6 Most Common Problems with Mazda CX-5 Explained
Tumblr media
Introduction:
Mazda CX-5, the epitome of style and performance in the world of SUVs, has garnered a loyal fan base for its sleek design, robust engineering, and delightful driving experience. However, like any other vehicle, it's not immune to its share of issues. In this blog post, we'll delve into the six most common problems that CX-5 owners might encounter, offering insights and solutions to keep your Mazda running smoothly on the road.
1. Mazda CX-5 Transmission Issues:
Tumblr media
Among the most reported problems with Mazda CX-5 is transmission-related issues. Some owners have experienced jerky shifts, hesitation during acceleration, or even complete transmission failure. This could be attributed to faulty transmission control modules or clutch problems. Regular maintenance checks and timely fluid changes can help mitigate these issues. If you notice any unusual behaviour in your CX-5's transmission, it's crucial to get it inspected by a qualified mechanic promptly.
2. Mazda CX-5 Infotainment System Glitches:
Tumblr media
As technology becomes increasingly integrated into modern vehicles, the infotainment system plays a central role in the driving experience. However, Mazda CX-5 owners have occasionally faced glitches in their infotainment systems, such as freezing screens, unresponsive controls, or Bluetooth connectivity issues. Updating the system software regularly and resetting the infotainment system can often resolve these issues. In some cases, a software update from Mazda may be required to address persistent problems.
3. Mazda CX-5 Noise from Suspension Components:
Tumblr media
While Mazda CX-5 is renowned for its smooth and comfortable ride, some owners have reported noises emanating from suspension components, particularly over bumps or rough terrain. These noises can be attributed to worn-out bushings, struts, or sway bar links. A thorough inspection by a qualified technician can help identify the source of the noise, and replacing the faulty components can restore the tranquillity of your CX-5's ride.
4. Mazda CX-5 Fuel Pump Failures Issues:
Tumblr media
Fuel pump failures have been cited by some Mazda CX-5 owners as a recurring issue. Symptoms may include difficulty starting the engine, stalling, or loss of power while driving. A failing fuel pump can disrupt the fuel delivery system, leading to engine performance issues. Regular inspection of the fuel system and prompt replacement of a worn-out fuel pump can prevent potential breakdowns and ensure the smooth operation of your CX-5.
5. Mazda CX-5 Paint Quality Issues:
Tumblr media
While Mazda is renowned for its attention to design and aesthetics, some CX-5 owners have expressed dissatisfaction with the paint quality, reporting instances of premature chipping, peeling, or fading. Environmental factors, such as exposure to sunlight and road debris, can exacerbate paint damage over time. Applying a protective wax coating regularly and promptly addressing any paint imperfections can help preserve the appearance of your CX-5 and prevent further deterioration.
6. Mazda CX-5 Electrical Issues:
Tumblr media
Electrical gremlins can plague any modern vehicle, and Mazda CX-5 is no exception. Owners have reported various electrical issues, ranging from malfunctioning power windows and door locks to erratic dashboard warning lights. These problems could stem from wiring harness issues, faulty sensors, or a drained battery. Regular battery checks, ensuring proper grounding of electrical components, and addressing any wiring issues can help minimize the risk of electrical failures in your CX-5.

Keyless Repeater With FBS4
Keyless Repeater With FBS4. This keyless entry system repeater combines all the features of the Dexp Car Repeater Multibrand, but with the addition of FBS3 and FBS4 options to expand the range. Keyless entry systems are used to remotely lock, unlock and start your vehicle’s engine using RF signals.
The presence of FBS4 allows you to successfully interact with AUDI and Mercedes vehicles older than 2013.
The device has been successfully tested on more than 500+ modern vehicle models of all popular brands. You can find the list of support below.
Keyless Repeater With FBS4 Keyless Go repeater
(keyless entry system repeater) is a strong smart key signal amplifier to a vehicle (motorcycle, car, moped, jet ski, yacht, boat, truck, bus, scooter, snowmobile, agricultural machinery, etc.), all means that work on wireless access technology Keyless Entry/Go.
Dexp keyless repeater Multibrand with FBS4 creates a remote link between a vehicle and its native smart key up to 400 meters (1312.4 feet or approximately 1/4 mile) in diameter. The device is designed to remotely control the lock and engine of the vehicle, allows you to open the vehicle and start its engine while the native smart key is placed far away at a distance of up to 400 meters from your vehicle. Thus, this Keyless repeater significantly increases the signal from the key, as if the smart key is right next to the car, and not at a great distance. At the same time, the repeater Keyless Go simulates the request and fully reproduces all steps of the native encrypted communication between the key and the vehicle.
This allows you to fully use the vehicle as if it were a smart key in your hands, and not at a great distance. Access to the door locks appears, the doors open, and the vehicle receives this signal from the keyless repeater to start the engine when the start button is pressed, which allows you to drive the vehicle without a smart key. The “answer” signal to the car comes from the key (the distance can vary from 50 meters to 300 meters and depends on the type of key and the battery level inside the key). Allows you to open the doors, trunk, and start the engines of vehicles including 2021 models.
Legality of Keyless Repeater With  FBS4
Repeater Model Dexp Multibrand + FBS4 is a completely legal tool, since this device only amplifies the signal that is transmitted in its original encoded form and is not decoded by the device or recorded/copied, in other words, the process of identity theft is not performed by this device. A keyless repeater makes it so that other devices on these open frequencies work more efficiently, efficiently and over long distances. For example, an ordinary home radiotelephone together with this device will work 400 meters farther (the distance from the base to the phone) and the connection will be of better quality, since the device only amplifies the communication signal, while the device does not have access to phone conversation data, it does not reads, does not write or transmit, which makes this device completely legal.
