It took Yuu nearly a week to find a book on lost lyrics, much less a book about it's convoluted history.

The prefect had only found one after they went to their last stop at Mr. Sam's shop and the man pulled out a sketchy-looking old book with 110% sus vibes from a shadowy corner of the room that Yuu swear wasn't there before.

Mr. Sam had only winked and conspiratorially whispered into Yuu's ear, "A welcoming gift from our shared friends on the other side."

Yuu decided to not delve into that whole clusterfuck and consume the (clearly forbidden) knowledge of the new book they'd found.

Apparently since the appearance of a wandering oracle a near millenia ago who composed the songs during their journey. The songs became used for battle before being deemed too dangerous to be freely used.

Hence only the leaders of the countries kept the knowledge of the songs while the rest had their memories of the lyrics wiped by a blared Beluga Sevruga incantation across the world.

The tunes remaining as an unfinished song is dangerous enough that people won't dare to sing it due to the curse still in effect.

Over time even the leaders themselves forgot bits and parts of the lyrics leading to what it is today.
