One thing I love about the storytelling in Lost S2 is how much they keep you guessing about whether ""Henry"" is as meek and cringing as he appears to be, right up until the last episode. Michael Emerson does incredible face work, bug eyed, panicked, resigned, but there are these small hints of a manipulative heart constantly that makes you wonder where "Henry" sits between "cold calculating mastermind" and "chronic liar who would say anything to save his own skin but is really quite pathetic and desperate"

Anyways, when he walks out all cool and collected in the last episode of the season it's like "ohhhhhhh. Ohohohoho >:3"

summer love being warm and comforting with the looming dread of growing up and knowing that soon everything will change. bug is so full of love this season, and its because of this that she cant help but feel a sense of dread that comes with it. love is warm yet it burns, and things feel a bit hazy as she tries to hold onto trust and her loved ones as tightly as she can. shes turning seventeen and she hasnt quite figured out yet how to grow up and live for herself, not for others. theres a nostalgia she cant help but always feel, that will always be there, longing for something that has long since passed. shes happy, but melancholy is familiar and she doesnt know how to say goodbye to her yet

-> related i get so emo about varian repressing his trauma and like, outwardly it seems like he got over everything that happened to him with the blizzard/amber/prison/etc etc but really it was more relief that rapunzel forgave him and was able to free quirin so it felt like everything should be FINE and it would easy to just leave everything in the past so he tries and he thinks he’s getter better and doing well but he’s really getting so much worse and refuses to address or process any of the shit he went through until it all majorly comes crashing down a while later. there are these little signs in the way he behaves like he acts weirdly reckless sometimes and will put himself in bad situations, just starts to exhibit signs of what happened to him. iykyk u know we know. and it’s so hard for him to rationalize this and accept this bc his feelings are so complicated bc he would tell himself that he deserved to be treated that way or even liked it because he was so lonely and desperate for positive attention so there’s this shame and guilt aspect that makes it 10x harder to talk about and AUGHHHHHHH. i could write an essay. this is so important to me. everyone be nice to me about this

your thoughts on mike this season?

I really enjoy him this season. He doesn’t have a lot of screen time, but I understand it. The California crew are on the back burner right now. They’re trying to find eleven, and that’s it for right now. The other three plot lines are a lot more impactful and focused on for good reason. I think the California crew’s story is like the exhale of each episode. We’re able to laugh and take a break from the more threatening and serious moments. But I do think the crew will have bigger roles in the next volume, and things will get more riled up soon for them.

Because of this, we don’t see Mike as much. But he IS still there. During the first few episodes, I was a bit concerned. Episode one was fine, he reminded me a lot of season 1 Mike. Episode two was where things shifted. The tension between him, el, and Will was interesting to me. I was kind of worried they would keep him how he was at the start of season 3. But after thinking on it, I think Mike just doesn’t know how to deal with confrontation and stressful situations.

In the first two seasons, trauma was still fresh to him. His reactions were natural and fearsome. He went through a lot, we cannot deny that. I think the more seasons that go on, the more frustrated he’s becoming to even the smallest inconveniences. When trauma is dumped onto someone repeatedly like what was happening to Mike in season 1 and 2, it would make sense that they would lash out or seem selfish during less intense events. Such as the skating rink incident. I think Mike is trying to keep himself happy and carefree, and when he isn’t in control of that, he may react distastefully. He may not be aware of this in the moment, but we have seen that he regrets those moments, and does try to make an effort to fix it. When he’s talking to El in her room, he is making an effort to stop thinking of himself, and start thinking of el. To try and talk her through her feelings and possibly make her feel better.

This of course leads to the whole “I love you” situation, which is a whole other thing I could get into.

But this scene forward, Mike shifts again. He begins to put others before him again. He becomes sort of a protector towards El and Will. Mike really reminds me of how he was in s1 and 2 during this season. He is shown to be a leader, and is hell bent on saving El.

His relationship with Will is also wildly important this season. In s3, they seemed to have a severe falling out. Mike had his reasons, Will had his reasons, but Mike could have handled their disagreement better. Mike wasn’t really himself last season. I think he was trying to be someone he wasn’t. The cool boyfriend who is too old for kiddy games like D n’ D. The teen angst was REAL last season for him, and I think he was trying to distract himself from dealing with his trauma by drowning in love. And this effected multiple of his relationships that season.

But what’s Mike doing for the entirety of episode 1 of season 4? Panicking about the hellfire campaign! He seemed to have discarded the “cool boyfriend” persona he tried to play as from last season and engaged in activities he enjoys again. (Not saying he didn’t enjoy spending time with El! I just think some time to themselves is equally as important, and there wasn’t a balance there).

