It's the last vacations before you have to write the final exams. Then your master thesis is due. And you don't even have a topic yet. This is going to be the worst Thanksgiving ever. Constantly having to answer questions about how things are going at university. And what you'll do afterwards. And when your parents will have grandchildren. And you have your head full with the topics of the exams. The best thing would have been for you to stay on campus and study.

The bus from the campus to the airport is full of exuberant students. Half the football team is on the bus with you. The fellows are bawling, farting and burping on the bus. Just like kids. Not like the future pillars of society. You're pretty jealous of them….

In the check-in line, you and a few other juniors gossip about your professors. Shit, not being able to work out together at the gym over the vacations sucks. Thanksgiving is bad for your constitution. You can already hear your mom whining when you only want rice with your turkey breast and don't want gravy. Your stomach grumbles. It's coming! "Protein fart," you grumble. Your bros join in, laughing.

Half the campus crowds the security checkpoint. You can see a few of the other sophomores. Apart from that, it's mostly older students around you. Your bruhs from the football team and you sing the team anthem. And then take turns doing chestbumps. The business travelers around you smile pained. All losers. Only envious of you.

On the plane, you don't even manage to stay awake until the security briefing. Fuck, you and the other freshmen had a hard week. Football, gym, parties. Oh yeah, and a few lectures too. Hopefully your parents don't ask about any exams. Oh fuck, then you tell them about the success of the football team. The person sitting next to you suffers from the smell of your sweat. But you had to let your muscles burn one more time before Thanksgiving dinner. And "Sun's out, guns out" is for wimps. You show your arms whenever you can. Your mom will hate it, your dad will love it. But primarily, everyone will be happy that you're coming home for the first time since you started college.

“I mean” Trish threw away the blanket she had thrown on her and got up as well “you don’t know him either but you’ve been writing about him every week, judging him-”

“I’m not judging him. I think he’s great! I’m judging the way he plays. Last night he missed 4 chances and ruined 1 because he didn’t want to pass the ball over to Junior-“ Trish had already lost interest but she let her go on for the shake of it “—I’m telling you There’s a difference, and also, it’s my job-”

“It’s not a job, it’s a hobby! Did you even finish that article about the sales, Miranda asked you for?” Taylor looked up from her computer screen slightly. Her eyes betraying her. Trish sighed, shaking her head “you’re unbelievable”

“There was a game last night- I had to watch and write a post. My fans are very demanding.”

“Fans aka creeps on a screen obsessed with football”

“Hey!” she pointed at Trish “I’m one of those creeps”

“Why don’t you just get a job at sports magazine?”

Taylor laughed, while moving the pad to get on her website. There were so many comments on last update about Kylian, it seemed she had really hit a chord. “When you find me one that doesn’t treat women like shit, I will. People find out you’re a woman in this world and suddenly your opinion has no place in their columns. It’s in fact, annoying.”

“So is staying without a job, which is what will happen if you don’t write about those goddamn sales in two hours.”

“It will only take 10 minutes, it’s fine!” she waved it off, hitting press on the new post tab but before her fingers met the keyboard, she got an inbox. She opened it quickly, it was a message from psg, one of their employees. “No shit” she mumbled, barely able to function.

“What now?”

“Galtier wants to speak to me.”

“Who’s that?” Trish walked over to her, a confused look in her face.

“It’s the coach of PSG.”

Trish stood next to her reading the message

“Dear JW.

My name is Julie Blanchet. I work for the PR of Paris-saint German.

The coach of our team, Mr. Galtier, would like to get in contact with you, so I’m tasked to arrange a meeting with you and him in Paris. Please send us an email we can communicate with or a phone. Below you’ll find my personal ID CARD attached so you won’t doubt for the authenticity of this message. Thank you very much.

Have a good day.”

She paused “well send the email what the hell are you waiting for?”

Taylor was frozen. She was thinking of all the possibilities, fearing them even. Her heart sinking.

“What’s wrong with you?”

She looked up at her friend, desperate. “Any time someone has asked to meet me and I go, they minute they see me they think I’m the assistant and they don’t even believe me when I tell them it’s me. Do I really want to fly all the way to Paris just to get that same reaction?”

