I am dying screaming wailing as i wait for the boy and the heron to come to streaming. So i can look at the wonderful backgrounds in my own time. I was absolutely lost in them when i watched the movie. The cinema screen was so so good i was taking in every damn brush stroke of those clouds.
And man the house in the forest. There was one shot that was so dreamlike i got reminded of this one dream of my own.
White knuckle gripping the arms of my chair i need them projected in my b r a i n.

On January 7th 1661 six ‘grave makers’ were paid £18 Scots for ‘raising’ the “mangled torso” of James Graham, Marquess of Montrose.
I love posts like this, in the first instance it is in my opinion a very interesting story, and in the second, I can just lift a large section of the information needed for the post straight from the records held by the Scottish Records Office.
There were actually two bodies, for the remains of Sir William Hay of Dalgety, executed along with Montrose, were retrieved at the same time. Robert Johnstone was paid £3 for showing the burial place, where the exhumation took place by torchlight. Surgeons washed the bones, wrapped them in cloth, and placed them in coffins. The coffins were covered with ‘two best velvet mortcloths’, for which John Kniblo, a local merchant, was paid £24, including ‘drink money’, a customary additional payment for work.
The accounts also show that 100 planks (‘daills’) were made into scaffolding and a stage ‘for the trumpeters for the down taking of my lord Marques head’ from the spike on the Tolbooth, where it had been since his execution on May 21st 1650.
After the coffin containing Montrose’s remains lay in state at Holyrood Abbey for eight weeks, a magnificent funeral took place on 11th May 1661. His remains were buried in St Giles. They were disturbed by later alterations, but after Queen Victoria expressed astonishment in 1886 on seeing a simple slab inscribed ‘Montrose 1661’, the place was marked more formally. Victoria also paid for a new marker for King James III at Cambuskenneth a year before.
The diarist John Nicoll wrote the following eye witness account of the days “event"
"[A guard of honour of four captains with their companies, all of them in] thair armes and displayit colouris, quha eftir a lang space marching up an doun the streitis, went out thaireftir to the Burrow mure quhair his corps wer bureyit, and quhair sundry nobles and gentrie his freindis and favorites, both hors and fute wer thair attending; and thair, in presence of sundry nobles, earls, lordis, barones and otheris convenit for the tyme, his graif [grave] was raisit, his body and bones taken out and wrappit up in curious clothes and put in a coffin, quhilk, under a canopy of rich velwet, wer careyit from the Burrow-mure to the Toun of Edinburgh; the nobles barones and gentrie on hors, the Toun of Edinburgh and many thousandis besyde, convoyit these corpis all along, the callouris [colours] fleying, drums towking [beating], trumpettis sounding, muskets cracking and cannones from the Castell roring; all of thame walking on till thai come to the Tolbuith of Edinburgh, frae the quhilke his heid wes very honorablie and with all dew respectis taken doun and put within the coffin under the cannopie with great acclamation and joy; all this tyme the trumpettis, the drumes, cannouns, gunes, the displayit cullouris geving honor to these deid corps. From thence all of thame, both hors and fute, convoyit these deid corps to the Abay Kirk of Halyrudhous quhair he is left inclosit in ane yll [aisle] till forder ordour be by his Majestie and Estaites of Parliament for the solempnitie of his Buriall"
The account of Robert Rae’s expenses as seen in the pic, and as I mentioned at the start, are held by the National Records of Scotland. Not all James Graham’s remains are in the High Kirk of Edinburgh, his heart was missing, having been removed by sympathisers in 1650, embalmed and kept safe. (Much later, the heart went missing and was lost.) Also missing was his right arm, it was nailed to the gates of Dundee and later was carried off to England, some of the remains are seen in the third pic. The final pic is his last resting place in St Giles.

@shermphibia // When we were young...
Tree branches and leaves russled and creaked with the movement of some creature in the shadows. The cannopies thick, causing a heavy shadow over the wandering hedgehog. An feeling of being watched can be felt, lilac eyes boring into the blue blurs back.
An eerie silence sweeps the forest before being broken by a high war cry. A flash of red drops from the trees onto the intruder, limbs wrapping around him followed by a series of smacks with a sizebale stick. The kid, as it turns out, continues to yell and hit the stranger.
He must protect the island!!