In a way, he matured by becoming immature again… if that makes sense. Indulging in fantasy games that he was “too grown up” for last season. Perhaps it’s even healing his inner child. A heavy childhood, at that. He just realized it too late after Will moved away.

That’s all that’s on my mind right now. This probably just sounds like me rambling and it’s incoherent, but I really did want to share my thoughts on Mike this season. I cant wait to see where he goes in volume 2. I’m excited! I think his role will play a bigger part real soon.

when it actually happens, how long do you think your first splatoon 3 video will be (as in video length)? i imagine it'll be a massive undertaking!!

i plan on recording my entire playthough of return of the mammalians, so a highlight reel of that is my first planned splatoon video. how long will be that be? no idea if youre referring to an analysis video?? i REALLY have no fucking idea... -when it will happen -what the topic will be -how long itll be etc etc we dont know ANYTHING so i cant make any guesses. for all i know it could be months before i can do some proper splatoon 3-exclusive post-launch analysis! Much of my channel revolves around translating japanese only materials and dispelling misconceptions (sometimes caused by the localization), pulling from sources that ive had years to collect, translate, and analyze. applying that to splatoon 3, sometimes it can take a while for these misconceptions to form, and things that can answer said misconceptions, like interviews and artbooks, can take several months to come out! ... plus i have to translate it as well. also im gonna be going to an intense language school in japan for the next 2 years, so i have no idea how much of a wrench thats gonna throw into my video making once we start getting s3 developer interviews and the third artbook then things are gonna get REALLY fun because all the good lore gets hidden in there. But before then, if theres aspects of the story mode that leave some questions, unless theres a past source to pull an answer from or the answer is in the jp version where the localization fucked up, everyone is gonna be pretty equally in the dark.

i have several video ideas ive been sitting on in hopes that splatoon 3 will clear some things up or add information, so ill likely get to those first while waiting for these fabled splatoon 3 dev interviews. or shit, if there is something in the story that is answered through past materials maybe ill talk about that. idk idk

tl;dr i think a lot of people are expecting that im gonna make some big arching splatoon 3 analysis soon after launch and im here to say: dont get your hopes up

I cant think how much stress Ej will be feeling throughout the s3. He was put on this huge responsibility without any preparation or warning. Like it would be little less hard if its only camp production but to think its gonna be on a streaming service and now he must somehow creat a flawless musical.(even ms jenn couldn't do that in s1) And to include insecuritie drama around Ricky (in middle of season) to this, I will be so surprised if he didn't have a full on breakout moment at some point. I just hope everything will work out for him in the end.

You actually sent me this after 3.02, but I was waiting until 3.03 aired b/c I think it's more relevant than ever. I just know my heart is going to break for EJ this season cuz of the immense amount of pressure he has to deal with as director (and now actor as well). He never asked to be the leader of this production, it just fell into his lap and now he has to deal with it. It's so sad because he starts off the episode as a very proud boyfriend who shows his girlfriend support, and wants to spend time with her, but as the episode progresses, the pressure just keeps rising. He doesn't get a lot of time alone because everyone's constantly barging in while he's trying to work. He wants the read through to be perfect, and he only has like 12 hours to make it happen. Yes, it seems very EJ 1.0 when he snaps at everyone, but it was also a lot of voices all at once. He didn't really get to have a lot of quiet time, and when he did, it had to be dedicated to working on the script. Just like Gabriella and Shane, I can see Gina starting to notice EJ's priorities shift a little, and that concerns her. But I also have no doubt she's probably going to call him out on it soon. Gabriella and Shane kept Troy and Mitchie in check during their summers, but also ultimately supported them as well. I could see the same thing happening in Portwell's case.

(Sidenote: I actually love the fact that Ricky was the first one in EJ's tent, wanting to go on this adventure with him LOL. The boy found a shrine in the woods and his first thought was to check it out with EJ. I'm genuinely loving Ricky this season. This is the most time he's ever actually spent with his friends (who's not Nini or Big Red.)

number 4 is none other than @heich0e i got pulled in by her haikyuu fics but i learned she's also crazy good at writing aot and has an aot longfic in the works so i read the few snippets of it that she posts and suddenly im at s3 in just 5 days🧎🏻‍♀️

fifth is shared by @sourstars bc if nikki jie was brilliant at weaving imagery throughout her multichapter fics, pandora is incredible at jampacking her metaphors into shorter pieces without losing any of the emotional impact

and also @chimielie bc i love the way lia writes reader and how lovesick the boys always are and she has such a unique writing style that i do not have the vocabulary to describe but i would bet that if you let me read one of her fics without showing me her url i would probably be able to tell it's her

