__________
When you pulled up to the dark house, you noticed Russell’s car had been pulled into the garage and covered with a tarp. You swallowed as you pulled in beside it, biting back bile when Owen parked right behind you, preventing any escape if it came to that. You’d given Russell nearly thirty minutes notice to prepare. You really hoped whatever he had planned was going to be over with fast.
“Fuck,” said Owen, dashing from his car in the downpour to inside the garage. He shook himself off like a dog and pulled off his baseball cap. You’d seen the gash on his forehead before but from the overhead light, a skull fracture was very visible. The dried blood had matted into his thick hair and, along with the other injuries, made him look half-dead.
“Why don’t you go relax inside, honey?” you forced out when you exited, slamming the door shut loudly, hoping Russell picked up on the fact you were here. “I’ll get the bags and then I’ll take a look at those cuts.”
“Thanks, baby. Don’t take too long.” You didn’t like how he kept saying that. He’d hung off of you at the store. Even if he wasn’t a raging psycho, personal space was still a thing.
You pretended to fuss about at the trunk as he went in the door from the garage to the house. It was quiet for a beat, your gaze locked on the open door in the corner.
Two quick shots rang out and you hit the cement floor hard. Nothing could be heard over the rain, your heart hammering away in your chest. Russell wouldn’t have shot Owen, would he? No, Russell would have snuck up on him, taken him out before he knew what hit him.
So had Owen been shooting? Was Russell hurt? You slowly sat up on your hands and knees, crawling along the side of the car until you reached the hood. You peaked your head around the corner and saw a pair of legs lying on the ground through the open door. It looked like Owen so you carefully rose, flinching when Russell came bounding in from behind you.
He held up his hands, your eyes widening at the blood staining his crisp white tee.
“What-”
“My stitches tore,” he said, turning his bicep towards you, the blood staining underneath the bandage. “Are you okay?”
You nodded, glancing back inside to where the body lay motionless. “Did you kill him?”
“Not yet,” said Russell, inching past you towards a work bench. “Although he did shoot my fucking front door. Do you have any idea how much a custom mahogany door costs? I might kill him for that alone.”
Russell opened a drawer, taking out duct tape and zip ties. He slammed it shut, pausing with his back to you.
“He’s not going to leave you alone if I let him live.”
“I know. He’s been following me for awhile I guess,” you said.
“I can frame him for Elpine’s murder if you don’t want me to kill him.” You leaned back against your car, Russell setting the items on the bench and joining you. “I don’t have to…you know.”
“How are you going to kill him?” you asked after a moment.
“Bag over the head. He’s passed out. He wouldn’t even feel it. Are you sure that’s what-” You went to his workbench and ripped off a garbage bag from the roll, Russell closing his eyes. “Y/N, you should stay out here. Let me do this.”
“Owen started slipping roofies into my drinks when I was fifteen.” His head snapped up as you sighed. “He drugged me twice but nothing happened because my dad was around. I had to be more careful once dad started to lose it. Owen’s a good decade older than me I’m sure you noticed. I’ve been scared of this guy for too long. I’m not asking you to kill him. I’m asking you to show me how to do this myself.”
“I appreciate how strong you are but I’m doing it,” he said, taking the bag from you. You dropped your hand, frowning up at him. He sighed, stroking your cheek with his clean hand. “Your soul has enough scars for a lifetime. Don’t add more.”
“You don’t have to kill someone for me, Russell. You don’t need that on you either. Look what you’ve already done.”
“I won’t lose any sleep over him. You can do something for me though.” You sighed, nodding once. “Go back to the store and buy some extra large garbage bags and some duct tape, got it?”
“Um, yeah. Are you-”
“Y/N. We’re on the clock. We’ll talk later,” he said, kissing your temple. “Now go.”
Three Hours Later
“To be perfectly clear, I’m doing this for Y/N, not you,” said Colter with a coldness you didn’t love. You knew Russell’s relationship with his little brother was strained but you’d thought it had gotten better over the past few days.
“Yeah, well it don’t take a genius to see you like her better,” said Russell, Colter rolling his eyes, an uncharacteristic move. “I’ll never ask you for a thing again. You never even have to speak to me. Think what you want about me. Just please do this for Y/N’s sake.”
“I already…” huffed Colter when you side eyed him with narrowed eyes. He let out a slow exhale. “Fine. You owe me, Russell. Big.”
“Colter,” you said, nodding towards his truck. You left Russell as he went back to taping the large cooler in the garage shut. You assumed he’d put Owen inside and cleaned up while you were gone at the store. The rain had paused momentarily but there was another batch of storms coming through soon. You sighed as you stopped next to the younger Shaw, Colter crossing his arms. “I’m not letting you do this. I know Russell asked but I can’t let you move a body for me.”
He narrowed his eyes, face turning into a scowl.
“I’m not moving…Russell!” Russ’ head popped up, Colter becoming increasingly annoyed. “Tell me what is going on right now or I swear you and me are done. Forever.”
Russell sighed, throwing his head back. “I may have lied about the Y/N wanting to tag along with you so she can tidy up her place in Virginia.”
“You what?” you asked, storming over to him. “You were trying to pawn me off on Colter again? For what! Owen’s dead, there’s no one left to bother me.”
“Sweetie,” said Russell, closing his eyes. “Owen should not have made it out alive and the fact he did isn’t good.”
Slowly Russell met your gaze, ignoring Colter behind you. “So is this how it’s going to be? Any time everything’s not perfect you’re going to drop me on your brothers doorstep at the drop of a hat? News flash, Colter isn’t my babysitter. I’m a grown woman who has seen and handled more crap than you know. I thought you didn’t think of me as a damsel.”
“I don’t but-”
“But you don’t want me around for the hard stuff. I got the message.”
“Y/N, someone else could still be left. They could kill you-” You held up your hand, Colter heading back to his truck to give you some space.
“I think I finally understand how you’re so perfect but alone. You live this life like you’re this happy go lucky guy but it’s a mask. All you actually see is the dark side of it. Of everything. You are more than happy to step into my dark side but you won’t let me see yours? You wouldn’t let me kill Owen. You won’t let me help clean it up. Even when it’s because of me. You have to always be the hero. Honestly, thinking about it, it’s been all my shit we’ve talked about. All you say is your got a dark past but you haven’t shared diddly squat. Is this how it’s going to be Russell? Because frankly, I want more than that. I told you I don’t need you to do things for me, I just need you to help me do them.”
Russell swallowed, face going stoic. “Maybe this was a mistake.”
Your heart dropped like a rock into the pit of your stomach, Russell’s jaw clenching. “You should pack up your stuff here and go with Colter. Go back to Virginia. You’re probably right. This was just attraction, plain and simple.”
“Russell, that’s not what I was saying-”
“Yeah, it was. Just go. Please. I’ll deal with Owen. Just go back to Virginia and start your life over away from people like us.” With that he brushed past you for Colter, ignoring his repeated calls.
“Asshole,” you mumbled as you went inside and shoved the few belongings that weren’t in the trunk of your car into a bag. You very purposefully left every pair of underwear, bra and pajamas he’d bought you behind. The cheap sports bra and cotton underwear you’d bought earlier would get you through until you were home.
If that’s how Russell wanted to end things, fine. You were free of the mafia. Free of guys with fucked up pasts. Your options were limitless.
And thank god Colter was smart enough to not ask about your red rimmed eyes by the time you were on the road.
Five Days Later
You gave Colter a wave from your front step as he drove off down the street. It’d taken only two days to drive cross country this time. Apparently you drove faster when you were upset. Or you didn’t sleep as much. Either way, Colter didn’t ask and was happy to get to Virginia where he had a missing accountant to find.
He used your kitchen as a base of operations and you let him crash in the guest room. In exchange, Colter got you hooked up with the basics of reward work. There were some extra perils to the job being a woman but also advantages that Colter didn’t have. He went over finding jobs, finding a team, learning how to get access to tools and databases. You didn’t have a lot of confidence in going after a full fledged disappearance yet but Colter mentioned it wasn’t always people that were what was missing.
By the end of his short stay, you had information overload but were grateful for the chance to start doing something good for once in your life.
Meanwhile, Russell hadn’t reached out once. You had to assume he’d disposed of Owen. You weren’t sure why you were still waiting for a text or a call. It was pretty clear things were over. Russell was too protective and you weren’t going to let another man tell you what to do again.
Yet, you knew you were at fault too. Russell had just killed a guy in his house for you and he knew a hell lot more about getting away with a murder than you did. Russell had points for not wanting to involve you. And you had to be an asshole and pressure him for more when there was literally a dead body at your feet.
“I’m an idiot,” you groaned, leaning against the kitchen island with your head lowered. “Why did I do that?”
The doorbell rang, your head slowly rising. You sighed as you went to it, pulling it open quickly.
“Did you forget-” You cut yourself off when you didn’t see Colter standing there. No, instead stood Russell in a trim black suit, his hair slicked back and a bouquet of orange and red flowers in his hands. “Russ? What-”
“Let me get this out and then I’ll get out of your life forever if that’s what you want,” he said. You leaned against the door jam, Russell taking a deep breath. “Y/N, I like you. A lot. Too much probably for how long we’ve known each other. Everything you said was right. I avoid my problems because it’s a hell of a lot easier to fix someone else’s in my experience.”
He swallowed, glancing at his feet. “Owen could have hurt you at that store. He could have taken you, shown up at the house and killed you. I fucked up and you don’t seem to understand that Owen’s obsession and how fucking smart you are is the only reason we’re still here and he’s not. I told you I took care of it and I didn’t. I was angry at myself and wanted you somewhere safer than with me so I pushed your buttons on purpose. I lied on purpose so you’d get mad and leave with Colter. You deserve a good man and I’m not him. I kill people. I use sex as a way to be close to women but then never let myself be in a relationship because I don’t want them to see beneath the surface and see the shit that’s in there. I want better for you than me.”
Russell looked up, a tiny smile forming on his face. “Can we try being friends again and maybe I can become that man that deserves you along the way?”
“Russell,” you sighed. You stepped forward, cupping his cheeks, green eyes full of caution. “We can be friends. I’d like it if we were more than that, though.”
He slowly smiled, his lip ticking up when you stroked his cheek.
“I’m sorry for jumping down your throat. You do not have to share your deepest darkest secrets with me, never mind the first day we’re actually together. That was unfair of me. I just want you to know you can share them with me if you want to.”
“I’ve killed a lot of people, Y/N,” he said softly. “Dozens. Some of them, most of them, I never gave two shits about. No nightmares. No trauma. That’s not normal. It’s been years since I’ve felt all that bad about killing.”
“You don’t need to feel bad about killing monsters,” you said. He closed his eyes and you leaned in, kissing his forehead. “S’that why you didn’t want me to kill Owen?”
“Moral and practical reasons,” he whispered. “I don’t kill out of revenge. I don’t think I ever have. It always has another purpose. Protect someone, protect a group or the general public from a threat. Some psych told me once that’s why I don’t struggle as much with what I’ve done as some other folks. The way I grew up helped me with that. But I do struggle with it still and you’ve struggled enough. You don’t need that on you.”
“I understand. I’m so used to being controlled and told what to do…I can never go back to that.”
“You never will,” he said, opening his eyes. You tilted your head, Russell turned into your touch to match. “I’m sure I’ll fuck things up again. We can be friends if that’s all you ever want.”
“I don’t want to be just friends. So what if we fight? That’s what couples do.” You took his hand in yours and the flowers in the other, leading him inside behind you.
“I quit my job a few days ago.” You froze, spinning around on your heels. He shrugged, still holding your hand. “I can’t change my life without making some changes.”
“You still want to do that home brew for a career?”
“Yeah. I’d like to give it a shot.” He spotted the stacks of papers on your kitchen table and open computer. “Colter offer you a spot on his team?”
“He did at first but I want to try doing it my way, stop patching up the bad guys and doing something good. He warned me it can be dangerous work though, especially as a woman flying solo.”
“He makes very good points,” said Russell, thumbing at your lip when you smiled. “What’s that look for?”
“Maybe you could be on my team sometimes, show me a few moves from the expert.” You started to walk backwards towards your bedroom, Russell’s eyebrows raising. “If you want to.”
“I’ll show you any kind of moves you’d like, qark.” He held his ground though, stopping you in place. You waited for the but to come, for him to push back on getting back together. Instead, he took the flowers from your hand and went into your kitchen, finding a tall glass and filling it with water. He set the flowers on the island before rejoining you, resting his hands on your hips. “I like the idea of working together as partners.”