Trish bit her lip and kneeled down next to her friend, giving het a sympathetic look. “Just prove to them you are better than any man they could have wished for, no matter the hell they give you. I think it’s time for you to stop hiding, chase what you actually love and put your foot down. You’ve been wasting away your time in things you don’t love for years” She smiled “in the words Kylian Mbappé-”

“Don’t- don’t you fucking dare-”

“Get a life!” she finished the sentence and Taylor jumped on her. Play fighting with her on the floor. She was actually considering it, leaving everything behind in London and chasing something new in Paris, maybe. Or just the opportunity of seeing psg playing live, well that was enough to make her quit her day job and do something spontaneous for ones.

PSG TRAINING CAMPUS / PARIS – DAY

“he hasn’t stopped coughing ever since Saturday. You know how many days is that Ky? 5 days- 5 days off listening him cough his lungs out-“ Kylian wasn’t really listening. Not that he didn’t care about Hakimi and his baby, who apparently was sick, but his mind couldn’t focus. He was pulling on the sled drags and slowly coming up. These exercises were usual for him, he did them every day but today was different, he had this heavy feeling on his stomach. He stopped and released himself from the sled drags, nudging his friend.

“Let’s go have a run.” He said quickly and was already sprinting on the open field. Snatching a ball on his way there and throwing it back on the grass, kicking it. He did a few tricks, kicking it up in there and then pushing it with his head on his friend who stepped on it and kicked it back to him.

“You ok bro?” he asked, while they exchanged passes at each other.

“Sure. I may had overreacted with the JW thing.”

Hakimi laughed “No kidding.”

“I don’t know. There’s something awfully annoying about him-“

“GUYS!” Neymar Jr. ran about to them, out of breath like he had been running from the other side of the stadium. Kylian noticed he had a weird look on his face and ducked down to get the ball while Hakimi was approaching him “I went to see Linda, you know, new secretary, upstairs. Looks very pretty today by the way-“

“To the point Junior!”

Neymar took in a few more breaths, pointing up at the offices of Galtier. “JW is here. You know, football writer, he has a website-“

“Yeah we’ve heard of him- Kylian where are you going? Kylian-“

Hakimi rushed behind his friend, who was walking very fast down the hallways. Kylian heard him yelling but he wasn’t going to stop, he wanted to meet that fool even if it got him in trouble with Galtier, see if he had the balls to say all that he was writing on his face. He brushed passed a few people who called his name until he reached the upper floor where the offices were. Linda, stood up when she saw him and walked towards him to stop him- “Mr. Galtier is in a meeting-“ The moment she said that the door opened, Galtier coming out first, Kylian moved closer to him, angry. Hakimi had just reached him, to hold him back.

“Is it true? is that fucking fool here. Where is he? Scared to come out-“ he went quiet quickly when he saw a girl coming out, no older than 25 years old. Brunette hair, hazel eyes. Holding a pile of folders in her hands. She looked small next to Galtier, she looked nervous. Kylian laughed, rubbing his face “He couldn’t even come here himself? He had to send his assistant? Who the hell are you-“

Galtier went to speak “She’s actually-“ but the small girl raised her hand to stop him, faking a smile.

“I’m Taylor. Jo’s assistant.” She answered, reaching her hand out for Kylian to shake. Kylian looked at her hand suspiciously before accepting the offer.

“Your boss is a coward, isn’t he?”

She laughed, taking back her hand. “Is there a message you want me to give him Mr. Mbappe. Except of course the one you already sent him yourself.”

Kylian backed off, placing his hands on his hips “Tell him he should keep his nose out of things he doesn’t have the knowledge on. And he was unfair for Friday’s game-“

“So you didn’t actually avoid passing the ball to Number 10 who was unmarked across from you because the defenders were occupied with the golden child, that’s you by the way, and instead chose to go with an impossible kick for the net which of course resulted to you missing a golden chance.” She spoke so quickly he could hardly follow her rhythm. She gave him a smile at the end, like she knew she had already won the argument.

Hakimi got close to him, putting his hand over his mouth and whispering repeatedly “abort, abort, abort.” Kylian had to slap him on the chest for him to stop and getaway.

“My boss writes what he sees. If you don’t like what he writes, you have to change what he sees.”

