This is a #rockhyrax (#Procaviacapensis) I only found out about these yesterday... They're the closest living relatives to the ELEPHANT... Yes, this tiny #rodent (but they're not rodents) like creature is related to the elephant... And Manatee of course!? They look like they're ready to fuck you up, like a little ball of hate... Honestly Google pictures. But if mother nature did this to you, wouldn't you be mad too! They have their milk glands under their arm pits, tusks, and have poorly developed thermo regulation. I had the opportunity to hear the strange call of the hyrax in the wild while I was in Kenya. It was bizarre but amazing! #animalsyoudidntknowexisted . The #RockHyrax (Procavia capensis), also called the #RockBadger, the #CapeHyrax, the #Dassie, the #RockRabbit, the #Pimbi, the #Pelele, and the #Wibari, is one of the four living species of #hyrax, small, rodent-like creatures, closely related to (believe it or not) elephants and manatees. Similar in appearance to the Guinea Pig, this unique creature has small ears and a small tail. The largest hyrax are less than two feet long and weigh only about nine pounds. The Rock Hyrax can be found foraging in groups of ten to eighty members across Africa and the Middle East. These groups have been known to appoint look-outs, similar to Meerkats. The Rock Hyrax is common throughout its range and is even considered a pest in some areas. Because of its incomplete thermoregulation, this species is most active at dawn and dusk to avoid the hot sun. It prefers to dwell in mountainous habitats with lots of crevices to hide from its many predators, including leopards, snakes, birds of prey, and Caracals. Because of its occurrence in the Jewish Holy Land, the Rock Hyrax is mentioned in the Proverbs book of the Bible, being called small but wise. .
