OKAY SO-

In the most recent RotTMNT podcast where they interviewed Russ and Ron, they said that “if they had more episodes, they wanted to show more about the origins of the mystic city. Like how humans and yokai used to coexist, before the yokai were forced underground (I assume due to the Shredder’s rampage making it seem like every yokai was a ‘demon’ in the waiting, leading to humans taking action), angering Draxum.”   

Like... YOKAI AND HUMANS USED TO COEXIST?! That’s super interesting and super cool! Buuuuut now I’m just wondering that, if it weren’t for Kraang creating the Shredder armor/if it weren’t for Saki making a literal deal with a devil... would yokai and humans continue to coexist? 

Would the Rise!verse end up being a sort of modern fantasy world, where creatures of all shapes and sizes just live alongside humans without any fear? Because uh, if that’s the case, then that really is the Ultimate Good Timeline. 

Like, forget writing about bad futures where the Turtles all die or Shredder/Kraang takes over the world - fanfic writers, let’s write about THIS possible future!

Though, this Ultimate Good Timeline wouldn’t be completely good. There’d still likely be plenty of criminals both human and yokai as well as villains (because hey, it’s still a sort of comic book-y/cartoony world) - hence why Draxum would still be an alchemist (more scientist than warrior, since he’s not really fighting a war in this AU, he just wants to make things better for everyone) and would still want to create ‘perfect’ mutants that could grow up to be protectors and saviors.

His mutation experiments would also be a lot more legal since he wouldn’t be using them for genocide-by-conversion/child soldiers, and as such would likely pay volunteers in exchange for mutating and doing research on them. Given that furries would still exist in this world, I’m sure he’d have plenty of volunteers, lol.

@mitkitty also pointed out to me that since mutation generally seems to help with a person’s health by giving them more strength/agility/power/etc., Draxum’s experiments could also be used help people with chronic issues to lead easier lives (another reason why they’d be a bit more legal in this AU).

Which means, our favorite action film star (not a victim of the Nexus since I don’t think Mama would be able to get away with kidnapping him, but still a bit tired and burnt out, even more so after divorcing his ex) would be a lot more willing to visit Draxum and ask for his help in giving him a family. ...huh. I guess in this case, Draxum really would be more like an OB-GYN, just like Russ and Ron said, lol.

But yeah, humans and yokai would pretty much be living in harmony (save for the occasional conflict/friction, given that no society is completely perfect and peaceful) since a relationship between the two would be something that existed for thousands of years. You’d still probably have people like Big Mama who try to takeover or humans who may not care for yokai and vice versa, but overall I could see things in this timeline being fairly peaceful! ^v^ Certainly a lot more mystical. And honestly, that’s just really nice and cool to think about, you know?

Empress Y/N

Empress Y/N (1384 – 1461) was the second emperor of the Baekje kingdom during the early Joseon era and one of the best-known queens of the Joseon dynasty. Born to a consort, the ongju only became the heir to the throne when Gongju Sun, only child of the Baekje emperor and the late empress Shin, became the empress of Goguryeo after her marriage with the Emperor—father of the late crown prince Geum—after his queen’s untimely death. Y/N became the first empress to rule without a king in 1413, until her marriage to her royal guard Park Jimin in 1420. The empress was then succeeded by her son, Park Il-Guk, after she and her husband stepped down the throne in 1446. She died of natural causes in 1461.

It was a normal day at the temple when the empress suddenly visited. It was dark and silent—the time of the pig[1].

The heavily pregnant empress of Goguryeo, ever the superstitious, approaches the oracle with a careful bow as she cradled her swollen belly. She was due to birth any time.

“Your highness,” greeted the oracle.

“Priestess Cho,” the empress nodded back. “Apologies for having barged in at such an inconvenient time,”

“None-sense, your majesty.” The priestess replied. “The stars have called you here. Who am I to disagree?”

The queen nodded solemnly before setting her hand on her stomach. “I am to birth at any time. I would like you to tell me about my child.”

And tell her she did.

The priestess whispered a prayer as she lit an incense, then closed her eyes.

As if magic, a prophecy tumbled out of her mouth.

A family of greatness

Birthing a child of weakness

As one approaches his end,

A brother prepares to reign.

The queen gasped as tears welled up in her eyes.

She touched her stomach as she felt her child respond to his mother’s touch.

The stars have spoken.

The unborn child will not reach his seventh year, and he will not see his brother crowned as the heir to the throne.

It had been seven years since then.The country prospered and was better than ever.

