Psst, hear me out: The Beast being fucking yanderes with the ancients.

You Get It™️ I mean... Did you guys see episode 6? Burning Simp Cookie is already a yandere lol. He's been there and he refuses to leave. And Shadow Milk is honestly not that far behind, he feels some type of way towards Pure Vanilla and it would be cute if it wasn't so sad and creepy lol

Really though, I just love hero/villain ships in general (always have, since long before Cookie Run ever existed) and I get a kick out of villains acting stupid over crushes (read: obsessions), and acting stupid in general. There's just something about a villain being in love with the hero to a psychotic, comical degree, and the hero rebuffing them at every turn that's just really amusing to me lol. Like what Joker sort of has with Batman, you know?

Here are my Yandere Beasts in bare-bones terms:

Burning Spice: come on, if you've read my stuff, you know EXACTLY what Yandere Spice is like lol. If not, I'll refer you to this and this, as well as my fics on AO3. If those don't tell you what Yandere Spice is like then idk how else to help you lol

Shadow Milk: if the final boss of theater/drama kids had a crush but was also a malignant narcissist of some sort lol. Absolutely DESPERATE for Vanilla's attention at all times. If he's not actively trying to worm into Vanilla's brain and harass him in his thoughts and dreams, he's in the real world brainstorming better ways to do that lol. He does not grasp why the creepy puppet shows and gaslighting attempts aren't convincing Vanilla to fall in love with him. Will attack and torment and insult Vani in one breath and then praise and love and worship him in another, because he's a histrionic clown freak with whirlwind emotions. But above all else, he literally thinks he owns Vani and is meticulously plotting the horrible and hilarious demise of any and all he perceives as a threat to their union

Eternal Sugar: World's Laziest Stalker™️. Almost exclusively haunts Holly in her dreams (I have to assume that that's what her power will entail, as the Beast of Sloth); however, she's more "effective" in her wooing attempts due to her past experience as the Herald of Happiness. She actually goes out of her way to construct dreams and the like that have things in them that make Holly happy (or what she thinks makes Holly happy; she, as well as the others, has big tunnel vision and is very selfish and self-absorbed, and thus pays more lip service to her own wants than those of who she loves/obsesses over). Thankfully doesn't run into Holly in person often because that's work... but sometimes she DOES work up the nerve to go after her for real, and... well

Mystic Flour: Denial, denial, denial. Not just a river in Egypt the Golden Cheese Kingdom, but she'll say and act like otherwise. No, she does not like Dark Cacao. He robbed her of her volition and the chance to enact her will. He prevented her from freeing the world from pain and suffering. He is a stubborn fool who refuses to understand the truth. He... is very handsome. She does not like how handsome he is. It is distracting. She doesn't like dwelling on her memories of him and their encounters. She doesn't like how she came to harbor a single kernel of respect in her heart after he stood his ground against her; a kernel that she inadvertently nurtured and cultivated slowly but surely, until... no. No, she doesn't like Dark Cacao. She doesn't think about him all day. She doesn't want to try to lure him back to her land so she can trap him in the flour fog with her again. She doesn't miss feeling his dark eyes on her. She doesn't deeply resent his attachment to his people, and seek to transfer that attachment to her instead. No, she... damn it, he's ruined her. He's made her feel things again. He's made her succumb to selfishness and greed, to earthly desire and attachment - desire for HIM, attachment to HIM. All of her hard work and enlightenment gone to waste... She doesn't want to like Dark Cacao, she recognizes the folly in such a thing, but she's stuck - and so stuck is she that not only does she not really see a way out, she doesn't WANT one. She's become too content with her attachment to him too quickly. Now she has to agonize over her own foolishness, and try to keep denying that she doesn't care while also longing for his attention and wanting to do away with all that steals his attention away from her

Silent Salt: probably the least awful of the five, but he's still creepy and that's not a high bar to clear anyway lol. Has a better grasp on "normal" behavior than the others (like... he pays attention to what White Lily likes/wants and tries to adjust accordingly), but he's following her around everywhere and acting extremely violent and territorial over her towards anyone who he catches approaching her. He's legitimately, surprisingly sweet and gentle towards her; he brings her flowers, he listens to her when she asks/tells him something, he's more or less respectful of her personal space (he will try to be as physically close to her as possible, but actually backs off a little if she asks him to, only to try again, and so on and so forth)... but he's still a villain, he's still violent and creepy, he still gets angry when she pays attention to other people for too long and he has brought actual harm to others out of jealousy. He's the best of the worst but that really doesn't mean much of anything, he's still a psycho creep like the others

In short, they form a tight-knit coalition of absolutely fucking deranged freakazoids and they should all probably die :)

Why You Should Watch Bang Brave Bang Bravern

An essay by Junipei while they wait for they friends to come online so we can watch episode 3. Some spoilers for episode 1-2 I guess

Reason 1 - It be Nefarious

Ok so let me tell you how I came to actually watch this show. I have a friend who does one of those seasonal anime review podcast things and I was basically helping man go through the bottom of the barrel. Things that were either going to be cute for an episode before its gimmick ran into the ground or just straight up trash. I was the emotional support Juni.

So we boot up Bang Brave Bang Bravern knowing only that it's a generic mecha show with a fucked up name and a bromance thrown in for fun. That's what we thought

THAT'S WHAT WE THOUGHT

We thought things were getting interesting when the aliens showed up. Ok it's not just a gritty anime it's a Pacific Rim Top Gun thing, ok, that's more interesting than what we thought, that's fine.

AND THEN BRAVERN SHOWS UP.

AND WE REALISE THIS ISN'T JUST A GRITTY REALISTIC MECHA. IT GOT COLLIDED WITH A FUCKIN SUPER ROBOT SHOW FROM THE 70s.

I have not had my jaw this dropped since episode 1 of Code Geass. We were played like fiddles bro.

So we watch episode 2, wondering where the hell its going to go from there. IT GOES TO-

Reason 2 - Robot Gay Hell

As a person who enjoys human sized people kissing 10ft tall death machines, I have been starved my entire life. I take what I can get.

So imagine my surprise when the show sets up that Bravern is head over heels in love with his pilot Isami. So much so that he refuses to let anyone else get in that cockpit. Wahey!

It has mostly been played for a joke, that's the one single downside. That's not very sustainable. BUT I am very curious to see where it goes. This leads into-

Reason 3 - Something is UP my Dudes

If the carefully planned bait and switch says anything, it's that the show has a lot more planned up it sleeve. And you see that in allmost every scene. Bravern and the one-dimensional aliens creates a massive tonal dissonance with the original part of the show.

You see, the realistic gritty mecha bit is still playing out like a realistic gritty mecha. Our boy Isami gets waterboarded by the CIA for any info he has on Bravern. Things don't magically get better after Bravern saves the main cast, the Earth is going to shit real fast.

So if you think of Bravern and the aliens in the context of the more realistic part of the show, shit is mighty sus. Are you really going to take man's word that he's a hero here to defeat the bad guys?

It could turn darker, it could turn spicy, or it could sustain the show past the "gimmick turns stale real quick" problem anime has these days.