“But…” you said, Russell kissing the top of your head.
“But you are far too kind, my queen of darkness. I was expecting to get told to get lost tonight and I have plans I can’t get out of with my friends very shortly.”
“Oh,” you said, Russell’s finger tips finding the ends of your hair and playing with a few strands. “If you have plans, we can meet up another-”
“You want to know my dark side?” Your eyes flicked to meet his, your head nodding once. “You can’t unknow what kind of man I am once you do. I don’t blame you if you change your mind about me.”
“I want to know you. All of you.” He closed his eyes and nodded.
“Go change into something discreet. Dark clothes. Leave your phone home. If at any point you want to leave, say so and I bring you right back here, understand?” You nodded, Russell backing away. “Mind if I change in your bathroom?”
“You can change in the bedroom with me.” He smirked but backed away.
“Another time. We have an appointment to keep.”
“Where are we going?” you asked, Russell glancing away.
“Don’t be mad but we need to pay Owen a visit.”
Twenty minutes later you quietly followed Russell into what looked like a decommission warehouse that should have been torn down a decade ago. The building was pitch black apart from the single light coming from the end of a hallway. You stuck behind Russell as you entered the room, stopping when you found six different men and a woman inside, most carrying a weapon on their hip or tucked into their jeans from what you could tell.
And smack in the center of the room tied to a chair was Owen very much still alive. Although…alive was being generous. He didn’t look more injured than when you’d last seen him but his color was off and his eyes were red and puffy. He wasn’t even angry when he saw you, just…scared.
“He behave while I was gone?” asked Russell to a man and woman nearby.
“Tried bribing Doug and then all of us to let him go,” said the woman. She gave Owen a nasty look before turning gentle as she looked towards Russell. “I think you scared the poor boy, Shaw.”
“Oh, who’s afraid of little old me?” said Russell, giving Owen a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “So. Owen, my friends. Friends, Owen. You’re already acquainted with Y/N.”
Owen’s gaze flickered to you when Russell grabbed a chair from the wall and sat it a few feet away from Owen, facing him. Russell sat down slowly, nodding when you moved closer so you could see both their faces.
“Why’s he still alive?” you asked quietly. Owen’s eyes widened, Russell tsking him.
“On me, big guy,” said Russell, snapping his fingers, Owen reluctantly looking at him. “You got some options. Prison. You die very quickly. Or…me and my friends can make sure you die very slowly. Your choice.”
“Why didn’t you kill him yet?” you asked again. Russell sighed, glancing down. “Russell.”
“There were some things that never sat right with me that I wanted answers to. The stuff with your family’s accident and your dad’s paranoia, him attacking you. I had a paranoid father too. I know the signs, know that they want to protect us in their own way. The coincidence of meeting someone just like me was too high so I started to dig. You mentioned Owen’s drugged you a few times in the past and tried to hurt you.”
“Yeah…I’m not following,” you said. Russell stood slowly, staring down Owen like a predator with it’s prey firmly caught in a trap.
“I figured if he drugged you, who else had he slipped something to? What good man, good doctor, could a prescription drug running family slip into his drinks? The more I researched, the more my friends helped, the more we found.” Russell clenched his fists by his side, knuckles turning white. “Should I tell her Owen? Or do you have the balls to tell her yourself?”
Russell ripped off the tape over his mouth, Owen wincing as he breathed deeply. Russell was on him like that, grabbing his throat, not squeezing but adding enough pressure that it was going to be uncomfortable. “I told you to talk, you sack of shit.”
“Y/N, this guys is lying. I never did anything to you!” Russell’s jaw clenched and you watched him squeeze, only backing off when you laid a gentle hand on Russell’s shoulder.
“He’s psycho!” said Owen, Russell backing up a step. You looked up to him, Russell’s face unreadable. “Y/N, baby-”
“Shut the fuck up before I stab you in your spine,” you said. Owen’s jaw snapped shut, a flicker of something in Russell’s eyes. Pride? Amusement? It quickly flittered away, replaced with worry when you held out a hand. “Can I have your knife?”
Russell slowly took it out of his pocket, handing the engraved handle out to you. You flicked it open and took a seat in the chair, holding it pointed down at the concrete floor.
“Owen. Tell me the truth and I won’t kill you. I swear. But I can get the answers from you if you don’t cooperate. Don’t make me get my boyfriend’s knife bloody.”
You heard a muttered damn from someone behind you, your focus on Owen. He sagged in his seat and closed his eyes.
“Our old fixer wanted out, wanted to go to the feds so my dad had him killed. I was eighteen and he told me to start earning my place as successor. He told me to find a new fixer. Your dad was one of the best doctors in the city. Things were…arranged. Two weeks later we-”
Russell smacked the back of his head. Hard. Owen grunted, shaking it out.
“Two weeks later I…put a hit on your family. Your mom and brother specifically. We only needed one kid to survive and I thought a girl would be easier to control. I started drugging your father that night with antipsychotics to create paranoia,” said Owen, his head hanging low. “I orchestrated the whole thing. We fed him the drugs for years, it made him stay close if not a little extreme. It kept taking more though.”
“Do. Not. Skip. Ahead,” growled Russell, grabbing a fistful of Owen’s shirt.
“O-okay. I-I…I started thinking about how to get your dad to stick around once you grew up and you were pretty and smart and I thought you’d be happy with me.”
“How old was she when you decided this?” barked Russell. Owen whimpered, trying to curl in on himself. “Fifteen you disgusting waste of space.”
“You started drugging me then,” you said. Owen shook his head.
“Not with that stuff. Just roofies. But not enough for you to be completely out of it. Your dad started keeping a closer eye on you and I tried waiting for you to come around on your own but it was so hard when you went away to college. I knew I couldn’t let you run off like that again so…” Owen’s shoulders shook, mouth snapping shut.
“So you roofied her, attacked her and she fought back. Her father protected her and you fucking killed him for it. Your dear old daddy found what you’d done and wasn’t happy, was he? He covered up your murder and blamed her father knowing Y/N wouldn’t remember a thing. Y/N was forced to go to med school and learn crap she didn’t want to all while daddy had you banished away from her. You tried to keep tabs on her but it wasn’t until dad died that you could finally take Y/N like you wanted. It’s pure fucking luck I showed up when I did to make sure that didn’t happen. Would you like to tell Y/N about the fucking padded door locks and bars on the window in her old room back at the house? About your plans for her?”
Russell grabbed Owen’s hair, forcing his head up. Owen was trembling, whispering apologies and saying how he didn’t mean it, over and over.
“So…you killed my family…and tried to assault me more than once over the years…and were planning on keeping me as a…pet in the house until I magically fell in love with you. I think that sums it up,” you said. You stood up, handing Russell his knife. “I’m not going to kill him.”
“Thank you,” sighed Owen in relief. “Thank you. I-I knew you’d be able to forgive me-”
“Oh, I don’t forgive you and I wouldn’t be thanking me,” you said, smiling up at Russell. ““Papa Elpine and a few guys made it out I heard. Bobby was his favorite son, right?”
“Y/N! I killed Bobby! They’ll-” Russell shoved some tape over his mouth and hummed.
You crossed your arms, Russell tilting his head at you. “You know they’re going to torture Owen to death.”
“I said I wouldn’t hurt him and I’m keeping my word,” you said, Owen shouting under the tape. “I’d tell you to confess but Elpine’s connected. He’d just have you killed in prison. So. Elpine it is.”
“You sure?” asked Russell. You pursed your lips, Owen pleading with his eyes. Everything in you wanted to say yes, let him get what he had coming.
So why couldn’t you say it?
You looked to Russell, nodding. “Get rid of him, please,” you mouthed.
“Look away,” said Russell. You turned around, Owen panting hard before there was a loud crack and the room was still. Russell’s hand found your shoulder, rubbing it softly. “We took care of Elpine’s guys. You know that.”
“I just wanted him to be as scared as I’ve been. I-I just…why’d it have to be my family?” You found his face, Russell smiling sadly.
“I’ve asked myself that question a lot over the years. Best I came up with is you got to try and let it go. The world’s good and bad and that’s all there is to it.” He wrapped his arm over your shoulder, walking you towards the door. You nearly looked back but he blocked you with his body. “No. He’s gone for good, you don’t need to give him anything more. I’m sorry for not killing him back in Washington. I just thought you deserved the truth. Your dad was a good man.”
“Thank you,” you said, closing your eyes. “I wish I realized that sooner.”
“Come on,” he said, walking you out to the hallway. “Let’s get you home.”
One Month Later
You smiled from your chair when Russell let out a single tiny snore from the couch across from you. He hadn’t gotten much sleep the past few days and honestly, it was kind of adorable the way this incredibly dangerous man made the cutest cooing noises while he slept.
“You’re staring at me,” he mumbled without opening his eyes a few minutes later. You looked around, holding up a finger. “I can feel you watching, like a creeper.”
“Well, you make these cute sounds when you sleep,” you said. He smirked, slowly flicking his lazy eyes open.
“And who’s fault is it that I haven’t been sleeping, hm?” You shrugged and slid down in your chair with your book, grinning behind the pages. “I can see that smile, you know that?”
“Don’t blame me for the amazing orgasms you give,” you said, flicking your eyes over the top of the book, Russell propping himself up on his elbows with a predatory gaze. “Down boy. Later.”
“You better,” he said, plopping back with a huff. “Remind me to never help Frank with a favor ever again.”
“Frank helped you with Owen,” you reminded him. Russell scoffed.
“All he did with Owen was stand there and look scary. I didn’t make him build a fucking deck in the pacific northwest in forty degree weather.”
“Aw, is baby boy cranky?” you teased. He growled, playfully tossing his pillow at you. “You guys should wrap up tomorrow, right?”
“That’s the plan. Then I’m going back to waking up at a humane hour,” he said, forcing himself to sit up and stretch out with a few grunts. “How long was I out?”
“About an hour and a half. You needed it,” you said, flipping a page. Russell glanced over to the dining table, taking in the decorated spread.
“You set a place for Colter?” he asked.
“Yes…right next to Dory’s,” you said, closing your book and setting it aside. “You still think he won’t come?”
“He’s not the kind of guy to come to a housewarming party. Especially his brother’s housewarming party. We still haven’t talked since…”
“I know,” you said, standing and pulling him to his feet. He was still sleepy as you ruffled his hair, Russell turning into the touch. “I’m excited to meet your friends and family properly.”
“They want to know all about you, that’s for sure,” he chuckled. “You can’t imagine the amount of shit they’ve given me after I said I’d never settle down.”
“I moved in a week ago. We’re a ways from settling down,” you said. He titled his head, smiling at you. “Don’t give me that face.”
“What face?” he teased, leaning in close, dipping his head, kissing under your jaw.
“Shaw! Do not give me a hickey! I do not want them seeing-” You sucked in a breath, brain going fuzzy when he nipped at the soft flesh.
“Too bad, qark. If I have to have hickeys all over my neck then so do you,” he said, suckling the skin. A buzzer went off in the kitchen and he groaned when you slipped away so the rolls wouldn’t burn. “Y/N…”
“Saved by the bell,” you said, taking out the pan and leaving them to cool off. Russell was by your side quickly, hands on your hips so you couldn’t escape. “Okay. How about you can give me as many hickeys as you want later if you’re a good boy this afternoon?”
“Hm, I do like being your good boy,” he said, squeezing your hips. “Deal.”
“Good. Where do you keep-“
The doorbell trilled, your heads turning towards the front windows. A familiar pickup truck was out front, Russell raising his eyebrows. You nodded for the door, Russell cautious as he answered. Colter stood on the front porch with an awkward forced smile and a pink box.
“I uh, picked up some dessert for dinner later,” he said offering the box. Russell took it, setting it aside on the front table. “You going to invite me in?”
“I thought you…” Russell shook his head and opened the door wider, letting his younger brother inside. Colter gave you a brief smile before clearing his throat.
“I uh, can help you get ready or cook. I just…last time we talked Russell…”
You smiled to yourself when Russell closed the gap between them, giving Colter a strong embrace. “Let's leave that shit behind us. Thanks for coming, Colt.”
“Yeah,” said Colter, returning it for a moment before the boys broke apart. “How’s the girlfriend situation working out for you?”
“I’m telling you man, find the right girl, you’ll never want to go back to being a loner,” said Russell, giving you a smirk. “They do come with a lot of rules though, fair warning.”
“I asked you to put the toilet seat down, Shaw,” you chided.
“Like I said, rules,” teased Russell. You picked up a knife by your cutting board, narrowing your eyes. “We should help before she starts using that on us.”
