A Comprehensive Guide to Vehicle Spare Parts
Your car has finally decided to make a scene, and it turns out its just one component at fault. Finding a replacement car part of any kind can be intimidating to those who have never done so. After all, you use your car daily, and it's important to you.
Investing in quality replacement components for your vehicle is crucial to keep it running smoothly. However, with prior knowledge, navigating the market to find the best fit for your car can be a manageable task. You may find the best spare parts from the "car spare part shop near me."Let's find the best parts for your car in the vast world of auto parts stores.
• Locating the Appropriate Auto Parts
Once you've determined which auto part needs replacing, you should begin your search for an exact match for your vehicle's model and year. Even among parts made by the same company, there can be significant differences depending on your vehicle's specific make, model, and year. Identifying what your car needs is as easy as following these steps.
• Numbers that identify the car:
In the same way that no two people have the same fingerprints, no two cars have the same VIN. You can find the specific part in the manufacturer's data tables using this number.
• Deciphering the cipher:
The codes may be as simple as looking for them among the dirt and grease on the part. These numbers unlock the manufacturer's online parts catalogue like a treasure chest.
• The big fight:
Now is the time for contrasting! Visit a used auto parts store and give that old piece a thorough once over. Check that all of the replacement's mounting holes and components fit snugly. A perfect match in the world of automobiles!
If you need auto parts, where can you get them?
You need to know who is selling the component you require to be able to acquire it. You can get your car back on the road quickly because they are widely available.
• Mechanics' garages:
These shops cater specifically to those in need of auto parts and accessories. They carry a wide variety of components, from minor to essential. You can also count on receiving assistance from knowledgeable employees at these shops.
• Official car dealerships:
If you need genuine OEM parts and need help finding them locally, the best place to get them is from a dealership that officially sells your make and model of car. They sell original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts designed specifically for your vehicle, guaranteeing peak efficiency and compatibility.
• For Shops on the Web:
Auto parts are readily available online, just like apparel. With the availability and convenience of online stores, you can search for the components without leaving your house. Make sure to shop only at reputable establishments that have received praise from their clientele.
• Rubbish dumps:
These salvage yards, or junkyards, are a treasure trove of affordable used auto parts. Auto salvage yards provide an affordable option for those looking to repair their vehicles using parts salvaged from wrecks. But before you buy, ensure everything is compatible and of high quality.
• Auto body shops in my neighbourhood:
These stores stock the kinds of replacement parts that see frequent use. They may be a good option if you place a premium on individualized assistance and guidance from well-versed specialists.
Conclusion
In conclusion, if you want your car to run well and last long, you need to know what to look for when shopping for replacement parts. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can ensure a smooth and successful shopping experience and select high-quality components. Get in charge of your car's upkeep and enjoy long-lasting replacement parts for years. To get more options, search on Google "car spare part shop near me" now!

Part Eleven: Pink Poison  ** ** ** **
Chris’s POV
My heart hurt.
Even though she was safe, sleeping soundly in my arms, all I could think about was her broken.
I imagined her in Madison's position. Cold, crying, and alone on a dirty bathroom floor. My brain wouldn’t shut up. I couldn’t fall asleep. I was being tortured by flashing scenes of her, helpless.
Was there anybody to protect her?
Did she have to cry alone?
Nothing running through my mind put my thoughts at ease.
I was hopeful in letting myself flash a quick belief. I could protect her.
But I couldn’t.
Day by day, more pictures of us together surfaced around the internet. People had a list of speculations as to who the girl might be. It was only a matter of time before someone connected the dots.
It was only a matter of time before I hurt her.
__
Y/n’s POV
My body was shivering when I woke up. Mindlessly reaching for him, my eyes dart open feeling cold, barren sheets.
He’s gone.
I don’t bother putting on socks. My bare feet plummet quickly, searching the vicinity of my condo.
Pacing back to my room, I knock on the bathroom door. It pushes open slightly.
“Chris?”
Silence. Bone-crushing silence.
Rushing back toward the front door, I recognize the empty floor where his shoes had been left. I peep open the blinds, seeing a couple cars. None are his.
I walk back to my head, running my hands over my face before reaching for my phone.
[ From Chris: Used the spare key. Something came up, sorry. ]
And just like that, the vulnerability that had felt so nice turned into a sickening regret. My gut twisted and churned viciously as I held my palm over my stomach.
He’d never left so abruptly before. He’d never left uncalled for at all.
It hurt.
The man had taken the confession I held so close to my heart and ran for the hills.
But, it’s him.
He’s safe.
He’s supposed to be safe.
Pulling my cornered thoughts, I take a deep breath as I start to get ready. Lotions and serums coat my face as I stare sadly in the mirror. My face stares back at me, almost mocking me.
What did I do?
It’s Chris. I’m safe. He cares so much about other people. He’d run home for anyone. I was asleep—he knew I was okay.
That’s why he left. He wouldn’t just do that.
Insecurity clouds further as tears of sadness and frustration mix into the facial products. Great, I can’t even take care of myself properly. I attempt to dab off the slick tears, only for the toilet paper to peel onto my face.
Frustratedly, I scratch off the small crumbs of the ripped napkin. I gasp, shocked, as I feel my nail deepen past the first couple layers of skin.
Fuck.
I give up, putting the essentials of my routine back in the drawer as I let out an angry huff. As I push the drawer shut, I feel my hand get crunched.
“Fuck.” I hiss out loud, grasping my hand to my chest.
Still—it wasn’t anywhere near the ache in my brain from remembering the cold, empty sheets touching my hand.
Throwing my hands down on the counter, I look over to my phone.
I can’t be alone.
But how am I supposed to ask for help?
[ To Madison: I really can’t be alone right now. Are you busy? ]
I bite anxiously at my lip as I hear the sending sound. Staring at the screen, I let out a screech as I feel a stinging pinch on my lip. Unclenching my teeth, I wipe my lip to see a runny red crimson.
Fuck.
I gather wads of tissues, urgently dabbing the wound. I hear the text notification echo in the bathroom, looking down and taking a heavy sigh.
[ From Madison : On my way. I have Nick with me if that’s okay? ]
Struggling, I type back a reply with my free hand. I get frustrated by misclicking the keyboard with my shaky non-dominant hand. My organs feel as if they’re vibrating and the only thing keeping me in tune with reality is the pierced skin burning under the tissue.
I don’t send the text as I see an incoming call on the screen. Madison’s profile picture nearly makes me laugh, but the burning cut leaves me hissing in pain.
“Sorry, I–”
I go to explain, but I’m abruptly cut off by her voice.
“What’s up? Are you okay? You’re taking too long to respond and I’m fucking worried. What’s going on?” she spurs each question vigorously.
“I,”
My words fall silent as I try to hold my breath.
I sound so stupid when I cry. My chest burns from the lack of air, but my throat closes in on itself as I vigorously shake my head.
He thinks I’m weak. He thinks I’m too much. Leaving made him happy. He doesn’t even think I’m worth it.
“--girl?”
The masculine voice catches me off guard.
“I…yeah?” I say, pushing the words out with one breath.
“Madison gave me the phone because you weren’t responding. We’re about five minutes away if she doesn’t fucking kill us speeding like this—slow the fuck down, that’s a red light!” Nick screams, his voice sounding further from the phone. “---goddamn bitch is tryna kill us. Anyhow, do you want me to distract you or ramble? We can talk about whatever is making you feel like…this when we get there, okay.”
A moment of silence passes. I contemplate the option.
How do I say yes?
It feels like if I open my mouth a slur of depression will spill onto him—the guys fucking brother.
“Hello?” he asks, grasping on my conscious thoughts.
I turn the speaker away from my phone, inhaling a shaky breath. “I—please.” I say, sounding weaker than intended. I shutter with a cringe.
Weak.
Helpless.
Damaged.
Not worth—
“Well, me and Madison were talking and um she told me about the pink dildo incident. ‘Cause I mean, I heard Chris talkin’ about it and I got curious–”
“--don’t talk about him. He’s the last person she was with, it might be because of him.” I hear Madison whisper-shout.
My heart feels heavy as I let myself sink onto the floor. I curl up in a ball. The blades of my shoulders clank uncomfortably with the hard flooring, but I stay numbly still as hot tears rush down my cheeks and into my ears.