Device operating modes
3 operating modes of the device:
Multibrand
Toyota and Lexus including 2021 models

You likely drive a Commodore Corolla or LandCruiser according to these maps
Maps of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane show the most common cars registered to each ZIP code – but it’s bad news for electric car advocates. 0 Opinion 5 photos A new study revealed They are the most popular cars registered in major Australian capitals. Financial advisory and audit group KPMG He detailed the types of cars Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane residents prefer based on zip code – with one car doing the chopping despite not being sold locally for about two years. The Holden Commodore – which has not been offered here since Holden closed its doors in late 2020 – remains one of the popular cars registered in Australia’s cities, along with Toyota HiLux, Toyota Corolla, Toyota LandCruiser and Mazda 3. Opinion 5 photos The study shows that the Corolla dominates the greater Sydney area, with the Commodore and Landcruiser more popular along the outer edges, while the Mazda3 is the car of choice in some of Sydney’s northern suburbs and the outer east. The Corolla is also the preferred mode of transportation for those who live near Brisbane’s central business district, while those who live far and away prefer LandCruiser, with some areas in the West and Northwest tending to contest the popularity of the Commodore. It’s a different story in Melbourne, as the Commodore is the most-recorded car in the outer suburbs, while the inner suburbs favor the Corolla. Opinion 5 photos There’s a little more variety in Victoria, with some pockets choosing the Camry, and areas closer to the center of Melbourne leaning toward the Volkswagen Golf and Mazda 3. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, of the more than 20 million registered vehicles, the average age of the registered fleet in the country is about 10.6 years. Maps from KPMG correlate roughly with sales data from a decade ago. Opinion 5 photos Back in time in 2011, Mazda 3, Holden Commodore, Toyota Corolla, Holden Cruze and Hyundai i30 won the top five new car sales respectively. It wasn’t until 2012 when HiLux climbed to second place behind the Mazda 3, while Corolla, Commodore and Cruze all got rid of the remaining spots, only outperforming the i30. These latter findings clearly show a preference for smaller cars in the inner city areas, while those in the outer suburbs choose larger vehicles with large engines – suggesting a potential challenge for those proposing the switch to zero-emissions cars. Opinion 5 photos Maps created for the report Accelerate the domestic electric vehicle absorption where it is important, It highlights the point that Australian motorists outside of city centers tend to gravitate towards larger cars with large engines. Up to this point, most electric cars for sale were mostly smaller models, such as the Nissan Leaf and BMW i3. Despite being nearly a decade old, larger battery-powered cars like the Tesla Model S still command a premium in the used car market. Assuming the average age of registered cars does not change significantly, it will likely be the mid-2030s before the majority of Australian motorists switch to zero-emissions cars – a decade after SUVs and electric trucks are sold here. The worst NEW EV to go on sale in 2021 - AVOID
The Electric Viking
The worst NEW EV to go on sale in 2021 - AVOID!
P.S. I agree! Now, it is not 2011 or 2016. The 'concept' of a two cars is a complete miss of the target. It seems that the authors of the ‘concept’ do not know what is happening in the electric car market at all and they absolutely do not understand what electric cars buyers want!
In Latvia, base model Mazda MX-30  with 35.5 kWh (30 kWh usable) battery has a price tag - 33 990 €! (Real Range: between 120 - 255 km; City - Cold Weather - 170 km; Highway - Cold Weather-120 km; Combined - Cold Weather- 145 km)...
Look at the competition!?!  For example in Latvia, Opel/Vauxhall Mokka-e with 52 kWh battery has a price tag -  33 590 €, and real range: between 175 - 370 km;  City - Cold Weather *250 km; Highway - Cold Weather *175 km; Combined - Cold Weather *210 km..
Check prices and specs of these electric vehicles: Peugeot e-2008, Citroen e-C4, VW ID.3 (electric hatchback), Peugeot e-208, Opel Corsa-e and etc...   In some Western European countries, 2022 MG ZS EV (facelift) electric crossover (Unfortunately, it isn’t available in Latvia) is very serious competitor against Mazda-MX30...

Some tips for buying a used car for people that know nothing about cars
I’m a mechanic/auto shop owner. I figured I’d put some stuff together for anyone interested in buying a used car but doesn’t know anything about cars. Obviously the best option is to take it to an auto shop to have it thoroughly inspected by a professional before you buy it. The key word here is BEFORE you buy it. I don’t know how many people I’ve had come to my shop for an inspection after they bought it….ugghh. The $150 or so you spend is worth not buying something that may have thousands of dollars of problems. But if that’s not an option, here are some tips to help keep you from buying a lemon:
1-Buy a cheap OBD scanner/reader. You don’t need to spend a lot, as they’ll all do what you need here. A bluetooth OBD reader and the TORQ app for you phone seems to be pretty popular/good choice. Practice using it on some cars. Some of the stuff I'm going over may seem daunting, but if you practice it on a car a few times, you'll get the hang of it, and this will all make sense. You could be saving yourself thousands in repair here, so take a few hours to practice it. It's not hard once you do. You should be able to do all of the stuff I'm going to talk about with your scanner in under 5 mins total. You don’t have to worry about reading and interpreting data. The main thing you want to do is check for codes in the engine and transmission ECUs. ECU stands for Electronic Contrul Unit. Basically, it's the computer that controls the engine or transmission. They are sometimes referred to as ECM, or Engine Control Module, and TCM, or Transmission Control Module. Sometimes they'll be referred to as PCM, or Powertrain Control Module. This is what it's called when only one computer controls both the engine and automatic transmission. The PCM may be one physical computer, but logically, it's 2 computers. So if you connect your scanner to a PCM, you'll still see two separate options, one for engine, and one for transmission. Do note that if you have a manual transmission, there won't be a transmission computer.