The crown prince, Geum, grew up to be a cheerful, kind and intelligent boy. He had an affinity for diplomacy and is exceptionally skilled in warfare and battle strategy. The kingdom loved him.

Prince Yunki, however, was a sad child. Perhaps that was because he was constantly ill and born with a death sentence.

The boy was born with snow white hair, which the queen supposed was the result of his illnesses—though quite unheard of. Despite his affinity for swordsmanship and politics, the boy could barely even wield one.

The queen was disheartened.

Agitated by her son’s fate, the empress once again visits the temple. Once again, she sits across the same oracle.

“Your highness,” greeted the oracle. “You have returned.”

“Priestess Cho. I came for my son,” The queen replied with urgency, no time for pleasantries, “The fates have told you that he will die as his brother ages for the throne.”

“They have.”

“Geum will be groomed for the throne soon,” The queen rushed. “Is the death of Yunki really mapped by the gods?”

“No gods, your grace. Stars—the planet. Destiny. Fate. Whatever it is called.”

“Fate dictates the death of my son?”

“Alas, the stars have changed course.” The oracle whispers. “The spirits whisper.”

“What do they say?”

“That your son will be the fiercest king Goguryeo will meet.” The oracle tells. “The emperor that defies fate and destiny.”

“Priestess Cho, forgive me. I was not talking about Geum.”

“Neither am I.” The priestess replied, shocking the queen into silence as she continued. “He will not die tonight, my queen. Not yet. Not for a long while.”

Perhaps the mistake the queen did that night was not to ask what this entailed.

For the following year, the queen was delighted at what she saw.

Yunki loses his illness, recovering at a fast pace. He grew up a strong prince with fair skin, maintaining his white hair, and a sharp gaze. He became strong and fierce.

The queen perished happily that year, joyed at the fact that her son will live. She returned to the planet as her country mourned.

For years to follow, all was well in the kingdom—they had a crown prince who would rule kindly and another who defied fate.

It wasn’t until years later that it all crashed down.

Prince Geum fell in battle, and the emperor died from grief. Prince Yunki immediately ascended to the throne.

The bitter child that he grew up to be, Emperor Yunki became the mad king. All he did was pillage and burn.

That’s what he did to terrorize nearby cities, that’s what he did to eliminate rebels, and that’s what he did to conquer the Kingdom of Silla.

It was because this that fate finally fixed itself—the planet called the whispers[2].

Min Yoongi was simply… Yoongi.

He didn’t think anything was special about him—well, except for the fact that he was a time-travelling assassin sent to different moments of history to fix details that would change the course of destiny.

It would be nice to see an ancient Korea after the mess I made in America, Yoongi thought as he headed to his mission.

He shuddered at the thought of his previous mission—Yoongi spent two whole years egging Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton’s rivalry to end in a duel rather than amicable terms.

Never again.

Shaking his head, Yoongi stepped through time and landed where he needed to, Joseon era—the year 1411.

Yoongi gazed around at the busy street and the lively Goguryeo culture—but that really wasn’t what he’s here for.

Yoongi breathed and nodded to himself.

He was back here to do his mission: assassinate Emperor Yunki and restore the timeline.

Securing his straw hat on his head, Yoongi started to walk through the busy marketplace.

While he did feel weirdly out-of-place, he found that didn’t actually care as long as his cover wasn’t blown.

Three loud bangs on a drum and airy horns were suddenly heard, making him feel alive—Yoongi came at the same time they were playing the Daechwita [3].

Yoongi has always liked music. He liked to play, to listen, to sing and dance and rap. He liked it modern, classical, and traditional—and the Daechwita was one of his favorites. Perhaps it was the ties to his culture.

Intrigued, Yoongi went to watch the captivating performance.

“You really like music, don’t you?” A soft voice hummed next to him. “Obviously, right? A person wouldn’t smile that big while watching the Daechwita if they didn’t like music.”

He turned to see a girl, donned in a plain-looking blue and purple hanbok, tilting her head at him.

Yoongi blinked and turned to leave. “Hey, wait!”

The girl ran after him. “Hello!”

“Goodbye,”

“What’s your name?” The girl persisted, as Yoongi turned to another pathway, his hands in his pockets.

“None of your business.” Yoongi quipped, shooting the girl an irritated gaze.

“Sorry, I just found it really sweet that you were so happy, watching the Daechwita,” the girl continued. “While I do like music too, I really don’t listen to the Daechwita much.”

Yoongi sighed, deciding to humor the girl.

“You’re a commoner, what business do you have listening to the Daechwita?”

