Camping Trip 🏕 Part 1 I can't... SWIM!! 😱

Summary:The turtles are going on a camping trip and invited you to come with them, during the camping trip the turtles find out that you can't swim.

Inspired: by the Bayverse turtles finding out that you don't know how to swim so they offer to teach you imagine.

"Oh, dudette!!.." the orange-masked terrapin sang out cheerfully while rushing over to you, as you walked in and couldn't help but smile at the younger turtle even after a long day from work "Hey Mikey, what's up?"

Michelangelo practically bounced on his feet in excitement "Did Leo tell you we're going camping!!" he exclaimed while you gave the older brother a questionable look. "No, he didn't tell me." you said, earning a confused look from the blue-masked terrapin. "I sent you a text.." he stated, causing you to look at your phone. Frowning as you did so when your device shows that you did indeed receive a text from the Fearless leader. "Oh.. sorry must've got so caught up with work I didn't even hear it ding," you said.

"You're coming with us, right, dudette?" you heard Mikey ask while making yourself comfortable on the couch. "Hmm... oh, yeah, sure, " you answered with a tired yawn, earning a concerned look from Leo. "When and where?" you asked while your eyes grew droopy for some rest "Next week..." the blue leader started as you nuzzled your face into one of the pillows on the couch while the purple-masked terrapin walks in answering your question. "We're going to the Canopous Lake..." but paused, noticing your exhausted state. Leo and Don both shared a look, noticing how tired you had been the past couple of days recently as Mikey grabbed a blanket for you. Lightly snoring away on the couch when Mikey came back with a fuzzy blanket to cover you to keep you from getting cold.

It was that sweet aroma of food that stirred you from your slumber, earning a grumble from your stomach, right? You haven't eaten anything all day... too busy getting things done. Folding the fuzzy blanket and setting it aside by the looks of the color, you assumed it was Mikey's blanket. "Well, look, who's up." said a rough Brooklyn accent, causing you to spin around to face the red-masked terrapin, who was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed while chewing on that damn toothpick.

"Hey Raph. " you greeted the larger turtle as he pushed himself off the wall and uncrossed his arms with a nodded grunt. "How ya feelin' short-stack?" he asked. "A little hungry but fine now, that I got some rest," you answered as Donnie walked in. "Oh.. hey, you're awake," he stated, then added, "I'll go get Leo." before rushing off to find him. Biting your lip "Am I in trouble or something?" you asked worriedly while looking at Raphael, who shook his head at your question. "Just worried 'bout ya' health can't have our favorite girl passin' out on us." you could feel your face heating up when he said 'our favorite girl' but nodded your head in understanding as you looked away. So they've noticed... of course, they've noticed their ninjas.. well ninja turtles that is by the time Donatello comes back with Leonardo, Michelangelo has dinner ready.

Next week... at the Canopous Lake

Leo and Raph were currently swimming in the lake while Donnie and Mikey help you on your hunt for searching seashells and rocks 'It's for your collection' is what you told the two younger terrapins. You didn't want to tell them that you're planning on making a bracelet for each of them cause that would ruin the surprise for their birthday coming up. "Hey, dudette look at this gnarly shell I found!" Mikey exclaimed excitedly while rushing over to show you...

...gasping at how pretty and unique the shell looked "Oh my gosh it's so pretty and shiny!" you exclaimed back with the same enthusiastic tone as him while holding out your container for him to drop it inside. You figured that you'll give it to them on the day they were mutated instead of the day they were originally born so one of them wouldn't feel left out since they have separate birthdays. Mikey was born in March, Donnie in October, Raph in April, and Leo in August. Wait a minute... you froze while grinning as it dawned on you that Leonardo's nickname is Leo and his zodiac sign is a leo, who are natural-born leaders... how ironic?.. Ironic but fitting.

You couldn't help but giggle at the realization you had just now, which caught both of the purple and orange-clad terrapin's attention. "What's so funny?" Donnie asked, causing you to shake your head that it was nothing earning puppy dog eyes from Mikey as he asked, what you were giggling about. Not being able to resist the look on Mikey's face, so you gave in and told them about your little realization. Now the three of you are in a fit of laughter catching the two older terrapin's attention, who are now swimming towards the shore.