“Yes, of course!” said Galtier, in an attempt to cut the tension. Kylian was staring at Taylor like he was going to attack her any time now. “Your presence here, I’m sure will help with that.”

“Her presence?” Kylian raised his eyebrows, he could feel his anger raising as he realized what the situation he walked in on actually was.

“Yes, Miss-“

“Taylor” completed the girl, like Galtier was gonna go ahead and say something different.

“Taylor, yes. She’s here to journal your trainings and your games.”

“In what capacity?” Asked Kylian narrowing his eyes. “This doesn’t make any sense.”

“Well she’s-“

“My boss wants a better look at the team of the guy that insulted him on social media. Maybe he really was wrong. But before he gets here to apologize, we wanna make sure he won’t be wasting his time.”

“Waste—” he laughed “wasting his time? Are you boys listening to this?”

“On top of that. He is writing a special article on the website. A month with Paris Saint-Germain.” Galtier explained. Giving him the true reason of her arrival.

“Yes, of course, there’s that too.��

Kylian could understand just be her look that she only said the first part to piss him off and in all honesty she had succeeded. He walked closer to the girl, looking down at her. “He shouldn’t have sent a poor girl like you down here to clean his mess.”

“You’ll find I’m not easily intimidated sir.” She shot back “But very easily provoked.” Kylian let out another bitter laugh. He backed away, if it was a man standing across him this conversation would go a completely different way but it was just a girl. So he turned his back on her, leaving. Deep down knowing nothing about her being here would be easy and this next month would be the worst.

Another race, and another second place for both you and Theo. Solid results for you, but for Theo, it just made him angry. He was always getting second place, rarely first, and while he hated these second-place trophies, you thrived on them. He could never understand despite knowing you for a decade and being with you for nearly two years.

You decided to go out to celebrate the results with your friends that night. Theo and his friends joined once they found out you were going to the same area. That’s how you, Theo, and a large group of your friends found yourselves at a club, closing in on midnight.

At first, it was great. Everyone was partying, dancing, drinking, talking, and having the time of their lives. Well, everyone except Theo. 

He was silently fuming as he nursed his eighth drink of the night. Why? Why did he always have to come in second? Why did you always celebrate second-place finishes as if you won the championship? Why did you not see second place as the first loser? Why did he feel envious of you for the same result? Maybe it was the alcohol coursing through his veins, but the liquid courage helped him ask you about it when you stumbled over to the booth he was hiding in.

“Hi Theo,” you giggled, leaning into him as you placed a kiss on his cheek. You did not notice the way he gripped his glass harder as his thoughts ran wild. “Why aren't you celebrating with us? Is your social battery dead? We can head back to the hotel.”

“How do you handle always being in second place?” He snapped, pushing you away enough to cause you to lose your balance for a second. You sobered up a bit at his reaction. He had never been one to get jealous of your results and he was not the type of person to hurt you in any situation.

“I see it as being reliable, I guess,” You answered, taking a breath and seat across from Theo. “I am consistently getting second place and my team can rely on me to bring in good points.”

“But doesn’t it ever get to you? Never winning?” He retreated back, almost like a moment of clarity despite the amount of alcohol in his system. You took it upon yourself to grab the glass and move it out of his reach; it was time for him to get cut off.

“I don’t see it like that,” you responded immediately. You could see that he was eating himself up over second place, but you needed him to see the other side, the positive side because he was spiraling. “Second place is still great points, and that’s how I was pretty much able to secure the championship this year. I just need one more second-place finish in a feature, and I win.”

“But don’t you wish that you won every once in a while?” He asked genuinely. “Standing on the top shelf, hearing your anthem, getting the biggest trophy, just the pride in saying that you won a race. Don’t you want that?”

“I do, but I’m not going to risk everything over a small chance to lead,” you responded, semi-understanding where he was coming from. “It’s everyone’s dream to win, but if I’m consistent enough, I can win either way. So many people have won races, then didn’t finish in the points, so their points are never consistent. I would rather say that I can achieve the same results at every race than say I won a single race. I’d rather win the bigger picture.”

