IRCC has offered 84,874 ITAs in Express Entry so far in 2024
As of 19 September 2024 (the last draw considered for the tally), IRCC has offered 84,874 Invitations to Apply for Canada PR Visa compared to the 81,948 ITAs offered in 2023 as of September 20.
One noteworthy fact is that the allocation of newcomers under the Express Entry System has been increased from 2023 to 2024. This is as per the Immigration Levels Plan for 2024 to 2026. Meanwhile, if you are keen to move to Canada in 2024, it is essential that you check PR eligibility for Canada.
The allocation of skilled immigrants under Express Entry in 2023 was 82,800. It has been increased to 110,770 skilled immigrants for the year 2024.
Number of Express Entry draws in 2024 compared with 2023
IRCC has so far conducted 37 draws in the Express Entry System across 9 diverse streams and categories. The average of ITAs allocated in these draws is 2,294 while this is highly variable based on the stream or category under consideration.
By this time in 2023, IRCC has conducted 28 draws across 8 diverse streams and categories. The average of ITAs allocated in these draws is 2,927 while this is again highly variable based on the stream or category under consideration.
The disparity in the number of draws conducted is partially owing to the landmark July in the Express Entry System in 2024 as IRCC conducted 9 draws. This was the highest number of draws held in one month so far after the launch of Express Entry in 2015.
The selection draws based on categories in Express Entry were launched by IRCC in 2023. This policy allows it to specifically target candidates that fulfill the nation’s demographic and economic needs.
IRCC has offered more number of ITAs in 2024 so far in comparison with the same period in 2023. However, a deeper assessment of the data will reveal interesting insights.
Category-based Selection Draws
IRCC adopted the selection draws based on categories to choose specific candidates through the Express Entry System. It is possible to offer ITAs to candidates by offering more value to their unique human capital factors rather than only their score in the Canada CRS score calculator. These can be their language proficiency or work experience.
At present, the following categories exist in Express Entry:
· STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Occupations
· Healthcare Occupations
· Trade Occupations
· Agriculture and Agri-food Occupations
· Transport Occupations
· Proficiency in French language
Allocation of ITAs in 2024 and 2023 based on Categories
The below table displays the number of draws held according to the stream/category and the number of ITAs offered till now in every stream/category so far in 2024 and the same period in 2023:
You must note that there is a steep rise in the number of draws held under CEC and PNP under Express Entry after May and June 2024. This is after the statement from Marc Miller the Immigration Minister to conduct increased numbers of draws domestically for candidates in Express Entry.
A total of 4 draws under PNP and nil under CEC were conducted in Express Entry in 2023. On the other hand, so far in 2024, 6 draws in CEC and 8 in PNP have been already held. The enhanced prominence of the category French Language Proficiency also has to be noted.
Category-wise CRS cut-off
The following table displays the lowest and highest cut-off scores for the years 2023 and 2024 based on selection categories and streams for the same period. This will offer better comparative clarity on stream/category-wise cut-off scores.

Canada is an attractive destination for engineers due to its strong economy, diverse job market, and high quality of life. Whether you specialize in civil, software, mechanical, or electrical engineering, opportunities abound for skilled professionals.