So when you connect to each one, there should be no codes in either. If there are codes, there’s an issue. It may be minor, it may be major. Google it if you want, but not knowing what the codes mean, your best bet is to walk away. If your scanner is a better one, you can also check other modules (computers) for codes. However, it’s pretty common on newer cars, especially European, to find obscure codes in obscure modules. Normally they’re not an issue. Focus on the Engine and Transmission. ABS (antilock brakes) and SRS (safety restrain system...airbags, seat belts, etc) modules normally shouldn’t have codes lingering either. Make sure to also check after test driving. The codes may have been reset by the seller to hide a problem (more on that in the next paragraph). They may have returned during your test drive, so check again!
Use the scanner to check the monitors on the engine ECU/Computer. Monitors are a series of self checks that the ECU does on the engine. All applicable monitors should be set (passed/complete). They get reset when you clear the check engine light, or when you disconnect the battery (usually). If all of the monitors haven’t passed, then it’s quite likely the person selling it has reset the check engine light recently (may be trying to hide a problem), or there’s a problem that isn’t allowing the monitor to complete. Not a good sign. Walk away. To complete all of the monitors can take quite a few miles and sometimes several days. So there's a good window there for you to catch someone doing some hanky panky.
2. Crank the engine without starting it. What you want to do is listen to the engine during a continuous crank. On American cars and on Mazdas, this is easy, as they have what’s known as a Clear Flood Mode. You turn the key to the on position, wait a few seconds, depress the gas pedal all the way, then try to start it. The engine will crank away without starting for as long as you hold the key (or in the case of a push button start, until you hit the button again). If the engine starts, quickly let off the gas so you don’t revv up the engine too high and try it again. You’ll want to listen to it for a good 10 seconds or so. This is a very easy way to check compression on an engine. The main thing you hear when cranking an engine is the electric starter working to try and spin the engine. As a piston comes up and compresses the air, the starter has to work harder to spin the engine, and the speed/pitch of the starter changes. Once the piston comes back down, it’s easier to spin the engine, so the speed/pitch changes back, and then repeats as each consecutive piston moves up in the compression stroke. Every engine sounds different, but they all should have a very steady rhythmic starting noise. Kind of a WAAA WAAA WAAA WAAA WAAA. If one or more of the cylinders has low compression, you will hear the starter have an off-rhythmic sound that repeats. So for instance, if you have a 4 cylinder engine with one low compression cylinder, it would sound like WAAA WAAA WA WAAA WAAA WAAA WA WAAA WAAA WAAA WA WAAA etc. Every 4th pitch change will sound different than the other 3.
For reference, here’s what a normal cranking sound should be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6v0h_Ygqox0
Here’s what a low compression cylinder cranking sounds like. It’s at about :55 secs :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOghpmVhVng
If you listen closely, you’ll hear the unsteady rhythm. Loss of compression is usually piston rings, valves, or head gasket. All costly. If the engine sounds funny when cranking, walk away.
If the car you’re looking at doesn’t have a clear flood mode, you can remove the fuel pump relay in the engine compartment fuse box, which turns off the fuel pump. Most cars have one, but some don’t. Some cars can be a real PITA to disable it from starting. Google the car you’re looking at with something like “YYYY Make Model clear flood” or “YYYY Make Model disable fuel pump” and see if there’s an easy way to achieve this. I'm sure there will be a Youtube video showing you exactly how to do this.
Practice this beforehand on cars you have access to if possible to tune your ear to the sound. You can also do this periodically on your own car to see if any problems are arising.
3. Check the fluids. All of the fluids will have minimum/maximum marks. If fluids are low, someone has not been maintaining the car well, or it has developed a leak. Not a good sign. When checking the engine oil, it should range from clear to black. If it looks like chocolate milkshake, there is a major problem. RUN AWAY. You can also smell the oil on the dipstick to see if it smells like gasoline. If it smells like raw gasoline, the engine is either injecting way too much fuel or you have bad piston rings. Either way they're bad. If the oil level is WAY above the full mark, like an inch or more, then either some other fluid is making it's way into the engine (very bad) or someone sucks at doing an oil change. Remember to check the oil with the engine off and on level ground. Some new cars don’t have dipsticks (mainly European). If so, you’re SOL. Check the coolant in the reservoir. It should be green, pink, red, yellow, orange, blue, or purple, depending on manufacturer. If it’s rusty, walk away. Remove the radiator cap (only if the engine is cold) and look at the cap and in the radiator. If you see any rust or chunky/gritty brown stuff, walk away. If it’s just water, walk away (be careful here, Ford’s yellow coolant almost looks clear). Check the automatic transmission fluid. For the most part, it should be red, but sometimes amber or green. It may be black. That’s dirty. Not a deal breaker, but they haven’t been keeping up on maintenance. It should not smell burnt, though. That’s bad. If it looks like strawberry milkshake, that’s really bad. Also, remember that you should check the level on automatic transmissions while the engine is running in Park and after driving it and getting the transmission good and hot. The only exception is most Hondas. That’s checked after driving but with the engine off. Google it for the car you plan on looking at to make sure. Many new cars don’t have a transmission dipsticks, so again, you’re SOL there.
4. Start the engine and listen for any noises. The engine should be cold. If it’s at operating temperature, the seller may have warmed it up to hide some cold start engine noises. Be wary. If it makes any noises, walk away.
5. Look for maintenance records. If it has consistent oil change records at an oil change place, at least they’ve been changing the oil. Unfortunately, oil change places only check easy profitable stuff. It’s better than nothing, though. If the records are all at an independent shop, that’s better. Indy’s will usually do a pretty thorough check up on the car when servicing it. If it has all dealer records, that’s the holy grail. Dealers will find any nick nack that’s wrong and upsell it. They also commonly don’t do thorough diagnostics (this is an unfortunate effect of the way dealer shops operate). So if it needed repairs, on top of having new parts that needed replacing, it may have other new parts that it didn’t even need. Plus those new parts will be good quality OEM parts, not chines junk of questionable quality.