@kentoangel roma's fics are always so full of love it is impossible to read her pieces and not be buzzing with serotonin in my veins by the end of it

@nakizumie cant wait to read her older works bc ive only read her newer ones and i just know all her stuff is gonna be so good i can feel it in my bones

@aominology has these really long bulleted fics and other long fics that ive been dying to read bc her drabbles are already have me clutching at my heart

I’ve been meaning to tell you how much I love how much you love magic. Err... that was confusing. What I mean is, you light up when you do magic, or even just talk about it. I’d really like to learn some spells from you. Maybe you could give me a lesson sometime?

If you don’t want to give me a magic lesson, that’s fine, but maybe we could still, you know, hang out? You know, like, just you and me? We could drink some hot brown morning potion and just, you know, talk.

First off, what a precious, awkward boy trying his absolute best. We love him. I think Rayla’s first instinct would be awkwardness, too — after all, this is pretty private, she’d want to make sure Callum’s okay with her looking at it / reading it — nor was Callum’s feelings for Claudia ever a secret to her. I think mostly she’d feel affection for him but always a twinge of sadness because he’d felt so bashful around Claudia at all and that things (as of S3) had ended so poorly for them. She saw Claudia break his heart in real time, after all. 

I think sadness / more bitterness on his behalf could come through if she reads the note Callum added below the letter, which reads

I wrote this letter to Claudia, but I wasn’t brave enough to give it to her. I pasted it into my sketchbook and forgot about it. Now... I’m glad I didn’t. I don’t feel the same way anymore. Maybe because Claudia’s not the same person I once knew.

I think Rayla is less jealous concerning Callum as she is protective — the look she gives Claudia in early 2x03, after all, after she’s seen Callum crying and still knows that Claudia’s motives aren’t entirely trustworthy.

So I think her main priority would be Callum’s comfort  making sure he’s okay if— she reads the letter, taking his mind off it if it’s getting him down / getting him out of his own head, making him laugh because at the end of the day, he did lose a friend and regardless of how Rayla feels about Claudia, that still sucks for him.

But I usually tend to err on the compassionate protectiveness > simple jealousy side anyway.

Another night, another party, another hookup.

It’s been like this since May. Since the day you left him. It has been three months since he’s seen your beautiful smile. It’s all his fault. He’s the one that can’t properly love. You gave everything to him and he threw it away.

Billy shook his head aggressively trying to get the thought of you out of his head. Most nights he finds himself getting drunk to the point of forgetting the look in your eyes the last day he saw you.

Billy downed another shot of Jack and threw his arm around the nearest girl that was more than willing to follow him up to an empty room.

I heard you're movin' back from out of town I heard you travelin' all these miles and miles Tryna get back to my love, but it's harder now Everything's different

“Did you hear (Y/n) will be back on Monday?” Lauren said to Stacy in a low voice in hopes no one would hear her. To Billy’s dismay he caught your name and he physically couldn’t stop himself from listening. He was leaning against his car in the mall parking lot smoking a cigarette while waiting on Max to finish doing whatever she was doing. Lauren and Stacy were only a few cars down making small talk before they went their separate ways.

“Yeah I heard she was coming back from her internship! Did you know she had the option to stay, but word has it she is coming back for Billy Hargrove! Can you believe it?” Stacy laughed. Billy pushed the smoke out of his lungs in shock. She was coming back for him? After what he said to her?

“Well yeah I can believe it! She is desperately in love with him! It’s sad honestly. Seeing her draping herself all over him. I heard that he dumped her ass though and that’s why she left. Sad.” Lauren shrugged making Stacy giggle. Billy threw his cigarette down angrily. Half the shit they were talking about was bullshit. Billy hates small towns like this because word gets out quick and then it all turns into bullshit.

Billy turned and threw open his car door and deflating into his seat while hitting his steering wheel. You shouldn’t be affecting him this much. It has been three months and he most definitely didn’t have feelings for you. So why were you always on his mind? Why were the color of your eyes always in his sight?

He turned his key in the ignition aggressively and pressed down on the gas speeding past Lauren and Stacy and past the town forgetting about Max entirely in the process. He needed to get you off his mind...

“I hate you! Get out! Just leave me the fuck alone (Y/n)!” He yelled abruptly. He was gripping his steering wheel much too tightly and he was looking forward refusing to look you in the eyes. You noticed his eyes were brimming with tears as yours were already falling. You didn’t understand and you wanted to hold him or shake him to try and grasp why he’s acting this way.