“You’re right, nothing!” She smiled.

“Right.”

Yoongi continued walking, vaguely aware of the footsteps following behind him.

“So, what’s your name?”

Yoongi glared at the happy girl, who only smiled back.

“If you refuse tell me, I will call you Daechwita until you do.”

Yoongi huffed and pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. “Listen, don’t you have anyone else to bother?”

The girl shrugged. “Not really. Besides, everybody in the country is busy these days.”

At this, Yoongi snapped into attention, turning to the girl to gather intel on his mission. “Why? What’s happening?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” The girl snorted before shrugging. “The emperor of Baekje and his… ah… daughters have arrived. The gongju[4] is going to marry the emperor.”

“Emperor Yunki? A wedding?” Yoongi asked. That bastard is getting married?

“Yes.” The girl nodded, smiling.

“Have you seen the emperor yet?” Yoongi asked curiously, taking note of possible locations.

The girl slowly shook her head. “No, I’ve never seen him. I’m just a visitor.”

“From where?” Yoongi asked.

The girl gulped. “Baekje.”

“Ah,” Yoongi nodded. “What was your name again?”

“…Y/N?” The girl replied hesitantly.

So, this is Empress Y/N of Baekje, Yoongi noted before he shrugged. Didn’t know she was this annoying.

“Okay, then.”

He turned to leave.

“Wait, that’s it? That’s your response? To what I just told you?”

He turned his head and raised an eyebrow. “Yes, was I supposed to say anything else?”

The girl’s eyes lighted up. “No!”

Yoongi rolled his eyes and turned to leave when the girl bounded up next to him.

“So, where are you from?”

Yoongi let out an exasperated sigh.

This was going to be a very long day.

[1] In the Joseon era, people told time via sundials and water clocks. As they did not follow the modern format of time yet, they based off of animals. The time of the pig means 9:00 – 11:00 PM.

[2] Based off of the Final Fantasy 7 remake, Whispers were entities that were meant to keep destiny in line. They appear at instances where destiny could possibly change course and make sure that whatever needs to happen, happens. However, this can be broken as Cloud and his team destroys all entities and changes the past, present and future—altering the timeline and creating a new one.

[3] Daechwita is a genre of Korean tradition music played with snares and woodwind instruments. This is usually performed during marching or when the king is out.

[4] Ongju and Gongju are both princesses. Gongju, however is the daughter of the king and queen—a crown princess. An ongju is the daughter of the king and a consort.

Star Wars Rare Pair Exchange Letter

Hello and thank you for selecting one of my ships to write for! I am super excited to see what you come up with. Below I have listed my DNW’s and some prompts for each ship I have requested in the exchange. Please heed the DNW’s, there are not many, but the prompts I have written are more a suggestion and jumping off point than an absolute must-do. If you have an idea you would rather pursue for the pair please do so, I am sure it will be fantastic! 

DNW: Underage, incest, a fic focusing on procreation(sex is fine with protection!)/babies/taking care of children, or a fic that could pass as gen. We are here for rare PAIRS! Not rare friends, lol. Angsty themes/set up is also fine but please have a positive ending, and at least 1/2 of the fic as the comfort aspect. 

Write whatever rating you are comfortable with, however T and up is preferred. NSFW and Xenobiology type things are welcome as is just cute date night and other romantic fluff! AUs are totally fine by me, but I’d prefer them to be sort of generic (like a modern/city AU or pirate AU, that sort of thing) rather than franchise specific (such as a Lord of the Rings AU) since I’ve not delved into many fandoms and would like to know what is going on. Also high fantasy and regency type AU is not a preference of mine, so I would also appreciate that whole genre just not be written for my requests. Thanks!

Canon Crossovers: 

Armitage Hux/Thrawn | Mitth'raw'nuruodo

It’s Thrux! I find the dynamic potential between these two to be fascinating. Feel free to use some Star Wars sillies to bridge the age gap (hyperspace stasis from the end of Rebels to the sequel trilogy, for instance.) The fic does not need to focus on Thrawn sweeping in to ‘save’ the First Order because frankly I think Hux is very competent. Just explore the relationship between Hux and Thrawn however you see fit I suppose is what I mean, be it via their first meeting or 100th night together!