If you've made it this far good job soldier, now get out there and make me some gott damnged robot yaoi. I HAVE STARVED FOR 20 YEARS FOR THIS CONTENT. GIVE IT- GIVE IT OT ME NOW

Chapter 7

“Y/N?” You hear Jake whisper. You blink to find him searching your face, worry painted in his eyes. “Let’s get you home. Do you need help standing?”

You only nod. You couldn’t speak, let alone walk alone. What were you going to do to get out of the bar? How were you gonna drive home?

“I’m driving you home and having Bob drop off your car later,” he says. “Let me go tell Penny I’m taking you home.”

“No,” you croak. Your throat felt dry, almost spongy. You lick your lips before adding, “Please don’t leave me.”

“I’m not going anywhere,” he soothes. He pulls his phone out of his pocket, texting someone, and then placing a hand on the small of your back. “Can I touch you?”

You hesitate before nodding slowly.

Jake hoists you up into his arms bridal-style before kicking the door open and walking you straight out the front door of Hard Deck, Bradley and Phoenix a few steps away.

“What’s wrong?” Bradley asks, surveying you like his life depends on it.

“I’m taking her home,” Jake tells him.

“Why? What happened?” Bradley goes on to ask.

“She’ll call you guys tomorrow but right now, I need to get her somewhere quiet,” Jake tells them before turning toward them with a raised brow. “Can one of you open my car door?”

Phoenix opens the passenger seat door and watches as Jake sets you down, gently pulling the seat belt over you and strapping you in. Meanwhile, you’ve been solemn, barely blinking, and staring off into space. The only thing going through your mind is the day of the mission.

Over and over, you think of the way the man had you tied up to a chair. How he had you beaten for not answering his questions. How he laughed when you finally broke down in sobs when you realized no one was going to save you.

“Y/N?” you hear Bradley say softly. “Jake says he’s taking you home but I just want to hear it from you. Are you sure you want to go home?”

“I want him to take me to his house. I need to be alone,” you tell him in a monotone voice. “I don’t need the pitying looks you and Nat are giving me right now.”

“We just want what’s best for you,” Nat joins in.

“I need to be left alone,” you spit. You knew the rage was meant for the man, but you couldn’t help yourself. Once it was out, it was easy to let it be.

“Okay, we’ll be here when you’re ready,” Bradley tells you.

“Don’t wait up,” you tell him before turning to Jake. “Take me home.”

* * *

Jake had never seen you so angry in the short amount of time he’d known you. The only time he’s seen you angry, that anger was directed at him. He didn’t know what made you flip the switch, but he knew he needed to get you home to relax.

Pulling into his driveway, he glances at you in his passenger seat–distant and staring off into space again.

He clears his throat before saying, “Can I carry you inside?”

“Sure,” you whisper.

He jumps out of his truck before opening your door and helping you out of the seat belt, carrying you bridal-style again. With expert precision, he kicks the door handle to open the front door before closing it once he’s inside and carrying you into your room. Once you’re safe on the bed, he begins to rummage through the drawers of the cabinet, looking for something more comfortable for you to wear. When he sees that every single drawer is empty, he frowns and turns to you.

“Where are your oversized t-shirts?” he asks you. “And why aren’t you unpacked?”

“They’re in my duffle bag,” you say, pointing to the bag on the floor. “I haven’t felt it was the…right time yet.”

Jake sighs when he can’t find them and instead walks into his room across the way, grabbing his favorite Texas Longhorns t-shirt and tossing it on the bed next to you. He goes back into your duffle bag and grabs a pair of what he thinks are pajama shorts before turning to you with a softness he only reserved for women he cared about.

“I’m gonna help you get changed, is that okay?” he asks, holding his hands up.

He watches as your eyes widen and you hug your legs close to your chest, heart breaking at the sight of it all.

“I promise, I won’t try anything,” he adds.

“That’s not it,” you tell him. Confused, Jake frowns and sits on the edge of the bed, waiting for you to continue.

You sigh and say, “I have scars.”

“That’s okay.”

“From when I was taken,” you whisper.

“That’s okay, Y/N,” he tells you again. “I’m not easily squeamish.”

He watches you eye him, eyes narrowed and searching. You take a few deep breaths before nodding and straightening your legs.

You stand before raising your hands, allowing him to pull your shirt up revealing the black bra you chose for the day but also the scars on your stomach. When you turn around to remove the bra, he has to hold in the sharp intake of air when he sees the lash marks up and down your back.

He almost reaches out to touch one fo the scars but stops when you whisper, “You can put the shirt on now.”

Jake does, pulling the material down over your head and watching as you poke your arms through the sleeves. It was almost adorable how long and baggy the shirt was on you. He would say this had it been any other time, but now? It wasn’t the right time.

“I’m gonna help with the pants, okay?” he tells you.

“Okay,” you respond. Turning back around to face Jake to find him already on his knees before you.

The only time Jake has ever knelt before a woman was purely for sexual reasons but right now, it felt like the most vulnerable he could be–only for you.

He tentatively reaches for the button of your jeans before pulling the zipper down and snaking the pants down your legs. His eyes remain on your jeans, only looking up and away after you’ve stepped out of them. He grabs the pajama shorts from the bed and keeps his eyes on the shorts. You place your hands on his shoulders and he tenses up at your touch. Not because he’s uncomfortable with you touching him, but because of how delicately you’re hodling him.

Almost as if you didn’t want to be hurting him.

Jake instead focuses on the shorts before him as he glides them up your thighs, stopping when he sees a branding scar in the shape of a skull and bones on your right hip.

“That was him,” you tell him. “My parting gift.”

Jake blinks away the anger bubbling up inside him and instead, finishes pulling the shorts up, tying them in place and holding your hips before looking up at you.

“I’m so sorry, Y/N,” he says in a hushed voice.

“It’s fine.”

“It’s not,” he tells you. “You didn’t deserve whatever it was you went through.”

He watches as your breath hitches before turning away. He watches in horror as your face crumples into sadness, tears beginning to fall from your cheeks.

“I can’t stop thinking about it,” you tearfully admit. “After Nick hit me the other day, I’ve been dreaming about those nights. I can’t get them out of my mind and of course, if I tell my therapist, she’ll make me go in-patient again. I can’t go back there. I can’t.”

Jake stands, immediately scooping you into his arms and huggin g you like he’s never hugged anyone before. Your sobs ripple through the air and break his heart even more than it was before.

“Why not? Would it be so bad?” he asks.

“They all think I’m crazy,” you hiccup. “I can’t stand the pitying look they give me. Which is also why I never tell Bradley or Nat anything. I don’t want them to worry.”

Jake smoothes your hair, rubbign small circles on your bicep with his fingers. He only nods into your hair and allows you to finish.

“God, I was such an asshole to them earlier,” you cry. “I can’t believe I let my anger just run like that. I should’ve–”

“You don’t have anything to worry about,” Jake interrupts. “They understand you’re going through something right now.”

“I shouldn’t have been so rude though,” you tell him. “I feel bad.”

“You’re just doing what you needed to do to keep your mind from breaking. Don’t ever apologize for that,” he tells you. He pulls you away from him, tilting your head up to face him. “You can be an asshole to me. I can take it.”

“I’m sorry I’m dumping all of my shit on you,” you say softly, wiping your eyes.

