I love everything that's been found out in the Pokemon Teraleak thus far, combined with prior expanded knowledge of the series from the Capumon docs and GSC Spaceworld leaks, but good lord the fanbase's usual lack of media literacy and penchant for misinformation + general unprofessionalism along with countless employees being doxxed just about sours it completely :(

i didn't initially care that much about miho until the capumon episode? i ended up really connecting with her whole situation, getting caught up in a bad spot because you're a little socially naive and can't spot serious red flags without help, and after the beauty pageant episode solidified that yami(and thus yugi) very much sees her as a friend i took some genuine interest in her beyond the relatability. on a much later rewatch i ended up really liking her loud and certain personality, especially next to anzu's much more down-to-earth attitude.

this is not to say you HAVE to like her, i fully understand why she can be annoying or boring, i just thought i'd offer my thoughts as a miho lover. As early as episode 2 Miho shows herself to be more than just a shallow ditz; she's the first in the group to decide to actually see what Anzu's up to, fully convinced that she's going to have to fight off gross old guys to protect her friend. that alone makes me like her a LOT more(i was too young to really understand what they were talking about the first time i watched it), it's common for anime with multiple female mainstays to make them bitch at eachother but Miho immediately shows solidarity and protectiveness for her fellow gal. I also like how miho's... dumb but not? when paying attention a viewer can quickly deduce when she's actively being cute and helpless on purpose to get boys to do things for her, v.s. when she's Actually dumb and needs help. it's an interesting aspect to her character that she isn't just one or the other, and i also like seeing the things she does try to understand. and, in full honesty, as a materialistic bitch myself i love her being so openly and unapologetically in love with Stuff. and i love that her friends don't really make fun of her for that aspect of her personality!! they more make fun of honda for trying to meet her dreams. Which brings me to that part: as a DM fan who still hasn't touched the manga as much as i should, tristan never made that strong of an impression. i love him, he's definitely a necessary part of the team, but there's not much focus on it. but Miho gives a great outlet for one of my favorite traits: his willingness to go above and beyond for someone he cares about, and put himself through ridiculous lengths to meet someone's expectation if he feels it's worth it. we also see it in his relationship with jounouchi, but i think it's really sweet seeing him get all flustered and headstrong trying to impress this girl he likes, and his good faith towards his friends blinds him to how she's definitely using him a lot of the time. which, bringing that right around, i really like what they did with miho getting a crush on bakura; suddenly SHE'S the one on the short end, with the added bonus that ryou barely even notices she exists. i think if things had gone on longer, they could have done some really cool character development with that. long story short, miho's a loud, materialistic, manipulative girlie who follows her rage when someone's genuinely pissed her off and doesn't always entirely know what's going on. and while i totally understand that being unappealing, i love that kind of character when it's not the ONLY girl in the group. it's relatable in a very core way, as someone who loves to collect shiny things and has anger as a base emotion. and to me, Miho will always be the girl who found out her penpal/stalker had hurt her friends and immediately marched her ass down there to give him a piece of her mind, and the girl who thought her friend was in a creepy situation and decided to intervene, and the girl who blessed us with The Watch Episode. i hope this offers some understanding! again, i totally get not liking her, and i don't expect this post to convert you or anything. i just think it's nice if people can understand eachother :>

Capumon episode on s0 is great at telling us that one. Yugi makes friends with anyone as long as they share the most minimal interest in games 2. He IS a pushover but also his sense of justice is strong enough to either half ass/self sabotage whenever he's being put into situations he does nooottt wanna be in. I like when he's being put into situations

Part two of my Yugioh 10 years after DSOD AU (first part here!), this time we have Rebecca, Mokuba and Mai!

Here's some information and random thoughts about them:

Mai Kujaku / Mai Valentine:

She continued to duel professionally for a few years, but has taken a little break now. She's doing pretty well though, not only did she win quite a few DM tournaments, but she now gets invited to participate in autograph sessions and to take her deck on tour!

Now she's also a lot closer to Yugi and company, since she can live closer to then. She can often be seen going out with Jou and Yugi while talking about whatever hapened recently on their weeks.

Hasn't been having the greatest luck in love though. I imagine Jean-Claude Magnum would come back to annoy her at some point and get rejected again, and she has dated some other duelist friends of hers (i can imagine her and Vivian Wong having a thing at some point) but not anything that worked out for too long. She isn't very sad about that though, she's just happy to have friends that she feels like she can trust!

Mokuba Kaiba:

Taking some influence from Princess Adena from DM and also coming out as nonbinary someday! (Or X-Gender, since they live in Japan)

They had to stay some years pretty much acting as CEO of Kaibacorp, which wasn't the hardest thing they ever had to do, but was still quite stressful and time consuming. After Seto came back from the afterlife, they had a family reunion with a lot of screams, crying and hugs.

After that, Seto went back to become CEO after a few weeks, and Mokuba... decided to relax a bit. They realized that they can finally do whatever they wants since they're rich, so now they has kinda become a influencer of sorts.

So now, Mokuba makes some vlog-like videos for the internet talking about everyday life, and also plays some games on not-twitch and not-youtube, usually stuff like Capumon but also other stuff that Kaibacorp is releasing.

Rebecca Hawkins/Hopkins:

She stopped going into Duel Monsters Tournaments and other things like that after a while to focus on her studies, finally graduating at college at 15/16 years old! Now, she works as a freelancer in a lot of different tech companies, Kaibacorp included.

She isn't ultra close with Yugi's friends but she still goes out with them sometimes (and threatens to put a bunch or viruses if anyone reminds her of how obsessed she was with Yugi at one point).