“Yes you should,” you said, Colter shrugging out of his jacket and boots, joining your side after washing up. “Can you cut up the veggies into strips?”
“Can do,” he said, swapping places with you. You smiled when Russell took the dessert box and started to arrange the treats on a platter over on the dinning table. “I’d like to apologize for my behavior the last time we were all here.”
You frowned as you peeled a bag of potatoes into a bowl. “You mean when I lost my cool on Russell? You have nothing to apologize for Colter. We were asking you for a favor. Again. I’m honestly surprised you don’t hate me. I know you value your alone time.”
Colter was quiet, chopping neatly and pushing the scraps into a discard bowl. “Did Russell ever tell you how he got that gunshot he went to you for in the first place?”
“Someone kidnapped Doug. He went to save him.”
“Did you know I helped him with that?” You shook your head, setting the peeler down. Colter had stopped dicing, a barely there smile crossing his face. “If it weren’t for my brother asking for my help with his friends, I’m not sure we ever would have spoke again.”
“I know there’s a complicated history there.” He hummed, watching Russell across the room. “It means a lot to him that you’re trying too.”
“Sall we can do is try, right?” he said, going back to his cutting. “So. My brother is clearly head over heels. What about you? Should I expect a wedding invitation soon?”
“Uh, no,” you said, laughing to yourself. “We’re certainly not traditional but we’re nowhere near ready for that. We’ll see how living together goes for awhile before we talk about anything like long term plans.”
“Yet you moved in already.” You rolled your eyes. “Just an observation.”
“For convenience sake. Russ is looking into land for the brewery around here since he left his job and apartments in town are limited.”
“Right. I’m sure that’s it. Silly me,” he said. You held up your peeler to him, Colter raising his hands. “Russ, I think I broke one of your girlfriend’s rules.”
“It was nice knowing ya,” said Russell with a chuckle. “Give him a swift death for me, qark.”
“Qark?” asked Colter as you turned your attention to the potatoes.
“Queen of darkness. Now hurry up with those so you and Russ can have some alone time before dinner.”
Six Hours Later
“This is going well,” said Russell to you in the kitchen as laughed and a smoky scent filtered in from the back porch. “Everyone really likes you.”
“I suppose I have met them all before, except for Dory. She’s such a sweetheart. I don’t know what I was expecting but-”
“She was much younger than us when our dad died. After she went to live with our aunt and uncle. She’s tough but normal in a way Colter and I won’t ever…” You rubbed his back, his strong arm wrapping around your waist to keep you close. “Did you like, drug him? Or bribe him? I seriously can’t believe he’s still here let alone came.”
“Of course he came. No matter what’s happened in the past, he loves his big brother.” Russell tucked you into his side, smiling when you rested your head on his shoulder. “I found a job in Wyoming. Missing prized show dog. I was going to head out in the morning, see if I’m any good at this.”
“You’ll be wonderful,” he said, kissing the top of your head. “Be safe though.”
“I will be.” You turned in his hold to face him, wrapping your arms around his back in a hug. “It’s been a long time since anyone cared if I was safe. It’s nice. This weird little family you have is…I’m jealous to be honest.”
“You shouldn’t be. It’s yours too.” You raised your eyebrows, Russell raising his own, eyes going wide. “No! No, I don’t mean like, officially yours. Like metaphorically. I’m not ready for anything official. Someday but so not right now.”
“Me either,” you said, the tension running out of his face. “I want to know who we are without our old jobs, how to be a happy queen of darkness.”
“We’ll figure it out together,” he said. “Speaking of which, I got you a present for helping organize all of this and cooking for ten people after literally just moving cross country. I know it was stressful so I wanted to make it up to you.”
“I don’t need a present, Russ,” you said, a sneaky smile forming on his face. “Oh. This is a present for the both of us.”
“I got you a new pair of jammies, the lilac set this time,” he said. Russell’s smile grew as yours did, his arms lifting you off the ground, bringing you to eye level. “You deserve all the good things in life, qark.”
“I think we got something pretty good starting right here,” you said, kissing him once, Russell humming.
“I couldn’t agree more, baby. Couldn’t agree more.”

------------------------
The world was not normal anymore. Everything started 15 years ago afer a yet another global pandemic. Some have passed away, some barely had any changes due to the illness but 1/14 of the population between 1 and 21 became really infected.
You see, it was not a typical disease. Sure, for some it was like a cold but those unfortunate young people who had the right genetic basis for the mutation of the disease were practically cursed. The mutation caused those sick people - depending on a person - either to shrink up to 3-4 inches or grow up to even 60 feet tall.
It took the doctors a few months to find medication to help control the sudden changes of size, but the illness was proven to be incurable. Medication could only help control the size changes slightly better but couldn't fully stop it.
Present time
In this crazy world there was only one thing that wasn't crazy.
"Hunter!" Nate yelled while chasing his best friend. The young boys were friends since they were 8 so now it was a decade of friendship. Their relationship was the only normal thing in the world: no lies, no envy just pure platonic love and..
"Give me back my phone, you psycho!"
Pranks.
"I'm gonna text her" Hunter laughed after unlocking his best friends phone "I'm finally gonna tell Evie that you have a crush on her!"
In a world full of the so called 'size shifters' (they could just call them weriedos in Nates opinion), so basically giants and tinies, having a friend like Hunter was a blessing. Well, at last Nate though that. Hunter didn't have too many friends becouse he wasn't very out going and could come off as cold sometimes but he was surely the sweetest, gentleman ever. Nate on the other hand was the most troublesome kid all middle and high school. He would always ruin something, say something rude to a teacher, skip classes, fail exams..
At last Hunter cared about him. And Nate cared about Hunter as well.
You could practically call them brothers at that point. 10 years of friendship? That sounds like 'forever' is ahead of them. Well.. it was.
This unfortunate day Nate has gotten a 'brilliant' idea: surprise (and scare) Hunter by coming out of his closet (no double meanings) as he returns home from soccer practice.
Everything was going well. Hunters mom bought the lie that Nate was supposed to wait for Hunter in his room and she left the house. Nate didn't have too much time before he heard Hunter opening the front door. He quickly jumped into the closet and closed the door, leaving just a tiny gap, so he could see what was happening on the outside.
The closet was dark, full of clothes and other stuff all around. Those things were nothing special: t-shirts, pants, caps, headphones, medication.. Wait, hold on.
Medication?
"Why does he have pills in there?" Nate though, grabbing the bottle. His mind raced with thoughts. It was too dark for him to figure out what kind of medicine was in the bottle. It was weried. Hunter wasn't sick. Well, at last Nate didn't know anything about that. He didn't have allergies, he didn't have asthma, never even needed pain killers...
"What if those are like drugs?" Nates heart skipped a beat. It would explain why Hunter wouldn't tell him. Maybe he was ashamed that he was an addict?
No, drugs didn't make any sense. Hunter wouldn't have done that. That's something pretty much impossible to happen.
"Maybe he is sick and doesn't wanna tell me because it's terminal"
Now Nate felt like he was going to puke. What if this was something serious? What if Hunter would-?
Just as he was about to create next 2000 scenarios, Hunter entered the room.
"Crap" Nate gasped "I forgot about the prank!"
He wasn't in the mood for pranks anymore. He was supposed to scare Hunter but..
As Hunter sat on his bed, he called Nate out.
"I can see you, dumbass, you know?"
Nate signed and then slowly opened the closets door and stepped out. His best friend didn't seem very surprised.
"You idio-" The boy began to speak, but stoped mid sentence as he saw what was in his friends hands. He got pale. He became completely paralyzed. He was..
Scared?
Nate didn't understand his expression. Surely, he couldn't have scared him. Hunter saw him. He wasn't as sly as normally. So why would he react this way?
He then looked carefully at his best friends expression. Hunters eyes flickered between Nates face and.. the bottle in his hand.
How could he have forgotten about that?
He looked down into his hand. Finally the light hit the white bottle with few simple blue words written on it.
Remedium Gigantismus.
"Heck of a weried name for a pill" Nate thought before he saw the smaller, English words.
A pill to help control morphing into a giant.
His eyes widden and he gasped.
Gigantismus. That means..
"A giant.." he mumbled under his breath. How was it possible he didn't realize earlier? He looked back at Hunter with wide, confused eyes.
Hunter stared at him looking almost terrified.
"Nate.." Hunters voice was a little shaky and he acted with a lot of caution "Let me-"
"Why the hell do you have those pills?" Nate spoke defensively. It felt surreal. Hunter never behaved like that. He never kept secrets. He most surely wouldn't be a fucking monster.
"Bro, I'm sorry, I should have told you sooner" the other boys brown eyes flickered with shame. He took a step into Nates direction but the shorter, blue-eyed one took a step back. Hunter was visibly shocked and hurt by that.
"What..? What the hell do you mean?" Nate still couldn't get that thought into his head. There had to be a different explanation. Hunter was not a freaking beast. He wasn't a man-eater. He wasn't one of those crazy giants that morph into their true size in the middle of a city to crush buildings, murder people and traumatize thoese who remain alive. Hunter wasn't like the one that did that to Nate.
"Nate, I really wanted to tell you. But after the accident in the gallery..." Right.
It all happened 4 years ago. Nate was in an art gallery with his so called girlfriend. She was his first crush. It was a great experience untill.. Unexpectedly one boy, barely older than them morphed into a giant. He crushed the building completely, walls fell down, floors broke into parts, the rooftop fell on top of many people, crushing them. The beast - the giant looked down at all those humans. He had an evil grin and the demonic stare that Nate still had nightmares of. The giant grabbed people like they were toys, bugs, pests even. He didn't hesitate to murder and eat all humans that he could reach. Hell, he even ate the girl that went out with Nate. Nate would forever remember those giant hands, the beasts stare, the blood flowing down his mouth and hands. Nate only survived because he was under a pile of fallen materials and wasn't visible to the monster. Even though he didn't die, he could still hear the delight in the beasts voice as he enjoyed the consumption of people, which made Nate feel dead inside. After the "accident", as everyone else refered to it, he became suicidal, had nightmares about giants almost every night but most importantly began to hate giants with all his heart. Hell, not only giants. All of those freaking weriedos that change their sizes. His therapist couldn't help him. Noone really could. The accident ruined him mentally and that could not be repaired. But Hunter was by his side after that terrifying, traumatizing experience. He was the only one who understood how much Nate hated thoese freaking monsterous giants and was the only one accepting the fact without telling him that "one situation doesn't define the whole species" or other shit people told him. They were murderers. Giants were murderers. Nothing more.
But now.. even Hunter wasn't on his side.
"Tell me it's not what I think it is" Nate almost begged at this point. He was so angry, so confused and so unbelievably terrified "Tell me you're not a monster!!"
Hunters eyes became glossy, his voice was shaky, he didn't want to lose his best friend "Nate, please.. I got infected 6 years ago. I didn't tell anyone but my parents and doctors. I wanted to.. I wanted to tell you but my parents told me it was a bad idea. And later the accident happened.. I didn't want you to hate me. I didn't want you to fear me" he tried to explain as he was slowly breaking down.
Nate felt his heart beat faster, his breath quickened, his hands trembled as he held the bottle firmly, his mind was filled with thoughts, he couldn't control the growing rage.
"Are you a fucking giant?!" Nate yelled at Hunter, visibly furious and panicked, somehow at the same time. He felt like he was going to puke. His head hurt. And his heart? It stung so freaking bad that he thought he was going to have a heart attack.
Hunter stood there, quiet for a secound before nodding. He looked ashamed. Hurt even. He knew he shouldn't have kept this a secret but let's be honest, if he told Nate would they continue being friends? Obviously no. Hunter just didn't want to lose him. He couldn't even bare the thought..
They both kept quiet for a few seconds, the first thing to break the silence was the sound of the bottle falling down onto the floor.
"How could you..?" The blue-eyed began to speak.
"Nate, please, it doesn't have to change anything-" Hunter spoke even though he didn't believe those words himself. His heart was pounding like crazy. He took two more steps into his best friends direction.
"Get away from me you monster!!" Nate snapped as he took a few steps back, visibly frighten by Hunter.
They have been friends for a freaking decade and now Nate was terrified of him.
Hunter broke down. Tears began to fall down his cheeks. He wasn't a monster.
"Please don't call me that" he whispered as he began to sob and cry louder. Just a secound later he ran off the room and out of the house leaving Nate all alone.
The boy collapsed onto the floor, sitting there stunned, shocked and scared. He couldn't understand the situation. It was unbelievable. How didn't he notice? Was Hunter faking their friendship? Would Hunter hurt him?
