Revival Cafe & Kitchen Opens at Alewife
The Cambridge cafe will serve a limited menu to start
A new coffee shop has debuted near Alewife. Revival Cafe & Kitchen (125 Cambridgepark Dr., Cambridge) opened with an abbreviated menu, including pastries made on-site and coffee. This is the first of two planned locations for Revival, which is the work of Liza Shirazi of Harvard Square’s Crema Cafe and Steve “Nookie” Postal, chef-owner of Commonwealth in Kendall Square and partner at Crema.
In a post on Instagram Thursday, Revival shared a spread of pastries that are available this week, including croissants, muffins, and fruit danishes. The cafe will offer a house coffee as well as a complex blend, the latter of which currently comes from Passenger Coffee in Pennsylvania. More menu items are on the way, so stay tuned.
Postal has been sharing all the details on the construction and development of both Revival Cafes, along with a third project: a beer hall at Alewife called Mothership. The second Revival is under construction at 197 Elm St. in Somerville’s Davis Square.
Look who's open!! We've got a smaller food menu for now, but a lot more fun to come. Everything is made right here in our kitchen! Come grab a coffee and join us, cheers!☕️ . . . #brewwithrevival #lamazocco #thebestpastry #revivalcambridge #cambridge #alewife #strawberrybalsamicfruitdanish

UBC May Be Opening in the Alewife Section of Cambridge
by Marc Hurwitz It looks like a new restaurant may be on its way to a part of Cambridge that is starting to heat up. According to a licensing commission hearing agenda page within the city's website, a dining spot tentatively called UBC is planning to open in the Alewife area, with the listing saying that the Cambridgepark Drive place would have seating for 160 inside, another 92 on an outdoor patio, and a total outside occupancy of 500 (the total occupancy inside would be 225). Based on the hours shown, it appears that the restaurant might be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, though more will likely be known about the hours--and the restaurant itself--when the meeting takes place on April 10. The address indicates that UBC would be located across the street from the Alewife T station in a building that includes offices and research space. The address for the proposed UBC would be 35 Cambridgepark Drive, Cambridge, MA, 02140 Follow us on Twitter at @hiddenboston

A Million Things May Go Wrong During a Restaurant Opening, but It’s How You React That Counts
Nookie’s back with his latest installment of “On the House”
Welcome back to On the House, a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to open a restaurant — or several. In 2013, Steve “Nookie” Postal shared weekly glimpses into his experience opening Commonwealth in Cambridge, and now he’s back as he works to open two cafes (Revival) and a beer hall (Mothership), all while keeping Commonwealth up and running. Keep an eye out for new installments of On the House on alternate Fridays.
I guess this is it. Next time I sit my not-as-fat-ass down to write, we will be open. Who? Which one? Are you having trouble following? Me too. But it’s Revival: a brand new cafe located at 125 Cambridgepark Dr. at Alewife in Cambridge.
Monday to Friday to start. Weekends hopefully coming in July. June, maybe, but I have learned enough times not to hope, ‘cause this shit always takes longer than you think and costs more money than you think. On budget and on time? I think that doesn’t exist. Maybe only in the books.
But the time is here, so that’s it, I guess. This is where I thank all the people who have helped me on the way and skewer the ones that rammed me in the rear, ha! Unfortunately, not done. I told Liza today, “Can’t believe we are almost one-third of the way through this!” One-third! I don’t know how much more of this I can take.
So yes, Revival Alewife will be open next week. Through hell or fucking high water, we are opening. Sometimes you gotta just put your foot down and say, “This is it. We are doing this.” Opening a restaurant/cafe is like having a baby; you’re never really ready. I’ve got three kids — I know all about that. But it’s almost here. Final sign-offs today. Final equipment dribbling in.
Steve Postal
Construction at Revival Davis
Tables found in Fitchburg, peanut roasters in Brimfield, sheeters, ovens, panini press, sinks, filler tables, rolling racks, shelving, shelving, shelving…I love shelving. Thanks to KC O’Hara from FaO Hospitality for helping me along this.
But done…I’d put some crying meme picture in here if I knew how to do that. Not done. Still building Revival Davis; that’s going slowly. Almost a blessing, although we can’t afford to wait much longer. The hemorrhaging of money has reached maximum flow: We need to open. Shocking, you can’t run a business by just spending and not opening. So, simultaneously, we will crush down on getting Davis open ASAP, opening Alewife, and continuing to run Commonwealth and Crema.
Today, I started my day in Alewife, went to Davis, went to Crema in Harvard, and then went to Commonwealth in Kendall. Damn. Just remembered I was gonna stop at H Mart in Central. I need to start loading up my pantry. Then I worked my way back to Alewife and walked home. Took me 12 hours. Alewife and Davis aren’t even open yet. I’m gonna have to figure out how to balance my time.
So, let’s see…what else is going on? Bought a new truck. Well, new to me. It’s tall. I think it should fit under Storrow; I hope it does. It’s got lots of “beauty marks.” But whatever, it will get the job done. We ain’t out there trying to win any beauty contests.
Steve Postal
Editor’s note: Will someone please make sure that Nookie doesn’t actually drive this onto Storrow?
I will say, though, with all that’s going on, that I’m doing okay. I have my moments. Sometimes I’m freaking out, I’ll admit it. My anxiety then rubs off on others and keeps trickling. Gotta think positive now.
My team, wow — I really couldn’t do this without them, and it’s not only the ones I’ve mentioned before. It’s everyone: everyone who is coming along for the ride and the ones staying back, waiting for the next one to start. Bakers, cooks, dishwashers, baristas…all of them. It’s cliche, but it takes a village. No one builds a restaurant group by themselves. Impossible. It takes everyone. And we’ve got a strong core.
Don’t get me wrong — feeling good right now, but in about 72 hours, I’m gonna be waking up after two hours of sleep, wondering to myself why the hell I was stupid enough to do this again. It’s gonna be awful. There are gonna be, like, a million things that go wrong, things I forgot, things that don’t work, things. Things are gonna happen. It’s not what happens that counts, it’s how you react. That’s, like, my mantra.
Alright, that’s all I’ve got. I still have so much to do tonight. Final smallwares order, Mother’s Day menu for Commonwealth (post-1 p.m. reservations still available, FYI), finalize Revival opening menu. And then I have to stare at my, like, 100 lists and try to will the rest of it to just get done. I wish I could just use the Force to make this happen. But it will get done. It has to. Crunch time. Head down. See you on the other side.