“How…” He trailed off, looking around the club in disbelief. He was mainly just avoiding eye contact with the woman in front of him, but he could not fully understand her train of thought. “How do you stay so positive throughout the season? I just don’t get it.”

“Because you’re drunk, Theo,” you laughed, moving to stand. “You are drowning your sorrows in alcohol. Let’s go back to the room, and when you’re sober, I’ll help change your mind about being in second place because second place is just as great as first, if not more so. You just need to see it.”

It’s Thursday night. You would both be in the cars tomorrow for the practice and qualifying sessions, but tonight, you were sitting on the couch in Theo’s room, eating room service. Theo had remembered everything from the drunk conversation, but he regretted the way he talked to you immensely.

“I just want to say I’m sorry for how I brought up the conversation at the last race party,” he admitted, turning his full attention to you. You, on the other hand, did not understand where this apology was coming from. To you, he was just being hard on himself and needed some uplifting, especially after last year’s battle against Felipe Drugovich. 

“You don’t need to apologize, Theo. You were drunk-” you started but he cut you off.

“Being drunk isn’t an excuse!”  He was generally upset with how he brought up the conversation, and he was confused that you just brush it off. “I pushed you, and you almost fell! Being drunk does not excuse me from being a dick to you.”

“You weren’t a dick, let’s get that straight,” you put your foot down. “You were down, and you were upset. Sure, the alcohol didn’t help, but it’s a conversation we can have now, sober. Why were you so upset that you got second, and why do you think it’s so bad?”

“It’s just,” he sighed, taking a minute to sort through his thoughts as you grabbed his hand, reassuringly. “I’m always second. I was second in the championship last year, I am second in this championship, I haven't won a race since Bahrain, but I got second loads of times! Why am I always second? Am I that bad of a driver?”

“You are not a bad driver,” you comforted, pulling him into a hug. He immediately hid his face in your neck as you ran your fingers down his back and through his hair. “You are second in the championship by like five points, Theo, and you’re right. You haven’t won since Bahrain. How many has Vesti won this season?”

“Like four races, I think,” he answered. You pulled him out of your neck, placing your hands on either side of his face, and looking into his blue eyes.

“And you are keeping up with someone who has won three more races than you,” you put into perspective. “Don’t you see? All those second places add up quickly. You are five points behind someone who won more races. You are consistently in the points, not Vesti. As long as you keep up this streak, you’ll have the championship in no time.”

“And Theo Pourchaire crosses the line in second place, and he takes the lead of the championship!” 

Theo was on the moon, or the podium. It’s crazy what a little difference in perspective can do for you. He jumped out of the car and immediately wanted to hug and thank you, but alas, you were racing in your own race. 

He stood on the second-place podium and for once, he was happy to be there. You were right. There was nothing wrong with coming in second place. It was solid points. 

That night, you both met up at the club. Instead of drowning his feelings in eight pints, he only had a couple because he was too busy dancing with you.

“Was I right? Second place is just as good as first, you can admit it.” You joked with him on the walk back. Well, more like ride back as you took your heels off at some point during the night, and Theo was not about to make you walk to the hotel barefoot. 

“You’re onto something,” he joked back, looking back at you on his back. “I’ll admit you’re right after we both win the championship.”

Hi! I'm so happy I found your blog because fandom ideas about Steve being a bully are sooo weird. Like not once he is actually shown bullying anyone. He is a dick in the first season but like.. a very tame dick and only to people who actively antagonize him. So he like... doesn't really like Barb, but a) he doesn't act on it b) the feeling is mutual. Barb is throwing a jealousy fit the whole time she is present in season 1 and actively dislikes Steve. It's fine. It's a very teenager thing to do and not every conflict is bullying. Not even his interaction with Jonathan is bullying, because again not every conflict is bullying. They are fighting and for a very serious reason and Steve is in the right (his actions are shitty though). I've read so many fanfics where Steve is like on his knees BEGGING Robin and Eddie for forgiveness (and they act like total dicks to him and it's all fine because he was mean three years ago), when in canon it's clear that Robin was jealous of Steve (and actually I can argue that by the time they went looking for the russians Steve and Robin were friends already), and Eddie straight up said "never talked to you before, assumed that you are an asshole, but you are actually good, what a nice surprise". And the music!!! The only song that Steve listens to in canon is "Hammer to fall" which is a protest song by Queen. Why do people think that he listens to sweetly pop music? He probably likes the Smiths or something. "Heaven knows I'm miserable now" is basically Steve and Robin's anthem

Aww thank you! Yeah, Steve is a dick in that he's like... a normal teenager, I think. Everything is a huge deal and everyone is very self-absorbed in high school. The way Robin describes him in season three is annoying for sure, but not exactly malicious. Asking stupid questions in class isn't evil.

