Costa Blanca Boat Itinerary: What destinations can’t be missed while sailing this Spanish coast stretch?
With over 160 kilometers of coastline, Costa Blanca is one of Spain’s most popular tourist destinations. White beaches, blue sea, rocky coves, and an infinity of bars and restaurants follow one another from Denia to Pilar de la Horadada, giving well-being and fun to millions of visitors every year.
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER IN COSTA BLANCA
We have decided to share with you a possible itinerary to discover some of the best destinations Costa Blanca offers its visitors, strictly to be discovered aboard one of our rental boats.
Where are we?
The Costa Blanca is located in the south of Spain, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and is located south of the city of Valencia. It is also part of the autonomous Valencian Community.
Why exactly Denia?
City of just over 40,000 inhabitants located about 100 km south of Valencia. Not only a renowned tourist resort, but Denia is also an important maritime and commercial hub with Ibiza and the entire Balearic archipelago.
VIEW ALL THE BOATS BASED IN DENIA
Not to be missed, both the Muslim Castle and the Archaeological Museum where numerous finds from the Roman and Moorish periods are preserved. From the hill where these two buildings are located, you can see a beautiful panorama that goes as far as the Parc Natural de Montgo, about 10 kilometers away. The excursions inside this park, together with the innermost Cavaleres Caves and, obviously, the beaches of Les Marinas and de las Rotes represent the main points of interest for those who want to learn more about the city and its surroundings.
From a gastronomic point of view it is worth tasting the shrimps, traditional local fishing, still very popular today.
Where to embark on sailing in Costa Blanca?
The “Marina de Denia” tourist and sports port is a resort located a short distance from the city center. An ideal place to practice sports and nautical activities will be the starting and finishing point of our itinerary.
This marina not only offers numerous berths but is perfectly equipped for nautical tourism with activities such as rowing, kayaking, paddle surfing, or jet skiing.
What will our Costa Blanca boat itinerary be?
The starting and ending point of our itinerary will be the beautiful town of Denia. In between, we will visit a series of locations, more or less known, that characterize this stretch of the Spanish coast. Let’s find out together with a 9-day boat itinerary:
Day 1: Set sail from Denia
Once in the city, we just need to reach our boarding point in Marina de Denia. Here we will meet our skipper and the crew onboard and, after a short briefing to be sure that everything is ready for the trip, we are finally ready to sail!
Day 2: from Denia to Calpe
Our first destination is Calpe, a town that represents the right compromise between tradition, nature, and tourism.
A thriving tourism economy of hotels, pubs, bars, and restaurants has developed along its coastline of about 11 kilometers. Here, however, resists a naturalistic oasis of great importance, namely the Ifach peak, the famous limestone block about 330 meters high, a refuge for various species of birds as well as a treasure trove of biodiversity also from a floristic point of view. The excursions on the Penyal d’Ifac are truly exciting and offer a breathtaking view of the coast.
Obviously, there is no shortage of beaches and all the outdoor activities that can be practiced in a modern seaside resort.
Day 3: from Calpe to Benidorm
Nicknamed the “Manhattan of the Mediterranean”, Benidorm is the most cosmopolitan of the cities on Costa Blanca. Here mass tourism has changed the urban layout in a more significant way than elsewhere, transforming a fishermen and farmers village into a more than the modern city of about 70,000 inhabitants.
Benidorm has two main beaches, both very long and deep, Playa Levante and Playa Poniente. In addition to the crystalline sea and white sand, they offer an incredible amount of services: sunbeds; parasols; deckchairs; footboards; showers; bathrooms; play areas, and spaces dedicated to the countless activities that can be practiced on the beach and in the sea.
Day 4: from Benidorm to El Campello
El Campello is located in the heart of the Costa Blanca, between long stretches of beach and rocky coves. An ideal setting for beach lovers (don’t miss Playa Muchavista) and water sports who find optimal conditions here to cultivate their passions. Not just the sea, however. In fact, it is enough to venture a little inland to discover various nature trails for the delight of trekking and mountain bike enthusiasts. Among the main ones we point out the Canelobre Caves (Cuevas de Canelobre), great speleological interest cavities, or the archaeological site La Illeta dels Banyets, a small peninsula rich in archaeological finds.
Day 5: from El Campello to Alicante
Alicante is the most important of the Costa Blanca cities and is its main air and sea hub, as well as being the region’s first economic center.
Talking about tourist attractions, there is really an embarrassment of choice. A visit to the Castle of Santa Barbara, located on top of Mount Benacantil, the hill overlooking the city, is not to be missed. This fortress bears the signs of different denominations that have taken place in this area over the centuries.
The “Explanada de Espana” promenade is also worth a visit, as well as the various churches, above all the San Nicolas Cathedral.
Day 6: from Alicante to Tabarca island
Set sail from Alicante we head towards a small pearl of this sea. Tabarca Island is a small paradise on earth just 20 km off the city coast.
It is the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community, with a population that in winter only counts a few dozen people and which instead comes to life during summer.
It is the perfect destination for snorkelers. Its waters are in fact part of a nature reserve and are protected for their excellent quality and for the biodiversity of flora and fauna, while its small beaches and coves are wonderful for spending a day immersed in nature.
After sunset, when the day tourists have left the island, Tabarca becomes simply magical. The ideal place to stop in the evening and enjoy the peace and relaxation of this place lulled by the waves.
Day 7: from Tabarca Island to Altea
Bohemian town characterized by narrow and cobbled streets, flowery roundabouts, white houses, and numerous lookout points where you can stop and contemplate the landscape. Unmissable is the Church of La Madre de Deu de Consol.
For the rest, here too, sun, sea and beautiful beaches (above all Playa del Albir and Playa de Cap Blanch) where you can spend a pleasant day of relaxation and fun.
Day 8: from Altea to Javea
Jávea is located about ten kilometers south of Denia. Its historic center offers significant points of architectural and cultural interest. Above all, the Church of San Bartolomeo, not surprisingly, declared a national artistic monument already in the 1930s.
The port area is the most developed and it is there that many accommodations, leisure, and catering facilities are concentrated
Day 9: visiting Denia
Back at the port of departure we just have to say goodbye to the crew and spend our last day enjoying the sun of Denia.

Empresas y marcas made in Alicante, según Fernando Olivares
