Echoes of SHIMMER---Chapter One

This is an idea that came to me after watching Arcane and then watching MHA Season 1 for the first time. I was already familiar with some of the characters, having seen them in artworks before, but then I started the season and I feel obliged to create agere content following it.

This AU ultimately remains the same except for the fact regressors are known and the incorporation of Arcane subplots/plot devices.

You don't have to know about Arcane to read this story, the main concept is explained this first chapter!

In a world filled with superheroes patrolling the streets and age-regression a common worldwide phenomenon, one might expect a society built on empathy and protection—a world safer and kinder than any before it. However, reality rarely aligns with expectations. The existence of quirks created new heights of power but also depths of inequality, and age-regression, despite the understanding of vulnerability, did not receive universal compassion. Those who regress were often met with mixed reactions between support and judgment, treated as either fragile treasures or burdens to be managed.

The belief that these powers and systems would create an entirely safe world proved naïve. Not all heroes were as noble as they appeared, the promise of safety a lie upon the power-hungry outbursts. While heroes were busy protecting civilians and teaching teenagers to become pro heroes, a dangerous, covert industry thrived in the shadows of poorer districts—Shimmer, a synthetic drug designed to grant superhuman abilities, usually at a devastating cost, was produced and sold in hushed corners, preying on those forgotten, quirkless, or surviving in poverty.

The underground Shimmer trade was meant to be a forgotten part of Izuku Midoriya's past—a nightmare buried beneath layers of fear and silence. However, has anything gone right in his life? Whispers of the drug had begun circulating again, murmurs of its reappearance in districts not far from U.A. High School. What had once been a desperate attempt to grant power to the powerless had evolved into a thriving illicit market. News reports spoke of sudden surges of crime, with suspects displaying unnatural physical abilities with bulging purple veins.

At U.A., Principal Nezu informed the teachers to warn the students about the circulation of Shimmer and recommend them to remain on campus grounds and stay alert with a group if they decide to venture. Aizawa wasn't impressed, more asleep than anything against Yamada from patrolling the previous night. A quick and cheerful goodbye from Yamada made him sigh as he begrudgingly walked to his classroom.

The classroom was unusually silent, a tension hanging in the air as Aizawa entered the room. He knew that the students of the academy knew about the recent revelation of Shimmer. His tired eyes swept over the students, ensuring he had their attention bar the exception of a few regressors doing their own thing. He sighed before speaking.

"Listen up," he began, his voice low and firm. "There's been an increase in activity related to a substance called Shimmer. I'm sure some of you have heard rumours about it, but let me make this clear—it's not just another street drug. It's a synthetic substance that grants superhuman abilities to anyone, quirked or quirkless, for a limited time. The cost? Your body, your sanity, or your life."

The students exchanged uneasy glances, murmurs rippling through the room. It was obvious they were more nervous than before. Aizawa held up a hand, effectively silencing them.

"Shimmer isn't new," he continued. "It's been around for decades, circulating in the black market and evolving, preying on the desperate—those who feel powerless in a society built around quirks. The recent cause for concern is that recent reports suggest its making it's way into areas where it hasn't been seen before, including ones close to U.A. Some of you may think this doesn't concern you. You're wrong."

Aizawa's gaze sharpened, narrowing his eyes as his tone turned colder. "Villains have used Shimmer to enhance their abilities, and even civilians, primarily those quirkless, have turned to it. The consequences are catastrophic. Enhanced strength, speed, or quirks might seem like an easy solution, but the drug destroys you from the inside out. Organs fail, tumor growths on the body, minds break, and for most users, there's no coming back."

Katsuki snorted from his seat, rolling his eyes as he leaned back against his seat with his arms crossed. "Sounds like it really only affects the quirkless losers trying to find shortcuts into becoming a hero." He looked at Izuku, who was sitting at his desk playing with his fingers nervously while staring fearfully at Aizawa. He sneered at him and looked back to the front. "Damn wannabes.."