(I will say, I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't like Barb lol like, let your bestie get laid, Jesus)

Eddie is also mean on screen? And no one calls him a bully. Please no one come for me because I love Eddie, but he is pretty mean to Lucas (they could literally do Hellfire after the break, no? Lucas doesn't make the sports schedule? but god forbid he have other interests that aren't deemed "intellectual"), he's very antagonistic in the lunch room scene unprovoked, and he's mean to Erica, who's doing Dustin and Mike a favor.

I will say, I do love Steve as a Tears for Fears fan, because they've got some great bops, but I am a "Steve listens to Springsteen" truther. He would've loved Born in the USA, I just know it.

Robin and Steve as The Smiths girlies is opening a whole new world of possibilities though. They listen to "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" on their way to work lol it's canon now.

The Guts Write up Nobody asked for

1. Out the gate with beautiful vocals in All American Bitch. The acoustic intro is interesting and catchy, but when it hits with drums and electric guitar, the song picks up so much. I love her almost punk sound in the chorus, especially the second chorus. This one definitely hits pop rock and it's incredible. The drop to the acoustic at the end is -chefs kiss-.

2. Bad idea right? Is THAT bitch. The sound is incredible, but let's talk lyrics. "My brain goes Ahhhh" is such a mood when you think about that ex you aren't over. "Yes I know that he's my ex but can't two people reconnect I only see him as a friend biggest lie I ever said" This whole track is just a love song to making bad decisions around exes. Let me just say it brings back every single time Alex showed back up in my life and we would be "friends" until the whole line of "I just tripped and fell into his bed..." SONICALLY this song is interesting and upbeat, it's just so good.

3. I don't really have much new to say about Vampire- what a beautiful song about a fucked up time in her life. I love the interesting music and changes in the song. It's catchy, it's just good. It's been good since it came out.

4. Let's talk about the bisexual anthem lacy. It's yet another song for the girlies who don't understand the difference between jealousy and attraction AKA me in high school. The lyrics in this one are silly to me, I think describing skin as puff pastry is so ridiculous, but it's such a vibe for being a teenager and thinking someone is perfect and being jealous. "I despise my rotton mind and how much it worships you" IS NOT A STRAIGHT THING.

5. This one immediately starts off gritty and is almost whiplash following Lacy. The chorus has such a neat and interesting sound and I'm so glad she took a risk with the punk leaning sound for this album. This is another song that makes this album the pop rock genre. I love how upbeat it is, it's a bop and a dance around your room with headphones pretending you're the lead singer of a band song. I will say I don't love the part where it slows down, but I'm glad it picks up and doesn't end with a slower part.

6. Making the bed physically hurt me. I feel personally attacked by the lyrics. I'm not sure I can talk about this. "Push away all the people who know me the best, but it's me who's making the bed. I'm so tired of being the girl that I am every good thing is turning to something I dread, I'm playing the victim so well in my head, but it's me who's been making the bed." Fucking ouch okay. "I got the things I wanted it's just not what I imagined" 😭 it's a perfect mid album song, slowing it down for a minute after lots of energy.

7. I don't have words for logical. Love song to the girls who have been in toxic relationships with men who take advantage of the ones who fall hard. This is an Alex song and I hate it but "you've got me thinking two plus two equals five and I'm the love of your life" I mean come on the WAY people convince you of lies. "Why do I do this, I look so stupid" is the moment of realizing that you were hoodwinked but somehow you still feel for them even though you know better. The whole outro of blaming yourself is just heartbreaking and I am unwell right now okay.

