Review: This is a roughly canon compliant look at the end of season two into the summer as Blaine slowly integrates himself into the Hummel-Hudson fold. There are road trips, beach outings, backyard bbqs and one particularly poignant heart-to-heart which includes some of the most accurate Blaine dialogue I’ve ever read (you could hear the words come out of his mouth, see his gestures of resignation, feel his well-worn defeat!) I’ll admit it made me a little weepy and let’s be real: Burt POV outsells EVERY time.

Kurt got home late a lot these days.

He knew that Blaine had a hard time with it. He moved to New York largely to be closer to Kurt and now Kurt was too busy to really devote much time to him.

It wasn’t anybody’s fault. Kurt just had a heavy course load this semester, and paired with his Vogue internship and diner job, he hardly had a moment to himself, much less a moment to focus on Blaine. Many evenings were spent with Kurt coming home, deciding something simple for the two of them to eat, showering, and then passing out the moment his head hit the pillow.

Blaine tried to never complain about it, but Kurt could tell it bothered him.

Tonight was especially a let-down. Kurt came home from work and had discovered that their roommates would be out for the evening. Like, all their roommates. And normally, this was a fantastic thing seeing as they hardly found time to spend together with just the two of them. But just as luck would have it, Kurt was too exhausted to be able to take advantage of their personal time in any meaningful way.

“I’m sorry, Blaine, but I haven’t really had a moment to breathe in about twelve hours,” he explained apologetically, “I really just need some sleep.”

“Oh, yeah! Of course! I get it, yeah, get some rest, honey,” Blaine replied encouragingly, offering Kurt a chaste kiss of the cheek. He was trying to not let his disappointment show, and Kurt could appreciate that.

It wasn’t until that evening that Kurt really got to see the other end of Blaine’s thoughts.

He didn’t mean to listen in, not really. He really was prepared to pass out and be dead to the world until his alarm clock devastatingly went off the next morning.

But somewhere in between the haze between wakefulness and sleep, Blaine started to speak. Not to Kurt, or rather, not in a way that Kurt was ever supposed to hear it. He sat up in bed and sighed — Kurt felt the bed jostle even despite Blaine’s efforts to not disturb him.

“Sometimes I feel like you don’t really want me around,” Blaine muttered into the darkness, and yeah, Kurt was definitely not supposed to be hearing this. A warm hand ran through his hair gently, carding through in soft strokes. “Ever since I moved to New York, I dunno, I just feel like our relationship is�� different somehow.”

Kurt should’ve done something. He should’ve alerted Blaine that he was awake, because these thoughts that Blaine was sharing were something personal and private.

Against his remarkably better judgment, Kurt didn’t move.

“I think a lot of it is probably my fault,” he confessed to who he believed to be no one. “I know you say that you forgive me, and I do believe you. But I feel like some part of you still holds it against me. Not that I blame you.” Kurt heard Blaine sniffle and wondered if he was crying. Then, the hand in his hair moved as Blaine grazed his thumb along Kurt’s cheek. It was a sweet, loving gesture, but it took a bit for Kurt to not react to it in a way that would reveal he was not actually asleep.

“I should probably tell you all these things when you’re actually awake, huh? I’m just scared, I guess. I don’t know if it’s obvious yet, but I’m not really that great at this whole relationship thing. I feel like when we first met, I always knew exactly what you needed. Now, I’m not so sure.” Blaine took a breath and finally pulled his hand away.

“I think… I think I just need you to need me,” Blaine eventually admitted, and even the way Blaine spoke felt weighted. “It’s selfish as hell, I know, but I liked feeling like you needed me. You were so scared and alone and needed someone to protect you and I loved being that person for you. But now you don’t, and… and I’m still trying to figure out how to be okay with that.”

Blaine’s voice broke and Kurt felt his chest constrict at the sound. “I love the man you are, but I can’t help but miss the boy you were. You’d probably be pissed if you heard me say that.” Blaine let out a soft laugh, but it was devoid of any real humor. “It’s so much easier to say these things when you’re asleep.”