All About Canadian Citizenship Eligibility for Indians
Canada, with its breathtaking landscapes and diverse culture, has become an attractive destination for many Indians seeking a better life. If you're dreaming of calling Canada your home, understanding the eligibility criteria for Canadian citizenship is a crucial first step. Let's explore the requirements in simple language to make the process more accessible.
Permanent Residency
To become a Canadian citizen, you first need to be a permanent resident. Permanent residency allows you to live, work, and study anywhere in Canada. There are various immigration programs to obtain permanent residency, such as Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), or Family Sponsorship. Once you've secured permanent residency, you can start counting your days towards meeting the residency requirement for citizenship.
Residency Requirement
To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must have lived in Canada for at least 1,095 days (three years) out of the last five years before applying. During these three years, you should also have been physically present in Canada for at least 183 days in each of the four calendar years within the qualifying period.
Income Tax Filing
Paying your taxes is a crucial part of being a responsible citizen. To meet the eligibility criteria, you must file your income taxes for at least three years within the five-year period preceding your citizenship application. Make sure to keep your tax records in order.
Language Proficiency
Canada is a bilingual country, and language proficiency is essential. You must demonstrate adequate knowledge of English or French by providing evidence of your language skills. This can be done through language tests approved by the immigration authorities, such as the IELTS or CELPIP for English and TEF for French.
Knowledge of Canada
Understanding Canada's history, values, institutions, symbols, and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship is vital. You will be required to take the Canadian citizenship test, which assesses your knowledge of these aspects. Study guides and resources are available to help you prepare.
Criminal Record
Having a clean record is crucial for Canadian citizenship. If you have a criminal history, it may affect your eligibility. Be prepared to provide a police certificate for each country you have lived in during the qualifying period.
Intent to Reside
Finally, you must declare your intention to reside in Canada if granted citizenship. This means you plan to make Canada your permanent home and contribute to the country's growth and development.
Conclusion
Becoming a Canadian Citizenship Eligibility is a significant milestone and a rewarding journey. By meeting the eligibility criteria and following the application process diligently, you can pave the way to a brighter future in this beautiful and welcoming country. Canada is known for its welcoming attitude towards immigrants, and the Express Entry system is one of the most popular pathways for individuals seeking permanent residency (PR) in the country. In this article, we’ll explore the key requirements and steps you need to follow to make your dream of becoming a permanent resident in Canada a reality.
Understanding Express Entry
The Express Entry system is an online application management system designed to streamline the immigration process for skilled workers. It encompasses several federal economic immigration programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are also linked to Express Entry.
Eligibility Requirements
Before you dive into the Express Entry application process, it’s essential to ensure that you meet the basic eligibility criteria. Here’s a breakdown of the primary requirements:
A. Skilled Work Experience: To be eligible, you must have at least one year of continuous full-time or an equal amount in part-time work experience in a skilled occupation within the last ten years. The skill type must fall under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) categories 0, A, or B.
B. Language Proficiency: You need to prove your language proficiency in either English or French by taking an approved language test. Adequate language skills are crucial and can significantly affect your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which is used to rank candidates.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)
The CRS is a point-based system used to rank candidates in the Express Entry pool. It takes into account factors like age, work experience, language proficiency, education, and more. The higher your CRS score, the better your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. To improve your CRS score, consider factors like improving your language proficiency, obtaining a job offer from a Canadian employer, or receiving a Provincial Nomination.
Express Entry Pool and Invitations
Once you meet the eligibility criteria and create an Express Entry profile, you’ll be placed in the Express Entry pool. Canada is a country that is known for its welcoming nature, diverse culture, and strong economy. It is a land of opportunity that has attracted immigrants from all over the world for many years. In order to make the process of immigration more efficient and effective, Canada has implemented a system known as Express Entry. Express entry system in detail and how it works.
What is Express Entry?
Canada Express Entry is an online system used by the Canadian government to manage applications for permanent residency from skilled workers. The system was introduced in 2015 and has since become the main way skilled workers can apply to immigrate to Canada.
How Does Express Entry Work?
The Express Entry system ranks applicants based on their skills, education, language proficiency, and other factors that are important to the Canadian economy. These factors are used to determine an applicant’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The highest-ranked applicants are then invited to apply for permanent residency.
There are three main programs under which applicants can apply through the Express Entry system:
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is designed for skilled workers with work experience in high-demand occupations. In order to be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Have at least one year of work experience in a skilled occupation
Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer or be eligible to work in Canada without a job offer
Meet the minimum language requirements in English or French
Have a Canadian Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to prove their educational qualifications
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is designed for skilled workers who have already worked in Canada for at least one year. In order to be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada
Meet the minimum language requirements in English or French
Have Canadian work experience in a high-demand occupation
Have legal status in Canada
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is designed for skilled workers who have been nominated by a province or territory in Canada. In order to be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer or be eligible to work in Canada without a job offer
Meet the minimum language requirements in English or French
Meet the eligibility requirements of the province or territory that has nominated them
CRS Score
The CRS score is used to rank applicants in the Express Entry pool. The score is calculated based on the following factors:
Age
Language proficiency in English or French
Education
Work experience
Spouses or common-law partner factors, such as language proficiency and education
Skill transferability, which is a combination of education, language proficiency, and work experience
The maximum CRS score that can be obtained is 1,200. The highest-ranked applicants are then invited to apply for permanent residency.
Invitation to Apply (ITA)
Applicants who receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency. The application must include all required documents, such as police certificates, medical exams, and proof of funds. Once the application is submitted, it is reviewed by a Canadian immigration officer.
Processing Time
The processing time for an Express Entry application varies depending on the program and the complexity of the application. The government of Canada provides estimated processing times on its website, which can be used as a guideline.
Benefits of Express Entry
There are several benefits to using the Express Entry system to apply for permanent residency in Canada. These include:
Faster processing times: Express Entry applications are processed faster than traditional applications.
Improved chances of success: The system ranks applicants based on their CRS score, meaning those with higher scores have a better chance of being invited to apply for permanent residency.
No minimum investment required: Unlike other immigration programs, the Express Entry system does not require applicants to invest a minimum amount of money in Canada.
No job offers required: While having a job offer from a Canadian employer can improve an applicant’s chances of success, it is not a requirement for the Express Entry system.
Flexibility: The Express Entry system allows applicants to apply for permanent residency through multiple programs, which provides more flexibility and increases the chances of success.

Step-by-Step Guide to Canada Express Entry Draw
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is a crucial component of Canada's Express Entry system. It is a points-based mechanism used by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to assess and rank candidates in the Express Entry pool. The higher the CRS score, the better the chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. This guide provides a detailed explanation of the CRS score calculation process, outlining the various factors that contribute to the final score. ### Key Components of the CRS Score The CRS score is calculated based on four main categories:
1. Core/Human Capital Factors*
2. Spouse or Common-Law Partner Factors 3. Skill Transferability Factors 4. Additional Factors Each category contains specific criteria that applicants need to meet to accumulate points. 1. Core/Human Capital Factors These factors assess the individual's basic attributes, including age, education, language proficiency, and Canadian work experience. Age: - Maximum points: 110 (for single applicants) or 100 (for married applicants) - Points decrease with age, favoring younger applicants. For example, applicants aged 20-29 receive the highest points, while those over 45 receive no points in this category. Education: - Maximum points: 150 - Points are awarded based on the level of education. A doctoral degree (PhD) earns the highest points, while a high school diploma earns the least. Language Proficiency: - Maximum points: 136 (for single applicants) or 128 (for married applicants) - Points are awarded based on performance in recognized language tests (IELTS, CELPIP for English, and TEF for French). Higher proficiency levels earn more points. Canadian Work Experience: - Maximum points: 80 (for single applicants) or 70 (for married applicants) - Points are based on the duration of skilled work experience in Canada, with more extended experience earning higher points.