Aizawa's eyes narrowed at him. "And should one of those prescribed 'losers' attack someone you care about while hopped up on Shimmer? Or perhaps a friend turns to it, believing there are no alternative options? Power doesn't make people immune to desperation, Bakugo. You'd do well to remember that."

He sighed while the room fell silent, Katsuki grumbling to himself as he remained quiet.

"Shimmer isn't just a threat because of the people who use it. It's because of what it represents," Aizawa continued. "The gaps in society—the cracks people fall through when quirks don't solve their problems. You're training to be heroes, and that means protecting everyone, not just those who fit into neat little categories. This isn't just a lesson; it's a warning. Stay vigilant. If you see or hear anything related or involving Shimmer, report it immediately. That last thing we need is one of your asses getting involved and suffering from it. That's all for now, I'll be back, I have to report this back to Principal Nezu."

Upon the conclusion of Aizawa's speech, the room buzzed with hushed voices. However, Izuku sat rigid in his chair, his hands trembling slightly before he clambered underneath his desk. It was common for him to hide whenever he regressed, the class and Aizawa had learnt that pretty early on. It never stopped Aizawa from being concerned and attempting to speak to him about his fear. He pulled his legs up to his chest, burrowing his head into them to escape the reality that Shimmer had been revived from the dead. His eyes flickered between green and purple as he whimpered quietly to himself, hoping none of his other classmates heard him.

As Aizawa disappeared from the room, the tension and curiosity lingered like a fog. Most of the class huddled into small groups, whispering about the Shimmer and its potential dangers, sharing their own thoughts about the drug. Katsuki, however, remained in his seat, an irritated scowl plastered on his face.

"It's just a damn drug," he muttered, loud enough for a few people to overhear. "Weaklings use it because they're too pathetic to get strong on their own and the quirkless want to replicate a quirk for themselves."

Kyoka, who had been leaning on her desk and chatting with Mina, turned her head sharply. "You're unbelievable, Bakugo. Did you not hear what Aizawa just said? It's not just about the people using it, it's what pushes them to that point."

Katsuki snorted, his crimson eyes narrowing. "Oh, I heard it loud and clear. It doesn't change the fact that anyone who takes it is just asking for their own destruction. If they're too weak and useless to handle life without shortcuts, that's on them."

"That's rich coming from someone who acts like being strong is the only thing that matters. Not everyone has the same advantages as you, Bakugo. You have a powerful quirk that can protect you from so much, what about the people who don't?" Kyoka replied, straightening up, her eyes flashing with annoyance.

The room went quiet, the other students turning to watch the brewing argument. Kirishima noticed Izuku's trembling figure underneath the desk, watching the argument with fear. "Guys... maybe you should knock it off," He interjected, trying to de-escalate the situation. "This isn't the time to be arguing, you're scari—"

"Stay out of it, Shitty Hair!" Katsuki barked, standing abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor. "You think I don't get it? You think I've had everything handed to me? I've worked for every damn thing I've got, and I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like people who take the easy way out deserve sympathy!"

Kyoka didn't back down, stepping closer to him. "It's not about sympathy, it's about understanding! Not everyone has the luxury of working their way up like you did. Some people are desperate, some don't see another way!"

The two were nose-to-nose now, voices rising with every word. Around them, the class murmured nervously, some suggesting to find Aizawa.

"What, you think I'm supposed to feel sorry for them? For people who screw themselves over and then cry about it?" Katsuki glared, his gaze fixed on Kyoka who had the same amount of fiery determination and passion.

"Maybe you should!" Kyoka shot back. "Maybe if you stop acting like the whole world is some contest, you'd actually understand what Aizawa was talking about!"

Underneath his desk, Izuku sat frozen. His heart pounded as the argument grew louder, the intensity of their voices forcing him to cover his ears. The flickering in his eyes started again—green to purple, purple to green—his mind breaking itself to understand the difference between his classmates and villains. The Shimmer had appeared and he was fighting for control that wouldn't come easily.

