You see Mace Windu is a bad mother (Shut your mouth) But I'm talkin' about Mace (Then we can dig it) He's a complicated Jedi but no one understands him but Yoda (Mace Windu) It's really hard to talk about black history, pop culture, and Sci-Fi without talking about Sam (Frick'n) Jackson. If memory serves that Mace Windu is only other real significant black character, besides Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars Universe until Finn's arrival in The Force Awakens. I do have to make footnotes for Captain Panaka (Phantom Menace) and Gregar Typho (Attack of the Clones), but it really seemed like their roles were merely for exposition and to move the plot along. Master Windu served on the Jedi High Council, a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic, and dispatched Jango Fett at the Battle of Geonosis. During the events of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, we discovered Captain Panaka, the security captain Queen Amidala’s forces. After the events of the film, Panaka was never seen again in the following films which left fans wondering what actually happened to him. Well, I have found the answers.

“Your Highness, this is a battle I do not think that we can win.“―Quarsh Panaka, to Queen Padmé Amidala during the Battle of Naboo.

Quarsh Panaka was a native of the planet Naboo. He was a security forces captain who served the Royal House of Naboo during the final years of the Galactic Republic. When the Trade Federation invaded Naboo during the events of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Panaka fled the planet, alongside Queen Padmé Amidala to Tatooine and then Coruscant before ultimately returning to Naboo in order to liberate their homeworld from under the siege of Nute Gunray and his separatist army.

Panaka remained in Amidala’s service. When her two terms were over, Amidala became senator of Naboo, and Panaka stepped down from his functions as her personal bodyguard, making way for his nephew Gregar Typho. He did, however, continue his services as head of Security under Queen Jamillia. During the Clone Wars, a three-year conflict that pitted the Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Panaka met Viceroy Bail Organa of Alderaan several times

“Panaka’s loyalty to Palpatine was great. Still, he was as good a man as anyone in the Emperor’s inner circle could ever be, and much better than most. Panaka was… an option I wish had been left open to us.“―Breha Organa

Immediately after the Clone Wars, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine abolished the Republic and replaced it with the Galactic Empire, a government solely controlled by himself. Panaka remained loyal to the newly anointed Emperor and was made the Moff, or governor, of his native Chommell sector.

In 3 BBY, Panaka met with both Queen Dolne of Naboo and Princess Leia or Alderaan. As the meeting progressed, Panaka became to suspect that Leia was, in fact, the long-lost daughter of Padme Amidala who he formerly served. It was intended that he was going to inform the emperor of his findings, but a bomb exploded in his chalet, destroying the building and subsequently killing him in the process. It was discovered that the bomb was planted by the infamous Saw Gerrera and his Partisans.
