setting up to sample drums from cassette tapes, which involves, incredibly, the wrong voltage dc adapter and a printer cable, because some guy (trevor) gave it to me in like 2014 and i guess i must have thrown away the cables not remembering what they were. so this is shaping up for some real weird liner notes (special thanks to trevor and hewlett packard). i found a surprising number of promising tapes at half price books (and also the new bill watterson, radium girls, steven weinberg, and on cd, a crystal waters remix album, la roux, and joni mitchell's 1988 release. they did not, unsurprisingly, have the new vincent bevins) but so far -- although it is AMAZINGLY difficult to focus on listening for one isolated drum hit -- honey drippers does not really have any sampleable drums (though maybe strings) despite being the source of one of THE top two drum loop samples (impeach the president, second only to the amen break). maybe i'll have better luck with marvin gaye or uh, the temptations christmas album...? hmm. in any case i should have been asleep six hours ago. but i'm only working one consecutive night this week because i, like an idiot, traded my thursday for halloween saturday, which i would not have done if my manager was clear that i was not actually picking up overtime. honestly kind of sucks because my costume is allegedly out for delivery. *explodes*