How Much is Homeowners Insurance in Massachusetts?
When it comes to protecting your home and your investment, having the right homeowners insurance in Massachusetts is crucial. But how much can you expect to pay for this essential coverage in the Bay State? In this article, we'll break down the factors that influence the cost of homeowners insurance and provide valuable insights to help you make an informed decision.
Factors Affecting Homeowners Insurance Costs
Several factors play a role in determining the cost of homeowners insurance in Massachusetts. These include:
1. Location
Your location matters. Homes in areas prone to natural disasters or high crime rates may have higher premiums. However, Massachusetts generally has a lower risk of natural disasters compared to some other states.
2. Coverage Level
The extent of coverage you choose directly impacts your premium. A comprehensive policy covering both the structure and belongings will cost more than a basic policy.
3. Home Value and Size
The value and size of your home affect the cost. Larger and more valuable homes typically have higher premiums.
4. Deductible
The deductible is the amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance kicks in. Higher deductibles often result in lower premiums, but you'll pay more in the event of a claim.
5. Home Security
Investing in security measures like alarm systems and deadbolt locks can lead to discounts on your insurance premium.
Average Homeowners Insurance Costs in Massachusetts
The cost of homeowners insurance in Massachusetts varies, but on average, homeowners can expect to pay around $1,250 to $1,500 per year for coverage. Keep in mind that this is a rough estimate, and your actual premium may be higher or lower depending on the factors mentioned above.
How to Save on Homeowners Insurance
While homeowners insurance is a necessary expense, there are ways to reduce your premium without sacrificing coverage. Consider:
Bundling your homeowners and auto insurance with the same provider for a discount.
Maintaining a good credit score, as some insurers use it to determine rates.
Reviewing and updating your policy annually to ensure you have adequate coverage at the best price.
Conclusion
Protecting your home and belongings with homeowners insurance in Massachusetts is a wise investment. While the cost varies depending on multiple factors, understanding these influences can help you make informed decisions about coverage. How Much Did It Cost to Make Fenway Park?
Fenway Park, the iconic baseball park located in Boston, Massachusetts, stands as a testament to American sports history. Since its inception in 1912, Fenway Park has been home to the Boston Red Sox and has hosted countless memorable moments in baseball history. For fans and historians alike, one intriguing aspect of this beloved ballpark is its construction cost.
The Financial Blueprint of Fenway Park
When Fenway Park was constructed, it was a massive undertaking, especially in the early 20th century. Adjusting for inflation, the cost to build such a stadium today would certainly run into the hundreds of millions. However, in 1912, the expense was considerably less but still a significant figure for the time.
Inflation and Construction Costs
The original cost of Fenway Park, when considering the economic context of the era, was a major investment. It's crucial to understand that the value of money was different, and the methods of construction were less advanced than today's standards. This historical financial outlay set the stage for a century of sports history.
Econosurance: Safeguarding Massachusetts' Treasures
Just as Fenway Park is an asset to the community, so is ensuring that your home is protected. With Homeowners Insurance Massachusetts, Econosurance offers residents the security they need for their own personal landmarks. We understand the value of safeguarding what matters most to you, whether it's a historic ballpark or your family home.
Conclusion: The Legacy of Fenway Park
In conclusion, while the exact figures have varied over time due to inflation, the cost to create Fenway Park represents more than just a financial figure; it symbolizes an investment into a cultural cornerstone that has endured for over a century. Similarly, investing in homeowners insurance is not just about financial security—it's about preserving your home's legacy for generations to come.Econosurance is here to help homeowners in Massachusetts protect their personal field of dreams with comprehensive and affordable coverage options.