No, of course not. That was Hunter. His Hunter.
Nate stood back up and took a deep breath. He tried to regain his composure. His body was reacting before his mind was. He knew, deep down, that even if Hunter was a giant, he would never ever hurt him, but the trauma made him react on instinct, without thinking straight. As soon as Hunter was out of sight it was easy for Nate to feel calmer and regain his thoughts.
"How could I have been so cruel to call him a monster? I fucking made him cry" he thought as he stood up. When the fear began to fade away he realized what he had done. His behavior was unforgivable. Hunter was right about not telling him - Nate didn't take that information well. Hunter had every right to keep this to himself for the sake of their friendship.
"I have to fix this" Nate though as he realised he wouldn't loose his best friend like that. Not becouse he called him names. Not becouse of a sickness. Maybe the could find a way to make it work? He would sure as hell try, becouse Hunter was the most important person in his life.
Being truthful Nate doubted that they could still be best buddies. He wouldn't- couldn't be friends with a giant. But he also couldn't think about it now. It wasn't just a giant, it was Hunter. He needed to find him and apologize to him.
He ran after him, trying to find a direction he suspected the boy would choose. He knew his favorite forest spots and that's exactly where he went.
After almost 40 minutes of looking for Hunter, Nate has found him. He was sitting on a tree branch, sobbing. Nate approached him, fear growing back in his body as well as tention, but he wouldn't give up so easily.
"Hey man.." Nate began to speak. The sudden sound must have startled Hunter because he fell down as he turned around to see who was speaking.
Before he could say anything the earth began to shake and he began to grow.
Nate soon remember what he had learned in health class - strong feelings might cause a size-shifter to morph uncontrollably.
Nate looked up with wide eyes as his best friend was transformed into a 60ish foot tall giant beast.
"N-Nate..?" Hunter mumbled uncertainty as he realised he had grown, looking at his now tiny best friend.
Nope.
Nate turned around and began to run as fast as he could. He wouldn't be cought by a giant.
"Wait, Nate, please!!"

Steddie Faking Dating, Part 1
Eddie Munson was cuckoo bananas. Steve knew that. The entirety of Hawkins High knew that. Most of Hawkins, in general, knew that. Which makes it all the more insane that Steve did what he did.
He fell in love with him.
Trust him. Steve knows how mad, psycho, and every other word there is for “batshit crazy” there is for it. But he can’t help it! Steve’s a romantic at heart, and Eddie is the most romantic person he’s ever met. He wraps around Steve like an octopus, kissing every bit of skin in reach. He’s sung, like, at least four different songs for Steve on his electric guitar, which he didn’t even know could be romantic.
All in all, Steve was in love. Flipped around the head and spun until you’re dizzy kind of love. Although he hadn’t said it yet, Steve imagined Eddie feeling the same. Like the stares that Steve feels whenever he turns away from Eddie are brands pressed hot against his cheek. Like every kiss, cheek grab, and cuddle, Eddie pushed his love into Steve in any way he could. Eddie was always the more physical of the two.
But they weren’t yet at the stage where an “I love you” is acceptable. With Nancy, Steve was the one who said it first, two days after their fifth-month anniversary. Nancy said it back but later was informed that she never loved him. He’s going to take it more carefully with this one. They were only a few days past four months in, and it was much too soon to be throwing around the ‘L’ word. Steve just sat - zoning off on break at his summer Scoop’s Ahoy! job. He just turned over the words in his mind until they were no longer recognizable, but the feeling was still warming his chest.
“Steve!” Robin’s harsh shout comes from the front. Steve lurched from his daydream. Suddenly, the sound of crying children and the stickiness of the table in front of him became a reality.
Steve groaned, tilting back until the chair he sat on tipped back, and he could look back at the clock. It took him a second, it being upside down, but it was definitely only 2:28 p.m.
“I’ve got two minutes left!” he shouted, letting his chair fall back on all four legs. He ignored Robin’s grumbling and threats of bodily mutilation to stare at the blank wall before him and breathe in the sickly sweet smell of melted ice cream. It was petty, sure, but Robin had done the same to him, like, three times since the summer started. And he was not one to give up 120 seconds of precious zoning out time.
“Dingus!” Robin shouted, sounding much closer than before. She banged open the door to the backroom, the knob hitting the wall and leaving a mark.
“Jesus, Buckley!” Steve jumps, looking over to her unimpressed scowl and crossed arms.
“Break time’s over,” she tapped her wrist, despite the fact that there was no actual watch there. Steve rolled his eyes and grabbed the sailor's cap from where he threw it at the start of his break.
Robin laughed at his quiet grumbles as he passed him, patting him condescendingly on the back. She let the door swing shut, and Steve flinched at the large bang that echoed throughout the storefront. Avoiding the many kids’ and adults’ eyes, he turned back to admonish her - only to find that Robin wasn’t even there.
Steve could hear her witch’s cackle through the closed window, but it could have just been in his head, to be fair. But instead of arguing with her, which would lead to several customer complaints, he let her take her break. Steve was not in the mood to deal today.
He crammed the stupid hat on his head and turned to the storefront where a couple of giggling preteens already stood.
After, he just amused himself by looking over to the clock (which definitely moved at like half the speed as the clock in the breakroom, he’s sure of it) and returned to work. Robin joined after her own break, and they worked in tandem. It turns out they’re an okay team when they’re not at each other’s throats, but Steve won’t say that not wanting to tempt fate in one of her many taunts. Robin seemed just as tired of scooping ice cream as he was, so she didn’t even make any snide comments as they closed up Scoops Ahoy! for the night.
The next day went mostly the same, but Steve was much more excited.
“What’s got your panties in a bunch?” Robin asked, looking concerned at his constant smile. It wasn’t even a customer service one, but a real one. One hurt Steve’s cheeks a bit from how much he was beaming.
“Nothing, just having a friend come over tonight,” he told her - trying to seem casual. Something told him, though, that his “super casual shrug” didn’t help him. Heat crept up his neck and ears, and Steve was grateful that most of it was covered by hair.
Robin leaned forward onto the counter, setting her chin on her fists and fluttering her eyelashes daintily at him. “Oh, is this a lady-friend perhaps? One that you wooed with your ‘Steve Harrington Charm,’” she said - making bunny ears around “Steve Harrington Charm.”
“No,” he said, shaking his head and focusing on the mint chip ice cream he was switching out with a new batch. “I told you, I’m not interested in a relationship right now.”
Robin snorted meanly, “Sure.”
Desperate to turn the conversation off himself and onto her: “Hey, what about you? Got any secret admirers out there?”
Steve still wasn’t looking at his coworker, but he could hear her choke at the question. It felt a little good, he won’t lie, turning it back around on her.
“I’ve got a boyfriend,” she said after a moment, tapping her fingers against the counter to the beat of the corny song constantly playing through the speakers. “Might hang out with him after work today,” she shrugged, “Don’t know yet.”
Steve nodded, grabbing the empty ice cream container and returning it to the back to be taken out with the rest of the trash at the night's end. Thankfully, that won’t be him because he was able to get out early by switching with Clark, one of the other “crewmates.” He would have to take an early morning shift next Tuesday, but Steve still thought it was worth it. Eddie was coming over that night, and even though Steve could see him earlier that week, he couldn’t help but be excited.
When Steve got home that afternoon, he immediately stripped from his uniform and threw it in the hamper, covering it with some other dirty clothes. Heaven knows how Eddie would react if he saw that piece of clothing.
He’d probably ask Steve to wear it for sex, to be honest. And not that Steve wasn’t up for that (he was always up to sex with Eddie), but he only had one of these uniforms, and it needed to last for the entire summer.
Steve then jumped in the shower, scrubbing the stink of the nauseating scent of gone-bad ice cream and kid vomit. Children shouldn’t have a double fudge sundae after running around in the hot sun for three hours. Who knew? Not that kid’s parents, from how they whined and tried to give explanations as Steve was forced to mop it up.
Robin had way too much fun laughing at him from behind the counter, so Steve went to the bathroom when he saw Erica approaching them across the food court.
When Eddie knocked on Steve’s door at 3:45, fifteen minutes after he said he’d show up (like Steve knew he would be), the house was perfectly set up for movie night. Steve was already dressed in his old basketball sweatpants and one of Eddie’s shirts that he left behind too many times for Steve to be willing to give it back now.
Also, the look on Eddie’s face whenever he saw Steve wearing one of his band t-shirts was one of Steve’s favorites. This is only made better by Steve immediately shutting down any lust building him in eyes with an eye roll and a pull towards the couch.
Eddie whistled, “All setup, aren’t you sweetheart?”
Steve threw a throw pillow at the back of Eddie’s head, uncaring the squawk he let out. “Shut up.”
“Betrayed!” Eddie flailed about, falling back onto the couch, one foot on the cushion. “Hoaxed! Hoodwinked!”
Steve snorted, slapping Eddie’s socked foot aside and falling towards him - making sure to land on his outstretched hands and now Eddie’s ribs. He pressed his lips against Eddie’s before he started the dramatic monologue that Steve knew was coming.
Eddie surrounded immediately, moving to clutch his (or Eddie’s) shirt in both hands. Steve kept the kiss from becoming too dirty because he wanted to watch some movies but was content to make out for a few minutes longer. And God, did Eddie know how to make out with someone? It was wet and hot, sloppy than any other make-out he’d had with anyone else - but Steve loved it. He loved him.
He felt that familiar bubbling in his stomach, the urge to lean back and spit it out - so instead, he pressed forward. He dug his tongue between Eddie’s lips as he liked and let him do it before. Eddie’s stubble scratched against his cheeks, and his shoulder started hurting a bit, but Steve didn’t ever want to move.
Unfortunately, the choice was taken from him when Eddie pulled back, chuckling a bit when Steve tried to follow. “It seems my swindling worked,” he crowed quietly, pressing short but hard kisses against everything but Steve’s lips.
Steve opened his eyes, staring right into Eddie’s endlessly dark eyes. They were crinkled, and it took everything in Steve not to melt into goo. Instead, he raised a brow. “You think you tricked me, Munson?”
Eddie guffawed a laugh, his chest bouncing underneath Steve’s. “Munson, huh? You brought me back down to last names, Harrington?”
Steve couldn’t handle being close to Eddie and not kissing anymore, so he mumbled, “You betcha, Munson,” before returning to the previously scheduled content.
Steve could have spent the rest of his life kissing Eddie on this couch. Unfortunately for both of them, their young bodies couldn’t hold up in that position forever, and they were forced to move only a few minutes later. It was only then that Steve remembered the original purpose for Eddie coming over that night.
“Alright,” he said, pushing back from Eddie’s warmth. “I didn’t just invite you to make out.”
“You didn’t?” Eddie asked, pouting like it was terrible news. Steve just rolled his eyes (he swore, one day, they were going to get stuck like that). He kicked at Eddie’s leg that was being dragged teasingly up his own and stumbled over to the TV - unapologetically adjusting himself in his sweatpants. He ignored Eddie’s groan at the sight and busied himself with picking a movie.
“Which one do you want? Steve called back to him.
“What do you got?” Eddie called back, too lazy to stand over and come over to see for himself.
Steve shuffled through the VHSs, cringing at the choices. They were all from when he was a kid when his parents loaded up on movies so he wouldn’t bother them.
“Uh,” Steve started - trying to find some that wouldn’t be terrible to watch. “Superman 1 and 2, Jaws, Willy Wonka in the Chocolate Factory,” he listed them out, not thinking as he went from VHS to VHS.
“What the fuck, Stevie!” Eddie crackled behind him. “What’s with these movies?”
Steve felt the back of his neck go hot. “They’re all from when I was a kid, okay?”
“Wow, kid you had a shit taste.”
Steve laughed but covered it up with a cough, but not very successfully from Eddie’s crackle from behind him. “Do you want to help pick one, or are you just going to complain the whole time,” he glared mockingly at Eddie.
When Eddie finally decided to wander over, they chose Monty Python and Holy Grail, which came with the least amount of ribbing from Eddie.
Steve went into the kitchen to pop some popcorn and grab some beers while Eddie made a nest from the blanks and pillows. He did it whenever they were getting comfy, so Steve dragged down the softest blankets around the house.
