HE SUPPOSED HE SHOULD have figured this day would come. Hauled back into the hellhole he’d escaped from. Face bruised and bloodied, arms bound behind his back and planted on his knees like a dog. Eyes full of disdain, the copper tang still fresh in his mouth and his head still aching from the barrel of the gun that had been pushed painfully into it. A simple of announcement of his arrival, the gleeful tones of those who’d managed to bring him to his knees. They were almost excited. He’d managed to evade capture from everyone -- Turk and Soldier alike. But they’d overwhelmed him eventually, boxed him in from all sides. Leaving absolutely no room for him to run again.

Face to face with the blonde who presided over the company, despite him being on his knees, despite him having next to no strength left, Reno refused to look away. His last ounce of stubborn pride forcing him to keep his eyes focused and not look away. Not allowing himself to be intimidated. What was the worst they could do? Kill him? Hell, he probably deserved it for everything he’d done in their name. Despite never once believing in them, despite never being on their side. The information he’d gleaned had been more than enough to put Shinra under stress. They’d find it harder moving forward and that made Reno almost giddy with glee.