“Fuck, you’re right….” Nick whispers, his voice muffled slightly. “Ummmm, did you know Austin is gay now?”
All thoughts run void in my mind as pure shock coats my face.
“Uh—what?” I retort.
“Fucking—Nick, don’t—”
Madison’s voice is cut off by his.
“What! It got her to respond—-fuck, ow! Your nails are pretty but they fuckin’ hurt, geez!” he exclaims.
I laugh at the commotion, my thoughts focusing on what they must look like in her car right now.
“Anyhow, before I got rudely interrupted—Austin’s gay. I mean, not really, but—” He laughs into the phone. The noise spreads a hesitant pull to my lips. “---he said I looked slay HAHAHAHAHA!”
I yank my phone away from my ear, slightly chuckling at his barbaric laugh. The ache in my chest disappears for a slight second, but as the wave of regret crushes back down, it feels heavier.
“Come get the door for us!”
The line goes dead with Madison’s voice shouting.
At least I’m not alone.
__
The rough morning had left me feeling drunk on numb emotions. Everything felt funnier. Nick and Madison had yet to leave and I wasn’t complaining. The only dull ache in my heart was from seeing Chris’s sweatshirt still laid out beside my bed as we all sat on the pillowy sheets in an array.
But everytime my eyes drifted to the article of clothing on the floor, a bitter regret raised a hefty warm in my chest.
Chris had really been in a rush to leave, I guess.
“I love stupid crafts like this,” Nick mentions.
Madison and I agree as we continue to paint the tall candle sticks with more colored wax in designed patterns and shapes. The scratch paper below us shields the comforter from the drips.
“So….are you ready to talk about it?” Madison asks.
Letting out a heavy sigh, I look up to Nick.
“It’s about Chris….”
Nick holds his paintbrush in the air as he waves his hands defensively. “I think he’s the dumbest bitch alive. And unlike him, I can stop yapping.” he reasons.
I look down as I trace a wax flower to drip onto my candle. “I…I told him. I told him about–” I bite down hard on my tongue as the words swallow back down my throat.
How am I ever supposed to tell anyone again?
“What was he doing this morning—or last night?” I ask, directing the question towards Nick.
Nick looks at me incredulously. “Him and Matt were screaming while playing video games, it was fuckin’ annoying as shit,” he explains.
My chest hitches with an empty void of air. With teary eyes, I blink back the warm liquid threatening to spill. “I…does he know about that night?” I ask Madison.
Nodding, she speaks blankly. “The night of the party where…where he found me, yeah. Nick…Nick knows.”
“I mean, yeah.” he trails off hesitantly. “--what’s that have to do with this though?” he asks.
Taking a large puff of air, I focus my eyes down on the dripping wax from my brush. “I, something similar happened to me. I—I guess I felt safe enough to tell him and,” I choke back a cry as I hold my breath.
Why did betrayal have to hurt so bad?
Why did he have to hurt me so bad?
“He left. I woke up and…and he was gone.” I stammer as my lip starts to tremble.
My hands shake, creating a blob of wax and covering the other petals I had drawn on. The mess seems to break me as I hold the candle and let out a soft string of cries.
“I’d only ever told you, Madison. And I trusted him and he left. He—he didn’t even wake me up. I woke up confused and alone—-I woke up feeling like—fuck, it just hurts.” I sob out.
Unable to see through the blurry tears, I feel the candle being gently pried from my hand. I hear the rustle of papers as Madison’s familiar arms embrace around me, cradling my head into her chest.
“He—he said something came up. He—”
My violent breaths are interrupted by Madison's soothing patting on my head. “Shhhh, shhhh, I’m here. I….I’m so sorry. I’m so so so sorry.” she whispers, hugging me tighter
It all just hurts. Bitter and sad. The hope I had left for the man shriveled with the truth from Nick’s mouth and now? Now I was feeling it fully.
I wasn’t overthinking.
I was right.
__
The sadness hadn’t faded. In fact, it seemed to worsen. Tears weren’t rolling down my cheeks, but it felt as if they were flooding my lungs instead. Void of emotions, but I still felt as if I was drowning in sadness.
I had fallen asleep after crying so long. But, silent whispers had woken me up.
“--I can’t believe he fucking did that. I’m gonna—”
“No. He’s your brother. You’re not gonna get in the middle. We know him, Nick. He wouldn’t…he wouldn’t do this. I…would he?”
“Well, I didn’t think so but look at what’s happening. Maybe…maybe he just needed some space or something—”
“Wait, shut up, I think she’s waking up.” Madison voices.
I lazily sigh, unmoving in her embrace. “I’ve been awake.”
The simple statement is left dry.
What other words are there to say?
He lied. He comforted me, he made me feel safe.
And it was all a hoax.
Maybe it was all to get in my pants. Maybe he realized he wasn’t willing to deal with me.
Maybe I just wasn’t enough for him to care that much.
“How are you feeling, hun?”
Madison’s soothing voice does little to cure my limp and depressed body. Shrugging my shoulder lightly, I huff out a puff of air.
“I…not great. Just—not great…” I say.
I look on Madison’s other side to see Nick’s fingers fiddling in his lap.
“I’m sorry I brought you in the middle of this. Please, just…don’t say anything. I don’t want an apology or an explanation just because his brother told him to.” I voice with a sour taste in my mouth.
“I….okay. I’m just, I’m sorry. This isn’t right and you… neither of you ever deserved those circumstances.” Nicks breathes out softly.
I hum, too drained to respond.
There was no more overthinking because of anxiety. There was a reason behind each and every belief in my mind popping through like poison.
What if Chris thought less of me because of it?
What if he didn’t think I was pretty enough for someone to do that to me?
Did he lie about other things too?
If he cares so much—why didn’t his actions show that?
How come he could be there for me but not when I truly needed him?
Did he not take my feelings into consideration at all? Did I mean that little to him? Was he even thinking about me?
Why did he have to hit me so hard–a scar anyone would avoid? Why did he want to hurt me so bad?
And why the fuck did I still crave his arms—his voice.
I was in the trenches of depression because of him. Yet, he felt like the remedy to the poison. I wanted to bathe in the relief his personality gave me. His lips, his eyes…anything.
My brain was betraying me worse than him. And that…that made the pain sink in deeper.
But just how much lower could I sink?

Chapter 4: A big decision
-°•°•°•°•--•°•°•°•°--°•°•°•°•--•°•°•°•°-
Pairings: Logan Sargeant x reader
Oscar Piastri x reader (platonic)
Warnings: Reader mentions anxiety/having it once, briefly. Not really angst but Sad Logan :(. This is hardly a SMAU for this part but I had to sacrifice that for some real relationship content.
Notes: I promised some more Logan × Reader relationship stuff but I'm sorry that it had to come at the cost of the SMAU aspect.
Summary: The Australian GP and its effects...
-°•°•°•°•--•°•°•°•°--°•°•°•°•--•°•°•°•°-
Unlike much important news in your life, you didn't catch wind of this through a text message. Instead you find out when your boyfriend of five (nearly 6) years came barrelling into your driver's room.
Now there were a few alarming things you note.
1) What was he doing here. This is a surefire way to have the relationship the two of you have tried so hard to hide, be revealed.
2) How did he get in here. Despite you loving Logan with all of your being and near worshipping the ground he walked on, there was no way that he - a driver from a rival team- should be able to enter the Aton Martin hospitality let alone your drivers room.
3) Was he crying?
You glance at the door and swiftly sit up from the old (and oddly comfortable) chair you were resting in. "Lo? Are you alr-" The words get caught in your throat when you see his wide, glassy eyes. You have only ever seen him sport this expression on a handful of occasions and so this further adds to your worry.
Before you can even attempt to get another word in, he clings to you. It was like being smothered by a warm, sweaty, tall koala. You wouldn't have it any other way. Your hand finds the small of his back and begins to run calming circles up and down his fireproofs. "Honey." You gently coo "What's wrong?"
Instead of getting the desired response, Logan instead started to sob on your shoulder.
This is the last young you expected when you woke up.
You continue to hold him until he eventually builds up the strength to say what he came in your room for. "It's the car." There is a sharp intake of breath from your partner "Well, you saw yesterday how Alex crashed his right?" You hum in acknowledgement and as a prompt for him to keep speaking.