6. Check that everything works on the car. Check the A/C, the heater, the windows, the locks, the mirrors, the head/parking/brake lights, etc. If the owner neglected to fix obvious problems, what else did they decide not to fix?
7. Look under the hood and look for any hokey work. Random zip ties holding things on, tape, broken plastic pieces, a battery that can move around if you push on it, wires hanging, etc. If it looks like unprofessional work has been done on what you can see, how bad is what you can’t see?
8. How does the car look? Is it dirty, full of scratches, stained? If the owner cares so little about the interior/exterior, they probably have the same attitude towards the mechanical part of it.
9. Check the tires. Aside from general condition, do they all match? If all the tires are different, they’re cheap/broke, and have probably cheaped out on a lot more than just tires. Lay your hand flat on the tire tread and light feel around the tires. If you feel a repeating pattern of flat spots/dips, you have suspension problems.
10. Try and stay away from used car dealers. Used car dealers get the majority of their cars from auctions. A lot of cars that go to auction are sent there by someone that doesn’t want it, usually because there are problems. Not all, but many. New car dealers send trade-ins that are too old or the wrong make to put on their lot, and some of those are decent. However, the small used car dealers usually buy the bottom of the barrel cars at auction. They’ll fix the minimum needed with the cheapest parts possible to maximize profit. They’ll make it look pretty, though. Good chance you’re buying a polished turd. Not all used car dealers are bad, though. Check reviews. Look at what they have on the lot. If they have a lot of high resale value cars on the lot, they're buying the good stuff at acution. If all of their cars are under $10k, with a lot under $5k, move on.
11. Obviously, test drive the car. Drive it at different speeds up to highway speeds. Brake easy, brake hard. Find a crappy road or railroad tracks to drive over. Make sure there are no noises or vibrations. Get it good and warm. When you’re done, open the hood and take a good whiff. Make sure there are no strong smells (like burning fluids or other things). Look under the car and see if anything is dripping or the bottom of the engine is covered in fluids (bring a flashlight, it can get dark under there). Don’t be alarmed if you see water dripping under the car at about the same area as the base of the windshield/firewall. If the A/C or defroster was on, that is just condensate from the A/C system. Touch it. If it’s not oily and looks/feels like water, it should be OK. If you’re test driving a manual car, the clutch engagement point should be somewhere in the middle of the clutch pedal travel. If it’s right at the top or right at the bottom, clutch repairs are in the near future.
12. This one is a little more advanced, but not too difficult. It’s also pretty important. You’ll need your OBD scanner. What you want to do is look at the engine data and search for the fuel trims. An engine computer injects fuel based on a bunch of sensor inputs. It has a base fuel map programmed into it that it references, based on those sensor inputs, and injects XXX amount of fuel. There is an oxygen sensor in the exhaust system that analyzes the exhaust gas and acts like a quality control inspector. It tells the computer whether it injected too much or too little fuel. The computer then makes adjustments to that base fuel map to make sure it’s injecting the proper amount of fuel. Those adjustments are called fuel trims. A 5% fuel trim would mean the computer had to add 5% more fuel than the base map. A -5% fuel trim would mean that the computer had to reduce fuel by 5% from the base fuel map. In a perfect world, fuel trims would be zero. However, that’s rarely the case. Fuel quality, different atmospheric conditions, engine wear, engine or sensor problems, etc, make it so that the base fuel map is never perfect, so the computer is always adding or subtracting fuel (usually it’s adding, but sometimes it’s subtracting). I don’t like to see a computer adding or subtracting more than 10% fuel. Any more than that and there may be a problem. Any more than 15-20% and there is definitely a problem.
So what you’re going to want to do is look at the data on the engine computer. You want to make sure you connect to the computer using the GENERIC OBD2 option on your scanner. Different car manufacturers will call these fuel trims by different names, and display the percentage in different ways. If you connect to the engine computer the standard way, you may be confused trying to find and read the fuel trims. But if you connect using the generic obd option, it’s always going to use a standardized display format across all vehicles. Some really cheap OBD scanners only connect using the generic OBD protocol. You’re going to see a long list of a bunch of different data. Scroll through until you find “short term fuel trim” and “long term fuel trim”. I'm not going to explain what the difference between those two data parameters are, as that doesn't matter here, and may end up being confusing. I'm just going to tell you what to do with the values you see.
Short term fuel trim, depending on your scanner, may be displayed as: Short term fuel trim, STFT, ST, or ST%
Long term fuel trim may be displayed as: Long Term Fuel Trim, LTFT, LT, or LT%
Let’s assume your scanner uses the more common STFT and LTFT designation. You’re going to see a number after the letters, so STFT1 and LTFT1. The number means the “bank” or side of the engine. A 4 cylinder engine only has one “side” so you’ll only see STFT1 and LTFT1. However, a V6 or V8 engine has two sides of the engine (3 or 4 cylinders on one side, and 3 or 4 cylinder on the other side, hence the V6 or V8). The computer controls fuel independently for each side of the engine, so you’ll see a STFT1 and LTFT1 for one side of the engine, and STFT2 and LTFT2 for the other side. Don’t be alarmed if you’re looking at a V6 or V8 engine and you only see STFT1 and LTFT1. Many late 90s cars and some early 2000s cars didn’t control fuel separately for each side of the engine, and lumped both sides into one bank.
When looking at the short term and long term fuel trims, you’ll notice the long term fuel trim number stays pretty steady, but the short term fuel trim number may change a lot. This is normal. What is important to note is that they are cumulative. So if STFT=4 and LTFT=3, then your total fuel trim is 7%. Let’s take a look at some examples on a V8:
STFT1 : 3 ... STFT2 : 6
LTFT1 : 2 ... LTFT2 : 1
So the total fuel trim on bank 1 is 5% (3+2) and the total fuel trim on bank 2 is 7% (6+1). Each bank is below +/- 10%. That’s pretty good.
