Red obviously references the left, particularly the republican army during the Spanish Civil War. Currently, the right-wing Partido Popular is associated with blue, while the centre-left Partido Socialista Obrero Español is associated with red.

**"Sun-facing faces" references Cara al sol, the anthem of the Falange Española de la JONS.

***I'm??? pretty sure??? that this is a reference to the fact that a well-known hobby of the previous king, Juan Carlos de Borbón, is big-game hunting in Africa. He's been known to hunt elephants specifically.