Jake smiles down at you before saying, “Come on, I have a good way to distract you from everything.”

* * *

Two hours and a few rounds of Mario Kart later, you’re screaming at Jake to let you win.

“I don’t play nice, Sweetheart,” he laughs when you lose again.

“I’ve lost every freaking round and I’m so mad!” you half yell and laugh.

“Sucks to suck, nerd,” Jake says, causing you to throw a pillow at his head and make him laugh harder. “Don’t mess with the master of Mario Kart.”

“I demand a rematch,” you tell him, crossing your arms over yoru chest.

“Okay, do you like Uno?” he asks.

“Like it?” you smile. “You may be the master of Mario Kart, but I’m the queen of Uno.”

“Let’s see what you’re made of, Bullseye,” he says, pulling out a deck of Uno cards and shuffling them.

“Let’s bet on the game,” you tell him.

“Yeah?”

“If I win, you get us pizza for the night,” you smile. “But if you win, I’ll buy pizza.”

Jake pretends to think about it, making a show to tap his chin before smiling and saying, “Deal.”

One hour later

“I swear you cheated,” Jake says, tossing his pizza crust on the pizza box.

You laugh and bite off a piece of your crust before saying, “I told you I was the queen of Uno.”

“You did tell me and I thought you were bluffing,” he chuckles. “Alright, what’re we doing next?”

“We can watch a movie,” you suggest.

“Sure, what’re you into?”

“I like all sorts of movies,” you tell him.

“I have the perfect one for you,” he smiles mischeivously.

Half way into The Conjuring, you’re bundled into a blanket and leaning on Jake when you say, “If they would’ve just left the house, none of this would be happening.”

“That’s true,” he agrees.

“I hope you know, we’re gonna have to watch something else after this,” you tell him.

“Why? Are you scared?” he teases.

“No, but I might have to sleep in the same room as you,” you nervously laugh.

“Sounds fine to me,” he tells you.

You barely make it to the middle of Tangled when you’re fast asleep next to Jake, head resting on his shoulder. He smiles, watching you sleep so peacefully beside him.

He moves forward, wrapping an arm around you and helping you lay on the couch. Jake brushes a few strands of hair away from your face before gently covering you with a blanket.

However, before he can get too far, you grab his hand and whisper, “Please don’t leave.”

He smiles down at you, kissing your hand before sinking back down onto the carpeted floor.

“I’ll be right here when you wake up.”

1. Eternal Butler 🇹🇼 (5/12)

I really don't like this one that much. Why am I still here? The plot is hiding, the acting is playing catch with the writing. Some emotions are shining through and yet this feels very muh bland.

2. Futtara Doshaburi 🇯🇵 (4/7)

My intention was to talk about what a nice social study this show is. How the lack of sex can make you feel this insecure and lost and that the missing communication is not helping. I wanted to talk about how much Nakarai is longing for some physical touch, some love, not just sex and how this situation is slowly eating him up. And then there was the preview and my mind went "oh." Just "oh". See you next week.

3. I'll Turn Back This Time 🇨🇳 (2/6)

Okay, just time travel this time. Cut the step brothers. I enjoyed this episode and Shen Nan building a connection with Gu Shi Wen. I still don't understand the time travel and the changes that been made because of it, but I hope we get a little more information in the future.

4. Ossan's Love Thailand 🇹🇭 (4/12)

What in the Luigi is happening here? This series is really challenging me. The only thing I kinda like is Mix's acting and the soundtrack. The OST is so funny. The show? Not so much. It is really difficult to watch. Just not my humor.

5. Sangmin Dinneaw 🇹🇭 (5/8)

This series is such a rollercoaster. One moment they are sweet and innocent and the other second they are eating each other! And everyone beside the main couple is just pure chaos. I watch it only half, because I can't watch most of the cringe scenes. And now I am kinda curious what Sangmin's secret is.

6. Study Group 🇰🇷 (4/10)

I like the study group. They are all such characters. And I really enjoy the fight-scenes. So the study group is finally complete and now they are fighting evil bastards? I guess. And I am here for it. But I am so sorry Cha WooMin. Ever since Weak Hero Class 1 I can't like you. You hurt me too much! And now you're a villain again? Damn!

7. ThamePo Heart That Skips A Beat 🇹🇭 (8/13)

Oh you mother of all slow burn! This is pure torture for them and for us! And I love every bits of it! So we finally get Jun telling his intentions (I was right, yeah!) and Thame showed again why he is the greenest flags of them all! He is such a fair player and a loyal friend, who wouldn't sacrifice one or the other, but wants Po to make the decision. Only Jun already knew that Po already likes Thame (and like everyone else knows too). I didn't like the fact that Jun told Thame and Po about their mutual crush, but without him, let's be honest, they would still just stare at each other. And yes, I was screaming at my screen "Just kiss already", but this is such a delightful torture of a slow burn! Really delicious! And we got some hand holding. But Thame... your idea putting Po's hand in your pocket and nobody will know is just dumb. But they hold hands! AHHHHH! And next week... AHHHHHH!

8. The Heart Killers 🇹🇭 (10/12)

Joong really delivered in this episode. His single tears were so good. Fadel breaking down and allowing Style to comfort him, to protect him, to love every side of him was indeed beautiful. The series is not good, but this episode was quite good. But Mama being the bad guy here. Who was surprised? Be honest.

The question for me this episode was: Why do you think Rak can't have a happy family and someone who cares about him with Fah? Why do you think he needs a woman for that? The father really annoyed me with his I don't want to talk about it attitude. He is just worried? He wouldn't be worried if Fah was a woman. I understand where they were coming from with this plot line, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. What I still love about this series is the communication, especially between the mains. And that Rak didn't sacrifice his relationship in the end, but he stood by his man and so did Fah. I love them!

Somewhere along the way I lost interest. I don't like the trope of noble idiocy and that kinda ruins my wish to continue the series. And while it might fit into the narrative, I still don't like it. And so I didn't like the ending. Well, the ending itself was okay and it felt real. Coming out to the friends and family would have not fit the plot. I liked that about the series. Overall a strong start, a mediocre middle and a weaker ending. I give it a 7 out of 10.

See Your Love 🇹🇼

I went into this without any expectations. And damn, I am so happy I could binge this one. I loved it! They are so cute. The height difference is adorable! The story might came a little bit short, but but the characters and their developments and relationships made this series really enjoyable. I love how enthusiastic Yang Zixiang learned sign language. You could see, that this was important for him. The depiction of disability was good and well performed. The side-couple is the only thing that was not for me. I give it a strong 9,5 out of 10.

Fourever You Project 🇹🇭

I just binged this one. I started for Johan and North and I stayed for them. And for the others beside Hill and Ter. I adore Pond. I loved him in 180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us. But this series was not for him. He and Earth have no chemistry together. Perhaps I don't like the typecast of Earth. Most of the times his characters annoy me and he isn't allowed to play an adult. And with Pond there was no spark on my screen. Other with Maxky and Bas. Their characters were goo. The chemistry was good. Their story was good and not that cliche-loaded as HillTer's was. I want to know what is going on with the other two, Tonfah and Arthit. The plot was a college bl. Plain, good ol' college bl. Nothing more nothing less. I admit I skipped most of Hill and Ter's scenes after Johan and North got the lead. I give it a 7 out of 10.