8. Alright back to it with some drums and gritty sound. This one has a great vibe. The chorus is everything to me. Upbeat I hate this man I'm gonna fuck up his life, the break up song for us girlies who knows we aren't gonna get closure but like we're ready to take it. The whole vibe of I want to make him hurt....but with the confusing aspect of wanting to make him feel better by being the one he turns to...nope I want revenge except I want him back FUCK. The perfect song for that confusing part of the break up where you're almost ready to move on but not really.

9. Love is embarrassing is a mood lol. The dumb shit we do when we think we're in love, the way we don't really have boundaries or know what we'll put up with yet. I appreciate the sound and how catchy the song is. I also love the pretty abrupt ending.

10. Alright, slow it back down. We've got the signature acoustic and Olivia's beautiful voice for this one. It seems like it's going to crescendo, but it doesn't quite get there. Lyrically, "I fantasize about a time you're a little fucking sorry" got me. "How could anybody do the things you did so easily" I am unwell. This song made me emotional about a fucking break up that happened almost a year ago. Fuck this. I am hurt. ~you know I can't let it go, I've tried I've tried I've tried for so long~ and it just ending...ugh so good.

11. Pretty isn't pretty starts strong. The sound is good, the lyrics are honest. It just addresses growing up a girl and developing self worth issues and is probably one of my favorite songs here because of the topic. We drop from worrying about relationships and just address what it's like when it feels like nothing is ever good enough. It's not my favorite based on sound, but it's good enough.

12. Ending on a sad note, I see. This one is a coming of age song and not understanding there is so much good ahead. You're just nineteen babe you've got so many better days to come. But at twenty eight I felt this. It's saying goodbye to younger days, "they all say that it gets better, it gets better but what if I don't" screams mental illness to me but I'm probably projecting my own issues. God I love how it picks up because it's such a big feeling. She did a great job of using music to set the mood in this one. Also the outro, the baby sounds the mom sounds just God fucking damn.

Taylor Swift songs that are Ronance in some way or another

Gorgeous, obviously, do I need to say more? Because I will: This song is "told" through Nancy's perspective and I think it demonstrates the frustration that Nancy had with Robin at the beginning perfectly. Also these parts that I don't see people talk about: And you should think about the consequence // Of you touching my hand in the darkened room ...DO I NEED TO REMIND EVERYONE OF THE HANDHOLD?! Along with many other lines in the song that aligned with Ronance, such as the boyfriend line and the ocean blue eyes line

Next is Style, admittedly, this is really just a personal thing, I like to headcanon that one of Robin's favourite movies is Rebel Without a Cause and that she relates to Jim Stark (played by James Dean) and just... the overall vibe of the song, I imagine them just cruising in Steve or Nancy's car, blasting this at full volume.

Labyrinth, yet another Nancy Wheeler POV song... idk what to tell you, she's just very Swiftie core/j This song reminds me of when Vecna is defeated and Nancy is navigating her sexuality, the line You know how scared I am of elevators // Never trust it if it rises fast // It can't last just makes me think of Nancy trying to stop having a crush on Robin because her previous relationship never lasted, if you get what I mean? Another line that speaks Nancy on an astronomical level is You know how much I hate that everybody just expects me to bounce back // Just like that.

A Robin POV song at last!!! Gold Rush, Robin is an evermore girlie, this isn't projection... totally not. This song is more based on s3, than s4. She just envies Nancy, like I have a feeling, she wants to be like her in a way that she's accepted; What must it be like // To grow up that beautiful? // With your hair falling into place like dominos Nancy, in her eyes, at this time, is the epitome of a perfect girl and perfect girls are accepted by people. The ending of the song is just Robin realizing that she could never be with Nancy, because of their circumstances.

Back to Nancy now... The Great War, of course let me start with the line My hand was the one you reached for // All throughout the Great War going back to the handhold once again, because it is precious to me. A lot of the lyrics can be applied to Ronance scenes with this one. Like And maybe it's the past that's talkin' // … // Tellin' me to punish you for things you never did The library scene, Nancy being jealous of Robin because she thought she was dating Steve. Broken and blue, so I called off the troops // That was the night I nearly lost you The scene where Robin first got caught by the vines. I vowed I would always be yours // 'Cause we survived the Great War This goes back to the whole s5 theory of how Nancy will be made to choose between Robin/Steve/Jonathan and she will choose Robin, because she didn't choose Barb and it will be all symbolism and shit lmaoo.

