I love angst and I love pain but I cannot read "Neil died in Baltimore" fics. they genuinely make me sick to my stomach because he just didn't deserve it. he did not deserve to die terrified and alone and nameless. He deserved a life. a family. a future.

And Andrew? God. It would have destroyed him. He would have blamed himself for releasing Neil from their deal. He did not deserve to lose the one person who could pull him back from the edge. After everything he went through? fuck that.

thinking about vidyadhara!reader x jing yuan ...

we learned in the recent quests that vidyadhara can indeed become mara struck under the right circumstances, but they're capable of molting and turning into someone entirely new, thus freed from the mara that once struck them ... but of course, along with the molting process comes the loss of memory.

so imagine a reader who was once great friends with jing yuan. the two grew up together practically, working in the cloud knights together, doing everything together. jing yuan, despite his newfound duties as a cloud knight, finds himself falling in love with you.

then, amidst one of the abundance wars, you are stricken with mara. he watches you go insane, just before you disappear. and then, somehow, you are gone from his life forever.

for years, he wonders if you perished on that battlefield shortly before he was dragged away from you. he wonders if you suffered. surely, with the insanity of the mara wreaking havoc on your mind, you had. but at least he can be confident that you would not have had to live through that for long... that's what he tells himself so he can sleep at night.

it takes the general so, so long to let go of what happened. centuries pass, and he's still not confident he can completely dash the thought of you from his mind when he sees a new stall open with a snack he thinks you'd like, or when he sees the tailor shops put out a new line of clothes in your favorite hue.

and then, one day, he sees a familiar face among the crowds.

jing yuan is so quick to rush to your side, trying frantically to catch his breath, to ensure that what he sees before his own eyes is you, not some vision made up by his mind, not a sign that he's succumbing to mara himself, but really and truly you.

yet you only give him a nervous half-smile, your form going stiff the second you see him. you bow politely, and ask if there's anything you can do for the general. you ask him if you've met before.

it's you, and yet it's not.

he lets out that small hum of his when he's trying to fight back the pain he feels. he puts on that placating smile of his when he's trying not to let his hurt show. and he shakes his head, though it takes him nearly a minute under your familiar gaze to do it.

"...no. forgive me. I must have mistaken you for an old friend."

it's you, and yet it's not.

I always forget to post things,, anyway, past-timeline-stuff: Katalyn had to replace her sister as an Earthrealm warrior, for she accidentaly killed her, but she's not as powerful as her sister was so she always felt cast aside, and Raiden didn't trusted her fully because "the darkness that tainted her soul", in fact, thanks to that, at some point she gets kidnapped by the brotherhood of shadows, since she could stay at Netherrealm, would work way better as an ally than an opponent, and not only had potential but enough naivety to fell into the wrong clutches.

But rather than obeying Quan Chi or anyone else, she ended up being Noob Saibot's right-hand-woman, just because they had to team up multiple times, and maybe because of that, and maybe because opposites attract, she developts feelings for him, and betrays anyone else, for him. Does he feel the same? Not even he knows, but he doesn't dislike her presence, for some reason...

what about giyuu not necessarily being suicidal so much as just not wanting to live—like, he’s not chasing death but he’s not enthusiastic about being here. he feels like he has to atone for failing to safe sabito & tsutako, but doesn’t think death is the key? more so, he wishes he were never born so that none of it would’ve happened. it’s less a ‘i wish to die’ and more a ‘i shouldn’t have existed’ sort of situation?? kind of makes more sense to me than giyuu being suicidal—esp with his job, he really canNOT save people if he’s dead and the whole point was that he wished tsutako and sabito lived (or that he’d saved them?). then he doesn’t care about dying because it wouldn’t do anything except put a larger burden on the hashira, but if he never existed… then they would’ve been fine. something along those lines

This is smut yes, but, BUT you can really see all the love there is between them and that fucks me up. That's the type of porn that makes me cry. I never thought I could say that about porn one day. But maybe it's because it isn't, this is just LOVE!

I invented the tags here because it isn't on AO3. I need to mention this fic because it was like one of the first fics I read. It was more than a year ago and I still remember it. Maybe because I wished it had a next FUCKING chapter. I want to read more about it. I want to see what happened when they meet again later. I want to see what's going on in Dean's mind the next morning when he realized what he did, thinking about how he corrupted a fucking angel. Feeling guilty about it because it's Dean. I - I, maybe I'll fucking write this second chapter one day. But I don't know if it's a thing, you know, writing a sequel to someone else's fic.

Anyway, I hope you'll like reading those if it's not already done. I for sure have more fics to recommend but I have to save some for the 200 followers I guess lmao. One can dream.