If the first episodes of the week made me uncomfortable..these last two have been a rollercoaster of emotions.

Usually, when I watch this kind of show I cried a lot. For the impossible loves, the unfair destiny, the desire that goes beyond every social law and every rational thoughts.

Well, seeing Marta de La Reina forced to come out to her father was something that doesn't made me cry.

It made me angry and sad, made me reminder some conversations with my mother and feel all the emotions that Marta felt in those moments.

At the same time I felt the gratitude for a lot of things, first for living in this era - even with all of its problems - and not back then.

Gratitude towards all the Martas of the time, because we know that this kind of conversation has happen at the time.

Gratitude for be able to see this story, so well written and even better acted that all of us were in these scenes, suffering with Marta and having her back emotionally.

For a brief second I even thought that Damian, when he was walking towards his daughter, was going to hug her at the end. Then I remember that he is the person who had cover Jesus worst actions, didn't tell Digna the truth, blackmailed Andres and Begoña for their love and pay for Valentin's false death certificate and for a fake letter to convince his son to marry a woman he doesn't love.

And in front of him Marta have always had to do more and to be more perfect than her brothers, so - even if her "sin" really didn't hurt anyone - Damian can't allow her to be who she really is.

Instead do you know when I cried? When Marta goes to Fina's apartament to tell her everything and she can't even speak at first because when she sees her at first she admires her in all of her beauty and she thinks that maybe it's really over for them but then Fina, after the initial fear, reassures Marta like only her can do reminding her that she won't give up, she will never leave her, never, no matter what.

And they start to think and realize that they have to fight against whoever want to hurt them. Together, always together.

All of this is perfectly shown when Marta come back home and talk again with her father: she is more sure of herself, of her Love, she knows that Fina will never leave her side and she clearly verbalize this self-awarness to Damian: "it's you the one who didn't understand. We are in love and it is a clean and honest love, I don't feel that I am doing anything bad so nobody or nothing is going to separate us.

Do you want to report us? DO IT!"

With the last line Marta de La Reina get out of the room with her head held higher then ever. And I can't be more proud of her journey and to be a part of a community that shows courage every single day.

alright, I'm in need of a palate cleanser, TADC Episodes ranking because why not

Now that Episode 4's marked the (almost) halfway point of the show it's as good a time as any to do a personal ranking and also I want to procrastinate working on more angsty fanart as much as possible for my own sanity

Mystery of Mildenhall Manor

What is there that I can even add to this conversation, the episode is fucking stellar. Pomni and Kinger's dynamic is impeccable start to end and I'm a sucker for anything remotely resembling the found family trope so that just further elevates my opinion, and as both an avid Zooble enjoyer and a very un-cis person their subplot hit me hard. And oh my God, the hallway scene, it's still my single favorite moment in the entire show. The soundtrack, the atmosphere, the gorgeous visuals, the emotional build-up from the conversation beforehand, I want to just absorb the essence of this scene into my bone structure. I've watched this episode twice so far and both times the hallway scene almost made me cry. I'd recommend this in a heartbeat to someone who isn't even interested in TADC or the wider genres it belongs to, it's just that fucking good.

2. Fast Food Masquerade

It is. Probably not that hard to figure out where I stand on this episode considering how much I've been annoying every TADC tag under the sun the past 72 hours. I absolutely adored this episode, was literally everything I wanted and more based on the promo material. I love Gangle, her storyline about hiding her depression hit way too hard, I love Zooble, I love Gangle and Zooble being gay as fuck, I love Ragatha being absolutely fried the entire episode, I love Jax showing three whole seconds of human decency. Gummigoo. Oh my God. With how much praise I just threw Episode 3's way it's probably weird to learn I actually think Episode 4 is an overall better episode (by a very thin margin, but still), it just gave us a lot more interactions and development with the group as a whole which is something we were mostly lacking in up until this point usually due to the group being separated at some point or another during an adventure. In all honesty if Episode 3 didn't have the hallway scene I'd probably put it in this spot, but it does and the hallway scene fucks so Episode 4 is down here.

3. Candy Carrier Chaos

Again, what can I even add to this conversation. A great expansion after our first taste of TADC, Gummigoo solos, I love sentient AIs undergoing existential crises as they come to terms with the implications of their existence. My one major complaint (which I had back when the episode first released and it's just been amplified with the last two episodes' releases) is just that we don't get much content of any of the main cast besides Pomni, their interactions are surface-level and don't offer us basically anything new from what we saw of them in the pilot. But that also wasn't what the episode was about so I can mostly give it a pass.

4. PILOT

The pilot was a very good jumping off point for the series and is decent as a standalone, but after rewatching it about a month or two back I don't think it's aged all that well. Again, it's still a perfectly fine watch and does its job of setting up all the stepping stones for the series, but the best way I can describe the pilot is…cluttered. It's just a lot of information and events you need to fit into one twenty-minute episode, so most of the episode goes at a breakneck pace in between a lot of back-to-back jokes that sometimes miss the mark (mostly the fault of Caine, I love him but he is definitely a character who is most effective in short bursts of screentime). You can definitely tell they were still trying to get a feel of things while making this episode and that's completely fine! It's a pilot, that's the whole point. Just doesn't really hold up when compared to its successors.

PART 43 SPOILERS

It's a marginally less important fact comparative to literally everything else that happened this episode, but the one little part that has been grating on my mind like a splinter, for the entire month I've been able to stew on this, is that while in the Dark World, John had a kingdom.

A kingdom. "Of sorts."

The implications of this are fascinating; yes , you can view it as John regressing. A relapse, perhaps, falling back on his old ways in a moment of fear and uncertainty and anger and spite, but what if it was more than that, not just a byproduct of emotions running high? What the reaction was...lower...than that, more foundational, more base?

What if it was instinct?

What if it was purpose?

We've known now, for a long long time, that names serve as a core theme: the duality of Noel and Charlie, of Andrew and Wallace, of John and the King, of every single one of Arthur's aliases, reinforced even more so now by the christening of Yorick. It's the dichotomy of choosing names or being named. Active. Passive. We've known this.

We’ve heard time and time again that names have power, and we know that form follows function, and we know that Kings are meant to rule. That is their purpose, that is their function, that is what they do.

And it makes me wonder then, what was the King's role in the Dreamlands? What purpose did he serve? In Part 14, way back in the beginning, John, with his limited memory, says, “As powerful as [the KiY] is, he doesn’t own this domain.”

He doesn't own it, yet he rules it. We know now that there are creatures, monsters, gods, with considerably more power than Hastur. Shub-Niggurath, Nyarlathotep, fucking Azathoth, Lord of All things, Supreme Deity of not just the Great Old Ones, but the Outer Gods. Relatively, the King in Yellow ranks low. Incredibly low. Yet, the Dreamlands, are his, or as far as he is allowed to claim them as his.

And I think hes allowed to be in charge because he serves a function there. He has a role. Greater than his own whims and desires, perhaps known to him, or perhaps so base an instinct that its second nature, easy as breathing.