And then it happened. Katsuki's voice hit a sharp crescendo and Izuku moved without thinking. He scrambled from underneath the desk as he stood, his legs unsteady but his resolve ironclad;

Katsuki was in DANGER.

Especially nighteye because I haven't really seen any of him yet— so I here to deliver:] and remember to drink water as well kiddo!

Aizawa 💤

💤 ; he isn't a people's person, we all know that. Preferring to keep things to himself and prefers to avoid social gatherings and social interactions. However despite not liking the idea of being a 'people person' that doesn't mean he doesn't like kids

💤 ; he doesn't know how to explain why this is, but he hates seeing kids (especially his students) hurt. And this includes age regresors. He is most likely not a stranger to the topic; teaching a whole class id guess there's at least 2 students that regress. So telling him about this was a lot more easier on your part.

💤 ; quite frankly you didn't even plan on telling him at first. After his class before you went to Mic's class he pulled you to the side. he asked you a few questions about it; and after some reassuring words you told him about your regression. He just nodded his head and that was the end of it. Right?

💤 ; well, yes and no. This didn't affect how he taught you in his class. And he didn't really lower his intensity when it came to his rough training. (Afterall, you need to learn the hard way to get better at hero work right?) However after studying your behavior for weeks, he knew when you were Regressing and when you weren't. No matter how good you can mask it, he can sense something going on. Yk, dad senses.

💤 ; he knew he can't physically do much when it comes to training. It you were to slip during mid training he will take you to the side to have a small chat. If you're nonverbal/just don't want to talk about it, he'll take you back inside the school and let you hang out in the teachers lounge for an hour

💤 ; the teachers lounge is basically your small playground because of aizawa. There's a tv, books, a pillow fort, a toy box and fidgets. Don't have it? Just ask and he'll find a way to get it into the office

💤 ; he trust me. He was on his knees begging Nezu to just bringing in the books. Took alot of begging and convincing to get Nezu to bend. But he's got it

💤 ; can and probably will hold your hand at random when you're little. Missions are scary, especially if you're little and can't handle the stress— he will always hold your hand as if spiritually telling you he was there for you

💤 ; anyone saying anything mean to you/about your regression is a good way to be tied over the highway (of course not to the intensity point to where that person is in immediate danger. But to prove a point he wasn't to be messed with. Despite it sounding cruel, nobody says anything to his students. Even the other students.) Or he might just tie the person to a streetlight and it would take hours to get down. It just depends really

💤 ; immediately protective over you. If a villian even so much as put a hand on your shoulder, better watch out. Aizawa is on a rampage and nothing will calm him down until he got you back. And he always finds a way. I can promise you that

💤 ; if you misbehaved the only thing he'd do is put you in a corner and afterwards give you a stern talking to. But don't worry, he usually cracks and he can't find it in his heart to be stern with you

Sir Nighteye 🖍️

🖍️ ; being a caregiver isn't all sunshine and rainbows for him. He's often insecure about the caregiver 'lifestyle'. Often thinking you'd be better off with a different caregiver, or at least someone who could provide alot more than he could.

🖍️ ; after him being forced to stop being a mentor for Mirio, he grew distant and stopped trying to put effort into helping students in UA. Until he met you.

🖍️ ; him being your mentor and you being his new Mentee was something he didn't agree with at first. All might suggested the idea and he was like "I guess it wouldn't hurt to try."

🖍️ ; he was your mentor for let's say,, 5 months. And you two grown considerably close. Like any mentor and Mentee would. And that's when you had to tell him. It wasn't your cup of tea, but he'd end up finding out sooner rather than later eventually. His response being "oh. I think I saw that in a book of mine somewhere.." so I think he supports?