Ezra Bridger/Luke Skywalker

Two beautiful sunbeams! This one can be a bit of a free-for-all, seeing there is so much for them to bond over be it the force/looking at Kanan’s holocron, piloting, or even their status as orphans. To write feels or not to write feels, now that is the question. Some potential prompts can be exploring the force and realizing they can sense the feelings (and crush) that they have on each other, or sitting around after a battle and finding comfort in each other due to the shared experiences they have. Ok perhaps I’m leaning to feels… 

Canon EU

Brierly Ronan/Eli Vanto 

(Treason spoilers ahoy! Skip down to Wyl to not see these…) 

So, these two morons (who we love dearly) got themselves ‘stranded’ in the Chiss Ascendancy. If the Chiss gave Eli a frigid welcome, I can only imagine how they treat Ronan. Not well is my best guess. Eli isn’t exactly Ronan’s best friend at first, but realizes that this transition is difficult and lends a hand when he can and treats him kindly. Things slowly escalate from there… 

Orson Krennic/Brierly Ronan

If you read the book you know exactly what it implies… Orson has Brierly by the heart, and frankly I think that Orson is bound to fall for anyone who praises him as much as Brierly does. This ship can lead to office shenanigans, a night on the town judging architecture, or other simple things made Extra as Heck by this duo. 

Wyl Lark/Nath Tensent

Wyl brings out the best in Nath, and I think the same can be said to be going in reverse. I love the potential in this ship. Just some really great pilot beans. At the end of the novel, at the party, Nath and Wyl wander off and are really enjoying themselves, that could be a good jumping off point. I’m also totally down for plopping these beans in an AU. 

Originals 

Wedge Antilles/Luke Skywalker 

The best pilots in the Rebellion! In love! How can you go wrong with that? Comfort fic has a lot of potential here, but so does just them sharing in something they love, like a hobby or book. AUs welcome if you would like! 

Clone Wars

Obi-Wan Kenobi/Hondo Ohnaka

Or as I like to call it, chaos shipping. I’d greatly appreciate this one tackled in a post-order 66 timeline rather than during the Clone Wars series, or in an AU. I just think it opens up a whole lot of potential seeing there is less guilt in breaking the Jedi Code for our friend Obi-Wan. Plus, I think that's about when he needs the bottle of never ending positivity that is older no-longer-a-pirate-king Hondo. 

Rebels

Alexsandr Kallus/Thrawn | Mitth'raw'nuruodo

In a world where Thrawn chose to not break Alexsandr’s leg for the third time in his life… This ship has so many different ways it could go, but I think my favorite is Alexsandr choosing not to defect and becoming Thrawn’s right hand in the ISB. Think of all the problems that could have been avoided! And you can bet these two are up to shenanigans off duty… 

Ezra Bridger/Thrawn | Mitth'raw'nuruodo/Purrgil King 

Its crack and I love it. Purgill King uniting these idiots. Probably playing with them like Barbie dolls! “Now Kiss!” Said the Purrgil King, smooshing faces together until they agreed to stop biting each other… 

Kanan Jarrus/Thrawn | Mitth'raw'nuruodo

Kanan goes undercover in the Empire enough that eventually he was bound to be caught. An AU could also be fun here to make them slightly less ‘mortal enemies’. Kanan could also offer ‘goods’ to help free Hera if you catch my drift there wink wink. 

Hera Syndulla/Thrawn | Mitth'raw'nuruodo 

Honestly just replace ‘Kanan’ with ‘Hera’ in the above. It’s an aesthetic ship with lots of ways that it could work. This is another one where an AU could help smooth things down, but it’s also a load of fun in the canon to think how it could work, perhaps Hera as the TIE Pilot at the helm of the Defender program. Something tells me it would go much differently with an expert at the controls. 

Resistance

Neeku Vozo/Kazuda Xiono 

Cute! Boys! Teamwork! Sparkles! Honestly these two are absolute fluff and I am here for it. Kaz and Neeku are also both oblivious as all heck, so maybe it will take someone like Tam pointing out that their emotions are mutual. Either way it's just cute and amazing!

1.     A one or two shot (depending on exactly how long it ends up being) about fae!victor and seer!yuuri. Basically an urban fantasy au.

2.     A Fantasy/Elven AU one shot where both Yuuri and Victor are elves who accidentally come into contact with strange fey fruits and drinks, leading to an NSFW reaction with their bodies; long story short someone left a fertility fruit where it shouldn't have been lol

3.     A nonlinear narrative about all the times Victor and Yuuri's lives collided, but one thing or another did not work out. An exploration of how chronic anxiety affects a relationship, and how the various threads of their past experiences combine to what they have in the present day (Yuuri's friendship with Phichit, for example-- with the focus being on Victuuri, of course).

