I didn't know any of their names. My father surely knew quite a few of them. They had arrived from all over the United States to set sail from the Bay Area to fight in the Korean War. My dad was one of them. Maybe he's in the picture. But fortunately for dad, (and for me)! my dad was pulled off the ship and sent to Tokyo, once they learned he was a graphic artist and worked with printing presses. He was assigned to making maps in Tokyo during the war. Meanwhile these other brave men sailed on to Korea. Dad later learned almost all of them were killed within the first week they were there. He would choke up every time he told us the story.