After that, Blaine fell into silence. It felt like ages, but he eventually resettled into bed, pressing a kiss to Kurt’s temple before finally cuddling up next to him. Blaine was warm, but Kurt couldn’t help a chill that sat deep in his bones from everything he just heard — every word Blaine wanted to say to him but couldn’t find the strength to say it. With his arm wrapped protectively around Kurt’s waist, he murmured one final thing before drifting off to sleep.

“G’night, Kurt. I love you.”

Hello @quizasvivamos for the tag. I guess I will follow your example and give a writing update:

There is no update.

BUT I have been writing for academic reasons and my friends, today I wrote the worst paper I've written since I started studying at university and my brain is absolutely fried now. It's only 20% of the final grade, so I just have to hope the exam will go well. Unfortunately, I don't think it will, cause I spent precious time that I could use for studying writing this bitch ass paper. Do I sound bitter? YES I am bitter. I am really, really unhappy with this form of examination for this specific course. I have so much to say about the way this entire degree is structured in general. The latest stats got released a couple of days ago. Only 22% of the people who start this degree finish it. That... is not a good luck. Alas, you're not here to listen to me bemoan my university's academic choices. You're here for fic!

In fic world, I am almost done with the next chapter of Ljubili se, since I wrote most of it before the one I last posted. (Oh, guess there's an update after all.) Also, I also want to contribute to the upcoming Klaine zine, but also, I am just kinda... dried up when it comes to the Klaine through the years vibe. I prefer writing AU than canon compliant. I don't know if I have anything existing to submit, and I do not know what else to write but I DO wanna join. So that's what's going on there.

In better news, I am replaying my childhood favourite game MySims Kingdom and it slaps.

2. Which of your WIPs is currently the longest?

Head Over Feet

3. Which WIP do you expect will end up the longest?

The Smut Challenge. I mean, there's 365 total chapters, how is that not the longest??

4. Which WIP is your favourite to write/the most enjoyable to write? Why?

I'm really focused on Head Over Feet more than the others at the moment. This is a story that, really, I wanted to write when I got into fandom -- a story about them finding each other again after their break up. I realize there are so many versions of this fic, but it's also a rite of passage I think to do it.

5. Which WIP do you find the most intimidating to write? Why?

Oh god The Smut Challenge. There are only so many ways you can write smut. One reason I stopped is that it was getting redundant.

6. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why?

Maybe Spaces In-Between. A complete canon compliant fic is something I always wanted to do - but it's been hard to come up with ideas for Season 1, and it hasn't gotten that much attention. Plus, I really found the first chapter really great - but then it's the only feedback that I got some negativity on, and have been unsure ever since.

7. Which of your WIPs will you seek out a beta/sensitivity reader for? Why?

I'll ask my lovely @snarkyhag for help with Head Over Feet and In The City That We Love -- because they're bigger stories, and room for more mistakes.

8. Have any of your WIPs been struck by the curse of writer's block?

All of them at some point. I feel like I'm just getting back into it after being out of it for at least six months to almost a year.

9. Which WIP has your favourite OC? Tell us about them?

I don't know that I have any? Not for the wips anyway.

10. Which WIP is the sexiest?

I mean, I guess Smut Challenge by default? They're all gonna have smut in it.

11. Which WIP is the angstiest?

Head Over Feet is pretty angsty. But if I'm guessing overall, Spaces In Between will end up being more so.

12. Which WIP has the best characterisation (in your humble opinion)? Right now - Head Over Feet, but I think I'm pretty consistent at keeping them all kind of the same.

13. Which WIP has the best scene setting (in your humble opinion)?

Hmmm, I'm terrible at scene description, so I'll leave that up to you.

14. Which WIP have you worked the hardest on?

Right now, Head Over Feet. but I'll end up working pretty hard on all of them. Though Smut Challenge will continue to be a little tongue and cheek if I get back to it.

15. Which WIP do you have the highest expectations for? Why?

I hope that, overall, you guys end up really enjoying Head Over Feet and In The City That We Love. I'm hoping that once Blaine enters the picture, Spaces In Between will pick up a bit. And I'm hoping that I do get back to the Smut Challenge, because self indulgently, I'd like it to get a ton of hits and make its way up the most read Klaine fic list.

16. Do you dream about any of your WIPs?

No. I think about them enough during the day - my brain has other things to contend with at night lol.