4.     Vlogger AU. Victor and Yuuri are both students at the same university. Victor is a fairly popular vlogger and he starts watching the videos of someone called Katsudon, who never shows his face in his videos. Victor tries to strike up an online friendship with him, and though Katsudon is hesitant at first, they grow closer.

5.     I plan on writing something akin to 25 lives comic. Basically, Victor and Yuuri always meet in all possible universes; whatever, whenever, however they meet, all different ways but their souls intertwine and are connected

6.     A modern Greek mythology AU in which the classical "gods" are simply roles and titles. Sometimes when a mortal dies under specific circumstances they are brought back as one of these gods, with the eternal youthfulness and powers to match. However, they are not immortal and can die again--this time for good. Yuuri was recently remade as the innocent "Kore," responsible for springtime and vegetation, but one day found himself in a perilous situation. Though he assumed it would be the moment of his demise, he was rescued by an unknown being. Eventually becoming unsatisfied with his prescribed role, he sets out to find and repay whomever it was that saved him many moons ago, changing his name to "Persephone" along the way. (Or: A modern Hades and Persephone AU.)

7.     At age 5, Victor Nikiforov took his first skating lesson at St. Petersburg and was immediately enthralled by the sport. At age 10, he could easily outperform other skaters his age. Then, during a family trip to a small town in Japan called Hasetsu, Victor met, and befriended a 6 year old boy when he catches the boy staring at him skate at the local ice rink. All Yuuri Katsuki wanted was to have the same physical capabilities as other children his age. The disappointment he felt when his parents told him that he wasn’t allowed to skate anymore because of a disorder tore at his 5 year old heart. He painfully swore that he would distance himself from the ice, but after a year of avoiding Ice Castle Hasetsu, Yuuri found himself missing skating tremendously. He wandered over to the rink, thinking no one would be there, but instead, was greeted by the fluid movements of his idol. The two strike up a close friendship within a day that left Yuuri ecstatic, but pained at the same time; after all, he couldn’t risk even going on the ice. A story that follows the lives of Victor, a young ice-skating prodigy, and Yuuri, a boy suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, as they grow up and tackle the challenge life throws at them.

8.     It's a Phantom Thief AU where both of them are PTs, always after the same thing...and they fall for each other in the process.

9.     Explicit story - canon divergent AU. A few days after Yuri comes in 6th in Sochi he is preparing for Japanese Nationals. That's when the news breaks that Victor Nikiforov was injured in an accident in St. Petersburg and is in a coma, with an unknown prognosis. Yuri devotes the rest of the season to Victor, and wins worlds in his memory. He then retires. Yuri studied photography in Detroit, and starts photographing empty ice rinks, trying to capture the feel for himself of a figure skating world without Victor nikiforov. It starts as a labor of love. He tries to recreate famous photos of the skater, with the same angles, but in the empty rinks. At first he thinks that there is dust or cracks on his lenses. First a dot, then a strand. But as he photographs more of the empty rinks, and no other images feature these artifacts he starts to put it together. With each photograph he gathers more of Victor's scattered soul. As he continues to photograph the rinks soon Victor's soul starts to approach him in his dreams, and later even waking. Naughty stuff starts happening (yep, with a pseudo-ghost :-P ) Eventually Yuri realizes that he can help Victor and after begging Yakov is granted access to the comatose skater, who regains consciousness as the scattered parts of his soul is finally returned to his body. There might be more after, but that's the bulk.

10. Gen audiences story - Victor learns that Yuri used to volunteer at a small dog rescue while in Detroit. They start making extra time after every exhibition or competition to visit local rescues, take photos with the dogs to signal boost the doggos into new homes, and they might start doing charity exhibitions depending on how the story goes.

11. Pilot AU: Victor is Yuuri's student and falls in love with him while training to be a pilot.

12. In Time AU - A world where people stop ageing at 25, and every person has a digital clock on their forearm. On their 25th birthday the clock starts ticking, if their time runs out, they die. Poor people struggle in a world where time is currency, rich people thrive and live forever. Viktor Nikiforov is the unhappy son of 300 year old parents living in Moscow, the capital city of one of the wealthiest timezones in the world. He wants for nothing, the clock on his arm never in danger of stopping. Yuuri Katsuki's family struggles to make enough time to live, each day filled with work at their failing Onsen in Japan. After Yuuri's sister almost dies, his parents send them both away, to better timezones and brighter futures. After an accidental meeting between Yuuri and Viktor, both of their lives change drastically. Because if one of you doesn't have enough time to sleep and the other can live forever, love is the last thing anyone needs.

