How to go from Delhi to Himachal?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Traveling from Delhi to Himachal Pradesh can be done by various means, including road, train, and air. The choice of transportation depends on your preferences and the specific destination within Himachal Pradesh you plan to visit. Here are the most common options:
By Road (Bus/Car):Bus: You can take a bus from Delhi to various cities and towns in Himachal Pradesh. Several state-run and private bus operators offer services. The journey duration depends on your destination within Himachal Pradesh, but it generally takes around 8 to 12 hours to reach Shimla, for example. You can book tickets online or at the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Delhi.
Car: If you prefer more flexibility and have your vehicle or want to rent one, you can drive from Delhi to Himachal Pradesh. The distance and driving time will vary depending on your destination. The road network is generally good, but some areas may have steep and winding roads, so be prepared for varying road conditions.
By Train:There are no direct trains from Delhi to major cities in Himachal Pradesh. However, you can take a train to a nearby railway station like Chandigarh or Kalka, and then continue your journey to Himachal Pradesh by road. The Kalka-Shimla Railway is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers a scenic route to Shimla.
By Air:The nearest airport to many popular destinations in Himachal Pradesh is the Chandigarh International Airport (IXC). You can take a flight from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi to Chandigarh, and then proceed to your destination in Himachal Pradesh by road. Alternatively, there are also airports in places like Dharamshala (Gaggal Airport) and Kullu-Manali (Bhuntar Airport), but flight options may be limited compared to Chandigarh.

Before your trip, make sure to check the availability of transportation options, book tickets in advance when necessary, and consider the weather conditions, especially if you plan to travel during the winter months when some areas in Himachal Pradesh may experience heavy snowfall.
How much is taxi from Delhi to Shimla?
The cost of a taxi from Delhi to Shimla can vary depending on several factors, including the type of taxi, the route taken, the time of day, and any additional services or stops you require. However, as of my last knowledge update in September 2021, I can provide you with a rough estimate.
One-way Taxi: The cost of a one-way taxi from Delhi to Shimla can range from approximately INR 3,500 to INR 6,000 or more for a standard sedan or hatchback, depending on the taxi service provider and the vehicle's condition. The price may increase for larger vehicles like SUVs or if you opt for a luxury car.
Round-trip Taxi: If you plan to hire a taxi for a round trip (Delhi to Shimla and back to Delhi), the cost may be higher than a one-way trip and can range from INR 7,000 to INR 12,000 or more for a standard sedan.
Keep in mind that these are approximate estimates, and the actual prices may vary. Prices can also change over time due to factors like inflation and changes in fuel prices. It's advisable to contact local taxi service providers or use online taxi booking platforms to get current rates and make reservations in advance for a more accurate and up-to-date pricing.
Additionally, if you hire a taxi, you may need to consider toll charges, parking fees, and any additional charges for stops or detours along the way. Be sure to discuss all these details with the taxi service provider before finalizing your booking.
