The Oscars 2024 & their mistakes
The Marvels and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes should have been nominated by the Academy for Best Picture of 2023 because they were by far the Best Movies of 2023, unlike the box office flop/bomb that was Killers of the Flower Moon.
Also, Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Rachel Zegler deserved to be nominated for Academy Awards far more than those the Academy actually nominated such as the talentless hack Lily Gladstone.
After all, The Marvels and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes were by far the Best Movies of 2023.

i just added a lot of newbies and i'm itching to use them so i can see who i wanna keep. so, like for a one liner from one or a few, i'll come to you for who! list under the cut, this time with all info i have on them listed for ease of access but it's a little long, sorry.

davie choi, 28, lesbian, she/her, jeon jong-seo fc / formerly a brainwashed contract killer. now being hunted down by the company that made her impossible to kill.
gisela meyer, 23-50, bisexual, she/her, madchen amick fc / witch who runs a little store in new orleans. adoptive mother to a group of younger witches that make up her coven. played at a number of ages depending on what best suits the plot, more tba.
heidi laslow, eternally 30, bisexual, she/her, rebecca breeds fc / tiny but feisty vampire. turned in the seventies when she was protesting and travelling around with her boyfriend at the time. her morals have waned a little over time, but she’s as good as she can be.

maude catlett, 35, bisexual, she/her, maya erskine fc / romance novelist who writes the kind of explicit scenes she’d probably never actually take part in. a bit of a recluse, really.
molly thaxton, 37, lesbian, she/they, lily gladstone / construction worker. in night school to eventually start her own business. grew up surrounded by men, but ended up quiet rather than rowdy.

So Lily Gladstone's mom loves Timmy after seeing him at the Golden Globes. Oh yeah, no one takes him seriously anymore. He totally ruined his career and image in the industry by attending with Kylie. Doesn't Lily know she shouldn't say Timmy's name on national tv cause the jobless losers on reddit and twitter cancelled him? Oh no! 🤭

Clayton Davis is an idiot. Last year he was involved in some stupid Lily Gladstone controversy during awards season, and he got canceled for it.// Yeah, and he did something similar to Cillian Murphy as well. Throughout the race, he had Paul Giamatti as a winner in his predictions for Best Actor and I read on twitter that he personally ignored uploading anything whenever Cillian won an award because he was proven wrong. If you’re a regular on filmtwt, you’ll know nobody believes his predictions because they’re always too mainstream and never right. I do remember seeing Harry Styles in his predictions for Best Actor for My Policeman in the late fall of 2022. 😂

I don't want to watch the Oscars
anymore... Why does Hollywood suck now? Why?
Every year I watch the Oscars. I still remember being like 9, and watching Julia Roberts win for Erin Brokovich, and i still remember that smile, oh and that dress #iconic.
I was quite mystified last year when Charlbi Dean Kriek and Paul Sorvino were both omitted from the memoriam segment. That was was a crime.
Then this year, wtf on the fucking nominations?!? I thought the Barbie movie was OKaY, but not like award worthy...not by a long shot. It only needs one award for set design and that is it. Both of the times I watched the Barbie Movie, I couldn't get over how bad Ryan Gosling was in that movie, like.....ugh..... my mind ... just wanted to erase him from the film. I felt he was completely miscast as Ken.
(Make Drive 2 Ryan)
Charles Melton, or Dominic Sessa should've been nominated for best supporting actor instead of Ryaaan Gooosling, and that is a fact. Both of those young actors gave absolutely stellar performances and they deserved the recognition. HOLLYWOOD hasn't gotten it right at the oscars since Parasite won best picture and the last thing anyone wants to see is Jamie Lee Curtis congratulating herself.
My biggest gripe with the Oscars, is the 9 film nomination category. Just stop it. That category only needs 5 best film nominations, at most. Make it an actual race, so it feels like any of the 5 best films can win. So much better back in the day
I just dont feel like watching the oscars this year, and perhaps the one next year, for various reasons, mentioned above. Either, recognize the best actors, directors, and the best films, or just cancel the oscars altogether. Like I just can't get over Barbie (the movie) being nominated for best picture, as the storyline was just well [meh]. The plot was a circle going nowhere. Allan and weird Barbie get my nominations, if anything, they at least made me laugh.
Shoutout though to Annette Benning, and Lily GladStone though, as well as Robert Downey G. Of course there are the finest who do get recognition, but not all of the finest, not even close. It seems every year the Oscar snub list keeps growing and growing.
Many of the snubs don't even make sense at this point and hollywood wonders why their numbers are down, when frankly there is plenty of good material out there to still churn out good content in the span of a 2hr film.
(Re edited thoughts on the matte4r, in my Tumblr journal)