Nancy's trying to not get attached to Robin, but Robin just by being herself has planted herself into Nancy's heart and is taking up the space in Nancy's mind and that only grows and grows. I wish to know // The fatal flaw that makes you long to be // Magnificently cursed I take this line in the context of Ronance 2 ways. 1. Nancy doesn't understand how Robin can be so cursed with herself as to want to be friends with her, "magnificently" specifically because Nancy is still thankful for her. 2. The way Robin's actually ok with being a lesbian in the 80's, of course, she's not out, but she still knows she only likes girls and isn't trying to change that (unlike Nancy). Crescent moon, coast is clear // Spring breaks loose, but so does fear both the crescent moon and spring have been used in a lot of literary works as a symbol for a new beginning with Robin, Nancy sees a new beginning, she sees it very clearly, but she's scared, of her sexuality, of what the people will think, of hurting Jonathan, of ruining this new found beginning etc. So yeah, it's a fire // It's a goddamn blaze in the dark // And you started it // You started it // So yeah, it's a war // It's the goddamn fight of my life // And you started it // You started it Nancy is at war with herself, she has feelings for Robin, but she thinks she's not supposed to (internalised homophobia), she's at war with herself because she doesn't know what happens next, because of Robin.

this episode of daryl dixon i decided i would leave common sense at the door and take a double dose of suspension of disbelief, and let me tell you, it helped a lot. now i don't have to ask questions like: where the food comes from? how comes the bad guys have clean and ironed clothes, electricity, running water but the good guys don't have beans for soup? why every french person knows the exact convert rate from kilometers to miles? why there's no useful electronic like a a working radio? how comes they still have bullets? if the zombies are so easy to kill, why nobody cleaned up the street? why norman reeds looks like he never touched a fish in his life and doesn't want to start now? why french people start singing the anthem in the middle of a speech? or when they see a man about to fight a zombie? why do the bad guys have a zombie/gladiator arena instead of idk being generic evil in any other way? why do they imply that the people lining up to enter the show were there against their will if they are all cheering now?

anyway, now we can go back to focus only on the plot and the characters. good news: in the series titled daryl dixon, the 5th episode out of 6 is finally about daryl dixon. we find out how he get to france (sort of), it didn't had much relevance on the plot so i don't see why they kept if for dramatic value. but on daryl side at least something happened. on Isabelle side, writers weren't sure what to do with her, so we see her plotting how to kill Quinn, (she calls it off bc he quotes some catholic text about redemption, but this isn't brought up again, so it's more likely that it was just for that scene) she then thinks about killing herself but ish..also it's breakfast time, we don't to those things in front of a fresh salad. So at last she decides she will manipulate Quinn: it wasn't an hard task bc he's been simping for the past decade. Imo Isabelle lost her agency around ep 3 when the writers put her in idle. i hope the next episode she'll do something active. so far she's just been brought places. Laurant (little jesus) is the worst. but he's a kid- No. he deserved a face slap from paris to cannes. he cut the rope to the boat they were using to get to safety, bc he has abandonment issues? daryl calls him little shit and forgives him right away. you'll have to walk at least 100km in a place full of zombies, without food, without shelter, your other friend that was helping you just died in the worst way ever written and you cut our chance at safety? i'm leaving your ass! they in fact get captured by the bad guys like a minute after loosing the boat. anyway via plot convenience they all find themselves at the bad guys lair and daryl is to fight a boosted up zombie. will he survive? stay tuned! (episode ends here)

