He made his mark in the 1970s San Francisco music scene, most visibly with Harvey Mandel, Buddy Miles, and Santana. I met Bob after he’d turned his life over to God and devoted himself to classical and contemporary Christian music projects. He compelled me to up my game in musical discipline and expand myself as a bassist and singer.

From 1981-87 I played with Bob almost weekly in an eclectic church worship group. We fanned out into recording, pop-rock musicals, and playing in gospel vocal groups that shared bills with Zoe, a Grateful Dead spin-off w/Donna Godchaux and David MacKay (Ark, Michael Nesmith). As I worked with Bob in various projects, he introduced me to Buddy Miles, Pat Craig (Tazmanian Devils), Frank Souza, Marcus Uzilevsky, and other talents who’d affect my career in varying degrees. I feel indebted to Bob as a talented, warm-hearted musician, and great teacher.

Hero (Dead Island 2 Carla x Gen Reader)

This is for the lovely @brunos-wife360 who requested a Carla x Gen Reader and gave me some help with it, this is the first time that I have written for a female character and I hope that you all like it. I rushed the ending as I honestly didn't know what else to write.

●●Carla's POV●●

Me and Y/N were on our way to the Sterling Hotel to meet with Dr Reed after helping Kai, Trent and Alex at the blue crab.

I was watching Y/N take down a crusher when we heard the shrieking cry of a screamer which caused all of the zombies in the area to swarm us.

"RUN!" I yelled as I grabbed their hand and started sprinting out of the area and to somewhere safe. As we ran a runner came out of nowhere causing me to let go of Y/N's hand so that I could bash its brains in with my bat.

It seemed as if the hoard was growing in numbers, rotting faces snarled and snapped at us from every angle and we found ourselves being separated from each other.

"CARLA!" Y/N yelled as they were being chased in the opposite direction by four runners and a burster.

"Y/N hold on I'll help you" just as I was about to go after them an inferno crusher blocked my path and I lost sight of Y/N.

Suddenly I heard them scream, it was like the world stopped spinning and I felt myself being kicked to the ground.

'They're dead' I thought to myself over and over again as I was forced to flee towards the military base in hopes that I could make it though and get to the Sterling Hotel where the Doc was waiting for me.

●●Timeskip●●

After escaping the death pits I found myself outside of the Sterling Hotel, making my way up the stairs and following the arrows pointing to where the safe zone was I knocked on the door, where I was met by a woman holding a gun to my face.

After meeting the doc I was left to explore the hotel when I suddenly stopped in my tracks.

Over by the bar sat Y/N, I couldn't believe my eyes. Turning to Jimmy who was stood by the wall near to where I was I asked him a question "Yo Jimmy, do you know anything about the person sat at the bar?" "Na all I know is that Tisha and her friends found them and brought them here" he replied.

Saying goodbye to Jimmy I made my way over to the bar and sat down next to Y/N who didn't seem to notice me.

"Y/N, is that you?" I asked them.

"Carla" the said as they got up and hugged me.

"I thought you were dead I heard you screaming, what happened?" "I screamed because I ran into someone holding a crossbow and I was scared that they would shot me, turns out it was Tisha the Docs daughter"

●●Timeskip●●

It had been a couple of days since me and Y/N were reunited. I had just come back from the peir, where I had to face a zombie clown.

During the time I’ve been at the Serling hotel, I have ran multiple ‘errands’ for the doc in order to help me get myself and Y/N out of this shit hole of a city. Speaking of Y/N, I've been hinting at them that I like them as more than just friends but I'm not sure if they have been getting the hints.

I should just spit it out but I'm scared, I'm scared that I could ruin our friendship and lose them when I've only just gotten them back. I've been in contact with the others, letting them know that I'm ok and so is Y/N and Sam told me to "grow a pair and confess" and "don't make the same mistakes he did" so that's what I'm going to do.

Y/N was sitting in their room (which was also my room) a bottle of whisky that I had managed to snag on my last outing was on the table and two glasses were next to it.

"Hey Carla I thought we could have a couple of drinks" they said as soon as they noticed that I had walked into the room.

"I have something that I need to tell you and if I don't tell you now then I might never tell you" I said quickly before taking a breath, "I love you, I've loved you for awhile now but I didn't realise it until I thought you were dead" I told them before I grabbed the bottle of whisky and poured myself a glass.

"Carla I love you too, when we got separated I was so scared that I would never see you again that I told myself that tonight I was going to tell you how I felt" Y/N said as they took my hand that wasn't holding the glass.

We looked at each other for a moment before I leaned in to kiss them. The kiss was unlike anything I could imagine, all the negative thoughts left my head as soon as our lips connected. Pulling away slightly Y/N smiled at me, and at that moment I knew that if I had to be a hero to someone, that I would be their hero.
