herself, Lola isolated herself even more. Throwing herself into fixing as many paintings as she could leaving crumbs that it was in fact her who had done such things.

The treatment lead her to Seattle, and in doing so an old professor found out she was in town. Within two years the cancer was now in remission and at twenty seven Lola Kinkaide was the top curator at the art museum. Living in a boho chic walk up right near the Ballard Locks Lola began to rebuild herself, as well as the relationships she lost with her family. Opening herself to love once more she fell, and fell hard for a man. One night led to a secret she now keeps. At twenty nine, with her career on the rise Lola has found herself three months pregnant. Something she thought she’d never experience due to her Cancer diagnoses. The timing wasn’t right, but how could she deny the fact that the this was the universes way of telling her what to do. The man, however, felt otherwise, abandoning both her and the child she now carried.