You nearly choked at the sight of the two getting out of the lake looking wet and sexy. Mentally slapping yourself for thinking such a thing "Watcha' three laughin' at?" Raph questioned and the three of you just blurted out insnyc "Nothing.." before busting out into another fit of laughter.

"How deep are we talking Donnie?" you questioned the tech turtle causing the poor boy to choke on air and nearly stutter over his words "W-wha-what?!" You felt a pair of eyes staring at you as you repeated your question making sure to rephrase it "The water, how deep is it?" hoping that your voice wasn't laced with fear. "It's approximately 19 feet at its deepest point with an average depth of 7 feet. Why do you ask?" Donnie stated with a question of his own while looking at you. The purple-masked terrapin stares at you a little longer and you can practically hear the gears turning in his head. You somehow feel kinda pointless to wear clothes right about now with how intense the two turtles are staring at you 'Please don't figure it out' you repeated to yourself like a mantra. A frown starts to grow on his face and gives you a concerned look "You aren't afraid of boats by any chance, are you?" letting out a breath of air at Donnie's question. Then laughed nervously before you spoke "Pst... me afraid, don't be silly. I ain't afraid of no boat." you rambled on while trying to act calm and collected but failed terribly.

"Then why have you been avoiding all of the water activities?" you heard Leo ask, suddenly giving you quite the scare. "LEO?!" you shouted while spinning around, placing a hand over your racing heart "How long have you been standing there?" you asked casually, facing the blue-masked terrapin. Crossing his arms with a serious look on his face while staring at you with those ocean-blue eyes. Man, you are so busted!.. right now, he's gonna figure it out.. so here you are, praying that the ground would swallow you whole at this very moment. You truly didn't have a fear of boats but did have a fear of being underwater ever since you were five, let alone not a very good swimmer in deep water. Leo raised his non-existent eyebrow at you waiting for your reply "I just wasn't ready to go in the water yet.." you said with a simple shrug of your shoulders ".. besides I was the referee during the game." you smirked at him. Earning a smirk from the Fearless leader "To stare you mean." he corrected causing your smirk to fall and blush furiously, the four brothers were playing a game and you were supposed to keep score.. but got caught staring at them numerous times. What were you supposed to do, when four overgrown sexy mutant turtles are playing ball soaking wet? It reminded you of the volleyball scene from the movie Top Gun... HECK!.. it was better than that scene.

The next thing you know you're pouting with your arms crossed while Leonardo is carrying you aboard, as soon as Raph and Mikey appear with a boat. Man, this turtle is determined to get you on the water no matter what it takes. After he set you down and turned his back to do something, you tip-toed off the boat while thinking to yourself 'I'm as swift as a fox.. quiet as a mouse.. stealthy as a ninja..' how you managed to get past Leo undetected is beyond you 'perhaps he's too relaxed to notice' you thought. Or maybe.. you're starting to pick up on the turtles' sneaky stealth moves, yeah, that's it! You had to pat yourself on the back for that one while making your way towards the dock, where Raph is untying the rope... SHIT! How are you gonna get past Red without him noticing?! 'C'mon, girl think, what would -' questioning yourself while checking your surroundings on what you could use to get off the boat.. until you spot your ticket to get off the 'Floating Object of Doom!'

Raphael is singing 'Brick House' while untying the rope, as you climb on top of a crate and grab a rope to swing across "Cause she's a brick house She's mighty-mighty, just lettin' it all hang out She's a brick house Ow, that lady stacked and that's a fact Ain't holding nothing back." Raph paused for a moment when he felt a breeze brush past him and looked around before shrugging it off to continue "Ow, she's a brick house Yeah, she's the one, the only one, built like an Amazon." Then he felt the breeze again as you swing backward because your dumb-ass self forgot to jump while letting go of the rope, silently panicking since you swung right in front of Donnie and Leo. Luckily for you both of the terrapins have their shellbacks facing you "I thought she was with you?" the purple-masked terrapin asked.