17. Do any of your WIPs have particular complexities that your other fics don't? I'd really liked to go back to the CrossRhodes saga once I'm done with a few of the others -- but it's a historical mystery, and that just adds a level of difficulty to it. I also think keeping the smut challenge new and refreshing is the tricky part there.

18. Which WIP is the funniest or has the most humour?

Probably In The City That We Love

19. Do any of your WIPs contain outside POVs or a deep dive on a character other than the main ship? How are you finding that process? Nope. Though, there are a couple of chapters of In The City That We Love that I may branch out a little because the original sketch had a fascinating character study of the full group.

20. Tell us one thing we don't know about one or more of your WIPs.

Honestly - maybe not necessarily about WIPs, but the fact that we're now so far away from the show ending, sometimes I wonder why I'm still writing. I mean - I'm writing for me and because I enjoy it. But I do wish the audience pool was a little bigger. Though I do appreciate that there still is an audience pool here. Idk, maybe I'll write an Ed/Stede oneshot to sooth my ego or something, lol.

Also, maybe semi-related, I have original fiction that I'd like to really settle down and write some day. I've been working on world building for twenty years, the problem is, who knows if it'd ever get published, or if I had an audience outside my family, which is why I continue to go back to fanfic. :P

Thank you also to @1908jmd for asking me this. Most people who read my fics know that I'm the Canon Line Queen. There is nothing I like better than to use canon lines in a slightly different way. Here are ones that features in many of my fics.

I've Been Looking For You Forever

Our Blaine was a bit oblivious at the start, and that is how I like to write him. There is almost always the "OH" moment in my fics.

I don't write canon-compliant fics but they usually dance in my fics. This was a best boyfriend swoony moment.

You Matter

It is almost impossible for me to write a Klaine fic without featuring Burt. I loved everything about "the talk" scene. Kurt learned the valuable lesson that he matters in relationships.

8) Favorite genre to write

Kurt Hummel brain worm genre. I just like to dig inside his brain.

But UM, more seriously. When it comes to fanfiction I'm the most partial to canon compliant quiet moments that explore characters' mental states, thoughts and feelings. I tend to write fanfiction as an exercise in character study.

In terms of bigger projects I like "soft AUs", as I've taken to calling them. I like a "what if?" situation or a "media... but" where it's as grounded in canon and canon characterisation as possible. I don't necessarily want to retell the plot of a movie, but the characters are called Kurt and Blaine. I want to find an interesting Klaine way of using elements from other stories or genres.

For things I come up with myself, contemporary fantasy is probably my natural home. I enjoy blending whimsy with modernity and modern sensibilities.

25) Copy/paste a few sentences or a short paragraph that you’re particularly proud of.

Reread most of my fic that's between Bash-Tested, cried a bit because um... s5 Klaine makes me sad ig, but I think this paragraph might be my favourite:

Blaine’s arm is like a seatbelt - he needs it to survive, even when it’s so tight that it cuts his circulation. But he needs it to survive. It’s the safest, most secure place he knows. Kurt needs this, but there’s a comfort in knowing that Blaine needs him, too.

Hiiii, do you have any recommendations that follow the real canon on the series and that shows that little *bigger* parts that neve showed?

There are many "reaction" fics written at the time the episodes aired, and subsequently where the writers expand the canon episode, or fill in the gaps.

I have written a new one-shot inspired by the German song "Barfuß am Klavier" by the band AnnenMayKantereit. Listening to it sparked an idea that I couldn't resist putting to paper and sharing with you. The story is maybe a bit sad, but it has a happy ending!

So, I created a project for the Glee Anniversary Appreciation Week. I originally began this with the intent that I would just do something quick for each day. And in my usual style, I did way too much and thusly wrote an almost 5k story with 26 photos.

This project fulfills the prompt from Day 1, which was "fave season or era." This story and accompanying photos all focus on Season 3 of the show.

Story Title: Kurt Hummel's Magical Senior Year

Summary: Kurt and Blaine are heading to Kurt's 10-year class reunion. At least, Blaine thinks they are. When he's finished laying their daughter down for a nap, he heads off to check on Kurt and discovers him sitting on his bed in his childhood bedroom, flipping through a book. Taking a seat behind him, they decide to take a quick walk down memory lane together.