13. In-the-near-future Video Game AU: Yuuri Katsuki a.k.a Akira is THE top-leveled Sniper in the new groundbreaking Persona MMO. One otherwise uneventful day, he and hundreds of thousands of other players find themselves trapped inside the game. Loosely based on elements of SAO and Log Horizon, and combining aspects of the epic Persona games, Yuuri finds himself with a power he shouldn't have, in a situation that should be impossible, encountering a man he hasn't seen in ten years. It's going to be a long grind to get out of this alive.

14. I plan on writing a goddess/angel AU + reincarnation AU. Victor and Yuuri are both angels/goddesses. They fall in love, but the heaven council doesn't approve of it because they love each other more than god which banishes them. Yuuri pleads that their love is real/pure; that it isn't he product of the devil pushes them off the path. He says that they could prove it. Pitchit, who's pretty high up in the council, lets his emotions get the best of him and manages to convince the council to give them a shot. So they get 10 lives, they have to meet in them all and fall in love at least once.

15. My story is an AU wherein Viktor is a former principal ballet dancer forced into retirement by an accident/injury, ends up living in Detroit and depressed, ends up meeting and falling in love with Yuuri who works teaching ballet to underprivileged youth in Detroit, and through that finds a source of purpose again.

16. When Empress Katsuki is killed during a skirmish on the border with Yugashina, the prince and heir to the throne of Lesnya, Victor, knows that war is only a hair's width away. To no one's actual surprise all negotiations fail, leaving Victor with little to no choice but to gather up their armies and march on Yugashina. That is, unless he can devise a better solution in time. Unless he manages to smooth this out before both their lands fall to ruin. Unless– He finds a way. Two neighbouring countries in a state of tentative peace. Two royal families trying to protect their own people. And only one thing that can save them all – a royal union that will cement loyalty, breed forgiveness and maybe somehow fix things. Love? Romance? Chivalry? No one really has time for that when there's a country to save, a murderer to find and a husband waiting for your mask to slip.

17. YOI in a Psycho-Pass AU! Yuuri is in detention as a latent criminal when his lifelong anxiety clouds his hue. So when Victor, well-known Inspector for the MWPSB's Criminal Investigation Unit, shows up and offers the chance to leave and become an Enforcer, he takes it despite his doubts. He doesn't know that Victor remembers Yuuri from his past before Yuuri became a latent criminal, and that Victor is battling his own demons and doubts. Drawn into a psychological game with a serial killer, they'll have to learn to trust and see each other past the Inspector/Enforcer roles.

18. Summary: Happiness seems to be a fleeting thing in Yuuri’s life. He’s lived a long and happy life married to Victor, they plan to spend the rest of their lives together but for Yuuri that is suddenly much longer and without Victor. Yuuri finds himself back in Detroit, before he met Victor, before he had even competed in his first Grand Prix. He’s ready to go back , do it over again to find the man he loves but in this timeline, Victor loses his battle with depression and commits suicide. Yuuri is devastated, ready to give up himself when he gets sent back again, and again and again. He keeps trying and failing to save Victor but that’s his only goal because for some reason Yuuri has been given a chance to save this universe’s Victor. He can only hope that the Yuuri that has taken his place is making his husband happy.

19. Grand Theft Auto V-inspired AU. Victor is a criminal who fakes his death in order to restart his life on the right side of the law. Yuuri is a young hustler who pays his bills repossessing luxury vehicles for a sleazy car salesman. When a visitor from the past convinces Victor to join one last heist, Victor unexpectedly takes on the protege he never knew he wanted– or needed– when he asks Yuuri for backup.

20. This story is a tale of Yuuri with the dreaded hanahaki disease, and his struggle to cope with it. Excerpt from the story: "As soon as the first petal fell from his lips, grief filled him because he did not have a chance. Love would not fall upon him, because he was not meant to love. He would let the flower bloom. Fill his chest until there was no space left, until flower spilled from his mouth. He knew death awaited him, but he could not bear to stop the flowers from growing. Not when those flowers meant so much to him."

21. After the war, General Victor Nikiforov is sent to Hasetsu, Japan to rest and recover from his injuries. There he is looked after by Yuuri Katsuki, who served as a medic.

He learns all that he can from Minako, a retired designer who now runs a bar, and attends a college in Paris, France. He interns at a rising label, where he meets Phichit and Chris. Then the label hires Victor as one of the models for an upcoming show. Cue the crazy antics.