In Part 40, right before Kayne casts Larson and Company, he says “Tell Yellowhead that the Dreamlands is a lawless waste without him, will you?”

A lawless waste. Lawless. Without him. Without him, there is no law.

And That is the King's function.

He is Order. He is Control. He is Structure. He is King.

And who better to instill that structure than a being that cloaks itself in madness?

Conflicting forces can only exist in opposition to each other - you cannot have light without having known darkness, you cannot have death without first having life - and you cannot have madness without having once been sane. These two facets are not contradictory, they are complimentary, two halves of a single whole. Two sides of the coin.

John was regressing - yes - when he returned to the Dark World. He was losing his humanity, losing the very thing that made him more than just a function, more than just the King. He was lost and afraid, uncertain and weary, and so of course he would settle back into his function, back into subjugation and terror and madness, because it was easy, because he wasn't quite as human as he could have been, because it felt right, because it was all he had known how to do before all of this, in all of those eons before. Of course he would fall back on old ways. Of course he would. He would try desperately to apply structure to a world bereft of it, because without Arthur, without humanity, he knew nothing else.

But hes not that anymore, not just a function. He's not King. He's John. And John, in the words of the witch, may she rot in hell forevermore, has "decided to be something that robs the world of its King." But this world doesn't need that function, that King. It doesn't need John's rule. He is a cog, broken free from the machine, and he is whatever he wants to be.

♥️Reveling in Richonne - TOWL

#1: The Hand (1.01)

The level of excitement, anxiety, joy, and anticipation I felt just before pressing play on the TOWL premiere was so high. My Richonne was finally coming back. 🥹 And man did they just snatch my heart for an entire hour with their return. I already knew seeing them again would be euphoric, but it was even more than I could have guessed. And the TOWL premiere dives right in with a very emotional, wild, and impactful first few minutes...

When deciding on a deadline for having these RIR: Towl Edition posts ready, I figured today, July 22, would be a great kickoff day since it's the anniversary of when The Ones Who Live was first announced at SDCC. 👌🏽😊

I remember where I was the day I first saw the TOWL announcement in 2022. I was in the middle of moving to a new place and saw an article pop up on my phone with a picture of Andy and Danai hand in hand at Comic-Con. I was just happy to see them.

And then I looked down at the article’s headline and saw they were there to announce that there would be a Rick and Michonne miniseries. 🤩 I was already overjoyed by that, but then, my joy just skyrocketed even more when I saw that they were coming back specifically for a miniseries focused on Rick and Michonne’s “epic love story” with Andy, Danai, and Scott as co-creators and executive producers. 😍

I knew we were about to have an absolute feast with this show our captains cooked up - and feast we most certainly did. This 6 episode miniseries is a six-course meal. 🍽

And I think TOWL is excellent on its own and has a lot of widespread appeal but when I’ve seen people say The Ones Who Live felt like it was particularly for the Richonne fans, there’s also a very clear explanation for that: the show was made by three Richonne fans. Scott, Andy, and Danai…they’re us. 😋

And I am so grateful to them for the beautiful gift that is The Ones Who Live. 😌

So this first post is a bit longer because I gotta come out the gate extra and even offer up some thoughts on the TWD clips that they included just before the premiere starts. I really liked how it sets up TOWL and highlights the power of Richonne’s relationship.

They start by showing the iconic pilot shot of Rick on his horse riding along the barren side of a freeway as we hear his voice say, “We tell ourselves we are the walking dead.”

And then they include the iconic shot of Michonne’s TWD entrance from season 2.

They then show a clip from season 6, just a few episodes before Richonne would be canon. In the clip, Michonne is on the patio with Rick (and his elevator eyes) as she helps him see, “We’re in here together.”

I love this because in reminding Rick that they’re alive and breathing right here and now and have the room to make ASZ home it shows how Michonne was the one who helped change Rick’s motto from “We’re the walking dead” to “We’re the ones who live.” It’s one of the many ways she changed his life. 😌

They show some Say Yes moments, and you know I love that Richonne episode down. Seeing them use clips from the beloved 7.12, I remember just marveling over how years ago we were so excited just to get a single episode focused on Richonne and now we were gearing up to watch a whole miniseries dedicated to them. 🥰 Never getting over that blessing.

Rick says, “We’re gonna lose people, maybe even each other” as the clip ushers in its first gut punch of the hour by showing Rick and Michonne at their son Carl’s side after he reveals he’s been bit. 🥺

They also show Rick telling Michonne “You can lose me” in the Say Yes van and her saying “No.” We’ll talk about it more in a later post, but just as many of us suspected - Richonne cannot in fact lose each other and live on the same. While losing each other is and was physically possible, in every other way losing each other made them lose the most crucial parts of themselves.

Then they show Rick in his final TWD ep, preparing to blow up the bridge as his voiceover tells Michonne “If it’s me who doesn’t make it, you’re gonna have to lead the others forward because you’re the one who can.”

We see Michonne scream his name as Rick blows up the bridge and then they show our sweet older Judith as Rick says “Making a future for Judith, it’ll be worth it.” And I always love that 9.05 shot of Judith because of how it incorporates Rick, Carl, and Michonne with the holster, hat, and sword on her back. She along with RJ is an embodiment of their legacy and the future Richonne believed in.

Then they show Michonne slaying a walker as she says “We can make it. I’m not giving up.” And it just all really hammers home the resilience of Richonne and their love and partnership. They’ve been through so much, built so much, and lost so much, but they still stand because of each other and the family they created.

After they give us some CRM insight with clips of Jadis (😒), they show scenes of Michonne and Judith’s last conversation where they both decide Michonne will go and look for The Brave Man. I’m glad they included that because some viewers really tend to forget that Judith urged her mom to go look for her dad and Michonne left not as an act of abandonment, but as the ultimate act of love for her family.

The TWD clips ends with Michonne saying “Okay baby girl I’m gonna try” and Judith saying “Go get him.” I love that even with everyone else thinking they were crazy, Michonne and Judith never stopped believing Rick was out there. (And RJ was believing too. 🥹 But I'm getting way ahead of myself lol)

And then --- the show we’ve all been waiting for begins and the TOWL premiere has a devastatingly poignant teaser. 🥺

I like how The Ones Who Live's opener connects to the last of the TWD clips because Michonne tells her baby girl she’s gonna try and then we hear Rick’s voice start the show by saying, “I tried. Please know I tried.”

It moves me how much Rick and Michonne have been trying for each other while apart. And it’s crushing to hear Rick say 'tried' in the past tense as he now debates no longer trying anymore since he's learned he can’t be with his family again or else risk putting them in harm's way.

After years of waiting to finally see what Rick has been up to all this time, they immediately let us know it has been an excruciatingly painful existence for him without his family. 😢

I like how the shot opens with Rick facing away from the camera as he stares out the window at a cold industrial view. Rick facing away from us almost gives this sense that we know him but we also don’t fully know him anymore. He’s been through a lot we haven’t seen.

The vintage TV delivers news of a massive attack in the background and similar to the destruction on the television, Rick also feels destroyed by the CRM and at his lowest here.