So you braced yourself to try again while Raph continues to sing the song "The clothes she wears, her sexy ways Make an old man wish for younger days, yeah, yeah She knows she's built and knows how to please Sure enough to knock a strong man to his knees." You swung by the hothead so fast with a 'swish' sound and somehow managed to get stuck in a tree as Raph shouted "Mikey if ya' don't quit it, imma pound ya!"

As the boat took off Mikey was walking around looking for you until he spot you sitting at the docks waving goodbye with a smile on your face as you shout "Bon voyage!.. adiós!.. arrivederci! Sayonara, shinobi tortugas!" Causing the orange-masked terrapin to wave back while shouting "Sayonara, dudette!" as the red-masked terrapin walks over "Hey Mikey, have ya seen short-stack anywh- who are ya' wavin' at?" he questioned but froze discovering the answer to both of his questions "What the shell?!"

"COWWW-AAAA-BUN-GA!!" Mikey exclaimed as the five of you jumped off the cliff. "Uhh... guys?!" you drawed out while looking down "There's one thing I forgot to mention.." then added with a panicked voice "I can't.. SWIM!!..." as the five of you fall into a small but very shallow water with a loud SPLASH! "Don't panic Short-stack, I got ya'!!" Raph shouted with a panicked tone while swimming towards you, "Thanks, Raph." you said calmly while standing since the water isn't that deep. Then added, "But, how about we just wa- UH, HEY!" Raphael lifts you and starts carrying you bridal-style causing your face to turn red, as Donatello spoke. "This water is shallow and the current is at bay. She's not gonna drown, Raph. " earning a grunt from Raphael before he spoke "Ain't takin' any risks."

"You can put her down now, Raph." Leonardo said as the five of you are away from the water and back on land while you were snoring away in Raph's strong arms. It's safe to say, you'll be getting swimming lessons first thing tomorrow morning.

You were sleeping peacefully when all of a sudden your slumber was disturbed...

"Pst.. dudette, it's time to wake up!" an excited voice said while trying to be quiet as possible.

Not ready to wake up just yet, you rolled over with a groan while mumbling something earning a sigh from your waker.

"C'mon, angel cakes you don't wanna be late for your swimming lessons.." then added, "Or Leo will start using his authoritative voice."

A very long groan falls from your mouth as you rolled over again and... SMACK!!

"OW! Turtle with a nosebleed! Turtle with a nosebleed! Turtle with a nosebleed!" Mikey exclaimed while holding his snout as he walks out of your tent with you trailing behind him a cloth in hand to stop the bleeding. "Oh, Mikey I am so so sorry." catching the three terrapin's attention "What da' shell happen?!" Raph questioned. "I may have accidentally elbowed poor Mikey here in the snout." you confessed sheepishly while Donnie goes into 'doctor mode' and checks his little brother's snout, "Is it broken?" Mikey asked.

Leo expected it to be a bit of a challenge on teaching you, how to swim.. but what he didn't expect was, how stubborn you are to go IN the water. First, you wouldn't go into the lake because you said that "the water is too cold" while Mieky is swimming on his back and shouted "What are you talking about cupcake?! The water feels fine, dudette!" You just looked at him, incredulously, and now you're saying that "the water isn't even your element and you should stay on the ground, where it's safe with a good book."

So the blue-masked terrapin figured he'd start your lesson off with some breathing exercises to help with your anxiety. Once you've calmed down and relaxed enough to go in the lake, he had you in an area where it's shallow enough that your feet can still touch the bottom. Leo is floating in front of you while Raph is behind you, both of the two oldest terrapins are only a few inches away from you making you swim back in forth. While Mikey is on your far left and Donnie is on your right cheering you on. Every time you would swim towards Leo while Raph would swim behind you making sure to keep a distance so he doesn't bump into you but still close by just in case. Then repeat the same routine, when they have you swim back to Raph with Leo moving in behind you while they praise you each time.