STFT1 : -5 ... STFT2 : 3
LTFT1 : 3 ... LTFT2 : 1
Bank 1 fuel trim is -2% (-5 +3) and bank 2 is 4% (3+1). Again, that’s good.
STFT1 : 6 ... STFT2 : 7
LTFT1 : 10 ... LTFT2 :15
Bank 1 fuel trim is 16% (6+10) and bank 2 is 22% (7+15). That’s not good. Walk away from this one.
Here's one more that's a littlte different:
STFT1 : -20 ... STFT2 : -20
LTFT1 : 22 ... LTFT2 : 20
Hey, 2% and 0% total fuel trim on each bank. SWEET! this car is running almost perfect! Well not really. Why is the LTFT adding 22% but then the STFT is taking a bunch of it back? There may be an intermittent issue going on here. So add the absolute values together as well (treat -20 as 20) and see what that total is. Here we have 42 and 40. There's some interpretation required here that you'd need some experience to do, but I'd say anything over 25 when adding absolutes is cause for concern.
Check these numbers with the engine running at idle, and rev up the engine and hold it at about 2500rpms and check it there. Like I said, you may see the STFT number change pretty quickly, so just use the average of the numbers you see for that one. If you have someone with you, you can have them check the numbers while you drive as well.
Practice this on a car you have access to beforehand.
13. Last and not least, don’t trust the person selling the car. Trust your eyes, your ears, and your instinct. You don’t know this person, they may be lying about the car, or try and tell you that the thing you’re worried about is no big deal, it’s just this or that. Or they had a guy check it out and it’s a really easy/quick fix. Be patient and find the right car. If something is fishy or doesn’t seem right, move on to the next car. A car is a pretty big expense. Most people budget for the purchase price of a car and don’t consider there may be considerable extra expense in fixing major problems. Minimize the possibility of those extra expenses by inspecting the car the best you can.
I would recommend running through these things, and any others you want to add, on your current car, your parents’ cars, friends’ cars, etc. Do it several times. Get comfortable in making these checks so that when you’re doing them in front of some stranger on their car, you won’t forget anything.

that time i went on a roadtrip. alone.
Tumblr media
so. i went through Some Stuff last year and other people cut their hair or whatever. I WENT ON A ROADTRIP through austria and italy. with no budget and no time limit. in my tiny mazda 2. on my own.
yeah this is not gonna be one of those “i found myself by traveling alone” stories. it´s really not.
so my total trip only lasted 4 days and honestly. kinda sucked and this is actually more of a reminder to myself TO NOT JUST BE LIKE THAT AGAIN OKAY YOU FOOL. STOP IT.
Day 1:  Dinosaurs and Bad Times
started in austria. where i live (hello if you new here or forgot)
stopped at the reptile zoo in happ. they had some nice reptiles there and some really funky dinosaurs. had a nice time chatting with the staff there
Tumblr media
drove on to lignano and found a camping place at like 4:30pm
decided to go to the back of the camping area with just a few people  and quickly learned DON`T DO THAT. the people back there were a large group/family and they didn´t like me and i was terrified. being queer, kinda short and all alone this shit is scary
i ate some instant ramen in my tent and visited the beach before trying my best to sleep
Tumblr media
Day 2: I guess my car is a bed?
i realized my Friendly Neighbors are still asleep and i decide this the time to go shower because i was too scared the night before
i had some tea for breakfast packed my shit and got the fuck out of there. i drove to the part of lignano we always went to when i was a kid and visited some old places. remembered some times. had some strong feels.
went shopping and than decided to just? drive? down the coast?
i really enjoyed the drive and i drove until i reached ravenna. inbetween i kinda stopped and thought i lost my carkeys. had a mental breakdown where i called my mom and she waited with me until i found it
arrived in ravenna but it was already 6pm and i was not feeling that much like going to a camping place. but i found a parking lot full of camping vans so HELL YES.
i park there and enjoy the beach a bit. than go find some pizza have a nice time. spent more time at the beach until it got dark
Tumblr media
time to sleep in my car. that was not comfortable. you have to sleep on the backseat with a mazda 2 (2012) but it was fine i felt much safer than the night before and it cost no moneys
still had a mental breakdown because i was really lonely and again. was working through some stuff to start with
Tumblr media
Day 3: Better Times. and a lake
i find one of those beach showers that some italian beaches have. they also have toillets. it´s nice.
i get in the car and start driving to the garda lake. i get lost on the way a bit in ferrara and had to be a tourist and annoy people living there but they were very nice and i managed.
arrive in lazise AND OH BOY
i find this tiny camping place that is part of a farm and the owner is so nice and gives me a lovely small space for my car and tent. the people there are so friendly. all the fellow campers are very nice.
i go to the lake i enjoy it, save a tiny crawfish people think i´m insane. have some nice ice cream.
my tent breaks.
Tumblr media
fall asleep to the sunset over the garda lake that I SAW FROM MY TENT HELLO. a tiny hedgehog woke me at night and just AAAAA. i could have stayed there for a few days. go to the zoo you know. a good time
Tumblr media
Day 4: Dead Tent Times
did i mention my cheap ass tent broke the day before and the rain woke me up
i throw everything into my car drive it up the meadow. pay and decide to leave because the weather app says it´s gonna rain for a few days
start driving back home and stop at the alpenzoo in innsbruck WHICH IS AN AMAZING ZOO. it was SO GOOD. they have a whole house of frogs
arrive at home.
Tumblr media
things we learned from me being a dumbass
don´t stay in a part of a camping area that is uncomfortable and makes you scared. i should have packed up and went to the area with more people
don´t pack only food that needs to be heated in some way and no insulated box for drinks. i had some real anxiety getting food sometimes and wish i had more options than instant noodles and really warm liquids
i didn´t do any research on what selfdefense things i could and should have packed.