24. Super-cut, volleyball ace Victor Nikiforov crushes on Katsuki Yuuri, the bookish editor of the university newspaper. Unfortunately for him, Yuuri doesn’t even register the Hot Ones anymore — they’re either not interested in him or too damn cocky. He makes friends with them and never imagines anything more. Which frustrates Victor to no end. Why won’t Yuuri look at him, like, ever?

Feeling bad about breaking the other skaters glasses Viktor offers to be his eyes during the competition. Yuuri can't see well without them so he doesn't realize that he is being led around by the Viktor Nikiforov.

28. Soulmate au where everyone is born with a small riddle on the inside of their left wrist. Yuuri has the characters for "love" and "mouth" (愛口) while Victor has the phrase "courage to win" (in Cyrillic). They have no idea who the riddle could refer to and have pretty much accepted that they're never gonna find their soulmate. yuuri gets drunk and Victor flies to hasetsu like in the anime and Victor figures out his riddle before yuuri but doesn't tell him they're soulmates until yuuri also figures it out.

30. Soulmate AU with a twist: if the meeting of soulmates does not go right, a person who is fated to be close to the couple must help them find each other... by reliving the day of meeting as many times as necessary. Yurio gets stuck with the train crash that is Viktor's and Yuuri's first meeting at Sochi.

31. Alternate Meet AU where Vic/Yuuri literally run into each other during warm ups earlier in the Sochi GPF season and develop from that point (details include media uproar about them "falling in love??" with pun intended, and Vic being there to support Yuuri when Vicchan dies).

Yurio is also there and he's the one who ends up taking care of them, and making sure they don't get into any trouble or anyone notices that they've been transported from the past. The older ones, meanwhile, are transported in their respective home rinks, St. Petersburg for Victor and Hasetsu for Yuuri. Neither of them know that the other was transported too and god the pining is real. They get into a lot of shenanigans trying to lowkey find out if the other is also in that time. They spend a week in the different points and they get to learn a lot of each other. The priorites of younger Yuuri and Viktor shift as they are gain different perspectives on what skating means for them.

37. Soulmate au combined with struggles with gender identity

38. I plan to write Yuuri as a Manga artist who draws BL (a few normal stories to make sure he earns the money he needs to, of course). Viktor meets Yuuri because he's always been a huge fan while producing his own comics but they aren't as popular. Yuuri immediately finds himself drawn to Viktor the moment he looks at him and decides to share his contact information so they can talk later.

39. Victor Nikiforov accidentally discovered his ability to jump space and time when he was only a child. Subsequently, he lost his parents that day and has been trying to find his long-lost family ever since. But in each jump he takes, he seems to get farther and farther away from home. He's about to give up hope when he realizes there's one person he keeps meeting in each of the different timelines and universes. His name, Yuuri, and his presence in each of the places Victor goes, leads Victor to think Yuuri might be a key. If only he could stop falling in love with Yuuri every time they met.

41.  Sci-Fi/Dystopian Future AU Yuuri Katsuki thinks he has it relatively okay. Sure, scrambling through the Waste as Tech Scavenger isn't exactly a glamorous life, but at least he can keep a (leaking) roof over his head, his nose (kind of) out of trouble, and a (somewhat) stead supply of materials to keep his bionic arm operational. But on one of his solo reconnaissance missions he actually uncovers a VITYA model, one of the rare pleasure bots once manufactured by Nikiforov Inc. Nikiforov as in Viktor Nikiforov, head CEO and founder of the first companies to create and market AI. As in Viktor Nikiforov, Yuuri's long-time idol, a kindred spirit in the robotics and technological field. As in Viktor Nikiforov, the man who vanished five years ago, just before the world went to complete hell. Now Yuuri is thrust on a journey to uncover where exactly his VITYA model came from, what caused Nikiforov's disappearance in the first place, and why a pleasure bot is the most human companionship Yuuri has had in awhile.

42.  It's basically a neighbors AU with romance, drama, humor, and a bit of smut. I'm just going to put down my summary, so you can get a brief idea. They’ve been neighbors for a year now and have been dancing around each other in the stupidest of ways. They can’t seem to figure out that they’re meant to be together even as everyone around them knows that they’re love is practically written in the stars. As the seasons come and go, things tend to get a little crazy, but that’s when the best things happen, right? “Um, I watch our neighbor’s cat on the weekends and she keeps bringing me, erm, things. You wouldn’t happen to be missing some socks and underwear, by any chance?” “Oh my god, Viktor, his fire alarm is going off AGAIN. Either he seriously can’t cook or his hotness keeps setting his place on fire.” Yuuri’s on his balcony, watching the sky burn into vermillion flames and singing along to Pandora. The beat has him dancing, slowly swaying his hips as he waters his plants. Another voice joins his and he turns, jolting and spilling the rest of his water over the side of the balcony. There’s a splash and somebody’s cursing him from down below, but he’s stuck, frozen in mortification as he’s caught by the most gorgeous neighbor in existence. Is it important to mention that he was only in a baggy t-shirt and boxers? “Oh, please, don’t stop on my account.”

