On tonight’s episode of Match Game Who Wore It Better, I finally get solid confirmation about this pink satin blouse I’ve long been suspicious about (and I know in my heart of hearts Fannie has worn it a few more times in the interim but can’t for the life of me find the evidence):
L-R Fannie in ‘76 842; Brett in ‘78 1133
#match game who wore it better#match game#Fannie Flagg#Brett somers#when they trade ugly or neutral blouses it’s kind of six to one half dozen to the other#but the lighting on the second tier really is doing Brett no favors#like if match game had wanted their regulars to look their best all the time they’d have put them all on the bottom tier#to benefit from the better camera angles and better lighting#but of course then they’d’ve had a bunch of weirdos on the top tier and the game would’ve been compromised#yikes imagine an Eva Gabor dick Martin patti deutsch week with the regulars on the bottom tier!#(although patti wouldn’t do as weird of schtick if she were earlier in the line up. she gave regular answers all the time during her short#career as Pretty Girl. it may have even been shorter than Fannie Flagg’s)#I’ve always found it so interesting that match game chose to have a girl in the pivotal last seat who by rights must be the cleverest one#it’d be a different statement entirely if the regulars were on the bottom tier and Charles was always the Weird Guy#a little bit riling myself up that match game didn’t think women were charming enough to be stupid in the first seat#but then again match game trusting a woman to be clever in the last seat#but then again she’s always misunderstood and maligned and treated as a weirdo for playing her assigned part as weirdo…#the sociology and politics of the seating arrangement on this show just fascinate me