You were starting to get the hang of it and were making another lap towards Leo but, he accidentally went out a little too far this time causing you to have a whiplash from your past and start having a panic attack. All four of the turtles were trying to calm you down but you were too far gone to even hear them, like torpedoes the four terrapins went underwater to save you from drowning. The Leader and Hothead ended up headbutting each other before going back up when they didn't find you 'Where the shell did you go?!' both of them thought, "RAPH!?", "LEO!?" the two alpha males growled at each other, as the youngest terrapin pop back up shouting "MIKEY!!" while the tech-turtle frantically searches for you. Unbeknownst to them, you were perfectly fine, well.. besides the fact that your practically holding on to Donnie's shell trembling like a leaf with wide eyes.

The five of you - scratch that the four of you decided to huddle up by the fire for the rest of the evening telling stories while Mikey makes dinner and Leo sulks away alone in his tent. Donnie was talking about something.. you weren't paying attention since you were worrying over Leo. You should've told them and the whole thing could've been avoided instead of chickening out.. and poor Leo wouldn't be in his tent sulking, let alone giving the boys a damn heart attack. As the saying goes 'shoulda coulda woulda' and what's done is, done. All you could do now is learn from your mistakes and move on, letting out a sigh as Raph nudged your shoulder gently "Ya 'kay there, short-stack?" he asked with a concerned look on his face.

When you didn't say anything Raphael followed your gaze that lead to Leonardo's tent then, grunted before patting you on the back as he spoke "He'll come 'round. Even if it means I have to drag 'em out myself." You couldn't help but smile at the last part cause he would do that too "Dinner is served, dudes and dudette!" Mikey exclaimed carrying a container of lasagna. While Michelangelo makes a plate for everyone Leonardo finally comes out of his tent and drops to his knees in front of you with his head down "I'm sorry.. " he started refusing to make eye contact with you. Shaking your head at him and said with a frown "You're, not the one that should be apologizing.. " not hearing what you said, Leo continued "Your right, I pushed you too hard and - wait, what?" The three younger turtles watch while eating their food "I'm sorry, I should've said something sooner.." you confessed quietly while looking down ashamed. Three green fingers gently grip your chin and lift your face to meet a pair of ocean-blue eyes "Why didn't you?" Leo asked quietly.

Why didn't you?... you wondered while narrowing your gaze away from the blue-masked terrapin to stare at the ground instead. Before whispering your response so quietly that you couldn't even hear yourself, the turtles sure did. "I didn't want to be a burden to ya.." a loud gasp came from Mikey followed by the sound of lasagna dropping on the ground "What the shell are ya' talkin' 'bout short-stack?!" Raph exclaimed while jumping to his feet with a grunt. Donnie stares at you in shock wide-eyed, mouth open and fork in hand stopping midway you stoled a glance towards Leo to see him looking at you with an unreadable expression.

The next thing you know you're getting tackled in a hug by Michelangelo, the two of you tumbling backward and landing with a thud causing you to let out an "Oof.." sound. "You're not a burden to us, dudette! So don't ever think that!" the orange-masked terrapin declared, "I hate to say it but... Mikey's right, short-stack." Raphael said while removing the said turtle off of you, then added "Ya' not a burden to us. " Leonardo helps you up but refuses to let go of you as he speaks next, "Yeah, you mean too much to us- " the blue-masked terrapin gets interrupted by Donatello finally spoke while setting his plate of food aside as he got up "We're willing to do anything for you, no questions asked."

You stared at him in shock and whispered in disbelief "Really?.. ", "Really... " Leo clarified as you looked at them to find the three terrapin brothers nod their heads at their brother. While your mind is processing all this new-found information the blue-masked terrapin added, "Just tell us next time, please?" a smile starts to form on your face as you nodded your head "Okay." Then Mikey shouts excitedly, "GROUP HUG!!" blushing furiously as you get squished between the four giant terrapins.. until the moment ended too soon when Raph said, "A'right enough of this mushy stuff, let's eat."