Have any of you running the blog ever have someone in the family who excelled at just sweeping extraneous time wasting material off to the side (like the fandom fake wedding/fake drugs/fake PR fodder)--out of sight out of mind style and focusing on the topics that are adjacent to the industry? (like my mother the way she does when I try and distract her about grandbaby talk).
If so, can we talk about awards season which will be here before we know it? Ignoring the actual hardware, who do y'all think is going to bring it fashion wise? Who is going to be THE interview? Do you think the strikes will be resolved in the next two months before fourth quarter earnings? I completely get this is a Chris Evans centric blog but you have always been willing to entertain the 'extra' cherry on the sundae discussions. I know it seems early, but honestly with the strike I'm desperate for something that is at least film/industry related and bless his heart Chris is probably getting busy as a newlywed so.....
*I pinky swear I'm not trolling but the drug talk really was upsetting from a 'how would anyone know this to be true that hasn't actually met the man' perspective'....I know it's a minority of the fandom but wow, it's just the head shaking wonder of it all. I saw an actual timeline that was qanon worthy in its minutiae of detail and that's ten minutes of my life that will never return....thanks for all that you do to keep the peace.
Yeeeees! I love chatting award season! Although I have to admit I’m SO far behind on keeping up with potential contenders. Usually in late summer/early fall I always put together a big spread sheet of movies that are potential awards contenders with their release dates and if it’ll be theatrical or streaming, plus the categories I think it could fall under. It’s a big thing but it helps me keep track of what I need/want to watch as I go. I’ve just been really busy this fall and never got around to making that list yet 😂
I really hope the strike ends soon, because I’d love to listen to some people talk about their work. Yes, I want to see the fun interviews like a lot of us hoped to see with Chris and Emily Blunt or Chris and The Rock, but I’d also love to see insightful conversations around movies like Killers of the Flower Moon. Lily Gladstone has been trending on my twitter page for the last 3 days and I’d just love to get to hear her talk about the film making process, but also what her success and the praise she’s receiving means to her. I can’t imagine being excited that you’re being recognized for your work paired with the disappointment of not being able to talk about it at all. It’s a bummer to see people miss the opportunity to get to talk about their work. I really hope the strike is resolved soon, but I’ll be curious to see what happens with award season going forward if it isn’t. It makes me wonder if they’ll postpone or even cancel the awards?
I’ve still not seen Barbie and Oppenheimer (I know, I know 😭) but I’m also dying to see Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon, Maestro, The Color Purple, and The Bikeriders. And that’s just off the top of my head. I know I’m missing plenty of other movies that are very promising. What about you? Which movies are you most looking forward to? 🦎

A guide to:
Blockout 2024
A introduction to digital mobilization
#blockout2024 is an individual movement dedicated to the deplatforming of celebrities
"Why celebrities?"
In an increasingly digital world, we need to reflect on the media we are expected to engage with.
Questioning, rejecting, and mobilizing against massive displays of luxury is a call to invest our attention for the betterment of humanity, not to support a system that doesn't support us.
"Are you cancelling celebrities?"
No. This is not a movement to attack or shame celebrities (though I'm judging). It's a reminder of the individual choice we have as consumers in who we support. In a world designed for the success of the 1%, reclaiming individual attention is important.
Celebrities owe nothing to us, therefore we owe nothing to them.
Reconsider who you choose to contribute to the platform of
This is an important example of digital mobilization, an emerging area of study in which technology is looked at as a toolkit for the widespread and effective mobilization of a cause.
Continue reclaiming individual power!

The original tweet I got this from says via 2024Blockout. I couldn't find the @ on Twitter so it's likely a TikTok account.
The goal is to block any major celebrity who hasn't spoken up about Gaza in order to cut off their means of making money off of us. If their videos and ads don't appear on our TLs and FYPs, that means no revenue for them. There's some videos going around explaining this campaign in depth better which I'll post later on, but I'm liking the idea and blocking whoever I can on Twitter and IG since I don't have TikTok.
Here's a blocklist I saw going around:

Apparently, Brendan Fraser acts so well in his new movie that he received a round of applause at the end of his first screening. The Whalea new psychological drama from the director of black swanDarren Aronofsky, saw Fraser go through a physical transformation, in addition to donning prosthetics, to play a man who "lives with obesity." Its official synopsis reads: "A lonely English teacher suffering from severe obesity tries to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption." Many hoped that the film could be a kind of comeback for the actor from The Mummy53, who hasn't had a leading role since the thriller Breakout which was released straight to DVD in 2013. Following the film's premiere at the Venice Film Festival, many journalists say an Oscar nomination for Fraser could now be on the line. In fact, the movie was so well-liked that it received an eight-minute standing ovation at the premiere. According to those in attendance, when the credits of the film rolled, the entire room erupted in applause as the actor's name appeared on the screen. Rob Ruggio wrote after the screening ended: “A big round of applause for Brendan Fraser when his name appeared in the end credits of The Whale“. Christina Jeurling Birro He added: “I'll leave you with this until the embargo is lifted: There was a big round of applause for Brendan Fraser when his name came up on the screen during the end credits. And many tears being wiped away...”. “The applause when Fraser's name appeared on the screen during the screening of The Whale… OMG. I'm ready for the Brenaissance!” she commented. Iman Vellani still being so enthusiastic about Marvel is cute.
Not naming any names, but you can spot most of the major actors involved saw it as jumpstart to their career. But are done with it.
There’s nothing wrong that. In the acting business, you have to be opportunistic.
Oh, they offered Robert Downey Jr a lot of money to come back in the multiverse. And he turned them down.

The Oscars 2024
Brie Larson, Rachel Zegler, and Iman Vellani deserved to be nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress far more than a hack like Lily Gladstone as Lily Gladstone is a talentless hack and definitely does not deserve to be nominated for an Oscar.
After all, if Lily Gladstone was actually talented she would be in far better movies than Scorsese's worthless films because Scorsese is the least talented filmmaker of all time.
After all, The Marvels and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes were the Best Movies of 2023.