"So they uh..." he looks down almost ashamed. You smile softly at him to help encourage him to continue his story. "Well they told me that his chassis is broken and they don't have a spare... So I'm going to have to sacrifice my seat to Alex can drive on Sunday."
This time it was you that inhales sharply. "What?" Maybe you heard things wrong or maybe you were just misinterpreting- "Yeah I'm not racing on Sunday because Alex is 'more likely to score points." It was at this moment that your heart broke. Do they not trust him? That can't be fair. That's not right!
Despite your inner conflict, you remind yourself that you Logan is the most important thing here and you have to pull yourself together for him. It was the minimum of what he deserved especially now. "Oh honey." You hug him again and lead him to the bed in the corner of your room .
You fall back and he curls into you to lie on top of you as you run your fingers through his hair. When his once deep sobs became only occasional sniffles, you enquire "Is there anything I can do. Can I go and beat up James? Can I give you my chassis?" That makes him laugh and when he looks up you find yourself smiling. "No. Just continue holding me. "
And who are you to leave his wishes unfulfilled?

It’s been a month since you and Bucky shared a bed. It’s been a month since he saved you from that disastrous date with Jackson. It’s been a month since you felt his arms around you, and you haven’t felt them since. It’s like after that night, Bucky went back to his normal ways of fucking a new girl every week. He refuses to think about that night, talk about that night, and acknowledge that it even happened.
Sometimes, he’d bring two girls back to the apartment for a very long night of you wanting to kill yourself from the noises you’d hear. You don’t get it. You thought you two had something. Were you just a means to an end? Another girl to get into his bed even though you never did anything other than sleep? Another notch in his belt?
The only person you can find comfort in is your best friend and Bucky’s sister, Mia. She’s the only one who will hear you complain about him because everyone does it. All of her friends who have gotten involved with Bucky have complained to her about how he didn’t treat them right or they caught feelings but he tossed them aside like they meant nothing.
However, this time it’s different. It’s the way you talk about Bucky or the way she sees him with other girls that makes her think there is something more to this than meets the eye.
“He hasn’t said anything to you?” you ask and fiddle with your cappuccino.
“No, sorry, hun.”
“I should move out. I don’t know where I’d go.”
“I wish I could say you can stay with me. Ty and I just converted the spare bedroom into our home office.”
“I know. I appreciate the offer. I have a little money saved but I have to tough it out until I get enough to afford something small.”
“Ty’s sister is a real estate agent. I can give her your number and she can try and help you out.”
“Yeah, maybe. I’m still trying to figure things out.”
“Hey, can Ty and I borrow your car this weekend? Ours is in the shop and we planned a romantic weekend up north.”
“Yeah, that’s fine. I’ll drop it off the night before.”
“Thanks!”
You take a sip from your coffee and hear a motorcycle in the distance. You’d recognize that bike anywhere. Bucky pulls up near the cafe where you and Mia are and parks on the side of the road. He has a girl on the back of his bike that he no doubt met that day. Right in front of him is some fancy clothing store she wanted to go to. She gets off the bike, removes her helmet, and leaves him on the bike to go inside the store alone.
Bucky looks in your general direction but with his helmet on, it’s hard to determine exactly what he is looking at. Still, that doesn’t stop the glare you’re giving him.
“Just ignore him,” Mia says and pops a doughnut hole into her mouth.
“Easier said than done,” you mutter and look away from him. “That next morning, he acted like nothing happened. I figured he didn’t want to talk about it. Then a couple of days passed and he still didn’t mention it. Weeks went by and now I know he’s doing this to me on purpose. He’s being an ass.”
Bucky gets off his bike and takes off his helmet to get some fresh air, and he leans against the side of it effortlessly. If you were to do that, you’d surely knock the bike over. He waits for his fuck buddy to come out of the store, and she bounces over to him with a bag in hand. She wraps her arms around his neck and he pulls her in for a kiss.
It’s the kind of kiss that is meant for the bedroom but also the kind of kiss you want to show off to someone. You can’t be here anymore.
“I gotta go. I’ll talk to you later.”
You get up and toss some bills onto the table for your drink and leave in the opposite direction of Bucky and his new toy.
Bucky pulls away from the girl and looks over to where you and Mia are. When he doesn’t see you, he looks around for you only to see your retreating figure. He feels like shit for doing that. He absentmindedly rubs the knuckles that hold small scars from when he beat Jackson up for what he did to you.
You take the entire day to walk around town and be by yourself, so when you get home it’s already dark. Bucky is in the kitchen cooking something when you put your keys in the bowl by the front door. You round the corner and see him cooking something with only a towel wrapped around his waist as if he just got out of the shower. However, there isn’t any water on his body.
“Grab it while it’s hot,” he says.
“Really? You’re cooking in a towel? You couldn’t have gotten dressed first?”
He opens his mouth to reply but someone speaks from his bedroom that interrupts him.
“Bucky, where are you? I’m getting lonely.”
Bucky doesn’t feel guilty that he has a girl over. He feels guilty that you caught him. He sees the heartbroken look in your eyes that makes him want to shoot himself.
“Thanks for the offer but I’m not hungry. I’m sleeping over at Mia’s tonight.”
He lets you walk away.
The weekend comes quicker than you’d like. Without a car, you’re stuck in the apartment, and you’re not about to ask Bucky for a ride on his motorcycle. You’re stuck in your room on your phone when you get a message from Mia.
Hey, I know you didn’t ask for this but I hooked you up with someone Ty knows. He’s super nice!
like a blind date?
Yeah. I can tell him you’re not interested. I figured this is your chance to get over my brother.
yeah, i can try. where is the date?
At the new bar that just opened next to the cafe. His name is Travis. I told him 7 tonight.
okay. thank you. i’ll let you know how it goes.
Seven is three hours away, so you better get ready now. After taking a shower, you look in your closet for something to wear and come across the dress you wore for your date with Jackson. You haven’t worn it since because of the memories attached to it. Not memories of Jackson, memories of Bucky. Next to that dress is Bucky’s leather jacket he told you to keep. Like the dress, you haven’t worn it since and you’re sure as hell not going to wear it now.
There is a floral print dress that goes down to your ankles. It’s off the shoulders with long sleeves down to your wrists that bunches so the sleeves look flowy instead of compressed. The entire dress is flowy and light, perfect for a blind date. The match, you have chunky white wedges that give you a few extra inches. You keep your makeup light, hair down in soft waves, and jewelry that compliments the dress.
You leave your room and look at Bucky’s closed door. He’s been spending a lot of time in his room this past week with girls he picks up from anywhere. The only reason you’re telling him where you’re going is because you live with him. If you don’t, he’ll send an army to go look for you. There are noises and giggling coming from inside the room but when you knock, they cease.
One minute later, the door opens a crack and Bucky stands there with messy hair and sweats on.
“I’m going out. Don’t wait up for me.”
Bucky takes a moment to look at the outfit you’ve chosen and his demeanour changes immediately.
“Where are you going?”
“I have a date.”
“You don’t have a car.”
“I’ll Uber. Have fun with your girlfriend.”
You leave before he has a chance to say anything else. It takes the Uber ten minutes to get to you and another thirty minutes to get to the restaurant. Mia sent you a picture of what the man looks like but it was grainy and unclear. You step out with your phone in hand while looking around for Travis.
“Y/N?”
You turn to see an attractive man wearing a nice suit. You look at the picture once more to confirm it’s Travis, which it is.
“You must be Travis,” you chuckle nervously.
“Yeah. Wow, Mia sent me your picture but nothing compares to real life. You’re beautiful.”
“Thank you,” you blush.
“I made us a reservation. Shall we go inside?”
“After you.”
You two walk inside, get your table, order, and start chatting about your lives. Travis is a bit boring when it comes to having adventures. Unlike you. You can write a book about the adventures you’ve been on because you have Bucky as a roommate. When he’s not fucking some random girl, he’s actually pretty cool to hang out with. You two have been everywhere in town doing all sorts of things.
“So, what do you do for work?” Travis asks and sips his drink.
“Uh, I am an IT specialist who works from home. I get calls daily on how to fix computers and other tech-related stuff. It pays well and I get to stay home, so that’s a bonus.”