When Steve returned to the living room, he could see the mop of curly dark hair barely visible above the mound of blankets. Once more, that bubbly, giggly feeling rose in his chest. He felt almost bouncing as he made his way over to his boyfriend, setting down the food before moving to turn on the TV. When the opening music rang through the house, Steve jumped on the other cushion, watching as Eddie screeched at his tower of softness that fell off of him and over onto Steve’s lap. Ignoring Eddie’s protests, Steve gathered some to wrap around himself, curling up so his head rested on the couch's arm, his feet tangling with Eddie’s - who was doing the same.
Steve settled in, letting every lousy thing he carried with him flow out with every giggle Eddie tried to hide, and every time he crowed to the screen, definitely not trying to silence those. Steve dozed, letting the lights and sound of the television wash over him with the warmth of Eddie’s legs pressed against his own. He felt Eddie stroking his ankle, the chill of his rings against his sleep-warmed skin making Steve kick a bit.
Finally, when the movie ended and the credits started to roll, Eddie rolled up to his feet. He left his hair in the crazy mess that it was, moving over to where Steve was still lying horizontal on the couch. Steve looked up at him through squinted eyes, barely able to see the curve of his lips in the dim lighting.
“Hey, let’s get you to bed,” Eddie told him, running his hands through his hair. Steve grumbled, wanting to stay in the warmth of the blankets, in Eddie’s heat. He must have told him that because Eddie’s smile faded, and a frown took his place. “Sorry, Stevie, I can’t tonight.”
Something cold rushed over him, goosebumps erupting all over his arms and the back of his neck. He pushed himself so he was sitting, dislodging Eddie’s hand. Eddie held his hand out for a second, debating where to set it, but just dropped it so it hung limply at his side. Steve smiled at him, letting his sleepy exterior hide the little tick in his heartbeat.
“That’s okay,” he whispered, not wanting to ruin their created atmosphere. “Just get home safe, okay?” Steve leaned forward, pecking him on the cheek.
Eddie’s expression smoothed out, the glint returning. “Of course, sweetheart.” He stood up, smacking a significant kiss against Steve’s hair with a mwah! Steve watched him stumble over to his shoes, jumping as he crammed them on his feet. He saluted Steve before falling through the door, out into the darkness and out of sight.
Steve sat there for another minute or two or ten. He only stood up when the air conditioner kicked on, chilling the air. He thought momentarily about curling back in the blankets and falling asleep on the couch. But it looked unappetizing in the moonlight without anyone to warm it up.
He flopped onto his bed, covers cool against his face, and he barely flipped up the blankets and got under them before the phone on his nightstand began to ring. Steve groaned, looking over to the clock.
“Who’s calling at 1 a.m.?” he grumbled, grabbing the phone and resisting the urge to yell at whoever was on the other end. “Hello?”
“Hey Stevie,” Eddie said, a smile apparent in his voice. Steve felt his shoulders relax; something cracked in his body smoothing at the sound of his voice. “Just wanted to let you know I got home okay.”
“Yeah,” Steve swallowed, “That’s good. Thanks.”
“And I had to say sorry about being unable to stay over,” Eddie continued. Steve fell, so he was on his back, cord stretching to lie comfortably.
“It’s fine-” he tried to say, but Eddie interrupted.
“It’s just that Uncle Wayne needs my help in the trailer in the morning, fixing up the shower and whatnot.”
“Oh,” Steve breathed. Whatever else that was displaced from Eddie’s disappearance was gone. “I understand.” He didn’t. He can’t remember the last time his dad asked for his help or the previous his mother wanted him home in the morning.
“Yeah, but I’ll see you soon - okay?” There was a thud and a curse. “Shit, I just slammed my elbow into the wall.”
Steve chuckled laughter loudly in such a silent room. “Of course you did.”
“Dick,” Eddie chuckled. “I’ll let you get some rest. Good night, Steve.”
“Good night, Eddie,” Steve said, and the phone went dead. Steve white-knuckled the handle, just looking up at the ceiling. He returned it on the receiver when the buzz grew too much and rolled over. Within moments, he was asleep.

Happy Halloween everyone, hope you like this GhostFace!Hoon fic that's been in my drafts since September🫶
“Wait!” your boyfriend exclaimed. “Check this out,” his hand slipped in the bag, pulling out a mask. “Cool costume, huh?” He smirked, fangs on full display as his eyebrows went up and down.
“Ghostface?” You frowned, a faint smile appearing on your face, “I thought you hated scary movies.”
“Well, I do…” He blushed, shrugging as he shoved the mask into the bag again. “But you love the Scream movies.” The boy leaned closer to whisper in your ear. “And I know about your dirty little fantasy.” His hand found a comfortable place on your waist as he pulled you closer to his figure. “So I thought we could play a little before I wear it at Jake's Halloween party~”
Your boyfriend was open to a lot when it came to sex. You both tried a lot of things and found out that you both were into roleplay, so he thought that it would be fun to cosplay as the villain of one of your favourite sagas.
“Wanna play psycho killer?” you teased him, earning an eager nod from the taller boy. “Can I be the helpless victim?”
“Fuck yeah, I'd love that so much, kitten.” He leaned down, crashing his lips against yours as you giggled against his mouth before kissing him back. After a few minutes, you pulled away, the boy's lips following yours as he tried to kiss you again.
“Stop~ we need to go baby, we promised Jay that we'd help him to move out.” You said, earning a sigh from your boyfriend as he pulled away from your embrace. He begrudgingly left the bag with the costume on the couch before he made his way back to you, wrapping his arm around your waist.
“Let's go baby girl… At this point, he should pay us for helping him.” He said, walking towards the door as you followed his steps, laughing at your boyfriend sulking before you headed to Jay's apartment.
Five days have passed since Sunghoon got his costume for Halloween. The real reason behind getting that costume was actually revenge. Last year, on Halloween night, you decided to scare him, dressing up as a ghost. It was an innocent scare but he was such a scaredy cat that he actually got mad at you for a few hours until you showered him in hugs and kisses. In your defense, you didn't expect him to get so scared at your little prank. Now, it was time for payback and he had the perfect idea.
It was late at night, your boyfriend was at your friend's house playing video games or at least, that's what you thought. You were in the kitchen, making some popcorn as you got ready to watch a movie. Standing on your tiptoes, you grabbed a glass from the cupboard, setting it on the counter. You walked towards the fridge, grabbing the bottle of soda before you went back to your previous spot, opening the cap and pouring the dark bubbly liquid into the glass. You closed the lid again, ready to take it back to its place until your phone caught your attention. The screen went completely white, the letters spelling your boyfriend's name as it slightly moved on the counter due to its vibration.
You smiled, your hands left the bottle, instantly reaching your phone as you picked it up. “Hey, how's it going?” you talked, waiting for his answer but it never came, you could only hear someone's breathing for a few seconds. “Sunghoon, come on.” You rolled your eyes, the person at the other side of the phone kept breathing. “Answer me or I'll hang up.”
“Do not hang up the phone or you'll pay for it.” A deep and strange voice talked back, making you frown. “Now tell me, pretty girl, what's your favourite scary movie?” You pulled the phone away from your ear, checking the name on the screen again to make sure that it was your boyfriend. Completely dumbfounded, you took the phone back to your ear before you spoke.
“Who is this?” you asked, clearly confused about the situation but you were getting slightly scared as you felt someone watching you, the same feeling that you've been having since Sunghoon left the house.
“Just someone,” the voice replied, “tell me, do you have a boyfriend? You look too pretty to be single.” That phrase sent shivers down your spine. “Especially in that oversized black shirt, I like the butterfly on it.” You gulped, looking down at your shirt as you started to wonder how they knew.
“Listen, creep, leave my boyfriend's phone right now and stop fucking talking to me.” You said angrily before hanging up. You quickly pocketed your phone and took the bottle back to the fridge. You grabbed the popcorn and the glass, making your way towards the living room and setting everything on the coffee table as you sat on the couch. You reached the remote, turned on the TV and looked for a good movie as you tried to forget about the call, thinking that it was just probably one of the boys messing with you.
You took your phone out of your pocket, looking for the movie list that you saved before you got another call from your boyfriend.
“Listen, if you're not Sunghoon, don't fucking bother me.” You angrily said as soon as you picked up.
“Baby? Just wanted to check up on you,” he said, little did you know that he was trying to hold his laugh as he felt proud that his prank was working. Your boyfriend was a good actor. He knew that you wouldn't buy it if he didn't actually speak to you. “Everything okay, my love?”
“Y-yeah, just… did the boys take your phone by any chance?” You asked, starting to get actually worried about the call. If he had his phone, then why did you see his name on the screen when the creep called?
“Nope, it's been inside my pocket since I came here,” his words felt like a bucket of cold water falling on your back, sending shivers to your spine as you gulped. “Why are you asking, baby?”
“I-i-” you nervously stuttered, “nothing, must've been a glitch and a prankster…” Sunghoon smirked, noticing the fear in your voice as you tried to convince yourself. In fact, he never left the apartment, he was in the house, hiding in your shared bathroom. He knew you wouldn't check there since he told you that the door handle was broken and the locksmith was unavailable until Monday, which was obviously a lie.
“Are you sure, angel?” he inquired, checking himself on the mirror as he fixed the black robe of his costume, getting ready for the show.
“Yeah, hope you have fun with the boys! Bye my love.” You said, hearing a goodbye from him before you hung up. You took a deep breath, trying to forget the creep's voice talking about your current outfit. You tried to focus on picking a movie until you heard a noise coming from your bedroom. At first, you thought that it was your cat but she was peacefully sleeping on her bed, right under the TV.
Sunghoon licked his lips excitedly, ready for his little prank as he put the mask on. “It's showtime,” he said, turning on the voice modulator before he called you again.
“Do you miss me that much?” you teased him, ready to hear a yes when you heard something that you really didn't want to hear anymore.
“Aw, I thought you were the one who missed me,” the strange voice again. “I could probably visit you now since you're alone…” He opened the door, kicking it on purpose so you could hear the loud noise. The loud thud makes you get up from the couch.
“What the fuck do you want?” You asked, looking towards your bedroom before you looked at the kitchen.
“I just wanted to visit you~ I'm pretty sure you heard me.” He walked down the hall, crouching as he sneaked into the kitchen, watching your moves carefully as you made your way there. If there was someone in your house, you were going to show them that you weren't a damsel in distress. He was on the opposite side, hiding behind the island. He shut up, letting you hear his breathing as you opened a drawer, pulling out a knife.
“Where the fuck are you? Come out if you're that brave, fucking asshole.” You threatened as Sunghoon sneaked around the kitchen island, he took a glimpse of you, smiling at himself when he saw that you were looking at the other side. You took a step forward and he took his opportunity, getting up and standing behind you. “Where the fuck-” you couldn't finish the sentence as you felt a strong arm around your waist and a hand on your wrist, squeezing it and making you drop the knife on the counter. “Let me go!” You hit the masked man with your free hand, accidentally breaking his voice modulator as you squirmed, trying to escape from him.
“Hey- hey!” you recognized that voice, that voice that made you writhe and melt. You instantly stopped moving, recognizing his natural smell with a hint of his expensive perfume. You looked at your side, his veiny hand and slender elegant fingers along with his pretty nails, it was all familiar. “It's just me, okay?” He made you turn around, keeping his arm around your waist as his other hand pulled the mask up, letting you see his face.
“Sunghoon?” You asked, blinking a few times before you frowned, hitting his chest and shoulder. “You're an idiot, what if there was an actual creep or killer here?” You spat angrily, making him smirk.
“Did my baby girl get scared over a villain that she doesn't find scary?” He teased, making you pout.
“You know it's not the same in real life,” you said, hitting his chest once again before you sighed.
“I'm sorry my love, I just wanted some revenge for your little joke from last year.” He explained, leaning closer to press a soft kiss on your cheek.
“You're such an idiot,” you hit his biceps, making him laugh as he guided you backwards, caging you between his tall frame and the counter.
“I'm sorry angel, let me make it up to you,” he leaned forward, pressing a peck to your lips. “Let me fulfill your dirty fantasy~” he cooed, lips brushing against yours before he crashed them against yours in a passionate and steamy kiss.
You kissed him back, settling your hands on his strong chest as he pressed you against the counter, his member growing in his pants as he started grinding against you. His tongue poking at your bottom lip, quietly asking you for permission. You parted your lips, letting him slide his tongue in your mouth as your tongue found his, dancing together in a perfect rhythm.
After a good makeout session, you felt your pussy dripping with arousal as his cock was now completely hard. He bit down on your lip, tugging on it gently before he pulled away, panting as you both tried to catch your breath.
“Here's what we'll do, you're gonna go to our bedroom and wait for me,” he mumbled, his lips brushing against yours with every word.