BRING A THROWAWAY PHONE WITH A BATTERY THAT LASTS FOREVER
emergency tent.
check the weather before you start driving
going on a spontanous unprepared roadtrip will not solve any of your problems. they are still there when you come home buddy.
what i did. on a map:
Tumblr media
that being said i will probably do something dumb like that again next year. so KEEP FOLLOWING ME TO FIND OUT WHAT IT`S GONNA BE.

How to use Godiag GT108 Conversion Adapter?
1.Find the definition of the diagnostic interface
Find the maintenance manual of your own vehicle, or search online.), or see the definition diagram of the corresponding diagnostic interface of the GT108 manual.
2.According to the interface definition, find out the connection line needed by your car, and connect to the GT108 adapter according to the definition. (Use a screwdriver to lock the terminal.)
3.Connect the connected diagnostic cable to the vehicle OBD1 diagnostic interface according to the definition.
Connect GND 4 or GND5 first, and then connect BAT+.
If the power cable is connected correctly, the POW light of the GT108 host will light up.
If the vehicle diagnostic interface does not have power, please connect the car battery to the DC power connector of GT108 with the battery cable.
If the vehicle needs the ignition signal, connect the O-IGN line, and press the IGN switch, the corresponding IGN light will light up, and the O-IGN line will output the ignition power signal.
4.Connect the communication line CAN or K-line to the diagnostic interface.
Note: If it is the truck diagnostic software added by the car diagnostic equipment, you need to buy a GT106 24V to 12V adapter.
5.Connect the diagnostic device to start diagnosing the vehicle.
NOTE:
If you cannot find the definition for your own vehicle diagnostic interface, you can first find out the power supply of the diagnostic interface. First use the black battery clip on the battery connection cable to connect the negative pole of the battery, and then use the BAT+ line to connect to the diagnostic interface to find the power supply. You can also use a multimeter to find the diagnostic interface power supply. The definition of the diagnostic interface can also be judged by the GT101 PIRT Electric Circuit Tester device.

Microcars Market 2020 Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends And Forecast 2030
Microcars Market: Introduction
According to the report, the global Microcars market is projected to reach ~US$ 12.7 Bn by 2030, expanding at a CAGR of ~15% during the forecast period. Growing environmental concerns, increasing fuel prices, and traffic congestion globally have laid emphasis on improving transportation facilities. Thus, vehicle manufacturers are focusing on the development of comfortable, affordable, and fuel-efficient small vehicles. This is likely to boost the microcars market during the forecast period.
Rapid increase in vehicle penetration in developing countries and rise in investment in research & development activities are key factors that are estimated to drive the global microcars market during the forecast period. The microcars market is likely to perform well soon due to the rise in the demand for hybrid cars in Asia Pacific, owing to their affordability as well as low maintenance, along with the decrease in the micro electric vehicle’s battery cost, which is likely to propel microcars market in Asia Pacific.
Rise in government initiatives for the development of microcars as well as vehicle manufacturers are integrating advance technology, including advance drive assist (ADAS) and connected vehicle, which is likely to enhance the microcars market across the globe. Moreover, in the U.K., the government offers several tax benefits to people who use microcars. Increase in smart car culture among the young population, rise in export opportunities for microcar manufacturers, and a surge in disposable income are anticipated to boost the microcars market across the globe.

Expansion of Microcars Market
The surge in trade volume, owing to rising bilateral trade among countries is projected to boost the microcars market during the forecast period. China witnessed a surge in both general trade volume and proportion, rising to 15.66 trillion Yuan. China trade volume accounted for 56.4% of total foreign trade. Major trading partners of China are the U.S., the European Union, and ASEAN. Exports of China to the U.S. further rose by 15.2% year-on-year. Based on drive, the global microcars market has been segmented into 2WD/1WD and AWD. AWD is likely to be highly lucrative segment during the forecast period. This is primarily due to the rise in use of sports utility vehicles and increased need for stability and control of vehicle. Legislation regarding AWD in vehicles across developed countries, including the U.S., China, and Japan, is likely to boost the microcars market. In terms of fuel type, the electric segment dominated the market, as an increase in the demand for electric vehicles due to enactment of emission regulations is driving the demand for microcars. Moreover, major vehicle manufacturers are likely to shut down the production of diesel engines due to the enactment of stringent rules and regulation regarding emission, which is estimated to boost the demand for electric microcars. This, in turn, is anticipated to boost the microcars market across the globe.
Regional Analysis of Microcars Market
In terms of region, the global microcars market has been segregated into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, and Latin America. Asia Pacific dominated the global microcars market in 2019. It is anticipated to hold a leading share during the forecast period due to the rise in sales and production of vehicles in China and ASEAN. Thus, rise in demand for electric vehicles across the Asia Pacific is anticipated to further boost the microcars market in the region. Prominent players operating in the global microcars market include BMW AG., Mazda Motor Corporation, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. , Daimler AG, Group PSA., Honda Motor Company, LIGIER Group., Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Toyota Motor Corporation, Groupe Renault SA, Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd., Piaggio & C. Spa, Subaru, and Suzuki Motor Corporation.

Review: The Kia XCeed
Some days, during lockdown, I imagine a time when I would sit at my work desk and fly through the days ‘To Do’ list. On the day I’m imagining, the sun is bright, glinting off the new cars. The staff are laughing with the steady stream of customers, the scent of fresh coffee wafts on the breeze, and there is the regular jingle of keys as they pass from hands of the service department to their awaiting owners.
Something catches my attention in the periphery of my vision; a customer pushes through the tall glass doors of Leslies Motors. They have walked straight past the pre-owned vehicles on the forecourt, so I can safely assume they’re after something new. They haven’t walked directly to one model, instead they browse the variety that the brand has to offer.
One of my colleagues walks up to the customer, offers his hand, and after a succinct and professional introduction asks a question that gets straight to the heart of the matter; “So, what are you looking for in a new car?”
