Some lovely friends of mine said I should set this up, even if I have a hard time accepting help like this. My car just had it's suspension shot out of nowhere, and the repairs costed 1,650$ I was able to get a bit of it through art commissions but I am still far behind and in order to get my car back I had to use my money that would normally go to rent, my car payment/insurance payment, and food.

I'm still catching up on commissions that I owe, or I would offer those as well, but this is about all I can do right now.

My car completely broke at the gas station on the way to a con I'm selling at. I was supposed to be at my table two hours ago.

Turns out my car's starter decided to break, and that's a $500 part (not including service and installation). I'll have nothing left after I pay rent on Tuesday other than funds for like.. food.

I hate to ask for help, and I'd open emergency commissions, but I don't want to extend my queue any further than it already is for the people who have been currently waiting so patiently. So.. if you have the means and like my dumb doodles, anything helps.

here's the deal! my truck won't start, period, and so far i've narrowed it down to either the fuses or the starter, and it's looking more and more like it's the starter.

however, a starter for my truck is going to cost me $200 which is not really in my budget at the moment! i've recieved some financial help from some friends, but i'm currently the sole income for my home and i am supporting my disabled partner and our three cats.

So this is gonna cost roughly 200 to fix, turns out the HVAC actuator isnt working right, or at least a part of it. If it breaks, it'll cost northward of a thousand and I don't have that. This is not even factoring labor costs as they'll have to take apart my dashboard to find the issue.

I'll be without my car for a full day while it's getting fixed, and even before that I don't think I want to risk busting the AC as it's currently been a streak of 90s feeling like 100s.

here's the cost of living breakdown for Alabama, one of the least expensive states in the country to live it. annual income requirement to achieve "barely not struggling" (that's what "living wage" means, it means "how much money you have to earn to not be struggling financially") by the standards of MIT are the bottom row.

the website SmartAsset applied the 50/30/20 budget rule to this data from MIT to calculate how much it would take for someone to live comfortably (ie, above bare minimum "living wage") in each state and concluded it takes a minimum of 78k for a single adult in West Virginia, the cheapest state in the country.

standard disclaimer that I have personally never made anything near a living wage in my life, much less a comfortable wage, and am deeply in medical debt and so disabled I can't stand for more than a few hours a day. i just think it's important that other Americans are fully aware of just how poor they really are, and what "wealth" actually means in vast regions of the country. inflation and housing price increases have been so rapid, and the percentage of young adults managing their own households has dropped so significantly in the past twenty years (these things are related), that 90% of this website userbase is just completely unaware of what anything costs, and this isn't good for your financial literacy or ability to take care of yourselves.

Greetings, friends. This isn't for me, it's for my friend @tyladoesthings who I met at my local tech school in-person. We both really wish this wasn't necessary, but things have gotten- difficult.

In short, she has been saving and raising money to move out of her family's house, getting to a safe space in a different state after she had a near un-closeting scare back in April. Yesterday, however, she got into a car accident. She's okay physically, but all of those savings are going towards repairs. Her original plan was to get out of there in about 2 weeks, but now that plan is in jeopardy.

Basics

This is the starting point, where you pick the level of what you want. From sketch (basic blocking out and concept, typically will be done in traditional pencil) to full (shading and rendering)

Background

Backround options. Simple (for me is either a solid background or a gradient. I pick the colours for this one unless you have requests.) to Basic detail (being in a room, set-dressing for the character, ect) to Complex (fighting scene, detailed background like cityscapes or nature scenes. Here you have more control on what exactly you want, instead of a generalized idea. I will complete this to the best of my ability)

Style

Here is where we get a little creative. I've toyed with different styles and challenges. For limited pallets, you can provide me with a colour pallet you want to see me transform into your character, or I can generate a few for you to pick from.

As for the Random Blorbo, this is a fun challenge I wish to do where I build you a new character. You can give me a few details you want seen, otherwise its completely up in the air what you get.

Fun Stuff

For this section, you can have custom borders done for your personal use. Be it for framing a picture you like, to spruce up your page or blog, or to frame up a personal project you have going (example: making your own tcg, tarot card, ect)

As for the cards, this is where I create a card featuring one of your characters each. Like a tcg or a tarot, or whichever you want to see.

Ref sheets are pretty straight forward. I'll provide two-three headshots + full body + interesting facts you want included. This also included, if you wish it, personal items said character may have to showcase.

I know this is out of the blue, but when things happen they don't give you a forewarning.

I was involved in a car accident yesterday. Fresh with a new N, only had my car for a week to myself, I found myself hydroplaning into a traffic control post and side-swiping a car in the process.

Thankfully, they got off with cosmetic damage and a cracked tail-light as i avoided rear-ending them.

Myself, however, ended up with a banged bumper, a passenger mirror nearly beheaded and a crack radiator. Lucky, considering what could have happened, but still terrifying.

It was after this i learned that my insurance wouldn't cover the collision, meaning I'd have to cover everything out of pocket. Money I don't really have at the moment. Not with the other debts I've been steadily paying off.

I don't know the grand total yet, I'm still waiting for my car to be released so I can take it to a body shop. But from how expensive cars can be, with some insight from those around me, I can make a good guess at a "starting" amount. I'll update the total once I know though.

But I'm now asking for help. I don't expect anything for free, I will be making things in exchange. I've wanted to open commissions for a while, its just sad that what made me finally pull the trigger is when I'm in trouble. I'll link my kofi, the prices will be set to pay-as-you-want. I'll work out details for what people want, and I'll have a list of things I don't think I can do.

Todays WIP that will go nowhere-- Eddie realizing Steve is a good person not through the Party, or anything that happens in S4, but by witnessing his weird ass interactions with Jonathan Byers.

The guy publicly decked him, "stole" (Eddie does not believe one can "steal" a person outside of kidnapping but that's how the rumor mill is phrasing it) Steve's girlfriend, and if Carol Perkins is to be believed, took creep-shot photos of him having sex and yet:

Eddie has now repeatedly witnessed the two of them not just making nice with each other, but outright beelining for each other.

Taking in harsh whispers, going places together, cars following each other, and half the time there's a bunch of kids with them instead of Nancy.

Jonathan is notorious for being a loner even by Eddie's standards and yet he reacts to Steve the same way one reacts to a trustworthy member of the family--with relief.

They're not even that nice with each other--Eddie's heard them trade insults.

(The whole school and likely half of Hawkins has heard them trade insults.)

Eddie's been involved in the wrong crowd long enough to recognize when two people have a sort of unshakable trust with each other, that "I hate you but I have your back" partner in crime vibe that his father always exploited, but with Steve and Jonathan it's real.

And that is what constantly makes Eddie look different at Steve.

Not the kids, though he gives Dustin all the shit he can over his giant case of "Harrington Worship", but because he keeps thinking Steve is going to be shitty, has always assumed Steve was being shitty, and now that Steve has actually caught Eddie's eye its impossible to miss that he isn't/