“What if I don't want to?” You asked, smirking at him as you watched his Adam's apple going up and down. Sunghoon's hand leaving your waist as he reached the knife behind you, placing the sharp and cold blade against your neck. “Please don't kill me, Mr GhostFace~" You pout at him, “if I let you fuck my tight pussy, will you let me live, please?”
His other hand went up, tugging on the mask to pull it down again, covering his face. “I'll let you live tonight… I must warn you, I like to be rough with pretty girls like you.” He says, tilting his head. “But don't worry princess, daddy will take good care of you~” he bit his lip under the mask, the hand that gripped your waist went up to your face, three of his long digits tapping your bottom lip, you knew what he wanted. You parted your lips for him, gaze fixed on his mask as he shoved his fingers in your mouth. You quickly started sucking on them, moving your tongue around his fingers and making sure that they were covered in your spit.
Sunghoon pushed his fingers deeper into your mouth, making you choke on them as your eyes got teary. A beautiful sight if you asked him. You kept sucking on them, leaving them all nice and wet before he pulled them out of your mouth. The sharp blade left your neck as he dragged the point of the knife down your body until he reached your crotch. The boy pulled your shirt up, admiring the cute panties that you wore as he chuckled.
“Nothing but this?” he snickered, his free hand going down as well before he slid his pinky under the fabric, pulling it away from your cunt. “We don't need it~” he said, sliding the knife between the fabric and your skin. The dull part making contact with your soft skin made you whimper from its coldness before he cut the panties, repeating the same action at the other side of your underwear letting it fall on the kitchen floor.
His fingers traveled to your pussy, playing with your wet folds teasingly and making you moan. His index and middle finger circling your clit slowly as the blade went back to your throat. After a few minutes, he pushed one of his digits inside you, starting to thrust into you at a slow pace.
“F-fuck, feels so good daddy!” you moaned as Sunghoon slowed down, adding a second finger, making you clench around his digits. It doesn't matter how many times he fucked you with his fingers and his thick cock, he always prepped you, except when you acted like a brat.
“I wonder how you'll take my cock if you're already clenching like this, slut,” he teased you, shoving a third finger inside you as his pace got faster and rougher. His fingers hit your sweet spot as his thumb rubbed your clit. You moaned louder as you threw your head back, already feeling your orgasm approaching. Sunghoon knew your body, the way your legs trembled while your eyes rolled back, along with the way that your moans suddenly turned into whimpers, he knew that you were close.
He grinned under his mask, pulling his fingers out of you and earning a loud whine from you before you complained. “No, no, please, let me cum,” you begged but he only pressed the sharp blade against your throat again, making you shut up.
“You're not cumming yet,” he said, grabbing a fistful of your hair as he pushed you down to kneel on the floor, keeping the blade on your neck. “Make me cum, whore.” He ordered, opening his robe and letting you see his boxers. You licked your lips as you saw the outline of his big dick hard as a rock, a stain of precum on the fabric of his boxers, making your mouth water.
Your boyfriend tugged on your hair, pushing your face against his crotch until your face was touching the fabric, your cheek hitting the cold and sticky wet patch on his underwear as his cock twitched. He let out a groan as he felt your lips kissing his clothed shaft. You gulped, pulling away from him, shaky small hands tugging on the hem of his underwear as you pulled it down, freeing his dick.
His eyes fixed on you as he watched you through the mask. You spat on his cock, wrapping your fingers around his shaft to spread it before pumping his dick just the way he liked it. You kissed his tip, licking it teasingly and moaning at the taste of his precum before you started sucking on his tip. Your boyfriend let out a groan as he pressed the blade on your neck.
“Stop fucking teasing,” he deadpanned, you felt your pussy getting wetter at his harsh tone. You obliged, taking him deeper into your mouth, trying your best not to choke as you bobbed your head up and down. The boy threw his head back, enjoying the warmth of your mouth and how it felt around his cock as you sucked him off.
Your head going up and down faster as the boy moaned your name over and over again, thrusting into your mouth sometimes and making you choke on his cock. Tears running down your face as he starts fucking your mouth, his tip hitting the back of your throat with every thrust. His hand pulling your hair as he gets closer to his orgasm.
After a few more thrusts he groaned, pushing your head closer to his body as he came down your throat. You tried to swallow as much as you could as you kept sucking him off through his orgasm.
“Fuck, good girl~” he groaned, his voice deeper than before as he saw his cum dripping down your chin. “Pretty girls are always the messiest~” he shook his head as you pulled away from his cock, looking up at him innocently. His hand released your hair, brushing against your jawline until it reached your chin. He gathered the cum on his fingers, smearing it all over your cheeks and mouth. “So fucking pretty~” He whispered as you got up again.
“Mr Ghost Face~” you pouted, tugging on his robe as you gave him your best puppy eyes. “Can you please fuck me?” You asked him, earning a chuckle from him as he pushed you against the counter, putting the knife against your throat again, leaning closer until your face was an inch away from his.
“Is that why you sucked me off? Just because you want me to fuck you?” He snickered, shaking his head. “You're nothing but a cockslut, aren't you?”
“Yes,” you answered to his question, eagerly nodding. “I'm your cockslut, only yours, daddy.”
Sunghoon bit down on his lip, leaving the knife on the marble counter. He placed his hands on your hips, turning you around quickly and bending you over the counter, making you whine. His cock already hard as he took one of his hands down, grabbing the base of his cock as he pushed his tip inside your hole. You moaned at the stretch, trying to roll your hips back but he tightened his grasp on your hips, keeping you in place.
“Stay still or I won't let you cum.” He threatened, earning a nod from you. He smirked at your reaction, pushing the rest of his length inside you before he started thrusting in a slow pace to let you get used to his size. “Fuck, your pussy is so tight, kitten.”
You let out a moan, enjoying the way his big cock stretched you out so well. After a few thrusts, the pain was replaced by pleasure. “Faster please,” you begged him. Sunghoon obliged, picking up his pace as he grabbed your shirt, tugging on it. The kitchen was now filled with the lewd sounds that fell from your mouth and his, along with the clapping sound of his hips against your ass.
You clenched your walls around his dick, hearing him groan under the mask as he kept his pace, his dick twitching inside you.
“Fuck, I'm not gonna last too long if you keep clenching like that, bitch,” he groaned, thrusting deeper and harder into you. One of his hands moving down to your core, his thumb rubbing your clit in circular motions, making you whine as you felt your orgasm getting closer.
“Fuck, wanna cum!” You exclaimed, feeling your body trembling. “P-please let me cum! I've been so good, please!” You begged him. The boy hovered over your body before he whispered in your ear, “cum for me, slut.” As soon as he pronounced those words, you came around his cock, clenching around him as he kept pounding. Tears rolling down your face from the overstimulation.
“I'm almost there baby, just a bit more,” he kept pounding, his thrusts getting sloppier as he was reaching his high. “Fuck-” he cursed, painting your walls white as he came, emptying his balls inside you and filling you up to the brim as he slowly thrusted. Sunghoon pants, pulling out of you as he moved the mask up, kneeling on the floor before he bit down on his lip. “Holy fuck, look at that pretty pussy~” He smirked, watching his cum oozing out of your cunt.
He placed his hands on the back of your thighs, burying his face into your cunt, lapping at your folds and swallowing the mix of your arousal and his cum. You shivered from the overstimulation as your boyfriend ate you out like a starved man. He shoved his tongue into your hole, cleaning the last drop of cum and swallowing it as he moaned against your core. He got up, licking his lips as he watched your trembling legs, pulling the mask down again to cover his face.
“Already shivering, baby?” He laughed, placing his hands on your waist as he made you turn around, amazed by the image in front of him. Your face was covered in tears and cum but in his eyes you looked beautiful. You wrapped your arms around his neck, his hands went down, stopping at the back of your thighs so he could pick you up.
“That felt so good, Hoonie,” You whispered, staring at the mask in front of you. He smirked under the mask before talking. “Well, you see, kitten…” he made his way towards the bedroom, “I'm not done with you yet.” Once you were inside your shared bedroom, he put you down on your back on the soft mattress, hovering over you.
Your boyfriend ground against your core, his soft dick rubbing between your folds, making you wetter with every move as he started to get hard again. His tip nudged against your clit, making you moan as he tugged on your wrists, pinning them above your head with just one hand.
“You're gonna be a good girl and keep your hands there, am I clear?” He orders, earning a nod from you. “Use your words.” He said in a harsh tone as he sat on his knees, taking off the costume robe. He placed his hand on your hips, aligning his tip with your entrance with his other hand. “Use your fucking words.” He ordered.
“Y-yes daddy! I'll keep them there.” You mumbled with a nod. He smirked, pushing his cock inside you until he was bottoming out. “Good girl,” he whispered before thrusting into you. His thrusts were sharp and hard as he started at a slow pace just to tease you. He looked at you, your pretty face was a mess, lips parted as you moaned his name. Your boyfriend picked up his pace, groaning as your moans got louder.
After a few minutes, he moved his hands to your legs, pulling them up as your ankles rested on his shoulders. His thrusts got deeper as you rolled your eyes back at the new angle, feeling his tip kissing your cervix. His hand traveled down to your clit as he started rubbing it, making you cry as you suddenly creamed his cock without warning. Your walls clenching around his shaft as you came hard. He hovered over you as he kept pounding into you, making you whine from the overstimulation.
“Such a beautiful whore~” he said with a groan. “Listen, since you've been so good, you're allowed to touch me~” In your fucked out state, you wrapped your arms around his waist, hands resting on his strong back before you dug your nails into his skin. He moaned at the sting, rolling his hips against yours.
Sunghoon slowed down a bit, his thrusts were deep and sharp, as he watched you trying to roll your hips to fuck yourself on his cock. He gave a hard thrust to make you stop before he picked up his pace again.
“Are you close, baby?” He asked, earning a whine from you that he took as a yes, knowing that you couldn't even speak from how good he made you feel, but he also knew you were close from how you clenched at his words. “Cum with daddy then~” his thrusts getting sloppier as he approached his own high. However, he kept his pace and after a few deep thrusts, he was cumming inside you again. The warm feeling of his cum painting your walls white triggered your own orgasm as you creamed his cock. A white ring of cum appeared on the base of his cock as he kept pounding through your orgasms, your nails leaving more scratches on his back as your walls milked him dry.
Tears of pleasure rolled down your face as you tried to catch your breath. Your boyfriend took his hand up, pulling off the mask and throwing it on the floor before he took his hands to your legs, wrapping them around his waist before his body flopped on top of yours without pulling out. He kissed your cheeks softly, kissing your tears away as he rubbed your waist gently.
“My good girl~ you took me so well, baby,” he whispered against your lips before kissing you softly. “I'm so proud of you, my angel.” You smiled at his words, shutting your eyes.
“Thanks daddy~ it felt so good.” You weakly mumbled, “but I'm really tired now.” You pouted at him, earning another kiss on your lips.
“Let me run us a bath so we can go to sleep later, okay?” He tried to get up but you hugged him tighter. “Baby~ come on, we need to get cleaned up.” He tried to convince you but you shook your head, opening your eyes to look at him with your best puppy eyes.
“Can we stay here for a bit?” You asked softly, “Just want to rest in your arms now, I don't care if I'm feeling sticky.” Your hands moved from his back to his face, cupping his cheeks as you pulled him into a kiss. “Please, Hoonie,” you mumbled between kisses. The boy didn't say anything, he just kissed you back as you felt his body weight fall on you again.
Once you pulled away, he talked. “Is it just me or that was the best sex we've ever had?” He grinned at you, making you blush as you nodded. “Guess it was a very good idea to get that costume~” He teased, making you giggle as you hit his bicep playfully.
“Oh shut up, you perv,” you rolled your eyes playfully as you both laughed before he crashed his lips against yours, kissing you softly as you melted into each other's arms.

Long Live lyrics
I said remember this moment
In the back of my mind
The time we stood with our shaking hands
The crowds in stands went wild
We were the kings and the queens
And they read off our names
The night you danced like you knew
Our lives would never be the same
You held your head like a hero
On a history book page
It was the end of a decade
But the start of an age
Long live the walls we crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
One day, we will be remembered
I said remember this feeling
I pass the pictures around
Of all the years that we stood there
On the side-lines wishing for right now
We are the kings and the queens
You traded your baseball cap for a crown
When they gave us our trophies
And we held them up for our town
And the cynics were outraged
Screaming, "This is absurd!"