You told him you loved him. You hadn’t told him that yet because he hadn’t officially asked you to be his girlfriend. Yet he would always hold your hand and call you baby at the end of the day. And it was true. You did love him. Too much that you couldn’t contain it anymore. You loved the way he gave you that special smile that was only reserved for you. You loved the sound of his genuine laugh that you heard so rarely. You loved the shape of his birthmark right in the middle of his back, so small that not everyone would notice and you most definitely loved the way he cared even though he claims he doesn’t.

So when he pulled into your driveway and he kissed your cheek so tenderly you murmured it to him against his cheek not thinking twice about it. This made him freeze immediately and you feared you made a mistake.

You continued to look at Billy in shock at his confession. Hate is such a strong word and it made you flinch the moment it left his beautiful lips. He couldn’t possibly mean that right? Yeah he was upset when you told him you’d be leaving for the summer for your internship, but you didn’t think he’d be that upset by it.

You didn’t say anything as you slowly reached for the door handle hoping he would take it back, but he didn’t and your heart dropped like a stone on your stomach. You pushed the door open and closed it harshly before quickly walking into your house. You looked out your window watching as Billy beat his steering wheel before hitting his car in reverse and speeding down the road. You pressed your back against the door and slid down slowly as you stared blankly at the floor.

Billy was already four shots in the party he was at and the thoughts of you were well on their way out of Billy’s mind for the night as he eyed the crowd for yet another girl he could capture. Ever since you came back to town his thoughts were louder than ever. He hated feeling this way so he did what he did best. Drank away his feelings. Spotting his next target he started making his way over to her.

Suddenly his beer fell to the floor and he realized someone had bumped into him.

“Hey, fucking watch it-“ he exclaimed turning around.

“Oh my gosh I’m sorry-“ Billy gasped inaudibly hearing that voice. It couldn’t be. He turned fully and stumbled a bit getting a whiff of the perfume you always wore. Fuck. He cant do this right now.

You looked up to him in shock not expecting to see Billy so soon. He still looked so beautiful and your heart twitched seeing that head full of curls. You noticed he looked scared and you hated that you made him feel like that because you were the one that he went to for everything. He quickly stumbled away from you and out the door.

Billy gasped for fresh air as his heart dropped and stomach turned. He didn’t expect to see you so soon and he most definitely was not prepared for it. He wasn’t prepared to see those eyes or the curve of your nose. Your beauty struck him in the face and he immediately noticed that you got a trim on your hair and he hated that he noticed something so minute about you when he told himself he didn’t care for you.

He then suddenly realized at 12:43 in the morning, that he loved you too.

It had been a few days since you seen Billy at the party and you have to say, you were pretty shaken when you saw him. You knew you still loved him, but you thought maybe it would be a little better seeing him. As it turns out it made it that much harder and your feelings immediately came back stronger than ever. You sighed trying to will him away from your thoughts like you’d been doing all summer.

There was a soft knock on your door and without thinking much of it, you hopped of your kitchen counter and pulled open the door. You gasped seeing him.

“Billy..” You sighed before he spoke up.

“No, please before you say anything just let me say what I have to say, okay?” Billy said softly looking into your eyes. You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything so you just nodded.

“Look... I know what I said was... awful. Like really awful. But I hope you know that I lied when I said I hated you. I could never hate you. Like ever. And I’m going to be honest here, when you left I became a complete Jackass. I slept around a lot and drank a whole lot more. That’s not fair to you and I’m sorry. I was just trying to get through all of my thoughts and trying to push them away at the same time. But when I saw you the other day I couldn’t run from it anymore.” Billy breathes out pausing for a second. You look into his eyes hopeful before he inhales and continues.

“I am in love with you. And it scares the absolute shit out of me and obviously I didn’t know how to handle being loved back because I fucked this all up and I’m just sorry. I understand if you need time to think or just don’t want to see me. I just had to tell you.” He concluded looking to see your reaction.

“Oh, Billy...” You sighed sadly. You felt so many different things and you had no idea how to form the words. Instead you curled your fingers gently in his hair and pulled him close before pressing your lips to his. It was slow and sensual and it poured all the emotions you had been feeling throughout the past few months: longing, sadness, frustration, but most of all love. You smiled into the kiss at the realization that Billy Hargrove loves you. He’s in love with you.

“I love you Billy Hargrove.” You murmured against his lips like you had done months previous. Except this time Billy gave you that smile that was only for you.

“I love you more, Baby.”
