Imports🌿Learnt that less is more when rehabing hoyas. #hoyavitellinoides Update: Been 7 weeks since I received my first hoya import from Thailand. Gotta admit, it's been a steep learning curve for me. Not all of them are gonna make it. I have amassed a small collection of leafless sticks, thanks to overhandling and overwatering. In general, just being an overeager 🚁plant parent. (Please, tell me you can relate.😅) Funny enough, the ones that I didn't disturb or pay much attention to, are doing well! I'll give an update on individual plants, when there is more to report. Blooms smell like caramel popcorn! #hoyaheuschkeliana ✨Storytime: This week, I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my first import hoyas. I find myself constantly checking the status update. Time in-transit from Thailand to Canada is 9 days and counting. Seems like such a long time! With customs inspection backlog, the Canada Day stat holiday and the regional heat wave, I really hope🤞the plants survive. Shipment should be arriving any day now. I'll post some updates on my stories when I receive them. 💡NOTE to fellow Canadian houseplant importers: Apparently CFIA is thoroughly checking the accuracy, authenticity and completeness of paperwork. Not sure if it's a blitz or possibly triggered by recent fraudulent activities. Throwback📷 to when I could actually hold this plant up with one hand and use the other to snap this photo. That was 6 months ago. Fast forward to the present - it’s a beast of a plant that barely fits in frame. Personally, I’m a fan of the self-watering set up. I find it to be a useful tool when dealing with thirsty plants. It also gives me some wiggle room, when I’m away or forgetful with my watering schedule. I have multiple self-watering set ups around the apartment, using mediums such as LECA, pon and orchid mix. They’ve all worked well.
