HMS Cambeltown wedged in the dock gates of Saint-Nazaire, France, is inspected by German personnel. Despite a search by the Germans earlier, they are unaware the destroyer is loaded to the gills with explosives.

The ensuing explosion will kill around 250 German soldiers and French civilians and demolish both the front half of the destroyer and the 150 tons caisson of the drydock, with the rush of water into the drydock washing the remains of the ship into it. The Saint-Nazaire drydock was rendered unusable for the rest of the war and was not repaired until 1948

Tocan el clásico de Roy Brown "Good Rockin´ Tonight", la ultraminimalista "Bip Bop", "Hey Diddle", otra desconocida y "I´m Your Singer". La segunda y la última acabarían apareciendo en el primer LP de Wings, "Wings Wild Life" (1971). Cambeltown no es Formentera, pero el rollo que lleva es natural y ultra básico, y en el fondo es lo mismo.

The Polaroid Diaries In the late 1960s Linda Eastman established herself as a photographer of the rock and roll stars of the day. Her candid portraits of musicians were a refreshing break from the more stilted, formal band shots. In 1967 Eastman came to London to capture the “swinging 60s” as part of her work. It was there she met Paul McCartney at the ‘Bag O’Nails’ club. She was there to photograph ‘The Beatles’ during a launch event for the ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ album. Very quickly, the pair fell in love, and married two years later. As she continued to photograph some of the most important names in music McCartney also spent the next three decades capturing her husband and their four children at home. McCartney often turned to her Polaroid camera to capture these more intimate moments with her family. ‘Linda McCartney: The Polaroid Diaries’ brings together some of these images for the first time. This is the second book from the publisher on McCartney’s photography - the first was a retrospective look at her film photography. Featuring over 200 images from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s, the collection focuses on the photographer’s way of seeing the world and her family. Throughout the book we see the family pulling faces, dancing around the kitchen and playing dress-up - it’s an idyllic and fun-filled slice of life on their farm in Scotland. While McCartney had an eye for a moment, part of the beauty of these images - and Polaroid photography as a whole - is the unpredictable nature of them. My friend, Elizabeth, gave me these fantastic pieces of sea glass that she collected for me in Cambeltown, Scotland. She is one of my art school friends, that I met up with yesterday, after 22 years since graduating. I'm going to make some lovely jewellery with these smooth, sea washed beauties. Yesterday, was another special get-together I'd had over the past ten days. I met friends from school, friends from college, friends from art school, friends from work, and, of course, my family. So much blethering and laughing was had that I'm going to be champing at the bit until I see them all again. I didn't get to meet my fellow Scottish sea glass collectors but that day will surely come. Leonie – 3-5 year old female Cross-Breed

Leonie is a 3-5 year old female Cross-Breed. Leonie was rescued in Cyprus and has flown to the UK to help her search for her forever home. She is currently living in her foster home in Cambeltown. Here is a little about her: Leonie is a friendly young girl who bonds well with her human family. Whilst we do not know her exact parentage, she looks to have some Staffordshire Terrier, together possibly with a bit of Malinois, given her distinctive, expressive ears. She really is a stunning girl. She is looking for an active home preferably with older children as she still young and has the boisterousness that young dogs have. She would prefer to be the only pet as whilst she’s okay with other dogs socially, she can try to be dominant and does stand her ground so better as an only dog in the home and definitely no cats or small furries.

Preferably her new human should be experienced with dogs and be someone prepared to continue her training. She’s quick to learn and very intelligent and lots of fun to be with. A larger garden securely fenced above 6 ft is a must as she likes to go explore if left to her own devices and can jump lower heights. She’d be ideal for a family with children over the age of 10 and would love if her new family have friends with dogs to walk with or take her walks to meet doggie friends.

She needs someone home a lot initially as she has displayed a little separation anxiety and would prefer not being left for long periods of time. She’s a sociable girl who’d be okay in a busy home environment, but will benefit from stimulation in the form of play and brain games. Agility or Cani Cross activities may also be enjoyable with her when her training reaches that level. She is house trained and sleeps well through the night. When out walking she does walk better on a halti. She has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Before she married a Beatle, Linda McCartney was renowned photographer Linda Eastman. She was the first woman to shoot a cover for ‘Rolling Stone’ - the cover was Eric Clapton. From the 1970s until her death in 1998 at 56 from breast cancer, Linda turned her camera to her home life. Her second book for ‘Taschen’ ‘Linda McCartney: The Polaroid Diaries’ brings together over 200 images - all Polaroids, obviously - which range from the early Seventies to the mid-Nineties and include a cute shot of Paul brushing his teeth and Linda taking a selfie with a young Stella. Many of these intimate snapshots of the McCartneys were shot at their farm in Cambeltown, Scotland. Photographs of Linda’s friends also appear, like Adam Ant and Pretenders front-woman Chrissie Hynde. Hynde was one of the last people Linda photographed in a portrait shot at Linda and Paul’s home.