When you had signed up to be a camp counselor for the summer, you hadn’t expected Steve Harrington to be there. If you had known, you definitely wouldn’t have gone to that particular camp. There was something about him that rubbed you the wrong way. It was almost as if he seemed too happy and you didn’t like that. With him, there was always something to look forward to and maybe you just didn’t like him because you were jealous.

Despite your dislike for him, he was always nice to you when you were both in school. He’d greet you with in the cafeteria with that megawatt smile and you’d grimace, but that would never deter him. In fact, he’d just smile wider, as if the look on your face made him happy.

But it didn’t. Seeing you always so angry upset Steve. He wanted to get to the bottom of it. To know what was making you tick and how he could fix that. He had been that way for a years after everything that had happened in the Upside Down and after he had found healthy ways to cope with it, he tried his best to help others around him.

He sat next to you every day for every meal and you’d just brush him off. You didn’t need friends. You just wanted to be alone, which was ironic since you had decided to spend your summer around a bunch of kids. But Steve wasn’t going to give up. He was going to sit there every day until you finally talked to him.

The day you did finally speak, you turned to him long enough to utter the words “fuck off” before turning back to your tray. After that, Steve decided to leave you alone for a while.

He watched you from afar, smiling to himself as he saw you interact with the campers. His heart warmed seeing you help one of them out with an injury. One of the girls had fallen on her way inside the lodge for dinner and scraped her knee and you had been quick to react, taking a first aid kit from the backpack you had carried and wiped the debris out of her cut along with the blood that had run down her leg.

You were talking to her the whole time, trying to distract her from the pain and it worked like a charm. You asked her what her favorite color was and she seemed very passionate about pink, blush pink to be specific. She talked about it the entire five minutes you cleaned her up and you nodded along, agreeing that it was a great color.

Once your work was done, you helped her up from the ground and she decided that she wanted to sit next to you for dinner which you had no problem agreeing to. She seemed to be a loner just like you and you were happy to have someone who you got along with.

You sat at the table and waited for Clementine who was in line getting her food. Steve stood in front of her and helped her pile her plate high with the options that were available that night. You watched him lean down to talk to her, that stupid fucking smile making its way onto his face. You got this weird feeling in your chest as you watched him help her, the smile on both their faces as he did so.

Once they had their food, Clementine grabbed Steve by the hand and pulled him right over to the table where you were sitting. You tried your hardest to keep your smile on your face as he approached you.

The tension was high and Steve wasn't sure how to approach the situation. He wanted to sit with Clem since she had been so eager, but now that you were in the equation, he wasn't so sure. He was still trying to be respectful.

"Y/n, look who's going to sit with us!" She exclaimed as she got to your table with Steve's wrist in her hand. You bit back a laugh at how awkward the man looked. For someone who used to have the word "king" tacked onto his name, he definitely didn't seem very confident. He looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but there and you felt the same.

"Hey, Clem, he started to say, knowing that you didn't want him to sit with you, but you cut him off before he could finish his sentence.

"Take a seat, Stevie," you said as you pulled out the chair to the left of yours. Not only were you calling him by the nickname that he loved, but you also were letting him sit with you? What alternate dimension had he entered? Definitely not the Upside Down. This dimension was much nicer since it had you in it.

Steve hesitantly set his plate on the table and sat down next you, your chairs dangerously close to one another, but you weren't going to admit that you liked it. You could feel his eye's on you, but you ignored him. You weren't going to let him win.

You got up from your seat to throw your plate away, but there was something slippery on the floor, causing you to slip. You closed your eyes and braced yourself for the fall, but it never came. Someone had caught you. You were so grateful that you had been saved that you had to know who had caught you.

You opened your eyes to be met by the warm honey ones you had become familiar with over the summer. Steve helped you to your feet and you looked at him, his eyes boring into yours as he searched them for any sign of discomfort. You liked that he wanted to protect you and you knew you had to nip that right in the bud. You couldn’t be with him as much as you wanted to. You just couldn’t.