🖍️ ; it wasn't until the 7th month of his supervision he became your caretaker all together. (With our without guardian (s)) he still looked after you. Took you under his wing when you needed it the most you could say

🖍️ ; he noticed you slipped for the first time when you had a shut down. When he saw you start to cry, he began to almost cry too. Not that he can't handle negative feelings, but it's a weight in which if he messed up he knew he couldn't make up for it (depending the situation)

🖍️ ; that day he kept you in his arms, shushing you quietly and reassuring soft words to you. Not good with actions, but has a way with words for sure

Cgs Giyuu & Nezuko/Little Tanjiro

Warnings: Mentions of Tanjiro's family's death

Tanjiro was scared. He had just been in the village selling charcoal, and on his way back up the mountain, he was feeling small, but when he saw the bodies of his family, he fully regressed.

He was so happy that he nearly burst into tears in relief when he found his younger sister, Nezuko, alive, and he started to carry her down the mountain.

He was still feeling small, though, and so he was already unstable on hi feet, and paired with the snow, he completely lost his footing and fell down one of the mountain cliffs, bringing Nezuko with him.

Once the fall had ended and they had reached the ground, Tanjiro actually did end up bursting into tears, curling himself into a ball, now feeling extremely little. Nezuko, who had gained consciousness at this point, recognized her brother and recognized that he was regressed and in distress, and she immediately entered caregiver mode. She rushed over to her brother and scooped him into her arms, attempting to calm him down.

Giyuu, who had been watching all this going on at a distance, sheathed his katana that he had had out. He had been sent to execute a demon that had been on the mountain, but he had arrived too late as the demon had already slaughtered the boy, Tanjiro's family, and his only living family member, Nezuko, had been turned into a demon, so Giyuu was going to execute her, but after what he had witnessed, he didn't think that that would be necessary. Instead, he approached the two.

Nezuko saw him coming and moved to stand protectively in front of Tanjiro, who had calmed down by now and was just quietly babbling to himself as he played with handfuls of snow. "I'm not going to hurt either of you." Giyuu stated, coming closer.

When Nezuko didn't Budge and instead became more protective, Giyuu sighed. He stopped walking forward and instead sat down. "I just want to help you two." He told Nezuko. She continued to glare at him until she felt a tug on her hand.

She turned around, and her eyes softened as Tanjiro pointed to a small snowman that he had made. Nezuko ruffled his hair affectionately before glancing back at Giyuu, who hadn't moved from where he sat, and now was blankly staring at nothing.

Nezuko sighed, which brought Giyuu's attention back to her and Tanjiro. Nezuko gestured that it was okay for Giyuu to come closer. And so he did, sitting down with her and her brother.

Tanjiro noticed Giyuu for the first time and let out a dramatized gasp. "What's wrong?" Giyuu asked, worried about Tanjiro's reaction. "So pretty." Tanjiro said, pointing at Giyuu's haori. "Oh, thank you." Giyuu thanked him.

"Mhm." Tanjiro nodded and reached out, tugging at Giyuu's hand. "Yes, little one?" Giyuu asked. "Build snowman with me and Nezu?" Tanjiro asked. Giyuu nodded, and he spent the rest of the day building snowmen with Tanjiro and Nezuko.

Caregiver Echo: Fantasy AUs are really popular for some reason? People are just really here for evil!prince!Shigaraki, I think. There's also a few childhood friend AUs or flipped roles where I'm evil and Shigaraki is just an innocent out there and I kidnap him >:)

Silvertongue Echo: mostly just a lot of different meet-cutes! People write about us meeting when Toshi's in hero form because we never interacted as Echo and All Might in canon. So lots of AUs where we meet with him rescuing me.

Caregiver Echo: I mean the whole relationship is a bit cliche so it's tropes all the way down! The fics go more into the kink stuff but it's a bit 50/50 on who they make the dom/sub in the pair. Aside from that, all the usual 'villain redemption' tropes!

Silvertongue Echo: People really lean into my mental health in the fics and write a lot of hurt/comfort with me struggling with depression and things that come with that. And as I said, lots of meetcutes.