'Cause for a moment a band of thieves
In ripped-up jeans got to rule the world
Long live the walls we crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
I'm not afraid
Long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
I was screaming long live that look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders
One day, we will be remembered
Hold on to spinning around
Confetti falls to the ground
May these memories break our fall
Will you take a moment
Promise me this
That you'll stand by me forever
But if God forbid fate should step in
And force us into a goodbye
If you have children some day
When they point to the pictures
Please tell them my name
Tell them how the crowds went wild
Tell them how I hope they shine
Long live the walls we crashed through
I had the time of my life, with you
Long, long live the walls we crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
And I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
I'm not afraid
Singing, long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
And long, long live that look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders
One day, we will be remembered

Better Than Revenge lyrics
"Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did."
Time for a little revenge
The story starts when it was hot and it was summer and
I had it all, I had him right there where I wanted him
She came along, got him alone and let's hear the applause
She took him faster than you could say "sabotage"
I never saw it coming, wouldn't have suspected it
I underestimated just who I was dealing with
She had to know the pain was beating on me like a drum
She underestimated just who she was stealing from
She's not a saint
And she's not what you think
She's an actress
She's better known
For the things that she does on the mattress
Soon she's gonna find
Stealing other people's toys
On the playground won't make you many friends
She should keep in mind
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge
She looks at life like it's a party and she's on the list
She looks at me like I'm a trend and she's so over it
I think her ever-present frown is a little troubling
She thinks I'm psycho 'cause I like to rhyme her name with things
But sophistication isn't what you wear or who you know
Or pushing people down to get you where you wanna go
They wouldn't teach you that in prep school so it's up to me
But no amount of vintage dresses gives you dignity
(Think about what you did)
She's not a saint
And she's not what you think
She's an actress
She's better known
For the things that she does
On the mattress
Soon she's gonna find
Stealing other people's toys
On the playground won't make you many friends
She should keep in mind
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge
I'm just another thing for you to roll your eyes at, honey
You might have him but haven't you heard
I'm just another thing for you to roll your eyes at, honey
You might have him but I always get the last word
She's not a saint
And she's not what you think
She's an actress
(She deserve it)
She's better known
For the things that she does on the mattress
Soon she's gonna find
Stealing other people's toys
On the playground won't make you many friends
She should keep in mind
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge
Do you still feel like you know what you're doing?
'Cause I don't think you do
(No, no, no, no)
Do you still feel like you know what you're doing?
I don't think you do
I don't think you do
Let's hear the applause
(Come on, come on)
Come on show me how much better you are
(So much better, yeah?)
So you deserve some applause 'cause you're so much better
She took him faster than you could say "sabotage"
The question is which song is queerer to you! Queerer can mean whatever you want it to mean; you might consider a song queer because you think it was written that way, or because of Swiftian lore. It might be queer to you because of how you relate it to your own life. Maybe you think from a purely literary standpoint the lyrics have queer themes; maybe you're just thinking about vibes!!!
If you’d like to send in interpretations or propaganda for a specific song you can send them to my inbox! All interpretations are welcome and let’s be open and kind in response to all interpretations <3

Gojo Satoru was one persistent man, you gotta give him that. When he said your wish is his command, he delivered, so you don't really have any excuses to further refuse him. He took your opinion on the contract seriously, passed it by you without fail and exceeded expectations. You had the choice to stop whatever madness the two of you were cooking up, so you had that as a buffer to see how things go.
It's a very different situation for the both of you. Neither of you had been in bed with the same person twice. You thought that was convenient, spares you from that awkward phase of having to deal with the messy things that come along with commitment. But regardless of how much you and Satoru reiterate on the point of having no strings attached, it was still a form of commitment. You didn't know yet whether you liked the nature of that bond regardless if it was limited to the physical aspect.
But it was convenient. You could admit at least that. If it's just sex, then you wouldn't have to go through the motions of meeting people, getting to know them enough to say they're not psychos and establishing that mutual agreement of never seeing each other again. Satoru was familiar ground for once, and you more or less knew what to expect from him with the security of a written agreement adding to your supposed security.
Now it was a game of waiting to see who is gonna crack first, but that's a problem for future you. It's arrogant to think that there are no consequences to what you are about to involve yourself in because there will be, and you knew neither of you are stupid as to deny that. Accepting that fact is the first step. You'll deal with the mess later.
Or maybe you two were really stupid to be considering it at all. Either way, you didn't really care about the intricacies of it as much as you were annoyed over the fact that Satoru was taking away what you wanted to be a peaceful afternoon. Tolerance sure wasn't his strongest suit as expected of a rich brat who didn't know how it feels to be denied and done have the slightest understanding of the word no.
"You're gonna make me neighbors think I got into a tangle with loan sharks, Gojo," you said the moment you opened the door for him, unable to help it but ogle him. He was clad in gray sweats, a black shirt that fit him so damn well, his platinum hair mussed under a white, Balenciaga baseball cap.
He looked at you from under his cap, those gloriously blue eyes twinkling as he broke into a grin. "Well, you do owe me kisses, sweetheart."
Rolling your eyes, you cocked your head to the side, inviting him in, prompting his next comment: "I see how you're related to Sukuna when you move like that."
You chuckled. "I know how you think he was raised by brigands." You looked over your shoulder with a smirk. "You can opt out of our arrangement now."
Satoru caught up to you, blocking your way to the living room. He bent down to your height, booping you on the nose with his index finger. "Is that a roundabout way of saying you want out? You haven't even signed yet." He waved the file he was holding in front of you. "Ammended and reviewed as you've requested."
You took it, pushing past him and plopping down on the couch. You patted the space next to you as you opened the file, startled when he jumped right onto the spot, also making you bounce on the plush seat.
You momentarily glared at him but he just scooted closer, pointing at the sheaf of papers. "The things you wanted added are highlighted in yellow."
You quietly read the things he indicated, rifling through pages with your eyes. All the while, you could feel Satoru's blue orbs on you, his fingers toying with the tips of your hair. From your periphery, you could see him breaking into a soft smile, so different from his cocky, mischief-filled cheshire grins. Your planned glance turned into a sidelong stare as you whipped your head to actually look at him.
To your dismay, his expression was replaced by surprise, making that smile disappear as if it hadn't even been there in the first place.
"What?"
You shook your head, thinking you probably just imagined it. "Where do I sign?"
You made quick work of that after Satoru indicated where you were to sign, handing him the pen and also watching him do the same.
"And that's a done deal!" he declared, slapping the pen on the coffee table before twisting on his waist to look at you. "Congratulations, I'm exclusively yours."
"Thanks for saying my line for me." You shrugged, feeling the awkwardness of the situation now that your "giggle fits" about the whole contract, as Satoru had termed it, had died down. "So..."
"May I kiss you now?" he interrupted your thoughts, invading your space as he leaned forward, his eyes shifting slowly from your eyes and your lips.
You didn't fail to notice how he emphasized on asking for your permission this time instead of asking whether he was capable of it. "If you're always gonna choose your words like this..." You knocked his cap off his head with one hand while the other glided up from his shoulder to his nape. You pulled him closer, your lips just millimeters from his. "...instead of being such a tactless bastard all the time, I might actually enjoy this more."
He looked at you with hooded eyes. He wasn't one to be distracted from his goals. "So, may I, sweet cheeks?"
"Yes, you mmph –"
Satoru's plush lips were on yours in a split second, pressing gently yet the fact that he was holding back was evident in the way he gripped onto your waist as if he was trying to tether himself to you. He moved his lips against yours in languid motions as if he was testing the waters. You let him although you wondered at that knowing how hungry and all-consuming his kisses can be from experience.
You didn't dislike it, even the way he would pull away in the smallest fractions to nip at your lips before he would give them tiny kitten licks. It was enticing watching him take his time, making you reciprocate in the same small actions but mostly letting him have at it. Satoru's large hands moved from where he was keeping you steady on your arms up to the sides of your neck, his thumb brushing against your jawline.
Just then, he wrenched his eyes from intently paying attention to your lips to meet yours, blinking slowly and absently licking his lips. Satoru looked at you as if he couldn't believe you were in front of him, again breaking into that genuine smile.
"You're so pretty, sweet cheeks," he mumbled, looking absolutely out of it.
You were tempted to snort at his compliment but at the same time, you couldn't, unable to extricate yourself from the moment. This was a new side to him you're seeing for the first time. "That's one kiss today, Gojo."
At that, the spell seemed to have broken as he placed his forehead on your shoulder, chuckling. "You're keeping count?" He blindly fished for something in his pocket before taking your hand in his and pressing something onto your palm.
Before you could look and ask what it was, his lips were on yours again, less experimental this time. He licked at the seam of your mouth, pushing his tongue into it and seeking yours. You gasped when he finally found it, groaning when you responded in kind. Your ears were ringing, your head filled with nothing but the way he tasted in your mouth and the way he was possessively holding you against his taut form while his fingers drew circles on the small of your back.
And just as you were getting used to him and what he was doing to you, he pulled away, your lips parting with a wet sound. You swallowed hard, startled by the sudden loss of contact, and quite frankly, pissed off as well.
He wrapped your fingers on the thing he put in your hand, realizing it was some sort of card. As if he read your mind, he said, "Your key to my private place in the city. I'll text you the address."
With one last peck to your lips which were slightly parted from being flustered, he stood up, putting on his cap. And then he turned to look at you. "Sorry, sweetheart. I have class in half an hour with Yaga." He grinned. "Don't look so disappointed now. I'll make it up to you tomorrow."
You scoffed, also standing up as you regained composure. "Who says I am?" You shook your head, catching sight of the contract on the table. "Take those with you. I don't need Yuki or Iori finding those here."
Satoru laughed, taking your hand and twining his fingers with yours before raising it to his lips and winking at you. "See you tomorrow."

THURSDAY'S CHILD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: ajax x reader, a bit of enid x reader if you squint
warnings: none, basically just fluff, a litte bit of ooc
a/n: first time writng for wedneday! this was mainly inspired by txt song and morticias poem!
Tumblr media
– a sister? you have a sister and you never told me? and she is coming to study here?
enid excitedly paced back and forth in the center of the room she shared with Wednesday who, unlike her roommate, was sitting on her bed packing a small bag.
– I saw no reason to share this and there was no period when it was useful to comment on this fact. besides, I had already spoken on the day of visitation
this made enid stop pacing the room for a few seconds, vaguely remembering seeing a girl in a school uniform with the wednesday family for a few seconds. she didn't remember her face well, only that it was very different from her wed.
– and what is she like? is she like you? and she's got a little hand like-hey, where are you going?
– I'm going to return some things. we used to play psycho killer, it will be a disappointment if she doesn't know if she turns around on her own. by this time, thursday must already be exploring.
and she was right. you had just left the principal's office after orientation about the school, your dorm and your class schedule.
y/n addams, aka thursday, and now the sister of wednesday addams as she would likely be known for the next few days, walked carefully through the school hallways.
right, left, stairs…which stairs? this school more complicated than her old one, as the headmistress wanted her to find out easily? she regretted not having asked her sister to come to her.
but what would be the fun in looking for her to try to scare her later then?
as she walked carefully with a small bag, she was the target of stares from some students passing by, confused by the new face they hadn't seen.
– hey, do you need any help? you seem to be quite confused where to go
turning, she looked at the boy who was talking to her: tall, blue cap with something that definitely wasn't hair threatening to come out. a friendly smile occupied his face.
"that must be the gargoyle boy that wednesday mentioned"
– if you don't tell wednesday addams about this, I would appreciate it if you would guide me to where the dorms are. from there i can go alone
this elicited a small expression of surprise, which lasted for a few seconds before returning to the small smile, from the boy who walked beside her.
– it's easy to get there, you were on the way. by the way, you're the new student, right? my name is ajax
– my name is y/n, but you can call me thursday, usually everyone calls me that
– like the poem? thursday has…
– far to go. exactly
walking side by side, a few short laughs were exchanged along with smiles during the short walk. a friendly conversation that, despite being the first, made people outside think they were longtime friends
– and her colleague is enid. you guys will probably get along, she gets along with pretty much everyone
– she's the werewolf, isn't she? I've heard quite a bit about her!
finally arriving in front of her dorm, you knocked on the door and, while waiting for your roommate to answer, ajax couldn't help but bring up a small topic. there was no need, she just felt it was better than just saying "bye" and going back to her chores.
– so what's your third class tomorrow?
– I think botanical sciences, I'm pretty sure of that
a small smile appeared on the boy's face.
