A Golden Rumpus
A Golden Rumpus Golden Globe Recap!
The Golden Globes were on Sunday. We gathered together. On Twitter. For snark. Of course.
We’ve put some of all that right here. Just in case you love a hot mess of snark like we do.

It's time for a #TBT you guys. Because I said so. And because it's worth noting that this was a Justin Timberlake concert. (IMPORTANT.) Also, I feel like you can set your watch (calendar) by our hairstyles. 😂😁💇🏻😎 #capcitymoms #bestfriends

With the last few weeks being completely off-the-rails crazy, a much needed planning meeting is ABSOLUTELY what the two of us needed. For all the things. And all the catching up. Of course presents with swears and wine and popcorn were included. Because we really, really know how to have a meeting. Really. #capcitymoms #momlife

I recently read (devoured) Elizabeth Gilbert’s new book “Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear” in less than a week. Because all the things I’ve been struggling with when it comes to this creative life I’m supposed to be living were addressed in that book, and then I was able to lay them out in front of me and pick them apart and start to figure this out. I photographed pages with my phone and texted them to Jill. “She is talking to us.” I would write and then send pages of text to my dearest friend who would reply with something like, “Well. Fuck.” and I knew she got it. Because all the things I’ve been struggling with when it comes to this creative life I’m supposed to be living were addressed in that book, and then I was able to lay them out in front of me and pick them apart and start to figure this out. … Jill and I have always had these ideas. They show up in the middle of the night, or while we’re driving to work or when we’re in meetings or the middle of conversations and they say “HEY! YOU SHOULD BE WORKING WITH US! WE ARE GREAT IDEAS!” Sometimes they hold on so fast and so tight we are subject to them. This website, this is one idea that just wouldn’t let us go. So we made it happen, just so we could maybe get some sleep at night. We’ve had others, SO many other ideas and something would get in the way and then we wouldn’t do the thing we’d been so inspired to do and then, low and behold, just a short while later someone else would do the same thing – because that idea got tired of waiting on us and away it went to someone who would pay attention to it and make shit happen. Well…not any more. (More on Cap City Moms.) #capcitymoms #magiclessons #bigmagic (at Sacramento, California)

A couple of years ago, (has it really been THAT long?!) we had a domain and some not-quite-developed ideas that we could no longer ignore. I asked Sarah if we could ‘softly’ launch our new website on 11/12/13 because I’m a ginormous dork and a numbers geek. She told me we could launch whenever we wanted to. (Because I am an insane person who will do almost anything to get out of the work I'm being paid to do. Procrastination is what REALLY brought CCM to fruition.) So we did. (We SO did!) The past two years have been an absolute blast. (They really, really have!) This website and this community has evolved just as much as we have and, I believe, that’s exactly the point. We’ve always wanted CCM to be a comfy place to chat and have fun. To be moms who are more than just moms. You know, like ladies who love cheese plates and Oscar parties and training for races. (Sometimes.) (Yeah...races. I'm tired just thinking about it.) Life has been insane the past six months. Like, overwhelmingly insane. (Please disregard our uncontrollable weeping... we're exhaused.) So tonight, we’re taking a small time out to discuss all the things we need to do and all that we have going on over drinks and guacamole. (Because I REFUSE to work without drinks and guacamole! It's in my contract!) But while we’re here…we’ll toast to the fun of the past two years while looking forward to what the next year brings. We know that it absolutely includes Oscar parties and cheese plates and SOME of us reading the book club books and SOME of us not. It may or may not include training for something. Jury's still out on that one, let's be honest. We are all complicated ladies who reserve the right to change our minds and the rules. For funsies. Happy Birthday Cap City Moms and this amazing Capital City community of badass bitches. Can I get a WOOT WOOT! #capcitymoms (at Zocalo at The Fountains)

No one is more surprised than us that Snapchat is, well...it's fun. Dammit. So, yeah...you can follow our weirdness and various adventures over there too. And it just so happens that a certain Cap City Mom is in our nation's capital this week. FITTING! #capcitymoms (at Sacramento, California)

Hey. You know that thing you wanted to do? That goal you wanted to reach? It doesn't matter if it's something in your career or your relationships or as a mom...you should do that thing and stop waiting for a "better" time. Because right now is a pretty good time. And yes, we're talking to ourselves as well. #capcitymoms

If you’ve always been a super duper rule follower, blazing your own trails seems like a really bad idea. Except, it’s the BEST idea. If you can actually convince yourself to take that first step. Going against the norm, or what’s expected, can make you feel like you’re on a roller coaster experiencing that first big dive. Except…isn’t that the fun part? Isn’t that why we ride those damn things in the first place? This is a picture of us on California Screamin’ – one of our favorite rides ever. If nothing else, we are posting this to remind ourselves that we actually like that first big dip. And all the swoops and loops that come after. In motherhood, in our careers...in our communities...it's amazing what can happen when we step out of our comfort zones and get on the damn ride. #capcitymoms #community (at Disneyland/California Adventure)

This week has been all about getting back to it. Meal plans, healthier eating...waking up hella early so that we can hit the trails. We're still getting used to the ungodly hours, but these skies, though. Total show offs. #capcitymoms

I’m not saying we’ve been off the rails (we’ve been totally off the rails) but today is as perfect time as any to get back to it. Which means taking a page from our #bulletjournal for meal plans and grocery lists and, by golly, getting ourselves organized for the week. It feels so good to have some semblance of order in a week that already feels (and is) insane. One less things to stress about, friends. || #capcitymoms #momlife ||

Not gonna lie...the past week has been a wild (and emotional) ride. But we are back from moving a kid into the dorms and I'm trying pick up where I left off and figuring out what I need to do. Which means lots of coffee and bullet journaling. Because that's what we do. It also hopefully means fewer texts to Sarah as I'm eating junk food in bed. Okay, that only happened once. From the hotel. (But I mean...it's not like it was MY bed. I have my standards.) #momlife #capcitymoms

Sarah and I met up with some fabulous local bloggers with the @capcityblogger network on Wednesday. It was a lovely, supportive group that aims to focus more on collaboration vs competition in our local blogging community. We’ve also found ourselves (or *I* have found myself…Sarah should absolutely be there) amongst incredibly talented creatives in the @risingtide and @tuesdaytogether groups. I’m blown away by every single one of these creative geniuses. But instead of running with all that inspiration, I sit here, not posting anything…because what the hell am I doing here?? Don’t belong! ABORT ABORT. You see, Cap City Moms is all about the chaotic and frenzied and wonderful and amazing. It’s about being a mom and being a friend and being ourselves. We are messy and unstructured with a flair for the styled or fancy and my gawd, we love all things pretty. Every so often, we love getting dressed up but we love our yoga pants (or no pants) more. This is us…inviting you into our proverbial living room for wine and probably a cheese plate. (Who am I kidding? Of COURSE there will be a cheese plate. Duh.) Sometimes that living room is all dolled up ready for company. Sometimes…well, sometimes it’s super not and you have to step over the kids’ shoes and the dog maybe just threw up on the floor. BUT WE PROMISE TO PUT ON PANTS WHILE YOU’RE HERE. At the end of the day, what matters most, is that we’re all having a damn good time and laughing so hard we probably choked on some cheese. (Don’t worry…everyone’s fine.) We can’t promise perfection, but holy shit, we hope you’ll enjoy the ride while you’re here. #capcitymoms (at capcitymoms.com)

I actually went in search of another #tbt picture and somehow landed on this one as I was yelling at the dog. Sometimes our kids are the best damn cheerleaders. 💖 #momlife #capcitymoms (at www.capcitymoms.com)