She is now pretty close with some of the people around her own age, like Mokuba, Leon, etc. They play some online Duel Monsters games together, and she helps them to study for college (well, she fights with Mokuba for them to go study actually).

Why I like them/why I don’t

Okay so controversial perhaps opinion but I actually like that she uses her "ditzy" behavior to get things out of Honda. There's just enough plausible deniability of whether or not it's intentional or if she is just like that. I think we should support women's wrongs. I also really enjoy that she develops alongside the rest of the cast for being mainly an anime only character (of course she was in the manga bur only for a chapter and with a drastically different characterization.) She's mainly often comic relief but there's moments where she gets to have her serious scenes that really shine.

What I like about their appearance

I really love her ponytail a lot. Due to the fact that she is both early manga Takahashi designed and mainly featured in the Toei yugioh style, she's very a-typical to the general Takahashi-like early Gallop era style and latter Gallop era style. I'm also a big fan of purple hair.

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?

no dub of Shadow Games!!! Honestly had they ever dubbed the series I could imagine they'd like, name her Mia or something along those lines.

Not so much an OTP bc I'm not really a serious shipper (listen often my shipping is just a bit, there's very few times I'm a legit shipper) but I do enjoy the dynamic between her and Honda. It makes for some really funny stuff and potential situation ideas. A mild Beating Him With Hammers (Affectionate) kind of situation if you get me. Aside from that, I think that Miho and Anzu would make a very lovely couple and they do have a really good dynamic. The girls gotta stick together.

Favourite moment they were in

OKAY I KNOW THIS TECHNICALLY TAKES AWAY FROM THE MANGA'S WAY OF INTROUCING AND CONNECTING MOKUBA TO YUGI BY GIVING MIHO THE CAPUMON PLOT But listen, listen. She has such a cool moment standing up for herself and Yugi. She does genuinely care about her friends and is not willing to put up with bullshit!!! Also I really liked that she took up kind of a genuine interest in the game at the end (wish it kind of stuck instead of it just being a little silly way to end the episode tho)

Least favourite moment

Ehh just kind of the general like, issues with Shadow Games in general with it's entrenched misogyny (Takahashi not normal about women moment. God.) I'm also a lot more mixed with her role in Death T in how it kind of de-fangs some of Jonouchi's overall characterization (but that's not an issue with her specifically it's something long stretching in both Shadow Games and even more-so Duel Monsters OURTGH) But honestly I will take it because she gets some funny moments and I don't have to see The Baby.

Kaiba Brothers Lost at Sea? - Duelist Digest

Thousands of fans have congregated around Kaiba Corp’s main headquarters in anticipation for the Kaiba Brothers’ return from America. Most of them in particular are here in anticipation for Mokuba’s birthday celebrations this Friday on July 7th. 

Kaiba Corporation’s liaison had reported difficulties in reaching the jet earlier this morning, though this is attributed to a nearby storm system affecting the Pacific Ocean. KaibaCorp still anticipate both their CEO and vice-president’s arrival later tonight.  

Update: As of midnight 7/7/2023, there still has been no word of the Kaibas arriving.

Many have expressed concern for the brothers’ safety and are requesting the police to investigate for foul play, given KaibaCorp’s tumultuous history involving the control of the company. 

We at Duelist Digest hope for the best.

Kaiba Brothers Missing: Tokyo Times

There has still been no sign of the Kaiba brothers as of July 8th 2023. Japan, America, and South Korea have all dispatched teams for a search and rescue in the Pacific Ocean. 

KaibaCorp reports that the jet the Kaiba Brothers are on is equipped with a lifeboat and floatation system in case of emergencies and that there were no distress signals sent prior to loss of contact. The current theory is electronic equipment failure. 

Other conflicting theories are also in play.

One of them casts doubt on Seto Kaiba’s ability to fly a jet, especially one that is believed to be experimental. 

Another theory is that boaters in the area report seeing a streak of light in the sky - and it is believed that it was the Blue Eyes Jet heading on a course that wasn’t towards Japan. Combined with that theory, local militant groups in the surrounding area have given a statement that they shot down the Jet with a surface-to-air missile.  

As of right now though, no wreckage or debris has been found. 

The Tokyo Times will keep Japan appraised during these tumultuous times.

On KaibaCorp Stocks : Forbes Japan

KaibaCorp closed at 19,000 yen from 18,000 yen today on 7/7/2023, a little over a 5% increase. This is surprising news given that most speculators were expecting the stock to tank after the CEO and vice-president’s mysterious disappearance over the Pacific Ocean. 

It is still unclear why KaibaCorp remains on the uptrend. The majority shareholder and CEO Seto Kaiba is known as the driving force of the R&D department, having developed both the hologram tech for the Duel Arenas and the more recently revealed Duel Disks. The vice-president Mokuba Kaiba meanwhile is known for handling the more everyday affairs of the company including its public relations and has popularity rivaling his brother’s in the Capumon and streaming communities. Losing either of them would result in severe instability in the company, much less losing both of them. 

Will KaibaCorp continue to remain on the rise? Many say no.

Kaiba going reportedly comatose after Death-T? The 2nd-generation duel arenas.

Kaiba and his brother allegedly getting kidnapped during Duelist Kingdom? The prototype Duel Disk - which eventually became today’s Duel Disk - hologram technology with a flick of your wrist.

All you short sellers betting against Kaiba are going to really suffer for it. 

As for me, I bought quite a bit of stock, and I’m sure I’ll be laughing all the way to the bank. Don’t be stupid, go buy more KaibaCorp stock. Or at the very least don’t sell what you have. That’s my advice.