Cat's Paw Echo: lots of romantic blood drinking and trauma coping and sharing sad backstories

💘: Why would people love your ship? Why would people dislike your ship? How might it start debates? 🙈: Why would your ship be thought of as cute/fluffy? Why would your ship be considered problematic?

Hahahahaha oh THIS is a fun one: I have to answer them at the same time because they're similar answers!

Caregiver Echo: A classic story of love and redemption!!! Take care of that sad crusty boy! The masses love to see it! As I mentioned, we're ambiguously romantic in the canon content (some fans interpret it as platonic) so we are a VERY debated ship. There's an age gap and Shigaraki is clearly not familiar with interpersonal relationships so some people argue it would be creepy to ship it romantically, while others say it's encouraging the 'afab character saves dangerous man from his own emotions' story

Silvertongue Echo: I think people who dislike this ship just think it's boring and unnecessary to the plot? Adding romance is disrespectful to the point of the story, etc. But I'm sooo charming that most people like the ship anyways: we've got a sweet plot and we win most people over to our side! We don't get a lot of discourse: some people pick a fight with our age gap but it's not really noticeable from our designs so a lot of people forget about it tbh and also I'm a proper adult so who cares aside from the real sticklers

Cat's Paw Echo: Ohohoho big discourse on this one! My character is two years older than Toga which technically makes it an adult/minor relationship and that is Big Discourse, and then other League members are even older, so that's double discourse for the people who ship it as a poly thing. Evil gay people is also a point of discourse between me and Magne and Toga being all canon queer and basically no canon queer heroes. All of that said, people who see themselves in the outcast group and just want to run around like feral villains and get loved for being themselves without making themselves 'normal' go wild for the League and also for our ship!!!

Izumi woke with a gasp that had her bolting into a seated position. Her leg was throbbing in dull pain. 

"Ow." She moaned out, it was not the worst pain she had had inflicted on her, but the tugging sensation on her skin was still painful. 

"Ah good, you're awake." Recovery girl lightly exclaimed. Izumi just blinked at the younger than she was used to seeing  heroine, not really sure what she should say. 

"I will visit your home every other day to finish healing you, Nezu agreed that having you walk here would put unnecessary strain on your wound." Recovery girl tells Izumi as she walks over with a set of crutches. 

"Try not to walk around too much until we have the muscles healed. Nezu is waiting for you in the teachers lounge." The crutches are pushed into Izumi's hands, then Recovery girl disappears into her office. 

With a sigh Izumi levered herself off the hospital bed, she felt sticky with sweat and couldn't wait to get back home to shower. The way to the teachers lounge wasn't very long in normal terms but to Izumi it felt like it took a decade. 

Once she reached the door Izumi hesitated to knock. She had never been in the teachers lounge, but her obsessive need to know the layout of the building after the first time she had gotten lost pays off. 

Taking a deep breath and shifting to be on her uninjured leg Izumi knocked, turning the knob at the same time. 

"Dad, I can go home now." She called into the room, not really thinking. 

"Just a moment, Izumi." She heard Nezu call back, along with the sound of gasps. 

Once the door had fully opened Izumi saw that there were other people in the room, she winced and blushed a little at their looks of confusion. 

The feeling of a paw patting her hip broke Izumi from her flustered thoughts. 

"Let's head home, you need to get off that leg." Nezu said, further making the others in the room look more confused. 

Izumi just nodded and awkwardly swung herself around to follow the stoat. 

The walk home felt like it took forever for Izumi, her hands and armpits hurt from the crutches, and she couldn't put any weight on her injured leg because when she did the muscles burned. 

Once home Izumi hobbled straight to the couch and flopped face down with a groan. Nezu gave a light laugh at her actions, his paws giving light clicks as the nails hit the tile. 

"I saw you talking to two of the other examinees, were they people you knew before?" Nezu asked from the kitchen, Izumi had no doubt he knew she had and was just fishing for who they were.

Izumi groaned as she rolled over onto her right side. 

