little personal anecdote again, about the golden glove and fritz honka. i just wanna yap about this a bit even if it has little to do with the actual technicalities of the true criminal case:
excuse any errors, i'm not proofreading this
Tumblr media
the first time i visited st. pauli i, as a lot of people do, visited a bunch of locally infamous clubs, sex shops and bars. my friends and i went to an irish pub and then had one or two beers at die ritze which is one of those locally infamous clubs with a bunch of regulars from st. pauli. it smelled like tobacco and the lady behind the bar was doing about 6 shots between serving our first and second beer, everyone inside but us were locals, mostly men in their 40s to 60s who spoke hamburg dialect.
we continued bar hopping and before going back to our hotel we stopped in front of the golden glove (as seen in the picture above). there was a few men in front of the bar smoking cigarettes. we stopped for a second and my friend asked me if i wanted to take a picture of me in front of it. i was very familiar with the fritz honka case and had been kind of morbidly excited to see that place in person. but it feels completely different when you're actually standing in front of it, and there's the regulars just spending their evening there. most of them weren't there in the 70s, when the whole honka thing played out, but there's still this underlying feeling that you don't want to disturb them. because ultimately i was just there for voyeurism. "oh this is the place where that alcoholic who strangled all those women was staying day and night" it didn't feel right to walk in there as someone who's not from st. pauli and just treat it like a circus act, like entertainment. there's people in there who struggle with alcoholism, it's an own realm and you don't want to interfere with that, that's misery tourism.
my friend didn't really understand when i said i didn't wanna take a picture, he asked "are you sure? you wanted to see it so badly" and i said no and we walked back to our hotel.
i really came to understand what it was that heinz strunk, the author of the novel based on fritz honka and all those characters, was describing. because it's not fun, it's not entertaining and it's definitely not exciting. it's unapologetic and it's miserable and claustrophobically depressing and filthy. it's something that is often described as a certain "milieu" that drove honka to the point where he ended up being. and when i was there it definitely wasn't the same it was back in the 70s but it's easier to see, to imagine.
i don't really know what note to end this on, just a little personal yapping session again. i guess, watch the movie, read the novel if you can, it's an experience :)

do you think school shootings have become essentially performance art
performative? yes. they’ve always been to an extent, i guess. nowadays they’re used for self-portrayal a lot, kids like colt, samantha or solomon don’t really seem to have an agenda, not even that kind of “I’m gonna show those bullies and popular kids” mindset eric and dylan had, they’re just unwell and frustrated, hoping to gain infamy through murder-suicide. i definitely know what you mean, even though most copy cats really took the “art” out of “performance art”

my veteran great grandfather had a prosthetic glass eye and a visible hole in the middle of his forehead because during ww2 a bullet went in through his forehead and out through his cheek, injuring his right eye. sadly i don’t have any interesting stories to tell from him because by the time i was interested in ww2 he was already too old to even remember my name, he just called me “Liebchen” all the time

Robyn was fat u forgetting it was the 90s of course Dylan did not wanted a fat girl with receding jawline
dylan wasn't exactly conventionally attractive either ngl ig he didn't wanna settle for her anyway, that's true
ig based on his journal, he idealized a girl until he didn't like the idea of her anymore and then got depressed and resented her

What did you think about the nihilism and existentialism displayed in the alleged manifesto of Samantha Rupnow?
i think she's a 15 y/o girl. i guess it's nihilism and existentialism on the most mundane surface level. it kind of reminds me of a lot of 2010s elfists, they don't really know what they're talking about due to mental immaturity, lack of life experience or whatever. and i wasn't different at 15, i didn't know shit about kierkegaard or nietzsche tbf even though i liked to pretend to follow those concepts and ideologies.
edit: thanks for the question!

You don't watch porn at all or anything like that? I find this interesting
i think i haven’t watched porn at all in like 7 years, even before i got conscious about why porn is harmful. i just don’t get the urge to. my life is currently lacking any form of sexuality lol

i have never seen any of that on here ever, i‘m repulsed by sex and click ‚not interested‘ on any remotely sexual image lmao
