A Curious Bird

Summary: Best friends, Rylen and Cullen, are on their way to attend the house-warming of their old Kirkwall University chums, Carver and Anders.

Rylen has braced himself to endure an evening with Anders’ snobby, pseudo-intellectual friends, looking forward merely to catching up with Carver and Bethany.

Little does he suspect, that he’s about to have a fateful encounter that will change the course of his life.

Preview: Rylen pushed himself up the last flight of stairs, his legs beginning to burn from the effort of racing up to the sixth floor of his apartment building. He slumped against the wall as he finally reached the landing, holding his side as he gasped in air. He could feel age creeping up on him; in his knees, in his back — too much time now spent behind a desk.

Once he had caught his breath, he peeled himself from the wall with a groan and jogged down the plush carpeted hall toward his and Cullen’s apartment. He fished a spare key from the small zippered pocket on the front of his hoodie, and the moment he unlocked the door, Cullen was upon him — flustered and frantic.

“Where have you been?” Cullen exclaimed. “Did you forget about the house-warming?”

“Course not,” Rylen scoffed as he eased out of his runners. He tugged at the front of his hoodie, feeling unbearably sticky and hot now in the warmth of the apartment. “Figured I had time for a wee run before we left.”

“I tried to call you.” Cullen followed him from the front entry, hounding him as Rylen made for the bathroom.

“Och… I left my phone,” Rylen replied sheepishly. Cullen made a strangled sound of exasperation. “Give us ten minutes to shower?”

“Ten minutes,” Cullen exhorted, emphasising the point with a stern flick of his finger. Rylen nodded in assurance as he closed the door to the bathroom, doing his utmost to not look amused.

Once safely alone, he chortled quietly to himself as he peeled off his sweat soaked clothes and tossed them into the hamper. Despite their long standing friendship, the appropriate time to arrive at a party would remain always a point of contention. Directly at the appointed time, was ten minutes too late for Cullen, but too unreasonably early as far as Rylen was concerned. No-one in Starkhaven ever arrived on time to a gathering.

He quickly hopped into the shower, not waiting for the water to warm and he shivered violently as he ducked under the stream. The water slowly warmed and filled the room with steam, the heat and pressure of the spray a wonderful tonic for his aching muscles. He resisted the urge to linger however, and gave himself a perfunctory wash; letting the shampoo he rinsed from his hair, the foamy bubbles slowly gliding down over his body, do the lion’s share of cleaning.

My meeting Chris Evans

Now i know how alot of you feel about Chris right now but this is my experience meeting him.

It was an amazing time at New York Comic con and i would like to share my experience in Meeting Captian America himself Chris Evans

I walked around to kill some time before my photo op and saw all the different vendors and exhibits i was blown away, I went to a comic con about 4 years ago it was called wizward world but it was nothing like NYCC.

I looked at my watch and saw i still had two hours to kill until my Photo Op with Chris Evans so I looked for the place where it would take place once i found it the hubby and i just sat on the floor and killed time playing games. 

And than it was time for the photo op and when i tell you my nerves were running ramped i may have started out on level 2 but by the time i got up their i was on Level 1,000,000. Now i’ve met celbs before. 

I’ve met Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift and steven Amell but this this was different, This was chris evans, my hollywood crush since his days as Johnny Storm, and i never thought i would ever meet him let alone talk to him. But here we are. 

The pic line moved fast and when it came time for me i was mesmerized, i was about to meet Chris Evans Captain America himself, when it was my turn in line he finished up with the person before me, turned looked at me and smiled and said I love that dress and look we match we have on the same color, I almost forgot to speak, my brain was screaming to speak and when i did i asked if it was ok to have a hugging pic. 

He said OH my god yes come on babe bring it in, and yes he called me babe which kinda shocked me, he put his arms around me and pulled me close to him, when the pic was done i didn’t wanna let go. But I did , he thanked me and I said thank you back and headed out to get my picture. 

I didn’t even feel like I was walking, I felt like I was floating. Now I had to wait for my autograph session. 

A couple hours later and it was time for the autograph session, what i had signed was the new GQ mag with him on the cover, since the photo live moved fast this line wasn’t as fast, when i got up to the table he said there she, there's the pretty lady and her beautiful dress. He asked where he should sign the cover and I said across that amazing chest, he literally blushed. 

I said thank to him for getting me through a really tough time in my life, i told him about the time i had to spend in the hospital last year and how my anxiety level was so high it was scary but watching his movies or interviews calmed me down. He grabbed my hand and just held it, he said thank you for being sweet, he signed the mag and i said again thank you and handed him the bracelet i made him and smiled so big. He handed me back the mag, grabbed my hand again and we said goodbye. 

Ladies let me tell you he is the sweetest most down to earth man i have ever met. 

So in closing my time at new york comic con was. AMAZING, and i would do it again.

I was certain for a moment that Drayden’s birth name was mentioned already, but turns out I was thinking of Aristide Am-ell, not Am-ato. Aristide Amell was Hawke’s grandpa (Leandra and Gamlen’s father)!

Drayden’s VA did amazing on those wails 😭

Ah the poetic narrative of the very family who let their kid be ostracized because they were connected to the Fade, stepping up to investigate possible “dark magics” that affected the community and being killed for it…

Today I learned: “garrote” is not only the sitting execution method, but also a portable wire-like weapon. Which makes much more sense in the context of “we have people to get rid of as quietly as possible”

Achievement unlocked: Nadia and Drayden have successfully trauma-bonded for the foreseeable future!

Gkfbjsvj I was iffy about Eliza insisting that Drayden’s parents didn’t actually hate them and they did love them and just didn’t know how to express it or whatever. But I guess… I want to believe people want to change and amend for their mistakes 🥺 If their father knew of their new chosen name (because he told Lucanis before dying), I’m assuming he did research / tried to find Drayden and successfully tracked them down but didn’t make himself known to pressure them into coming back, which makes his supposed regret more believable to me (unlike for example Dorian’s father in The Last Resort of Good Men). Idk maybe I’m overthinking it

What if… Drayden dies but due to their connection to the Fade, Emmrich binds their spirit in the next episode… 👁️👁️

I have mentioned before that my Worldstate does not have Hawke going to Adamant/the Fade at all, and the Inquisition allies the wardens. This leaves. The Perfect opportunity. Of plausible deniability. For Anders.

By this point, Anders is occasionally using his Real Name as an alias. He can, with nothing more than maybe a hair cut and a change into his old warden gear, reunite with his husband and child, terrorize Varric, avoid Cullen and Cassandra like a Scooby-Doo chase scene, etc. The rebels and Fiona openly call him Anders. His haters are so mAD but they NEED Hawke so bad they have to just sit and stew in it.

When tensions are high enough, and people demand a trial for Anders, the Inquisitor, a DALISH MAGE, flips the script on them: if the people are pushed to overlook the past abuses of the templars, they must also be willing to overlook the past retaliations of rebel mages. When they refuse to settle on a path forward, he pulls out The Folder.

The folder has the illegal tranquility orders from kirkwall, the ones with the Knight-Captains mark. Eyewitness accounts from Amell, with the seal of Amaranthine below, as well as several inquisition mages, from HAWKE, (mages are not people like you and me).

In essence: if the jury wishes to convict Anders of a crime, the exact same sentence will be given to Commander Cullen.

Anders is pardoned :)
