the new carlos/rebecca content has me shaking. i’m trying to make myself feel better about it bc we have the same name but it’s not working. anyway have a drabble in consolation.

you were charles’ family friend, practically a little sister to the monegasque boy — it was wrong to feel like this. but carlos was, for want of a better world, crazy for you. had been since the first day you showed up in the paddock at monaco, looking so pretty and curious as you inspected charles’ car.

he’d gotten to know you since then, charles having brought you along to most of the european grand prix’s. you were funny, and clever, and absolutely perfect. you had carlos wrapped around your little finger, without even knowing it.

“i wouldn’t trust any of the drivers with her,” charles had told him one night, a little tipsy. he was protective of you, of course he was. “not even you, mate. sorry, i love you and all, but she’s special.”

so carlos had stayed away. admiring you from a distance, yearning every time to just reach out and touch your soft skin, tell you how beautiful he finds you. he wanted so much that he couldn’t have. it also didn’t help that you, clearly, weren’t quite as interested in carlos as he was in you. a one—sided infatuation, the plot of all great tragedies.

“ferrari are taking us all out for dinner tonight, are you coming?” carlos asked you one day, stirring a sugar into his coffee. you looked up from sipping your own, eyes warm as ever.

“hm? oh, i can’t. i’ve got a date.”

carlos’ stomach dropped. you looked happy, excited, and he hated it. but what could he do? you didn’t feel the same as he did, so he couldn’t hold you back from living your life.

“a date?” he choked out, chest getting tighter by the second. “that’s nice.”

“he was in the paddock yesterday and we got to talking. we’re going to some fancy restaurant tonight,” you smiled up at him, taking another sip of your coffee.

“have fun.” carlos took another look at you. one last look before he would pick up the parts of his heart and hurry away, hoping to patch himself back together. but his heart wasn’t his to fix anymore; he’d given it to you, fully, placed in your precious hands. and you didn’t even know.

hey! After reading your past post I’m curious: is there any driver you’d like to see at Ferrari in 2024?

I really really don't know.

I actually really like the pair we have rn (even if Carlos is on probation on my blog). I think they make a good team with the really fast one and the one that is always there to capitalise if things go wrong for someone else.

I think if Charles stays beyond 2024 which I assume he will it makes sense to have someone steady and dependable in the second seat. So anyone like that I suppose.

I don't think it'll be a super exciting young talent if Charles stays. But I don't have that much of a preference.

But just for the absolute chaos, I would LOVE to see Charles and Max as teammates at some point. It would be pure insanity but the battles would be absolutely epic. It will never happen, but I would love the absolute chaos so much. Either nobody else would ever win anything, or neither of the two would ever win anything because they'd keep taking each other out. But it would be so funny to see.