Then I love how before we even see Rick's face, we see him holding one of his phone sketches of Michonne. This show did a great job of immediately setting up the way Richonne’s love would be at the center of every scene in this story.

This shot of Michonne on the phone let you know instantly that the love between Richonne is still so alive and important to Rick and the miniseries. It’s also painful because it’s like Rick is finally accepting that those little drawings really could be the last he ever gets to “see” her after fighting so hard to believe he would see her again for real one day.

And it’s very symbolic to have him look at Michonne on the phone and then see his own reflection in it. They’re one. It’s also significant that the first we see of Rick’s face is through a reflection. Again he’s him, but he’s not fully him rn. Just a reflection. And the part of him he misses most is his other half - Michonne.

One of the tragic aspects of these two soulmates being separated for so long is that Rick and Michonne were not the type of couple who needed absence to make the heart grow fonder. Like they didn’t need to lose each other to realize how special their love was. When they were together they were fully aware of the gift their relationship was in their lives and they treasured their love deeply and out loud.

So being apart has only heightened what Rick and Michonne already knew full well which is that they are the love of each other's lives. They’re everything to each other. They knew it back then. And they know it still now, even after being away from each other longer than they’ve been together.

It’s such a big deal for Rick to look at this phone in this moment as he contemplates ending it. I noticed that anytime Rick thinks he’s about to die, he thinks of Michonne. It's as though he’s eager for his last moment of life and his last thought to be of her so that he can end on some semblance of a positive note.

When he’s on the bridge in TWD 9.05, Michonne is his last hallucination. When he later chops off his hand and fades out of consciousness he dreams of her. And here when he contemplates dying by his own hand, he looks at this image of her just before. It makes me think of that TikTok that went viral about a man saying his last breath will be his wife’s name. That is definitely Rick’s mindset and I love that Richonne’s love runs that deep.

Rick looks out with tears in his eyes - just sadness personified - and then he stares at the shard of glass in his hand, contemplative, before putting the glass to his neck. The acting Andy does in this moment is incredibly powerful and painful. I know award shows disappointingly tend to completely sleep on the performances from the TWD cast but truly to me he secured every award nomination just within his first few seconds of being on screen.

There’s something so viscerally vulnerable about this moment as Rick stares at the glass really wondering if after everything he’s been through and overcome, it’s really come to this - meeting his demise by his own hand with a little piece of glass.

Plus with how resilient Rick is, it’s like we see this massive internal fight to go against everything in him that’s a survivor and actively choose to stop surviving once and for all.

My heart just instantly broke from this teaser because while yes we know Rick won’t go through with it, to know that he was even in the headspace of this makes me hurt for him deeply. To think he was ready to potentially just go out, alone, depressed, never seeing his family again and them never knowing he was out there, feeling like a failure. It’s extremely dark.

Throughout his time on TWD, Rick’s journey has been as much a mental battle as it has been an external battle and as we saw in the TWD pilot, Rick is extremely perseverant but without his family, he is not opposed to just ending it.

And now, he's tried so hard for so many years to get back to Michonne and Judith, he stayed alive off the memory of family and the hope of being with family again - But once he realized it was no longer an option unless he risked putting the ones he loves in immense danger, that was it for him. In this moment he no longer sees the point in living if he has to live without his wife and daughter. 🥺

I found it powerfully poignant to have a show called The Ones Who Live begin by having Rick about to take his life. It shows that for Rick, there’s an asterisk on that motto because he feels he’s only 'the one who lives' if he gets to live with Michonne. It’s either ‘the ones who live together’ or nothing at all for Rick.

So he nearly goes through with this attempt. Even draws some blood on his neck...but then he stops. Thank goodness. 🙏🏽 He sucks his teeth and sighs as he stares at the shard of glass looking defeated but also resolved that he can’t go through with it. Not like this.

Through this teaser, we instantly get his state of mind. He can’t end it all but he’s been in so much pain that it feels like the only way through is to die. It’s utterly tragic. 🥺

And I truly feel like part of why Rick couldn’t go through with it is because he and Michonne genuinely are one. So his life is not just his to take.

So long as Michonne is still out there and her heart is still beating then his heart still has to beat too, even if he has to die in other ways to somehow go on without her. We’ll also learn more about why he doesn’t go through with it in his heartbreakingly romantic last letter to Michonne, but we’ll get there. 👌🏽

So then we see the back of Rick again as he ends the night accepting his dreary fate to live but truly as the walking dead from now on. And I really like how the show explores the dark and damaging side of having to tell yourself you’re the walking dead. As well as the dark side of being 'the one who lives' even when everything in you wants to quit living because now you have to live without those you love.

When Rick gave the speech about his grandpa and them being the Walking Dead in TWD 5.10, Daryl responded saying, “We ain’t them.” Rick agreed with that because so long as you have family you aren’t the Walking Dead.

But that’s the thing - Rick hasn’t had his family for years and so he really did have to become the Walking Dead. But as he’ll say at the end of the series (jumping way ahead again, I know lol) he thought he was alone, but he wasn’t. His kids and wife especially were still believing in him and still loving him out there.

I like to think that just like Michonne could feel Rick out there with all the love he was emitting from afar toward her, Rick too could feel all the love she was emitting to him and it kept him here a bit longer. And thank goodness for that because my beloved Rick Grimes' story deserves a bright positive ending, not one this dark and depressing, after everything he's been through.

As the teaser ends and Rick stares into the CRM void, I like the score. The music almost feels like a menacing weighed-down heartbeat which is fitting.

And then there's the beautiful title sequence, which I adore the music and every Richonne image during the theme song. I like how it starts with Rick and Michonne in each other's arms from season 8, letting you know that while the teaser was very dark, there is light coming and that light is called Richonne.

(Also, I really wanted Rick to see Michonne in her corset armor during the show but since he didn’t, I’m glad there’s at least a gorgeous image of the two of them together during the theme song that includes her in the armor.)

I also liked the way the first ep just shows Rick under the title since it’s a Rick-centric episode and then the second episode has just Michonne under the title for the Michonne-centric episode. All and all, this whole opener was a very impactful way to kick off the show and set the tone for what Rick has been through and become in the years he's been away.

All the chatter from certain parts of the audience who thought Rick would move on and even have a new family in the Civic Republic was immediately dispelled because those speculations were always a ridiculous misunderstanding of the character. He found his everything in Michonne so of course he’s still as in love with her now as he was the day we last saw them together in season 9. Just like Michonne still stayed in love with him.

I love that they both refused to move on from each other and operated as in love as ever. And because they held onto that love, even when it felt like all was lost, that love was able to return to them. 👌🏽

So next, we get into some action as we’re taken to 5 years after the bridge. We see Rick and his iconic walk as he stands in the forest with other consignees. And it was such a joy to see him back on screen and know we were finally going to get the continuation of his story. 🙌🏽

Rick holds a CRM hatchet, which also feels symbolic because it’s similar to one of his signature TWD weapons, but it’s marked by the CRM showing they’ve in many ways attempted to claim him.

Rick is also the only consignee with a leash, clearly illustrating that he’s a lil different than the rest. He’s the one who doesn’t want to be here and will try to escape if given the chance and the CRM knows this about him. Along with attempting to claim him, this leash makes it feel like the CRM is also attempting to tame him like he's a defiant animal.