"Yes. The one who helped me from under the rubble was Aizawa Shōta, he was my homeroom teacher, and underground pro hero EraserHead. His capture rates were in the ninety percent range, he was the best of the underground." Izumi had been so sure that he had been older. 

"The blond one from in the hall was Yamada Hizashi, English teacher and pro hero Present Mic, he had a radio show where you could call in and ask for advice or anything else really. His capture rate was in the sixty percent, he had been more worried about civilians that if another hero was around he took care of them first. Really great hero when you match him up to someone like Endeavour or even All Might." Izumi had lost a lot of respect for the number one hero, she had still made herself look like a crazy fan girl before she had been rewound. 

Nezu hummed at her assessment of the heros. "Well good thing that they both got enough points to enter the hero course." 

Hearing that, Izumi pushed herself up a little. "Oh, well that's another change made." She whispered softly. 

Nezu's ear twitched letting her know that he had heard her, without him even asking, she explained. "Aizawa was placed in general studies and then was moved to hero course after winning the sports festival." 

"No one has ever done that before." Nezu said with just a little awe in his voice. 

Izumi nodded, but then she had a thought. "With him doing that a boy from my year tried the same, he made it into the final round, but he lost to me when his quirk didn't work well on me." 

By this point in their conversation Nezu had made his way to the couch and situated himself where her head had been. A soft pat to his own legs told Izumi he wanted to pet her, it had been something of an awkward bonding moment the first time it had happened. 

Nezu was at heart still partly an animal, he had instincts that made him want to clean his young and cuddle with said young often. 

The first time it happened, Izumi had been sprawled out on the couch. Nezu had entered the room and had taken note of the rats nest her hair had become and suddenly he was sitting by her head claws raking through her hair gently. 

Both had been mildly surprised at Izumi going boneless as his nails scratched lightly on her skelp, it had become their preferred method of comfort over the last two years. As they both sat on the couch Izumi felt herself relax completely against her guardians legs. 

"Oh, I forgot to tell you. I made progress with the commission. Tamaki Keigo will possibly be released into my custody depending on your performance during the sports festival. Your education records had been made available to them, as well as the physiological assessment you went through regarding your teaching license." Nezu told her, Izumi felt somewhere between elated and nauseous that the commission was basing the welfare of a child on her performance. 

"That's...good?" Izumi asked hesitantly. 

"Un, if you medal then Tamiki will be allowed to have a psychological assessment from an outside source of my choosing, the phycologist will then decide who would be the better caregiver." Izumi doesn't deflate with the knowledge, but it makes her feel better that she doesn't have to place first. 

"How are we sure that they won't just pay off the psychologist?"  Izumi asks, she wouldn't put it past the commission to do that. 

"Ah, I will be picking the day of the assessment, there is also a very well worded contract that was signed by the president that any chance at bribery or cohesion would automatically put the pup in my care." Izumi smiled, she knew that Nezu would have thought of that, just she had felt better asking. 

"We are gonna need a bigger house." Izumi says, Nezu's claws press a little harder on her skelp in his surprise. 

"We only have two rooms here. You are going to get Hawks out of the commission, and from some snooping that I've done has led me to some rather disturbing things." Izumi has full faith that Nezu will have custody of the crimson winged hero the day after the festival. 

She had been hiding something for Nezu that she hadn't been sure how to tell him, but she knew that he would do anything in his power to protect children. 

"Endeavour's oldest son, in six years it's said that he dies in a training accident, he doesn't die, he runs away and becomes a villian that attacks my class. I recognized the burn patterns in some photos online." Izumi pauses, she's not really sure if it's her place to say anything. 

"Also Endeavour bought his wife from her family after threatening them. His youngest son told me about it. Told me of the abuse that he and his family went through. I…I don't know what to do, I don't have enough evidence so I didn't want to bring it to you until then, but I think with the high probability of Hawks joining our family it would be better if we could plan for a way to house Endeavour's family too until something can actually be done, we could save Dabi, and Todoroki-san from being put in a mental hospital, and the maybe Todoroki-kun won't refuse to use half of his quirk, and I don't know…" Izumi rambles, she's a little nervous at telling Nezu before she has proof. 