Now about the Quinn subplot, his new girlfriend is jealous of a woman that is there against her will (kinda) and she sells him out to Genet (boss of the bad guys). How does this work exactly? 1) if quinn wasn't useful, genet would've put someone else in his place already. 2)technically it was Anna who let laurent go, so she's the traitor 3)genet and quinn aren't part of the same organization, there can't be betrayal. they are 2 separate parties that at times cooperate. i'm not saying genet can't accuse him of treason but? don't give me bullshit reasons for locking up quinn. she (as french) could've just wanted to get rid of the birtish/american tourist. voilà, tout le monde deteste les touristes, est normal. but hey, my bad i got lost in logic again. my god this show gives us just the vibes of a story. there's no story here. the characters don't have an arc, they're the same people from ep 1, no change, no learning, nothing. things happen to them and they don't have reactions. And you know they're badly written bc the dialogue is obvious and empty and flat. and so absent. there's so much silence in this story that isn't highlighting actions, it's just silence bc nobody could find a way to fill it. I don't come from the walking dead, i have no idea what's up with daryl dixon and after 5 episodes (around 4hours and half) of a story about him I still don't know. What is this story about? faith? tyranny? how easy it is to fall for idols in a difficult moment? even the choice of setting the story in France, was it for aesthetic? were the writers trying to make parallels with french history and dictators? The annoying part is that even the few elements they throw around in could've been used: there's a military party, there's this kid that everyone is claiming is the new messiah, there's a nightclub in paris surrounded by death. those elements can fit in a bigger narrative. about looking for comfort for example. when the world ends where do you find the will to live? do you follow the path of order in hope to fix the chaos around you? do you look for a meaning, hoping it will all make sense and there's some god above looking down at you? do you see the zombie apocalypse as a punishment from above and now you follow only the righteous path? or you say fuck all of this! life has no meaning i'll go to the only nightclub left in the world? is this about avoiding pain or is it about living life to the fullest as much as you can with the limited resources you have?

there are endless possibility for a zombie story. a story about survival is never just a story about survival but about the things we do to survive. those are the stories people get attached to, bc they touch a part of us that we all have and can't explore. (bc hopefuly we won't find ourselves in extremely tragic situations)

they just needed to give genet a real need for order. not just army guys going around in their jeep killing pigeon lovers. give quinn a less aesthetic nightclub, make him sell drugs. this way he has a lot of people needing him and he has power and he's not just some generic bad dude with a night and a silly hat. give Isabelle a real sense of faith. living with nuns doesn't automatically convert you. give laurant actual lines or superpowers, everybody believes he's jesus bc he's off-putting?? he's just a weird kid. he did nothing. nobody knows how or why he's special. he didn't do any miracles. let him cure people. give us audience a reason to believe he's special, not the "he comforted a widow who lost he husband yesterday and was too heartbroken until laurent gave her a hug" bitch her husband died, what you want her to do? how was she supposed to feel? it wasn't even a week.

and into all of this give daryl dixon a journey, not just finding a working radio to go back to america. what meaning did he find in 11 series of the walking dead? does he believe in god? what does he do in front of a miracle? does he think religion sucks and it's all a lie, then he must agree with the new militia, everything illogical must be destroyed bc people will do terrible things for false idols. but then what if it's a child? and what if this whole problem doesn't touch him? can he keep going on the way of the lone wolf or does he intervene? there's no trouble in being alone but what does he do in face of injustice? what if you get killed for stepping up? how do you fight?

there's a lot of plot points that could've given daryl dixon and the other characters depth but unfortunately this series isn't about it :(

But honestly reader’s guilt is probably one of the most heartbreaking things in tptm. Imagine falling in love with this family who helped you when you forgot everything about who you were, only to be controlled into killing them again and again. That sense of hopelessness they felt in chp 13 or 14 (i dont remember 💀) when they were stuck in their head trying to go back but lunatic prevented it, or the first reality when lunatic blamed reader for being weak. It made reader think that they were the reason they all died, that they didn’t try hard enough to save them. The dimitrescus might forgive them but it’ll take a while for them to forgive themselves. Their story is so sad and I hope Dani and cass can comfort them 😭

honestly, i try to just show their trauma in small ways and i’m glad it’s been picked up so well. i mean, i couldn’t imagine waking up one day to this murderous family only for them to protect me and guide me into a fitting personality, only to one day have it all come crashing down in the span of mere minutes. i know some people think Reader’s actions are a little silly, and i would agree sometimes, but that’s the unfortunate reality of trauma and mental illness :( even though they’ve told Cass and Dani, what can they really do? they didn’t witness it. they weren’t there. they don’t wake up from nightmares that it’s happening again

but, now that Dani knows and seeing how she’s better at physical comfort, she’ll know better how to ground them, and i think that’s what they need