“That’s awesome. I’m terrible when it comes to computers.”
“What do you do?”
“I am a financial manager. Like you, it pays well but I’m stuck in meetings and in the office all the time.”
“Have you always wanted to work in the financial world?”
The waitress comes by with your food and sets the plates in front of you and Travis. You think she’s going to walk away and you can continue your conversation with Travis, but that’s not what happens.
“Am I supposed to be impressed with this?” he asks angrily.
“Excuse me?” the waitress stutters.
“I don’t even have to touch this to know it’s cold. Do I have to go back there and tell you how to do your damn job?”
Your mouth opens in embarrassment and shock.
“I’m sorry, sir. I’ll take this back right now and have it fixed.”
The waitress grabs the plate without looking at you and leaves immediately. Poor thing looks like she is going to cry. Travis shakes his head and turns back to you as if this never happened.
“So, anyway, I went to business school and all that, but it’s nice to get out of the office every once in a while, you know?”
You have no idea what to say. Mistreating waitstaff is an immediate turn off. Everything attractive about this man suddenly turns sour. You’re lucky you saw this early on instead of at the end of the date.
“I’m sorry, I have to use the ladies room. I’ll be right back.”
“Oh, sure.”
You take everything you own with you because you’re not coming back to this table. You make it seem like you’re going to the bathroom in case he’s watching but once your table is out of sight, you find the first waitress you see which so happens to be yours.
“Hey, I am so sorry about the way he spoke to you like that. I don’t even know him. My best friend set me up. Listen, I gotta get out of here but the table we’re at is by the door. Is there a back entrance I can use?”
“Yeah, I got you. He gave me the ick as soon as I saw him,” she shutters. “Follow me.” She takes you through the kitchen and the back door that they use when they go on breaks. “Good luck.”
“Oh, and don’t be afraid to spit in his food.”
“Trust me, the cook’s all over it.”
You walk through the small alley next to the bar to the main street. You take out your phone to call an Uber, but luck has it so that you don’t have any service. You try moving the phone around, even walking down to the street light, but nothing comes up.
“Damn it,” you mutter.
You can’t call Mia. You can’t use your car because she has it. The only person you know is Bucky. Should you call him? He’s probably frolicking with that woman still. Even if you were to call him, he’d probably hate you for ruining his date. The only other option is to walk home even though it took thirty minutes to get here by car.
The road stretches through the mountain briefly which you don’t want to walk through but what else are you gonna do? If you can’t get service in a busy restaurant area, there is no way you’re gonna get service in the mountains. The walk gives you time to think about your life. You have a good job that pays well but you can’t keep living with Bucky if it means seeing him with all these women. You have a major thing for him and it kills you to know you’re not the one he’s going home with.
Ten minutes go by until you hear the unmistakable sound of a motorcycle. It races past you without a second thought, screeches to a stop, turns around, and slowly creeps up behind you. You don’t have to see who it is to know who it is. Bucky pulls up next to you and walks the bike to keep up with your pace.
“Get on the bike.”
“No, I’ll walk. Thanks.”
“Don’t be difficult, Y/N. Get on the bike.”
“How the hell did you even find me?”
“I asked Mia. She told me the guy you were on a date with. I looked him up, and he posted to his Facebook about how his date ditched him, and all women are beneath him. He’s a fucking loser. I mean, he still uses Facebook,” he chuckles. “I figured you were out here somewhere.”
“Stop stalking me,” you roll your eyes. “I’ll meet you at home.”
“Get on the damn bike.”
“No!” Bucky revs his engine and surges forward, parking right in front of you to prevent you from going further. You try to go around him but he moves his bike in your path. “Why the hell do you care about me? You’ve proven I mean nothing to you.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” he asks and gets off his bike.
“You fucking know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, then you’re not worth my time.” You try pushing past him to continue your walk but he grabs your arm to prevent you from doing so. You quickly turn and slap his face. The shock is enough for him to let go of you. “Don’t fucking touch me. The last time you touched me, you left and never spoke of it again. Just go, please. You have a girl waiting for you at home. Just go to her.”
“I can’t!”
“Why not?!”
“Because she’s not you!” he yells loudly.
“Do better,” you scoff.
“Fuck,” he mumbles to himself. “I love you!” You pause to take in the information. “I can’t get you out of my fucking head. I’ve been trying all month to get you out of my head. None of the girls I’ve brought home have ever stuck because they’re not you. Being with you that one night has been better than anything I’ve done all fucking month.”
“Then why did you let me walk away?” you ask in a heartbreaking tone.
“Because I’m an idiot. Because you’re the realest thing I’ve ever had, and I didn’t want to fuck it up.”
Silence befalls the two of you, and you look around the desolate road.
“So, what are you gonna do about it?”
More silence. Bucky takes three big steps to get to you, grabs your waist with one hand, slides his other into your hair, and kisses you like he was supposed to a month ago. His lips fit so perfectly against your own like they belong there. You’ve pictured this moment in so many different ways, but this is not on your list.
“Are we really doing this?” you ask when he pulls away.
“Do you want to?” You nod with a smile. “You’re my girl now.”
“No more other women.”
“I’ve got the one I want.”
He leans down and kisses you again, this time, making your head soar to new places.

Tim Drake's I.E.F chapter 2
[Previous chap][Ao3 chap][Masterlist][next chap]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Going in alone wasn't his best idea, but maybe he wasn't alone?
The last month has been weird for Tim.
His days have been mostly normal, conference meetings and emails for WE, school, and family drama were all as okay as usual. His nightlife, however, was driving him crazy, for multiple reasons. Well, mainly just two reasons.
The first reason was the big case he was working on. Department store robberies and break & enters focusing on electronics have been popping up throughout Old Gotham and the City Hall District. Reports say the goods just vanish from sight, only to reappear on the black market. The fact that security cameras and motion sensors in the stores can't detect the perps means that Tim is either working with advanced camouflaging tech, or a meta. He hopes it isn't a meta… Either way he can't find them and it's giving him a massive headache.
The second reason is the thing that's been following him almost since the beginning of the case. It started with one of the robberies, either the third or fourth. Tim had gotten a call from the GCPD about a theft at an older repair shop with the same M.O. as a few of the previous thefts they've gotten over the week, and the officers wanted help looking for evidence. He showed up and they took him behind the counter to show him the—frankly piss-poor quality—CCTV footage.
It didn't make sense, one minute the parts were there, old stereos and DVD players lining the shelves, and the next poof! They had vanished. It had Tim replaying the tape—literal tape!—over and over to try and see through the pixely mess for anything useful. By the fourth replay he was getting a tension migraine and the officers that had directed him to the tube TV displaying it had moved on to other parts of the shop.
He felt it then. A cold… something bumps the back of his head. Too cold for any living person, short of Mr. Freeze, had any right to be. He whipped around expecting for the officers to be tied up, a gun at his head, something different that he hadn't noticed because he was too focused on the damn tape. But he found nothing. The cops were still looking at the shelves and racks lined with spare parts, the lights of their cars still flashing through the floor to ceiling storefront windows.
Tim was reeling.
He was sure he felt something, he was sure! He could still feel something, a chill creeping down the back of his spine and an extra set of eyes on him he couldn't account for by where the officers were standing. Just to make sure he did a few sweeps of the shop with the different view modes built into the lenses in his domino mask.
He forgot the fact that what had touched him was cold due to lack of sleep and hadn't switched to infrared. If he had he would have seen a person sized cold spot floating above him.
'Lack of sleep must be getting to me more than I thought.' He had to grumble at the voice in his head that sounded suspiciously like Dick telling him that coffee wasn't a sleep substitute and he was 'a growing boy that needs his rest!'
He ignored that voice and turned back to the tapes, still feeling the eyes on him.
After that it became a regular thing, the cops would tell him about another robbery, he'd show up, then after a little while he'd get that cold creep up his spine and feel that invisible set of eyes on him. It was honestly driving Tim more crazy than the 'ghost thieves' as the GCPD were calling them. A few times he thought he could see something out of the corner of his eye, a flash of white and black, an extra silhouetted reflection above and behind him in a window or mirror. He knew something was following him.