"So a bigger home? I think we will need a backyard if there will be more children." Izumi is dumbfounded at Nezu's simple shifting of his own plans. Izumi just stays where she is quiet and wide eyed.

Izumi had been sitting at the coffee table doing some research on what Todoroki-kun had told her at the sports festival. 

Most of her research wasn't the most legal way of doing things but her new dad had told her that sometimes bending and even breaking the law was better than doing nothing to help a person in need. 

One of the things Izumi had hacked into was Endeavour's cloud, he kept a bunch of documents there as well as photos of his children. 

None of the photos were happy, they looked to be progress photos, like the children were experiments. 

The one that caught her attention was of a six year old boy. He has snow white hair, bright blue eyes that looked like they wanted to end whoever was on the other side of the camera. 

The thing that really caught her attention was the beginning of nonreversible scars under the blazing blue eyes and starting to form a glazlo smile,  she knew those burns. 

"Holy fuck!" She yelped at the realization that Endeavour's oldest son had become one of the worst villains she had ever met. 

Snapping her laptop shut, Izumi backed away from it slowly, she was just gonna leave that all alone for now.

You probably know I was in the hospital again in August with a bad flare of Myasthenia Gravis.

"Myasthe—what? Is that some kind of Pokéman?" you may ask, but no. It's a rare, disabling autoimmune disease of the neuromuscular junction.

Myasthenia gravis means "grave muscle weakness" and that's exactly what it causes. When I'm in a flare, I can't walk or even stand; my head is too heavy to hold up; my eyelids fall half-shut; my speech slurs as if I'd been drinking for a week straight; I can't chew solid food or swallow thin liquids; and I can't get a good breath without help from an external ventilator.

It's the reason for the stairlift in our house, my magnificent purple wheelchair, my stylish forearm crutches, my bedside bipap ventilator, and my five not-so-spa-like "vacations" at the hospital over the last two years.

It's also the reason my friends and family and I are walking (okay, let's be honest, I'll be rolling, but it counts!) in the upcoming Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) Portland MG Walk. On September 29, 2018, our team, "Motionally Challenged" will walk and roll, rain or shine, along with dozens of other teams of patients, friends, family members and caregivers, to raise money for the MGFA.

The MGFA is the only national volunteer health agency in the United States dedicated solely to the fight against myasthenia gravis. MGFA is committed to finding a cure for myasthenia gravis and closely related disorders, improving treatment options, and providing information and support to people with myasthenia gravis through research, education, community programs, and advocacy.

The MGFA has personally helped me in so many ways in the two and a half years since my diagnosis. I've learned coping strategies, met dozens of other patients like me, and formed lasting friendships through MGFA-sponsored support communities.

Until the mid-20th century, MG was often a death sentence, with a 70% mortality rate. Thanks to research supported in part by the MGFA and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, mortality has fallen to less than 5%, and new treatments are in the pipeline.

When someone you care about has a chronic, disabling illness, there is often little you can do besides offer sympathy, but there is an easy way you can help! Please make a pledge to help me reach my goal. Any little bit counts, even just a single dollar, and 75% of the proceeds will go directly into research. Njchsdojfbdbhdn oh my gosh this! Literally my vision for the longest time I just never said anything lol. He would be the best caregiver. Children are innocent and precious and must be protected. Now take someone who regresses because of something they never could have controlled in their past? Trying to heal from childhood trauma? Yeah, you’re Nezu’s kid now.

(Also pushing little Midoriya and caregiver Nezu. The pair scare Aizawa a little because his problem child getting mixed up with Nezu is a recipe for disaster on a good day. Take a toddler level of energy and a caregiver who just doesn’t care what his little green bean does as long as the regressor is enjoying himself and not getting hurt, and yeah, Aizawa is just not having a good time.)