Invariably the response is; “well, I’m not sure. But, I want something higher up”. And there it is - I’m waiting to have ‘showroom bingo’ cards made with this response printed on.
I’m not making sense, am I? What am I talking about?
“SUV” is apparently a dirty word. This imaginary customer wants to buy into the UK & Europe’s new love of Crossovers, and they don’t want to admit it.
The moment you point at the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Kona, Toyota Rav4, Honda CRV, Mazda CX-5, or any of the numerous SUV’s now available, the customer says, “ah yes, that’s just what I’m looking for!”
Europe loves SUV’s. It’s not a bad thing. They are comfortable, practical, well built, and generally loaded with the latest features. And Kia’s newest offering is just that, and a whole lot more.
Allow me to introduce, the Kia XCeed.
Looks: The name Kia Ceed may seem familiar. Years ago Top Gear used the Kia Ceed as the “Star In The Reasonably Priced Car” feature. There, the penny’s dropped hasn’t it? It was an entirely different car back then, the new Kia Ceed was launched in 2018, and has quickly become a favourite amongst critics looking for an alternative to the VW Golf or the Ford Focus.
Since then, Kia have made an Estate [Kia Ceed Sportswagon], a sporty Shooting Brake [Kia ProCeed], and most recently a Crossover SUV [Kia XCeed].
The XCeed is longer than the Hatchback it is based on, and sits at a higher ride height. It features rugged SUV-style protection, roof rails, and a front bumper similar to its SUV kin; the Kia Stonic & Sportage.
Interior: The XCeed, and it’s Ceed based brethren, all received Kia’s new 10.25” touchscreen display.  When you sit inside, it feels like the cabin has been based around this connectivity suite. It’s not just a feature, it’s a highlight.
The software has been a Kia strength for a long time. The displays are instinctively user friendly, and this new screen has taken that a step further. It features Android Auto & Applce CarPlay as standard, and can be splitscreen - to show the Satellite Navigation, DAB Radio, and Apps at the same time - or widescreen, to show a huge Sat-Nav or Reversing Camera.
The ‘3’ receives a semi-leather interior with Heated Seats, and the ‘First Edition’ launch special adds a full leather interior with Heated & Ventilated Seats. As well as a Sliding Panoramic-Glass Roof, making the elegant interior appear larger than it appears.
Engines: The XCeed uses the most popular turbo-charged Kia engines. A growling 1.0T with more than adequate pace, and a smooth four-cylinder 1.4T. But, what’s exciting about the new XCeed is that it’s be the first Kia to get the new Plug-In Hybrid drive train, since the electric-specific Kia Niro. Kia claims the new XCeed PHEV offers an almost unbelievable 202 miles per gallon (WLTP).
This 1.6 Petrol engine is paired to a battery with roughly 40-mile range. That may not sound a lot, but I’ve been using a Plug-In Hybrid recently, and hear me out; in reality I only need to charge once or twice a week, often while I’m sat at work. During the week I won’t use a drop of fuel, as I’m running entirely on electric power. Then, at the weekend if take a longer journey, it drives like a regular Hybrid, and can be topped up with petrol on the go – no need to wait hours for a charging station. It’s the best of both worlds.
The six-speed DCT gearbox is supremely smooth, and in electric mode the XCeed is practically silent. This has taken Kia’s already good car to new levels. The PHEV version offers a refinement that premium models wish they could offer in this price category.
The Competition: When it comes to Crossovers and SUV’s on the market, you are spoiled for choice. But how many offer a Plug-In Hybrid option?
In looks you may compare it to the new Audi Q3 Sportback, with its sleek rear end. But this isn’t hybrid, not even close. The Q3’s bigger brother, the Q5, is. However, at £50,000 plus change, vs Kia’s £30,000, customers are unlikely to be comparing these two.
BMW has a smaller and more affordable option; the X1 PHEV. At £38,200 the BMW is rouhgly in the same ballpark, but when comparing features of the X1 PHEV ‘Sport’ leaves a lot to the imagination compared to the Kia’s top-of-the-range ‘First Edition’. The XCeed features a Sliding Glass Panoramic Roof, Power Boot Hatch, Full Leather interior with Heath & Ventilated Seats, and a futuristic 12” digital dashboard. So, it’s the driver’s choice; for the excitement you’ll pick the BMW’s XDrive25e engine, but if you’re leaning towards family value, with features often only found in premium brand’s, you’ll pick the Kia.
The real battle will once again be between Kia and Ford. The new Kuga offers a PHEV which is competitively priced and offers plenty of kit. The blue oval will test Kia’s value, but not it’s comprehensive seven-year warranty. The Ford is larger, and what you gain in size, you lose on interior design. But that is subjective, and to some the Ford’s utilitarian interior may appeal.
The other choice? Kia. Walk into a Kia dealership and you currently have a choice between two Plug-In Hybrid Crossover SUV’s. The same engine, motor, battery pack, seven-year warranty, and features, are all available in the previous mentioned Kia Niro PHEV, and for a similar price.
Business User:
The XCeed is destined to be hot property with Business Users. It’s satisfyingly snug on longer journeys, has space for all the family, and sits as comfortably in the corners as it’s hatchback brother.
The PHEV is going to be the Business Users first choice. While the initial price maybe more, you’ll end up paying less in company car tax thanks to the low BIK (read: low emissions). So, you’ll have better fuel economy, a longer range, a smooth electric drive, and less to pay each month from your wages. It will mean a small change in lifestyle, for a big financial gain.
Chances are you’ll choose to lease, and run as an asset off balance sheet, or finance on Kia’s new 0% PCP*.
Island User:
The Garden Isle is an apt name for our green and pleasant land. The ferry port cities across the water suffer with some of the most polluted air in the country, but thanks to the Solent we’re not party to it. The Kia XCeed as a Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle ensures that Island families can still go out into the great outdoors with their bikes, scooters, and surf boards, and rest safe in the knowledge that the emissions are significantly less that what they had been previously driving.