The eighth time it showed up it wasn't at a crime scene, he was perched on a rooftop near the clock tower, enjoying the view, when he felt those—by now—familiar eyes on him. With a better view to the open space he tried to get a look at the thing following him (this time switching to inflated even!) but as it was already mid fall it was too cold to get a good reading up so high at this time of night.
'Why is it so insistent on following me?' he thought exasperatedly. It wasn't like he was one of the more interesting vigilantes in Gotham. From the way this creature felt (predatory, like a wolf stalking a deer) it would probably have loads more fun stalking Jason, or maybe it'd like Dick more, with his funny quips and fluid movements. Tim was… he was Tim, the smart one, but he wasn't very flashy or enthusiastic about what he does. He was just one of the bats, the replacement, and not a very good one if he got replaced.
A snowflake landed on Tim's nose, startling him out of his depressive spiral. He looked up, wondering how long he had been like that, when two things occurred to him. One, it was late September, it wasn't due to snow for at least two more months, it couldn't be snowing unless one of the colder rouges got out of Arkham and decided to build another weather machine. Two, the thing. It was right next to him. He could feel it watching him. It was… was it worried for Tim? Had it noticed Tim going down a bad train of thought and decided to startle him out of it… with a snowflake?
He discreetly inches his hand over to where he thought the creature was beside him, but only came into contact with the cornice underneath them. Retracting his hand, he let his legs drop out from under him, going from a crouch to a sit and letting the circulation back into his feet. He looked out into Gotham and watched the lights of the cars travel underneath them. It was peaceful, until Oracle called him about a shooting two blocks west of his location.
The being stuck with him until his patrol ended, and by the end of the night he figured even if the thing was creepy and following him, he didn't mind the company.
Then he told Dick about it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tim was riding to his stakeout spot when he felt the presence come up beside him. He no longer thought it was malicious, despite how weird it felt, and he had noticed a few more times of the thing trying to be useful while on patrol; tripping up thugs, redirecting stray bullets away from him, highlighting clues during an investigation (he still doesn't know how it made the weapon actually glow.) It was nice knowing someone had his back that weren't his annoying siblings, who still thought he was making the thing up.
He stopped two blocks down from the electronic store his contacts had told him would be targeted tonight and set off to don't a good vantage point. The bakery across the street wasn't ideal, but it had a good view and a large enough smoke stack that he could easily hide behind if needed, so he went around the back to the fire escape. Two attempts was all it took to get the ladder clanging to the alley pavement, and knowing his family he'd be getting called rusty or a disgrace by at least two of them if they knew he didn't get it on the first try.
The bloom of frost on the back of his neck made him shiver and refocused his thoughts back on the mission. He scaled up to the first landing and resecured the ladder to its upright position, then went the rest of the way two rungs at a time. He hopped up onto the back ledge of the building and strides across to the front, booting up the security bypass coding feature to connect him to the CCTV footage of the store in front of him.
He worked to get all the cams up in a grid then waited, absently noticing the cold presence floating in loose circles around his head. The sounds of Gotham's nightlife has his mind wandering as he went back to the morning he accidentally told Dick about his patrol company.
"Awwwee, Timmy has an imaginary friend!" He'd exclaimed, getting the attention of the rest of the breakfast table.
Stephanie, lovable Stephanie, burst into a guffawing laughter, Duke barely restraining his giggles behind his hand. Damian had just sent him a scowl for interrupting the peace.
"It's not imaginary, Dick, the thing following me is real! It landed a snowflake on my nose last night. It's September! We won't have snow for another two months! Explain how that could have happened Dick." He crossed his arms and sat back in his chair.
"You sure you weren't just imagining it?" He countered with a stupid, stupid smirk.
Tim did not pout, he didn't, especially when the other two burst into another fit of unchecked laughter. Knowing he wouldn't get anywhere with them, he decided to take his death wish coffee back to his room to answer some company emails.
The alarm blaring from the store in front of him brought him back out of his reminiscence, realzing he'd only been half paying attention to the security feed, and that the cold spot was now right over his shoulder.
A silent curse was all he gave before standing up, -the cold floating off a bit- and pressing the button on his comms to an open channel.
"Oracle, it's RR." The comms popped and came to life with a response.
"Red, I'm guessing you couldn't see anything on the CCTV footage?"
He was hoping the better equipped Oracle had noticed something, but with the tone of her voice, that wasn't the case.
"So you didn't see anything either?" He replied with a groan. So much for that lead. Walking a few paces away from the cornice he groaned, "what kind of tech could hide someone from all the cameras in there?"
No reply meant Oracle was just as stumped as he was, and after a pregnant pause he murmured "you think it could be a meta?"
Continuing with the thought would only give him another headache, but he couldn't dismiss the possibility. "That could be why we didn't even see the goods getting moved," he added on.
"That's a worrying possibility, but even metas leave traces. Maybe something will come up during the investigation this time? See what you can find."
"I'll try, but I don't know how much I'll find even if I can see them," was all he could say in reply. It was sad how little he'd been able to get during the last dozen investigations, and he doubts it'll be different for this one.
He was alerting the police while keeping up the conversation with Oracle when he felt something go through him. He couldn't suppress the full body shudder he had to the sensation. It was like someone had poured ice water down his front and caught it with a towel before it could reach his leg, and he did not like that.
He breathed out a wheezy "what the fuck?" Before needing to stumble back on stiff knees.
"RR, are you okay? What happened?" It was so sudden he couldn't shut his comm off. Great, now he needed to explain to Oracle what was happening.
Shakily he sputtered "I-I'm f-f-fine. My patrol buddy just gave me the worst heebie-jeebies e-ever."
"Patrol buddy? Tim, no one's in your vicinity to be on patrol with you, who are you talking about?"
"Oh, are we talking about Timmy's imaginary friend again?" Dick broke in, stupid open channel, stupid slow crime night.
"Imaginary friend? Tim, are you okay, you told us you were getting enough sleep after patrols." The worry in her voice would have been comforting if he couldn't hear Dick's smarmy smirk all the way from BlĂźdhaven.
"Don't worry O, Timmers' here is just finally getting to be a kid again," Dick explained lightly. Tim wanted to strangle him right now, the concern radiating from Barbara's end was not helping.
"I don't know Dick, this could be something bad, what if he's hallucinating due to lack of sleep? It's happened more than once already."
Tim snapped at that. "The amount of sleep I'm getting is neither of your concerns! Just because I'm getting less than recommended doesn't mean none at all. And no I am not hallucinating! I just felt something go through me and nothing's here! I'm-" He was cut off by Dick saying something about a cold with all the shivering he was doing but he quickly cut that off.
"No I'm not coming down with something Dick!" He shouted into the comm. He was tired of his family making fun of him for being stalked. Sure, the thing stalking him may be friendly, and may help him get out of spiralling thoughts, but it could be a spy! Or an evil alien come to replace him! Or one of their rouges' new secret weapons! And they're laughing about him having an imaginary friend! That was all kinds of degrading he didn't want to have on him.
Before he could get another word out his wrist computer beeped. Stunned and confused to silence, Tim raised his gauntlet to show that, somehow, his tracker was travelling away from him and towards the docks.
He was still on the same roof he was on half an hour ago.
"What?" Was what came out of his mouth, mentally followed by a 'the fuck?' as he watched the little blinking light speed through the grid representing Gotham's street system. Frowning further he stuck his other hand into the front left pouch in his utility belt, the one that normally held the tracker. He felt around in it as though the pouch was deeper than a few fingers, and pulled back his gloved hand with nothing in it. His tracking bug wasn't in his belt. Remembering the full body chill he got moments before, he realized the sensation ended just below his belt.
Where his tracker used to be.
His head shot up, swivelling and searching for something he knows he won't find with his eyes. The cold spot had travelled to the back of the building and was slowly making its way back to him, coming from the sound of screeching tires it wasn't hard to make the connection.
His buddy just put a lead in his lap, and damn if Tim wasn't going to take it.
Interrupting whatever lame spiel Dick was ranting about, Tim cut in.
"Guys, I think I got a lead." He was met with a few seconds of dead air before both Dick and Babs blew up on him.
"What?!- How?!- When did you see them?- Do you need backup?- how did you get sight of them if you were talking to us?-"
Tim cut them off again, he loved his family, but sometimes they could be loud.