It is GOOD. The thing is, in Gideon the ninth, half the time you don't understand shit.
Like you know just enough to go on but sometimes you experience the feeling of being alone in the dark in the thick forest, an occasional drop of water falling from the cannopy, and having a 9 ton truck barrel at full speed from centimeter behind you, headlights screaming and disseapearing in the upside down pool of water above you head you never could have noticed.
You get whacked on the head by answers you never even thought to ask but that explain so much, without actually bringing you to a complete set of info for you to understand the world.
And Harrow the 9th does even worse, because so much of what you learned in the first book contradicts what you are reading and some of the answers you seeked in the first book are laid out (where the fuck is that train? Oh it's the ghost of the long dead city where the forest used to be, it roams the planet in search of humans to take with it to protect them from the sublimation of the wild) and immediately after the shock of understanding you have twice as much questions that seem way more urgent (what city I thought this was an alien planet? Who built this city? I looked up right after it left and there were tracks, there could not have been tracks I was walking on that spot 5 seconds ago and it was just purple sand. Also it passed me, am I not fucking human?).
Add to that one liners that made God blush (this is not a metaphore), enough angst to power the death of a planet and the most overcompetent and pathetic women you have over read about. It also makes jokes about sex and shows the most cruel aspects of actual schizophrenia while never 0laying it for laughs or pity.
Those books are insane and you should pick them up.
My favourite part of the Soup Scene in Harrow the Ninth is that she's essentially reverse-communion-ing God, like, hello Lord, you get to eat my flesh and blood

Personal room rankings:
1 - Looks to the Moon: U02 (9/10) 2 - Chimney Cannopy: F01 (9/10) 3 - Subterranean: F03 (9/10) 4 - Outskirts: A25 (8/10) 5 - Looks to the Moon: VISTA (7/10) 6 - Arena Outer Expanse: Sun Baked (7/10) 7 - The Exterior: C03 (6/10) 8 - Industrial Complex: B08 (6/10) 9 - Waterfront Facility: A03 (5/10) 10 - Shaded Citadel: A14 (3/10)
Extra comment: These are some interesting choices by the voters. U02 is a room I think pretty fondly of, because of the experience of noticing that my jumps and my Slugcat seems a little lighter than usual, resulting in a slow realization that "I did it! I finally crossed LttM's Leg and Underhang!". And after having to put up with so many harsh challenges, that feeling was quite incredible.
Anyways, the room I'll be covering today is B08, aka, the weird blue Pearl room. This one is pretty dang, I'll give it that much. I can't really think of any other room in the game the felt similar. However, that's probably for the better, because it's not particularly fun, which is especially highlighted by the wacky and complex (pun not intended) rooms that you can find in this region, or heck, even this general area of it. The region doesn't have too many Pearls, so getting two from here can come in real handy, if you're worried about Scavengers. Not to mention, the layout is kind of fair, and creatures will generally have to play in pretty honest ways here. So this place is still more positive than negative, but it's definitely not outstanding.
And for our bonus room of today, we have TOWER01 from Waterfront Facility, the one you'll see after doing that difficult Squidcada platforming in B04 as Artificer!
And uhh… this is sort of a Chimney Canopy room with a Waterfront Facility color scheme, that often gets ruined by Scavenger shenanigans. Though I can't fault this one too much, that description applies to many of the rooms from The Precipice, and for the ones slightly below it. And the general layout here is actually pretty good, with my one big gripe being that there's only one pipe that isn't a room connection, which is a questionable design decision that was avoided for the Chimney rooms of this general style. And doesn't ruin it by itself, but this place definitely could have been a lot better. I'll be nice, and I'll give it a 7/10, because I like these kinds of rooms, but for most of those, I would give 8, so yeah.
Pick Your Favorite Rain World Room, Day 229.2 R2
This is not single elimination! Every room with at least 15.0% vote will move on to the next round.
There is a hidden slugcat in one of the rooms (they can be in any color). If u can see it comment or reblog with where they are and if u are first, u get a cookie!

Congratulations for day 228 winners!