The additional boot space and roof rails of the Kia XCeed add practical features to and already beloved hatchback. It comes standard with the latest Kia safety features, including ‘Lane Keep Assist’, Driver Attention Warnings, Forward Collision Avoidence, Hill-Start Assitance, as well as the usual ABS, Tyre Pressure Monitor, and Intelligent Cruise Control.
Compared to other Hybrid rivals, the Kia XCeed makes a real case for itself thanks to its features, value, and the reassurance of Kia’s industry leading seven-year warranty.
Choices:
The Value Choice: Kia XCeed ‘2’ 1.0T Manual
The Range Topper: Kia XCeed ‘First Edition’ 1.6 PHEV Automatic
Leslies Motors Favourite: Kia XCeed ‘3’ 1.6 PHEV Automatic
Verdict:
The design is going to polarise people. Either you love the looks of the XCeed or you don’t.
When I had two XCeed ‘3’ in white sat on the forecourt waiting to be collected by their new owners, I had the whole service team begging me to organise an offer for them.
For most buyers, the 1.0T is going to be ideal on the Island. The 1.4T offers a little more refinement on longer journeys. But for business users, or those wishing for a serenely smooth electric ride, the PHEV is going to be first pick. Thanks to its low emissions and tax benefits. The interior is going to offer a wow-factor to your passengers, not often seen in this price range and you’ll be back by Kia’s legendary warranty, and the offer of 0% finance*.
The only tough question, is how to place your order while we’re all locked in.
*Offer advertised to end: 30th June.

Let’s Rebuild an Engine
Has your engine experienced major engine damage? Maybe it isn’t running like it once did. You then have a decision to make. Will you replace or rebuild your engine? Rebuilding an engine is a much cheaper way to get your vehicle running like brand new. This is not an easy task though. This requires removing the engine entirely from the vehicle so that you can take it apart. This is not a job for someone with minimal car experience.
I had my first lesson with engine rebuilding when I was about 17. My Geo Metro needed to be rebuilt and me and my dad went to work on it. This was much simpler than most engine rebuilds as the car was tiny. It was a 3-cylinder 1.0L engine. The engine itself was not that heavy and it was a very simple design. This was a great way for me to learn all about engines and how to take them apart and put them back together.
I recently had the opportunity to help my dad rebuild the engine on his Mazda B2000. Although this was still an older vehicle with a fairly simple design, this one was much more difficult. We were able to get it running like brand new again.
youtube
Engine Removal
Before you can start the actual engine rebuilding process, you have to get the engine out of your car. This is no small task. Make sure that you have the proper tools before hand and have a plan of attack. When you have all that you need and have done the necessary research, it is time to begin.
To start out, you are going to want to drain fluids. You will need to take the oil and the coolant out of the vehicle or else you will have a huge mess on your hands. Once the fluids have drained, you can begin detaching things from the engine.
You will want to remove the radiator. Make sure that the coolant is drained, and you can disconnect the hoses running to it and pull it out. From there you can disconnect the battery and starter. Once the battery is disconnected, start taking off all of the harnesses and connectors.
You will need to take off several large components such as the exhaust manifold, the starter, and the ac compressor. You can take off any belts as well. The last major part that will have to be removed is the transmission. This will require a transmission jack to support the transmission. Lastly unbolt the engine from the motor mounts and hoist the engine out.
Engine Disassembly
Once the engine has been taken out, you can start disassembling it. You can take off any unnecessary accessories such as the water pump, alternator, distributor, etc. Now start digging into the heart of the engine. You can take off the oil pan, timing cover, valve cover, and flywheel. You can then start to take out the rocker arms and pushrods. While you are removing engine parts, it is a good practice to inspect them. If you see that a part is broken or worn, make a note to have it replaced.
Next take the cylinder head off. You will now have access to the timing chain and camshaft.  You can take both of these off and inspect them for damage. You have now dug as far as you need to into the engine. You can see the cylinders, valves, etc. Now is your time to start rebuilding.
Let’s Start Rebuilding the Engine
Now is an excellent time to inspect the crankshaft. If the crankshaft has any damage at all, you will want to have it repaired or replaced. The first step of your engine rebuild then becomes cleaning everything. This will help you to inspect them but also help increase engine life. You will want to make sure you remove any old gasket material that might be on any component. From there you can wash parts with water and detergent. You will want to clean the entire engine block and make sure that it is ready for reassembly.
After cleaning the cylinder walls, you have an excellent opportunity to inspect them. If you notice any scratches or anything, you will want to have them machined and fixed. It is then common to change out all of the freeze plugs. Next you can install all new piston rings and camshaft bearings. Replace any parts that were damaged or worn.
Put the Engine Back Together
Now hopefully you paid attention to how everything went together. This is where you will see how well your planning worked out. Do you remember which bolts go to what? What about where every hose and harness goes? If not, you might be in for a real struggle. Start by working backwards from what you did. When you reinstall the timing components, make sure that carefully follow the instructions in your service manual. If the timing is off in your engine, your whole rebuild could be wasted.
Once you have pieced the whole engine back together, you are ready to put it back into your vehicle. Once in, reconnect everything to it and fill it back up with oil and coolant. Now it’s time for the moment of truth. To test your engine. Start it up and see how good of a job you did. If done right, your car will run like new.
Official Engine Rebuild Expert
You are now an engine rebuilding expert. Rebuilding is very popular as it is much cheaper than buying a new engine. Do not forget that this is not a small task though. It can be done, but it requires the proper tools and knowledge. You will also need plenty of time to do this. Check out his video of time lapse of an engine rebuild.
You can clearly see that this is a long and intensive job. If you approach this task wisely, there is no need to be afraid of it. If you are in and around the south bay area in California and you need the best engine rebuilding mechanics, see A-1 Auto Tech, Inc.