"Something took my tracker. I don't know what has it but it's heading to the docks, I'm going to see where it's headed and maybe find some clues about either who took it, or that tech."
Dick spoke up, worry laced in his serious tone, "Tim this is a really good time to point out that this could be a trap. Whatever has your bug was able to take it off you without you noticing, maybe you should get someone to go with?"
The presence seemed to droop at Dick's worrying, if it really just gave him the one thing to bust this case open, he couldn't not go.
"I don't think it's a trap," he replied. "If what I think happened, then that thing that's stalking me might just have given me the lead I need to bust this case open. And yes I know you guys still don't believe me about the thing, but I've seen and felt too many things over the past month not to think something's keeping tabs on me."
While they couldn't see them, the hand gestures gave him some relief for his exasperation. Grumbling the last bit made him feel like he was talking to an older brother though, which, he guessed he was, technically.
"I'll be in Gotham soon for the weekend, radio me if anything, and I mean anything comes up, okay?" Dick's older brother qualities really shine through at times like these, making a spot in Tim's chest warm.
He sent a small reassuring "will do" through the channel before turning his comm off. He needed off that roof to follow the tracker, and even while rushing to his bike he kept glancing at his computer to make sure the bug wouldn't magically go offline.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finding the tracking bug wasn't all that difficult, when it finally stopped in a section of the docks known for shady deals and villain hideouts Tim had to ditch the bike in favour of the stealthier rooftop option. He really didn't want any other criminals noticing him, and even though the bike was quiet, it wasn't that quiet. Corrugated steel wasn't the best surface for freestyle parkour, but when you're part of the bat family you get used to it. The fact that it had rained earlier in the day meant he had to be extra careful with how he landed, if he didn't want to slip up between jumps.
His patrol buddy seemed to be getting more active the further they went into the area, feeling the cold spot circling around his head as though waiting for something to jump out, and Tim had to wonder if that was a good or bad thing. He hoped it was the first option.
Tim had to refocus as they bounded over another rooftop and came up on the warehouse in which his tracer had stopped in. It was lit up like a Christmas tree compared to the surrounding buildings, unnecessary, but a good first clue to what's going on inside.
Three guards, all armed with handguns, were positioned at the main entrances but weren't doing a very good job of being lookouts. Seemed like an amateur group, then, all the better. Amateurs in Gotham were stupid and overconfident, they didn't know how to handle the bats and were often brushed away as easily as Alfred sweeping up dust.
Finding an entry point was easy, after circling the building via adjacent rooftops Tim figured  the open window in the rear end of the building, that probably led to an old office space, would be his best bet. He made sure there wasn't anyone in the room, then used his grapple gun to launch himself through the frame in such a way Dick would be proud of. Rolling on his shoulder and coming up in a crouch, he canvassed the room for bugs or weapons (empty as it was.) Finding nothing he crept his way out through the doorway and into the hallway.
The hallway held five more doors, most likely leading to more old offices, but unlike his entry point these frames all had their doors intact. Investigating to make sure the second floor was clear of people would be his first task, but a sound reverberating from the open end of the hallway had him creeping to the grated catwalk above the main part of the warehouse to investigate.
He gasped. 'This is it,' Tim thought as he observed the floor below, 'all of the stolen tech is right here!' Thirty men dressed in black and armed were sorting through gaming consoles, PC towers, camera equipment and other devices on his left. On his right were three vans, one with its back doors swung open, revealing the freshly stolen flatscreen displays they had pilfered from the electronic store only an hour before.
He watched it all, taking note of the stark white belts some of the goons wore and taking photos through his domino lenses. A quiet scuff behind him had Tim instinctively swerving out of the way of a lead pipe aimed for his head. Kicking out and catching his attacker on the shins, the thugs' forward momentum carried him face first into the iron mesh grate keeping them on the second floor. Tim smiled a little at the mental image of the guy going splat, but the humour was short lived as the impact of the fall had loosened the grunts grip of his still outstretched arm on his weapon. Causing the pipe to roll out of his hand, and falling down to the workspace below before Tim had a chance to catch it.
Shit.
The pipe landed with a loud echoing clang! as the whole warehouse went deathly quiet. Tim held his breath, hoping the ghost thieves would just go back to sorting their goods so he could hightail it outta there, but as a shot rang out and a bullet whizzed by his temple, he realized only the second part of that thought would be happening.
'Fuck fuck fuck fuck!' was all he could think as he raced full tilt back to the window that had let him in. Bullets and angry exclamations ringing through the air as he made his escape onto the rooftop across from him. Looking back to the main entrance Tim thought he would be safe for a few moments to catch his breath while they rallied together, until the doors crashed open and a mob of angry men stormed out of the building to give chase.
He needed to leave. Now.
Sprinting over the roof and bounding across the steep to the next overhang, Tim couldn't keep the shouting and gunshots out of his head. He stayed focused, knowing that the urge to get away and staying alive was overriding the freeze response that so badly wanted to lock his joints. Practice and experience were the only thing keeping his brain focused on launching himself and landing even as bullets sped past his form. A searing pain in his bicep bloomed as he came on a downward arc of a leap, followed by a ribbon of pain across his face, but he kept running.
Only when a burst of heat and pain shot through his chest did he finally lose enough focus to slip on a slick section of roofing, legs going out from under him and down the side of the building. His upper torso slammed onto the corrugated steel in a way that had him crying out as the pain raced through him, nearly blacking out. Weakly scrabbling to gain purchase along the sleek metal only made the pain in his arm scream and pulse louder through his head until there was nothing left to grab.
And so he fell.
Static buzzing accompanied the sound of rushing wind as Tim plummeted the thirty feet to the pavement below. He absently wondered where the buzz was coming from, alongside the thoughts of 'Dick's gonna kill me,' 'shit shit shit shit,' and 'Alfred will be crushed that I got crushed, heh.'
Before he could meet the unforgiving pavement rushing up to catch him, something grabbed his uninjured arm by the wrist. He thought he would be jerked to a stop until he felt a cool sensation wash over him, like he'd just chewed on a menthol candy. Then, as if by magic, Tim felt gravity lift off him like shaking off a weighted blanket. The buzzing only got louder as he was gently carried to the ground, legs collapsing on contact.
They were too weak to hold him up.
When he was held by the shoulders and positioned so his back was against the nearest wall, He realized belatedly that it was his patrol buddy.
It had caught him.
It was checking him over.
It was the source of that static buzzing he'd heard before.
Another sensation washed over him, this one of exhaustion, pain, and the feeling that it was safe. That he was protected. That he could close his eyes and everything would be okay when he opened them.
Before the darkness that encroached on his vision overtook him he saw a green light surrounding him, then a figure appeared. He was too exhausted to tell whether the figure was male or female, but he did notice a shock of snow white hair on an otherwise dark clothed body. As the figure stood and turned to meet the angry mob Tim got the last look at who he would later realize to be his patrol companion.
The static buzzing pulsed with the figure as they proceeded to expand. A swirling mass of black cloudy mist with white, glittering flecks rolled towards the other end of the alley like a thundercloud. The haze got too much for Tim to fight and the only thought that entered his addled mind was 'ah, beautiful.'
And then, Tim blacked out.
Word Count: 1120
Song: The way I loved you
Warnings: heart break, unsatisfactory relationship and nothing else.
Minors and Karens aren't allowed in this blog!!
A/N: Thank you so much for this request anon! And I'm sorry if it doesn't reach upto your expectations. As I said earlier, I'm way too sick these days. However, I still hope you like it.
Tumblr media
"This is not what I asked for, Jungkook!" You scream at the top of your voice.
"You asked for time Y/N. And I am trying to give you time! Now what the fuck is your problem?" Jungkook screams back.
"This is not time, Kook. You are asking me to shop for everything I need within 2 hours while the supermarket is 30 minutes away. You can't even spare me time for something as common as grocery. I don't know how trivial you think of me. I just-" you take your purse and storm out of the apartment shutting the door loudly behind you.
When you came back home that afternoon, you found no trace of Jungkook. You don't know why you had a faint expectation that he would cancel his schedule for you, he would give you some time, he would respect what you want, what you need, you just know you didn't get it all at the end.
Jin nudges your side pulling you back from the grips of the past.