– we are in the same class. do you want to have lunch together after class tomorrow? I can show you more from here
– would be coo-
you were interrupted by the dorm door opening, revealing yoko, divina and, surprisingly, enid, who cut the girl off, greeted her and led her into the room, leaving only you to give a thumbs up.
that made the teenager give a small laugh before walking back to his primordial path before anyone asked about his presence there.
really, thurday has far to go. and both of them were excited about that

You know, aside from Cap shocking Roy when he boarded the airship and Friede in a flashback, I feel we've mostly avoided having people get hit with Pokémon attacks here compared with Ash's series, and when it does happen, it's usually played pretty seriously.
Like, Liko and Amethio were in life threatening situations, with Liko almost getting struck by a stray Psycho Cut as she was jumping across rooftops, the fall could have badly injured or killed her. (Not to mention how close it passes by Friede's neck and face.) And if Ceruledge hadn't jumped in to block Sprigatito's mega-Leafage, Amethio would have been knocked off the airship while they were hundreds of feet in the air. (Granted, he has a flying-type, so he probably would have been able to save himself. Unless it managed to knock him unconscious.)
Then there's Spinel making direct attacks on the children, and special mention to the scene where Dot is hugging her (already damaged) Quaxly while Spinel's Magneton is preparing to fire off an Electro Ball, she's pretty defenseless.
(Some smaller moments too, like Zirc and Onia flying away when the troublemaker duo shows up, fearing they would get caught in the crossfire, or those workers Galarian Moltres drained.)
So, Diana might have been willing to really fuck Tepen up, telling Arcanine to burn him like she did. It's a little alarming. 😬

Meeting of Minds and Gunpowder. Pt. 2.
May 12th,
Word Count:  920
Part One
Goodnieghbor bloomed before the Ghoul. A mix of robots, ghouls, and smooth-skins. Compared to Diamond City, it was a true mixing pot of all sorts. However, one thing that pulled them all together in similarity - was the no good aura around them. Each and every person was scum, he could tell. Pickpockets, thieves, and scammers the lot of them. Even the spare raider could be spotted slinking in and out of doors in the back alleys. Dried blood splattered on the pavement underfoot, telling stories of mugging and knife fights long passed. A place of true degeneracy. It was about what the world had come too in a nutshell - a steaming pile of shit. As long as he got what he needed, the Ghoul could care less. He adjusted the hat on his head, stuffed his hands in his pockets, and strode deeper into the city. Another wretched bout of coughing wracked his lungs, his head tilting down on instinct as he shoved himself into an alley. He leaned against a wall for a moment, sweat beading down his forehead. He took a wheezing breath, sliding down till he was sitting, resting his aching head in his hands. His body was shaking, not out of any fear - but of need. The world blurred, spinning around and around twistingly.
"Hey… Guy. You feelin' alright?" A raspy voice sliced through the Ghouls' thoughts.
A man stood before him, he wore a brazen red coat - fashioned in a colonial style. Atop his head sat a tricorn hat, it looked to be old, worn, covered in dirt and old blood. The Ghoul swatted a hand lazily in his direction, voicelessly forfeiting the others assistance - yet the stranger still persisted.
"C'mon pal, just talk to me. What's the problem? Run 'outta Jet? Psycho? Buffout? Withdrawal can be a bitch, I've been there." His words sounded oddly sincere. This was no doubt going to cost him. It didn't really matter, if this dumbass stranger could get him in the same room as some Rads - he'd be all set from there.
It was a shame the strangers voice only worsened his aching head.
"I don't need no damn drugs. Not them kinda drugs, anyway." He growled out through grit teeth, the wave after wave of vertigo driving him near mad. His expression turned to a wince, and the stranger nodded in understanding. Wordlessly, he fumbled throughout the pouch attached to his waist. Inhalers and tablets shifted about as he dug through it, momentarily producing a small vial containing a yellow liquid.
"Here, friend." He extended his hand, the vial resting in his palm. The Ghoul wasted no time snatching up the precious vial, uncorking it with his teeth - he paused, looking up at the stranger. A fellow ghoul, it seemed.
"If this is piss, I'll fuckin' shoot your ass." He lifted the vial to the gaping hole in which his nose once rested, sniffing it. It at least didn't smell like piss. The stranger only snorted in response, but said nothing to his comment. The Ghoul lifted the vial to his chapped and broken lips, tilting his head back and slurping up the small amount of liquid greedily. Instant relief washed over him, and a sigh left his body. He relaxed, waiting for the rest of the symptoms to slowly subside.
"Feel better?" The stranger was leaning against the wall now, one ankle crossed over the other as the full of his weight rested on the building behind him. His arms were crossed, and he was watching the other man keenly.
"What do you want, exactly?" The Ghoul cut to the chase, he understood how the wasteland worked - nothing was truly for free. "Caps? Want me to kill someone for ya?" His tone was demeaning, taunting even. Guy looked like he was ripped out of a damn history book.
The stranger simply put his hands up in resignation, bowing his head ever so slightly, "I don't want a damn thing from you, friend, just a fellow forgotten and undermined man looking to help another get back on his feet." A smile appeared on his face, and the Ghoul realized it was worse than anything he could have thought. The man was an idealist.
Pushing himself away from the wall, the stranger took a few paces towards the Ghoul. He tensed in reaction, hand unconsciously feeling for his gun - but the other made no move to pull out a weapon. Instead, he reached out a hand towards the Ghoul, an offering of peace - and to help the fellow stand. The Ghoul's eyes narrowed, and he denied the help - pushing the other ghoul's hand out of his face, and getting to his feet on his own. They stood eye to eye now, rather than the stranger lording over him in a state of vulnerability. The Ghoul even took slight satisfaction of being taller than the other, tiling his head up ever so slightly. He took a moment to look the stranger up and down, fully taking in the revolutionary war garb he dawned. He made a vague gesture towards his clothing, curiosity overpowering anything else in that moment, "So uh… What's up with the getup… You some kinda… Weird reenactor? Thought thems all died out with the war n'all."
The stranger's smile didn't fade, he even let out a laugh, "Ahh, nah. Not really. Outfit just… Spoke to me is all. The name’s John Hancock, I'm the mayor here. I'd like to personally welcome you to my little slice of heaven, Goodneighbor."

☀ Come on, love ☀
*heading out to The Castle and en route shanks a molerat with a bayonet*
*takes psycho*
(You are addicted to chems)
(Hancock liked that)
(Hancock idolises you)
And here we are 💍
He watched her, running through the gentle rays of sunlight coming to their close for the evening. Close behind and deep eyes full of wander, Hancock's memories flood back to their days as The Silver Shroud, reminded of how gracefully her and Kent got along, and too how unrelenting she was in making sure Sinjin went down and Kent was saved. He smiled, a slight heat reaching his face- the butterflies of longing were a welcome feeling now.
After clearing mutants for their friends at The Slog, he opened his heart to Emily, just enough that if she felt as strongly as he did she could let him know. He could've guessed it, by the way she always glanced back, searching with pure care and concern if ever he were not behind her. Or, the soft moments of closeness, underlaid with unmistakable desire in each of their eyes. Gentle brushes of hands. Gaze falling to eachothers' lips. Too, the way she edged closer to him anytime a drifter wanted to sweep her away in The Third Rail, a subconscious act which warmed his heart- easing his anxiety that his feelings may be unrequited. So, before heading out to The Slog, he spoke to one of their closest friends- Magnolia. The beautiful singer was forever observant, and giggled at the thought of Hancock even questioning if his feelings for Emily were mutual. She had watched them together, seen the way they looked at each other, and adored the way their personalities and stories fit together like they were tied by a red string of fate. But, she knew how fragile and intimidating matters of the heart were, especially to the Mayor, so she reassured him without giving away all the things Emily had revealed to her about how much she liked him. Magnolia simply nudged him, kindly, that he should definitely take the leap of faith, and tell her truly how deeply he felt.
So, after they opened up on their return to the garden and friends of The Slog, talks of impure thoughts and lasting glances of passion and fantasies, there it began: a freefall of feelings into something so tangible, no longer just a dream both of them held in whispers in their own minds. It was perfect. But, as time went on, he knew his feelings were, for the first time in his life, serious. Not just flirtations, something fun to pass the time- for he could see just how unconditionally Emily cared for him, how she wanted him. She made it known to him how she loved his attitude. "Help those that need helping, hurt those that need hurting" was something she stood by as strongly as he did. It was a blessing to find someone who accepted her truly, who made her feel safe, who made her laugh, and who sparked a fire in her core more so than anybody she had crossed paths with before. He loved to tease her with his flirtatious remarks, but instead of receiving a harsh dismissal from her, she would blush and meet his eyes, challenging him with her own quiet firey nature. It was when inhibitions were gone with the wind, thanks to the various substances of the Commonwealth, Emily would let slip not just how much she really adored him- but how she longed for him. Talks of his eyes, the way his shoulders fit into his red coat, wanting to see more of his beautiful skin that peaked out of his shirt. He never acted on it whilst she was intoxicated, he would never take advantage, but he did cherish her comments. Thought about them at night, as his hands wandered down upon himself. It felt so real, not just their connection, but the feelings of adoration they both held. Hancock couldn't believe his luck in finding her, and little did he know, neither could Emily. There was no ulterior motive, caps or chems or status. She saw him for him, listened intently and empathetically to all he had to say- and Hancock fell even harder. He knew he had to do something more, make her his girl.
This time, he needed no reassurance. The passion and longing within him was too strong to ignore, stoked by the glimpses she gave him of feelings so far beyond a flirtation. He wanted to wait for a perfect moment, perhaps after they got to The Castle, he thought. Maybe when they next went back to The Slog, it had become a sacred place for them after all. However, after watching her launch her bayonet into a molerat, and taking her Psycho without second thought, watching as her body lurched with cares to the wind of the thought of addiction, knowing he wanted to watch out for her but also live a romance of being addicted to eachother- he realised he was thinking too much and just wanted to act. In reality, the words almost fell out of him involuntarily.
Instinctively.
Naturally.
Like it was meant to be...
"Hey, when you've got time" He began, "there's something I need you to hear"

Something I wish was like. Actually Covered in Dr. Stone that I think would have been super cool is like. linguistic differences.
Because like, okay. you have a mini society that's been living in complete isolation for over 3000 years, totally apart from everything else, and then you have characters like senkuu, gen, tsukasa, ukyo, hyoga etc. who are very much from 'our time', kept in stone for those 3000 years, retaining all memories and language from that era.
like. 3000 years is a SUPER long time. Even with the 100 Tales that got passed through the generations to Ruri, which I imagine would help in keeping the language the same for all that time, I'm surprised there's like. zero differences. that they're able to communicate seamlessly. that there is no variation, no slang, no new words, no thick accents, no nothing.
Like, as a real life example, Old English was used about 2000 years ago. And I bet most of you would have a Pretty Hard Time understanding it, and that's only from like 2/3 the amount of time that separates the Ishigami villagers and the other characters. it almost seems like another language.
I would have LOVED the first interaction between Kohaku and Senkuu to have been WILDLY confusing and surprising. Kohaku sees this random dude and attacks, and then he starts speaking this absolute gobbledygook that only sounds very very vaguely familiar and also sounds weirdly Proper. and then kohaku responds in confusion, and to senkuu she's speaking this weird weird language that is only barely recognisable and sounds super casual and fast. and they Can't Talk to each other, which makes the entire ordeal with getting the villagers to trust senkuu That Much Harder lmao. but finally, FINALLY when Senkuu is able to meet Ruri and she hears the way he talks is like hey wait a minute I Know This. and she tells him the 100 tales (still in the original language) that everyone else thought sounded like a series of weird incantations but senkuu is like Oh. Oh Okay also dad why did you put so many memes in this. (like in canon lmao) and just. the langauge barriers!!!!! I WISH THERE WAS A LANGUAGE BARRIER IN DR. STONE OKAY.
EDIT: some cool people showed me a really good fic and a more in-depth post on this concept!! I highly reccomend checking them out!

it's. it's about human connection and the loss of it, it's about not fitting in and rejoicing in that uniqueness, it's about longing for something, having it, and mourning the loss of it, it's about searching for that person everywhere, once they're gone you see them in everything its about the confusion and ambiguity and panic that comes with a realistic dream, it's about dreaming and the strangeness of dreaming, it's about being a little in love with your best friend, it's about the fragility of our bonds, it's about missing people, it's about love.

My #1 post of 2022
i get so emotional over non-human characters who are experiencing 'being human' and fundamentally are lonely and just want friends that all they'd ever want is friendship and company and that is the most important part of being human for them is to have friends..... god. GOD,, give me a moment here im. IM.