Rick runs to take out walkers and again seeing him back in action is such a sight for sore eyes. He’s still got it. 👌🏽 However, because he looks all healthy and strong I think some can miss that Rick is still very much in mental disarray from battling the psychological torment of being taken and trapped all these years. Like he might look normal and fine (and I do mean that in all the ways 😇) but he's not mentally healthy right now.

(Side note: I really love the look of this whole night scene with the deep blues and fiery reds. The budget was doing its thing in TOWL. 👏🏽🔥)

So Rick runs far enough that the leash pulls him to the ground. A soldier yells at him and he says “Sorry. Trying to find my axe.” Look at our cute little liar. 😋

And then the show gets right into the wildness by having Rick put a belt around his arm and proceed to chop off his own hand. It’s insane😳.

It's also very reminiscent of when Negan nearly made Rick chop off Carl’s arm in the season 7 premiere. Chopping his own hand off in these woods was more doable for Rick than had he had to chop off Carl’s arm because it’s his family he cares about far more than himself.

As Rick prepares to do the chop he repeats “This is how” as in this is how he gets home. It hurts my heart that he feels this is the only way.🥺

But it's really moving to see that he’s willing to do something this intense to get back to his love. Also, this is 5 years after the bridge, so this means that even a half a decade later Rick was still as determined as ever to break free and get back to Michonne.

The people I watch with and I had a whole discussion on whether chopping the hand the way he did was daftly executed by the show considering it’s such an extreme thing to do in this situation where Rick was never going to successfully get away bleeding out like that with CRM soldiers so close by.

But my argument was that the 'ill-thought-out' element of this escape plan is part of the point.

For 5 years atp, Rick has been isolated from all love and warmth and is deteriorating mentally day by day. In this extremely damaged state, he’s not thinking straight, and cutting off his hand is a last-ditch effort that shows he will try absolutely anything, sound or unsound, to get back to Michonne and Judith.

Yes, he possibly could have just cut off the thumb or hacked at the leash but the extreme approach Rick took also conveys that he’s not all there right now and he’s as desperate as he’s ever been to finally break free and go home. It also informs us that his more sane escape attempts haven't worked and so now Rick Grimes is willing to try the insane stuff to get back to his family.

Think about the mindset he has to be in to go against natural human instinct and chop off his own hand. It’s crazy, but it immediately lets us know that even the most impractical solutions are now what it’s come to for him.

So basically, if it seems super reckless for him to do it this way, that’s the intention imo. He’s so worn down and off mentally from his debilitating circumstances that he’ll do anything whether it’s the wise thing or not, he doesn’t care anymore. Anything to get back to her.

The traditional saying is 'asking for her hand in marriage,' but here we see Rick, the ultimate lover boy, be like 'What if I literally give my hand for my marriage.' If there’s one thing TOWL made perfectly clear it’s that Rick and Michonne have crazy love. 💯

And while yes his escape plan could have been more thought through, my baby Rick did show some smart thinking by putting the ax in the fire to make the chop easier so you gotta give him that. 😌👌🏽

After he cuts off his hand this horror music plays as Rick proceeds to make a run for it. He has to lean behind a tree dazed as he bleeds profusely.

It’s crazy because the last time we saw Rick in a full episode of TWD he was bleeding out and now here he is intensely injured again and going through the wringer. I was so eager for whenever this man would finally get some much-deserved rest.

Rick then has the strength to take out a walker and cauterize the wound by plunging his arm into the fire inside it. This whole thing was an effective way to show early that one; Rick is built different and two; this man will endure literally anything to get home. And home is very much not a place but his wife and daughter.

So then he tries to make a run for it as CRM soldiers near closer and I honestly think with this being his fourth escape attempt this was really a “go home or die trying" attempt. Like I think Rick knew that dying tonight was a very real possibility.

The soldiers knock Rick down and he lays on the ground defeated and drained as he stares at the burning corpse of a walker that’s certainly meant to reflect how he feels as well. Almost like the burning desire to go home has officially consumed him and taken him out.

Feeling like a corpse himself, Rick fades out of consciousness as soldiers approach. And then we get to enter Rick’s lovely mind and see where he goes when at his wit's end.

And y’all, these first two TOWL scenes to analyze were pretty hefty, dark, and depressing, so it’s time we get to something lighter and happier to dive into. And what’s better and brighter than Rick’s beautiful dream world with his beautiful dream girl? 😌👌🏽🌟

Alicent is unfortunately not the only lifeless portrayal in the show. I have to talk about my pookie. Daemon Targaryen, a fandom fave, grrm's fave (one of them), legendary, quintessential Targaryen prince, "both a great man and a monster", "the most admired, most beloved, most reviled in all Westeros", "made of light and darkness in equal parts", "to some a hero, to others the blackest of villains" (paraphrazing).

Now that is something isn't it? Except that I didn't see that Daemon.

The deal with Daemon is simple. Book!Daemon was, first of all, fiercely attached to his family and that part is extremely important for his characterization. That man was blindly devoted to his house, to his wife and to their kids, adopted or biological. That was his drive, that was his purpose, that was his inner logic. Secondly, that man was nuts. Genuinely terrifying, the "you touch my kin and you will be sorry you were born" kind of terrifying. The "I will not stop until I turn every single person who wronged my family to ashes, man, woman, or child" kind of terrifying.

And they violated his brother's will. They usurped his wife's throne. They murdered his boy. They dared make a fool out of him and tear his family apart, two clowns barely into adulthood, a whiny nun and an old man who faints at the sight of a dragon. These people did this to him. Like, can you even?

Daemon should be fucking seething. He should be coming down on these clowns like a ton of bricks. The mere mention of his name should make them tremble in terror. Blood and Cheese was his moment, and it was the moment of the Dance. Now Matt did a very good job conveying all of this up until Blood and Cheese but attributing Blood and Cheese to an oopsie severely underplayed Daemon's impact. Of course, the reason the writers made BxC a misunderstanding is simply the fact that they couldn't do otherwise, after what they did with Lucerys' murder. Show!Daemon, as he stands, could not unambiguously and straightforwardly order the murder of Helaena's son without turning into a cartoonish Ramsay type of villain, and this, because the writers have not established one of his two defining traits which is, again, his fierce, blind devotion to his wife and kids. Show!Daemyra is weak, Daemon's fatherhood is downplayed. This is a part of the general problem of the characters of the show feeling flat and vague in their motivations. The show may have included some intellectually stimulating changes, in all its anti monarchy blablabla glory, but in their effort to achieve that they stopped giving the characters space to feel, love, rage and form deep, unbreakable bonds with eachother which motivate the entirety of their actions. In the entire show the moments of pure, unfiltered, real emotion are extremely rare, and Daemon is a victim of that.

Since they have not established that emotional core for him, they cannot go full force on his vilest act either. The two go hand in hand. The one motivates the other. Of course you're gonna tell me that in the show, he still orchestrated Blood and Cheese and he is still technically responsible for everything that happened. Matt was still seething with fury throughout the entire episode. Fine. It is still far less impactful than the book version, far less powerful, far less horrifying, because the motivation behind it is flimsy, because Daemon's characterization is hollow. In the book, Daemon was both greater and meaner. He was just more, in every category. In the show, he didn't give me that "oh my fucking god" shocking moment I felt when I read the source material y'all call boring (!) in comparison to the adaptation.