"You okay darling?" He asks, concern dripping from his voice. That's when you realize you have been too lost in your thoughts to pay any attention to your boyfriend.
"Ah- yeah. I'm fine." You reply, faking a smile as always. It's a good thing that Jin doesn't get how many smiles you fake in a day.
"You look beautiful tonight." He places a soft kiss on your temple. Then he goes back to driving towards your destination. You smile again as your heart fills with guilt.
Jin is a perfect boyfriend. He's handsome, has a decent job, he gets along with your parents really well, he knows how to cook, he respects your choices, he respects your privacy… All in all, he's everything a girl would want. But… he's not the one for you.
There's only one flaw in your and Jin's relationship, which is that you don't love him. You have poured all of your love on Jungkook and your heart is now a wasteland, which sometimes bleeds during midnights and 2 in the mornings when you curse out Jungkook's name crying on the pillow.
"Y/N look at me. Try to look into my eyes, okay baby?" Jungkook holds your body tightly in his as you feel the world around you is morphing into darkness.
"Y/N, can you hear me?" He says again with a trembling voice.
"Yes I- I do." You manage to say.
"Good. Now listen to me. I am here okay? No one can hurt you. I will never let any harm come near you. You know that right? My baby knows that." Jungkook hugs you with everything he has in himself. One of his hands rubs on your back as another stays wrapped around your waist.
Jungkook always knew how to calm you down during your panic attacks. That night when a drunk guy followed you to your apartment and you lost your shit, he made you feel secure. You know no harm can touch you when you are under Jungkook's wings.
You feel your eyes sting with tears. You still love Jungkook till this date. The breakup was mutual. Both of you decided to part your ways given the fact that the relationship was being too frustrating and complicated. But it feels too wrong now. It feels as if there's more to the story. Only now you know you feel way more for Jungkook than you ever thought you did.
Hence, you feel like a criminal whenever you look at Jin's face. He's nothing but sincere, but you still can't love him.
"We're here." Jin parks the car beside something like a park.
It's seven in the evening and you don't know what he has brought you to this park for.
"Park? I thought we were going to that steak house you love so much?" You ask Jin.
"We will. But before that I have a surprise for you." He replies.
"Surprise? Here? But it seems like it's gonna rain?" You stare at the angry red sky from the car window.
"Don't worry. We'll be done soon." Jin mutters before getting out of the car.
You two walk through the park with intertwined hands. The park is beautiful indeed, perfect for couples, perfect for taking cute photos, perfect for you and Jungkook.
Fuck! You're thinking of Jungkook again. You're thinking so much of him that you start hallucinating him.
A figure sitting on a bench approx five meters away from you and Jin looks just like Jungkook. He looks way too much like Jungkook. He is Jungkook!
No! This can't happen. You tug at Jin's hand trying to pull him towards a different direction.
"No. You can't walk back, Y/N." Jin says, stopping on track.
"What-"
"Y/N.." you hear another voice. That familiar one that you love the most. It's Jungkook.
"Jungkook.." your eyes start to sting again.
"Remember I said I had a surprise for you?" Jin smiles at you.
Your eyes widen as you look at him, "B-but how do you-"
"I could detect your fake smiles from the very first week of our relationship, Y/N. All I had to do was to dig up a little bit." Jin's hand loosens grip on yours.
"You deserve to be happy, Y/N. Even if it's not with me." Jin now faces Jungkook, "And you- Don't fuck up this time." With that he walks back, winking at you for one last time. And soon it's only you and Jungkook in this wide, vast park.
"How have you been?" You ask Jungkook.
"Miserable. You?"
"Same." You two stare into each other's eyes. Both of you are only moments away from bursting into tears.
"I- I can't do this without you, Y/N. Life feels like a chore without you. I am only breathing. I have stopped living the day we parted our ways. I- just can't-" Jungkook breaks down into a loud sob.
You take two steps towards him, placing a hand on one of his arms, you say, "Neither can I Jungkook. I felt like a criminal each time I looked at Jin. Each time I looked at him I only searched for you. I love you. I fucking love you. I never stopped loving you." Your own face is now covered with tears.
The sky mirrors your emotions and starts crying too.
You look up at the sky for a moment and then look at Jungkook, you find him looking at you already. He closes the distance between you two and places his lips on yours. You two get so lost in the kiss that you don't even care getting drenched in the pouring rain.
Jungkook parts first, connects his forehead with yours and whispers, "I missed this. I missed screaming and crying and kissing in the rain. I missed you. I missed the way I loved you."
"I missed you too, missed you like crazy, kook." You seal your lips with his again wishing it all to stay forever and beyond.
Okay. I've been carried away by my headcanons about the families of the original ÂŤMystery InkÂť lately. I'll start with the basics.
Brad Chiles: I think he’s from a large family. He has two elder brothers and a younger sister. His father had a car repair shop where Brad worked in his spare time from solving secrets - this part-time job had a good effect on his ability to make traps — with his brothers. And also Brad’s mother was a nurse in the city hospital.
At the time of the second season, his father retired, giving the car repair shop to his eldest son, his mother died by the time Brad and Judy returned to the Crystal Cove. Brad's second brother works as an accountant in a large company/helps his elder brother do business by working with papers, and his younger sister got a job as a kindergarten teacher.
Bonus headcanon about Brad’s family: Fred sometimes stopped by the car repair shop of his biological father's family to repair the «Mystery Machine», and his father's elder brother noticed similarities between him and Brad, but was convinced of their final kinship after Brad and Judy returned to the Crystal Cave.
Judy Reeves: Her father was a sought-after lawyer, and her mother was a housewife. She has an elder sister who was married by the time of her disappearance, and a younger twin sister.
I'll explain now. I had a headcanon about that Judy was a kind of rebel/problem child in her family and that she was often put under house arrest, from which she successfully escaped, and her sisters were role models. This may be a kind of parallel with Daphne, but, in my opinion, it's a pretty funny headcanon, starring Judy and her twin sister, who are the complete opposite of each other. But it's not about that now.
At the time of the series, her elder sister works as an accountant, and the younger one got married and became a housewife, just like their mother. Meanwhile, their parents divorced: their mother stayed in the Crystal Cove, and their father left the city.
Cassidy Williams: Her family did not originally live in the Crystal Cove. They moved there from San Francisco when Cassidy was eight. Her father was a policeman who was transferred to the Crystal Cove police station, and her mother, who previously worked on the radio, after moving got a job as a music teacher at the primary school where Cassidy began to study. She also has a sister who is 14-15 years younger than her and practically does not remember her at the time of the series.
Also at the time of the series, her father retired, her mother still works at an elementary school, and her younger sister studies in San Francisco.
Bonus headcanon about Cassidy's family: Her father taught her and her sister to shoot a gun when they've grown up enough for that (we remember episode 11 of season 2 and realise that Ricky could be afraid of Cassidy’s father because of the presence of a gun under his side).
And finally, Ricky Owens: For some reason it seems to me that he was brought up by a single mother who had to work three jobs after Ricky's father died in a car accident. Yes, you can kick me for that. Professor Pericles appeared when Ricky was about eight. His mom allowed Professor Pericles to stay so that Ricky wouldn't be lonely when she was not at home, we understand that she allowed this parrot to stay was a big mistake but now it's not about that.
But he has a few more relatives besides his mother. For example, a paternal grandfather, from whom Ricky inherited a van, which later became known as the ÂŤEnigma MachineÂť. He also had an aunt on his mother's side living in the city near the Crystal Cove, whom he had never seen. But as a child, he was on good terms with his cousin, her daughter, who was often sent to live with them because of problems at home. She's four years older than him. With the appearance in his life of Professor Pericles and the secrets that had to be solved, they distanced themselves. At the time of his disappearance, she was studying at the Faculty of History at Darrow College.
At the time of the series, Ricky's cousin works as a history teacher in high school and moved to his mother to help her with house.
Bonus headcanons about Ricky’s family: His grandfather was allergic to birds and he was the main Rickidy shipper.
That's all. I hope you like it!
I am so happy to be home. It was such a nice weekend. But man. I missed my house and my bed.