You pushed Steve’s hands off of you and stepped away, feeling yourself bubbling with anger as you watched his face contort into even more concern. He stepped forward and you stepped back, putting you hands out we he’d keep his distance.

“Stay away from me, Harrington,” you told him before fleeing the lodge. You could still feel the way his arms held you and felt even more angry that you kind of liked it.

What was Steve’s deal. Why was he playing at? He was still so nice to you despite your dislike for him and you didn’t like that you were slowly warming up to him. That he was starting to that’s your frozen heart bit by bit.

You went to your cabin and got ready for bed even though it was still light outside, trying not to think about him and his pretty smile or his beautiful brown eyes that made you melt when they looked into yours. You weren’t falling for him. You just weren’t. You never would have worked out anyway. You were just too different. The complete opposite of each other.

You got into your bunk and your mind drifted to Steve, the moment where he caught you replaying over and over in your head. You were starting to feel bad for the way you treated him. He was just trying to help and you blew up at him. You didn’t think you deserved his niceness.

You tossed and turned the entire night, wondering how Steve was doing and if you still had time to apologize for being so rude to him. Somehow, you just knew that he’d forgive you.

You couldn’t sleep, your guilt of being rude to Steve practically the entire summer eating you alive. You checked the clock and saw that there was only an hour before everyone would be up so you got out of your bunk and sneaked out the door to the lodge for some early breakfast.

You slowly crept inside and noticed a box of cereal out on the counter, feeling your stomach growl as you thought about having a bowl of the stuff. You went to grab the box only to find someone else in the kitchen with you. Steve. Maybe now was your chance to finally apologize.

“Hey,” he smiled and you still weren’t used to the fact that he was a morning person. How someone could be that chipper at 7:00 AM, you didn’t know.

“Hi, Steve,” you grumbled and Steve reached for the cereal and poured you a bowl before holding it out to you. “Thank you.”

“No problem,” he smiled before passing you the milk and a spoon. “Do you want some orange juice?”

“Sure,” you nodded and he grabbed the orange juice from the fridge and set it on the counter before reaching for two glasses from the cabinet that was behind him. He turned his head towards you and watched you stretch, your t-shirt riding up as you did so. He was so distracted that the glass in the hand fell to the floor and shattered into many pieces.

Your head jerked in his direction and you rounded the counter, no wanted to get hurt in the glass. The cabinet managed to close on its own, whacking Steve in the forehead. He clutched it in pain and you pulled him backwards to get him to a safe zone.

You swept up the glass and got rid of it before checking on Steve to make sure that he was okay. You noticed a little blood on his forehead. You pulled him over to the sink and grabbed the first aid kit that was under it. You grabbed an alcohol wipe and wiped away the blood causing Steve to wince at the stinging sensation it brought.

“Sorry.”

“That’s alright. You don’t have to do this, you know.”

“I know,” you nodded. “But I want to.”

“You do?”

“I’m sorry, Steve. For everything. I was a bitch and-”

“You weren’t a bitch. You had created boundaries and I crossed them.”

“I told you to fuck off when you were just being nice. You can say that I was a bitch, alright? And I’m sorry. I’m sorry for pushing you away when all you were trying to do was be my friend.”

“It’s okay,” he put his hands over yours, his honey eyes looking into yours and you could see how serious he was. He was forgiving you and it was time for you to forgive yourself. “Can I be honest with you?”

“Of course you can.”

“I really like you.” Out of all of the things he could have said, that definitely wasn’t what you were expecting. His tone made it seem like he wasn’t meaning liking you as a friend.

“I really like you too,” you replied and his eyes widened at your confession. His mouth was agape and you supposed that it was shocking that his feelings were reciprocated considering your supposed hatred for him. “I feel like I have for a long time but I was afraid to let you in. Getting close to people is scary, but I’m not scared anymore.”

“Are you saying that you want to start something with me?”

“I’d really like that,” you nodded and Steve smiled, warming your heart.

“I’d really like that too,” he smiled back and you put a bandaid on his injury before wrapping your arms around his neck, pulling him in for a sweet kiss.