Daemon's moral core is his family. Period. For his family, he becomes the blackest of monsters, without scruples and without mercy. That's what "light and darkness in equal parts" means. Both are necessary. The show ironically managed to dim both his good side and his evil side and turn this proud, fearsome, horrible, legendary Targ into a whiny man whose toy got stolen. Not the vibe. I hope they do better with the battle above god's eye.

You felt it again.

The same horrid feeling in the pit of your stomach, making its way to your chest. You could feel your heartbeat pumping loudly that it was too unbearable to listen. Your whole body was shaking in anxiety, your breath felt clogged.

It was too hard to breath.

You remembered the technique Jaemin had taught you.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat.

That happened for the past few minutes and unfortunately, no progress was made. If anything, you felt more suffocated than ever and you wanted nothing more than to be in the arms of your loving boyfriend.

You hesitated for a split second, afraid that you would feel like a burden. However, you could recall his words very clearly.

"Always come to me."

And so you did. As you stumbled your way to the bedroom to grab your phone, you shakily typed in the message you were going to send to your boyfriend.

You: Jaemin, I feel scared again.

As you awaited for his reply, the dreaded emotions you felt was impossible for you to stay composed. Beating your chest with your fist to stop the haunting sounds that were fueling in your anxiety.

Not a minute later, you hear a light 'ding' from your phone, indicating a text. Your heart felt more broken than ever when you read the text aloud.

Nana 💞: I'm busy rn

Nana 💞: Just do what we've been doing.

You frowned at his text. Not expecting it to sound harsh but you let it slide, thinking it was just your overthinking mind that was making you think negative thoughts and that he was probably doing his best to help you.

You: I can't. I've tried.

You: I need you here, Jaemin.

The speech bubble went on and off. You could tell that he was having trouble replying to you, but nevertheless, a part of you hoped that he would be on his way.

Nana 💞: You can handle it, Y/N.

Nana 💞: I can't always be thr to help you.

Nana 💞: I don't have time.

Nana 💞: I gotta go.

And just like that, he went offline. Despite a few more texts you sent, telling him that you needed him, you were only met with a single tick. You felt defeated as ever as you tried to remain calm. Deep down, you were disappointed in him but more so in yourself. You should've known from the start that you shouldn't have been too depended on someone to take care of you. You were beating yourself up for even having the thought of disturbing Jaemin.

He had always been there for you and this was one of the few times he wasn't home and yet you couldn't even handle it. God, how useless could you be.

You quickly dashed towards the front of the house, leaving your belongings behind in hopes that the fresh breeze of air would help you cool your mind.

Hours has passed and Jaemin was finally done with practice. He was feeling burnt out as ever, tired and frustated from the lack of rest he had for the past few days. As he reached for his phone, he saw the notifications from you. All of it begging him to come back home.

He felt his sanity crept back in as he realised how much he had been an ass. He was exhausted but that gave him no excuse to treat you like that. His heart dropped when he realised you were having one of your episodes and that he wasn't there to comfort you.

Picking up his steps, he rushed out of the practice room, ignoring the calls from his members. He didn't care anymore. The only thing filling up his mind was making sure that you're okay now.

Opening the front door and kicking his shoes off, he made a beeline towards your shared bedroom. He frowned when he found you no where in sight.

"Y/N." He called out, scouting for you in every single corner of the room. "I'm here now, baby. Where are you?"

He could feel his worry intensifies when he received no response. He quickly dialed your number, only to hear it vibrate near the couch.

He cursed, feeling more anxious that ever, not knowing where you were. He just prays that you are safe somewhere. Making his way to the door, ready to search for you, no matter how long it will take him.

Meanwhile, you were sitting in the middle of the park. Staring into the abyss as you let your thoughts consume you. You were so deep in your thoughts that you didn't hear the voice of your relieved boyfriend, having had searched you for hours. Going as far to contact all your friends to ask them about your whereabouts. You were obviously startled when he came into your view, holding the side of your face as he looked more happy than ever to see you safe.

"Why the hell are you out this late?" He gently scolded, ushering you out of your seat.

You pulled away, "I just need some air. Don't worry, I'll get out of your way."

"Hey, baby. Don't say that." He said but you weren't listening. You couldn't.

Not when you were feeling just as shitty as you were before you left the house. Being outside did nothing to help you and now that Jaemin is here, you were only scared that you'll annoy him further

"Hey, stop." Jaemin walked in front of you, blocking your path. You attempted to move to the side but he was quick with his steps, gently wrapping his arms around your shoulder.

You winced, pushing him away but he only tightened his embrace. "Let me go, Jaemin."

"Never." He snuggled his face at the crook of your neck. "I was an asshole. I'm sorry."

You shook your head, "No, I'm sorry." Your words made Jaemin confused, "I shouldn't have bothe—"

But before you could finish your sentence, your boyfriend smashed his lips against yours, silencing your words. You yelped at the sudden contact and just as you were about to back away, he held the back of your neck, preventing you from moving. His soft lips melted against yours and you couldn't help but eventually return the kiss back.

It lasted for a moment longer before Jaemin decided that he would pull away, he looked down on you with those eyes. You were slightly intimidated by the way his face was firm, as if he was angry at you.

"No. Don't ever say that, you're never a bother."

"But I—" You were cut off.

"No buts. I was in the wrong, I broke my promise and acted like shit towards you. You have no idea how much I will hate myself for putting you in this place." He finished off.

"No, Jaemin. It's not fair for you to blame yourself. You didn't put me in this place. I did. You were always there for me, don't let this one bad experience change that." You reached over to hold his cold hands.

Jaemin held on, shaking his head gently. "Regardless, I won't ever react that way. Please forgive me."

You smiled warmly,

"Of course I forgive you, idiot."

It was as if the conflict had never even started. After the conversation, you and Jaemin felt more relieved than ever. He was still wary about your anxiety though, but you assured him that it has slowly dissipitated— your emotions felt better than ever and that you just wanted to go home now and have some rest.

However, things took a quick turn when the both of you have finally reached home and were hastily grasping each other's clothing, desperately trying to remove those layers that were preventing you from touching him bare. You didn't know who initiated first, completely forgotten who was the one who smashed their lips against the other but all you knew was that you were desperately in need to be in Jaemin's arms.

In more ways than one.

As the both of you shared soft yet sloppy kisses, he led you towards the bedroom. You were amazed at how he was able to lead you with such ease considering he had his eyes closed while having his hands and lips occupied. You didn't questioned it though and just let the event take place.

He gently laid you under the soft covers of the bed, he broke the kiss and began placing small kisses down your neck. His hands went around your legs, to have them wrapped around his waist.

"You feel that?" He groaned, pulling your thighs closer to his bulge, which caused you to moan uncontrollably.

"A-Ah, yes. It feels so good." You mewled, reaching over to his pants to unbuckle it.

He chuckled softly at your impatient state but he eventually helped you out. The next thing, you both were completely naked with his cock shoved deep inside your tight wall.