Especially because I slept so poorly last night. My back was killing me. I couldn't get comfortable and I laid wide awake for hours. Jess apparently didn't sleep well either. So we were both pretty quiet this morning. We got home an hour later. Got packed up. I got washed and dressed. And we double checked we had everything before checking out. And then we were off.
We drove down the street to the pancake house again. We had some trouble with parking. They had an app for street parking and it was not user friendly. But Jess sorted it out and we went to have breakfast.
We had the same waitress as yesterday. She recognized us. She was very nice.
Jess got the same little pancakes from yesterday and I decided to get stuffed French toast and it was so good. I was very happy with my choice.
When we finished breakfast we would have enough time to walk back to the town center to go and get the sweatshirts we wanted. This is our third matching sweatshirts of the year. The man and woman who worked there were really nice and complimented out style. We chatted about the sweatshirts for a bit and fashion and it was nice.
We made another little stop at a neat gift shop. Where I bought mini brass spoons. And we just had enough time for coffee (and half and half for me) and got back to the car with 2 minutes to spare.
We started heading out of town. We stopped at an antique store that ended up being a lot of fun. There was a cyber truck in the parking lot which was wild to see close up. They are just. So dumb looking. I saw someone say that they kind of look like a potato you peeled with a knife. I don't disagree.
Jess got quite a few cool things. Some billiards themed shot glasses. An apple pie dish. Some Morton Salt printed cups. I found find a precious little brown bear and the tiniest watch that has scarab beetles around the band. The watch part was broken but I have an idea for the rest of it.
We were in high spirits when we left. We did get a little stuck in the parking lot. But Jess got us out and we were off.
Our last activity was to go to the zoo. I had good memories of this zoo from when I was a kid. My dad's dad Ron lived out in Cape May and while we didn't have much of a relationship, the few times we visited I remember going to this zoo. I thought it was called the popcorn zoo but that ended up being something near by. This was just the county zoo. But it was as good as I remembered. The enclosures all felt large and good and I loved seeing all the animals. There were some favorites. I loved the tortoises. And the otters. The red panda was really active. And the giraffes were amazing. I was just having such a good time. I pet the goats. We talked to a cow. Jess was a bit tired and said we saw "to many animals". Because I drug her all around the park. But it was just a really fun day. Even if we were tired.
We lucked out with the weather and I was just really happy.
Once we were done looking at the animals we went to the cafe for lunch. She got chicken tenders, I got a grilled cheese, we shared fries. I decided to get a souvenir cup because the zoo was free and I always feel like you should support in some way if you get free entry. So the cup would be my souvenir. And when we were done eating we went to the gift shop and Jess got a little crab plushie. Very cute.
We had an hour and a half until we were back at her house. We were quiet most of the ride. Both very tired. It started raining but it was never to bad. We were both just very ready to go home.
We arrived back at Jess's at 345. And after moving all my stuff over and using her bathroom, I was off. Hugs all around and promises to let her know when I got home safe.
And I didn't have a terrible drive. It was raining. I did see a car fire. But it was an hour and a half. I listened to music. Made myself cry listening to show tunes. But I got home at 520 and was very very happy to be back. I was exhausted.
James came outside and hugged on me and helped me bring things inside. I was so happy to see them
I'm really glad our paths crossed tonight before they headed to the football game. James would help me unpack my bag. I was so tired. I just wanted to sit on the bed. I gave them the little gifts I got for them. And they told me about their weekend. We hung out in bed for a half hour before it was time for them to go.
And I would just spend the evening resting. I felt horrible for a bit. I would make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and had some milk and that helped. I tried to pick outfits for the week but I'm not thrilled with them so that may change. I would hang out with sweetp. Tidy up some stuff around the house. I took a bath. I washed my hair. I painted my toes. I just chilled.
Now I'm laying in bed texting James because I think there is a mosquito in here and it keeps biting me. Very annoying how itchy my hand is. But it's fine. I'll live. I guess!!
James still won't be home for a while. But I think I will start getting ready for bed. It was a very long weekend. And such a wonderful time but I am very very tired.
Tomorrow I'm going to spend the day with my husband and it will be a lovely day. I hope you all have a great night. Sleep well. Until tomorrow!
Suptober day 4 - Commencement
Castiel completes his training with Rowena, and it all goes very fast after that!
A new part to my 2019 series Rowena's Shop
Suptober prompt: Nimbus Flufftober Prompt: Cinderella Moment Fictober Prompt: “Do you even know what this means?” Inktober Prompt: Dodge
(Read on AO3)
“Oh, well done, Castiel! Very well done, indeed! You've gotten it exactly right! Look!!”
Comfy and dozing in his overstuffed armchair, Dean can hear Rowena's words of effusive affirmation drifting in through the curtained doorway to the back of the store. The cooing, approving tone of her voice is one she's never used with him, of course, but Cas has been drawing it out of her more and more often lately as he's neared the completion of his studies. From the sound of it, he's just ticked another box on the list of spells he needs to master before he “graduates,” whatever that word means for a literal sorcerer's apprentice in the Year of our Lord 2023.
He's starting to doze off again when his boyfriend comes bursting through the doorway, a wide, gummy grin on his handsome face.
“Did you hear?!? I did it!!” he trumpets.
Dean stands to give him a hug. “I heard, honeybee! Nice work!! Does that mean you guys are done for the day, or are you taking a break? Maybe we could go grab a late lunch...?”
Cas gives him a firm, full-bodied squeeze, then pulls away, shaking his head. “No, beloved, I did it. That was the last one. I'm finished. Do you even know what this means?”
Dean watches, mouth agape, as he murmurs a few sibilant words and flicks a finger. The cozy glow of the shop's chandelier dims as a nimbus of luminescent power gathers around Cas's head. The blue highlights in his hair coil and eddy, then the color surges, flowing down the man's body and draping it in a floor-length brocade cloak that perfectly matches his gorgeous eyes. It's a Cinderella Moment if Dean's ever seen one.
“Holy shit,” he mutters.
“Indeed,” Rowena intones sarcastically as she walks into the room. “Eloquent as ever, I see.”
“Hey, screw you, Broom Hilda,” Dean snipes back. “Forgive me for being in awe of my boyfriend the fucking wizard.” He rolls his eyes at her and turns back to Cas. “So, what happens now? Can we celebrate? Go out for a nice dinner? Or should we just skip to dessert?” It's a cheesy line, but God help him, that little display of power got him so freaking turned on. If Rowena wasn't here he would 100% be on his knees right now.
Cas seems to be on the same wavelength, because he's got a dirty smirk on his face. He opens his mouth to respond, but Rowena throws up a waggling finger.
“Ah ah ah, there'll be plenty of time for that sort of business later. Right now I need your help with the last o'my cases.” She gestures behind her, at a teetering pile of steamer chests that definitely was not there a minute ago.
And the same-wavelength thing must still be in effect, because the two of them reply in unison, “Wait, what?”
“I've been stuck here long enough, boys. Now that you're ready, Castiel, I'll be goin' walkabout for a bit.” She points again at the trunks, an imperious quirk to her brow, and the two men scramble to fill their arms.
Rowena herself picks up the tiniest, daintiest little handbag and leads them, shuffling under the immense weight of her luggage, out the side door to the alley. Her car, like her a sporty little compact number of indeterminate age, make, and origin, seems much too small to hold so many massive cases. But of course, like magic, it all fits neatly into the boot, with ample room to spare.
Dean slams the lid down, then rounds on her. “So, what, Cas finished his training five minutes ago and you're getting outta Dodge? How long are you gonna be gone? What's gonna happen to the store? Wh–”
Whatever other question he'd been about to ask dies on his tongue when she snaps her fingers. (He's honestly not sure whether she did a silencing spell on him or he's just terrified of her.)
“It's tradition, you utter gowk. I've nothing more to teach our Castiel, and the shop practically runs itself, has done for centuries. And, much as I loathe to admit it, you've become quite an exemplary assistant in all the years you've been lollygaggin' around here waiting for your fella to do his lessons. The pair of ya'll do fine. And I'll be back around, in a few months or years or... Well, eventually. Cheerybye, boys!”
And she's gone, in a puff of sweet-smelling exhaust.
Dean and Cas stare at each other for a full minute, slack-jawed and stunned. Finally, Dean gathers himself enough to break the silence.
“Honeybee,” he says hoarsely. “What the fuck.”