43. Loosely based on a comic by underthesaemstar-art. Victor is a noble, bored with his everyday life until a string of robberies shake things up. Yuuri is a servant working for Christophe and the thief behind the robberies. When Victor and Yuuri's worlds collide things become a lot more complicated.

44. Katsuki Yuri had been quite happy to spend his days sneaking glances at the cute tattoo artist from behind unnecessarily elaborate bouquets, but things change when everything falls together. Literally, at that. (or the one where Yuri has a terrible, horrible, no-good very bad half-year with a side helping of awkward situations and one very, very obtuse Victor)

45. I plan on writing a short fantasy fic! Most likely centered around Greek Nymphs or spirits (Yuuri as a water nymph, Viktor as a wind spirit)

46. Yuuri is a warlock/witch who loses something of his power when Vicchan, his familiar, dies. He night he loses Vicchan he unknowingly summons Victor, a demon, who tracks him down and tries to help him get his power back. Featuring Phicit the Imp; Yuri, a lesser god of madness; and Makkachin, the Actually-Immortal Hellbeast.

Who has a minor in Latin and a water bottle of holy water, with a rosary wrapped around his neck. Who has a tattoo on his left inside ankle that appeared somewhere in the year after he leaves Japan and before Phichit becomes his roommate, and a four parallel scars on his right hip, thin and silver white against his skin.

russian names & how to use them: patronyms

So you just finished reading my master guide to Russian names and now you’re looking at your historical / fantasy AU wondering what the heck you’re going to do about all these missing patronyms.

Look no further! Below I’m going to explain how patronyms work plus my own cheat sheet on how to find them & give some new info on Russian that should help. Personally, I believe it helps people’s understanding of things (ie math and languages) to know the whys and hows (to the extent that they can be explained anyway), hence this post.

so what’s up with patronyms anyway????

Patronyms in this case come from Eastern Slavic (Russian, Ukrainian, etc.) naming customs, though they can be found in other places like Scandinavia. Not only have they been traditional for centuries, but it is literally the law in Russia for a citizen to have a patronym. Add that to my previous explanation on how to use the patronym and you can kinda see where they’re a Big Deal, especially for your historical / fantasy AU.

I guarantee you every Russian skater in YoI has one, so let’s see what we can do about filling them in.

A note for historical / fantasy: patronyms with the endings haven’t always been in use, the timeline goes like this, to simplify it:

Patronyms with the -ovich ending were originally for the nobility only, that goes back to Viking times.

In the 17th century, one merchant family was allowed to take patronyms ending in -ovich.

By the 19th century, patronyms with -ovich were in general use.

It’s also worth noting that surnames weren’t used in Russia (as with the rest of Eastern Europe) for a long time, hence the patronyms.

the mechanics of the patronym

Russian is a heavily gendered language. Patronyms are going to have different endings depending on gender. Do not go accidentally calling Mila Mila Ivanovich Babicheva, you just messed up the name by calling her “Mila, son of Ivan”. All three names HAVE to agree in gender, meaning different endings for patronyms and surnames based on gender; this usually means an -a ending.

In a nutshell patronyms are the father’s name + an ending. It’s like an English speaker saying John, son of James, only this is built into the name. So let’s go over the 3 ways these are formed.

1. -ovich (ович) & -ovna (овна)

This is the STANDARD, the other two ways are EXCEPTIONS. Luckily, this is simple. Just take the father’s name & add the endings. That’s it! So, just as an example:

for a guy:  Ivanovich  (Иванович) for a girl:   Ivanovna   (Ивановна)

Viktor is an easy example for this. If Viktor has a child who conforms to Russian naming conventions, their patronym will either be Viktorovich (Викторович) or Viktorovna (Викторовна).

2. -yevich (евич) & -yevna (евна)

Note: the Russian ‘e’ isn’t like our ‘e’, it actually makes the ‘ye’ sound. Remember Viktor’s pet name Vitenka? Yeah, you should be pronouncing that as Vityenka. I don’t know why that transliteration never seems to make it to the Latin alphabet, but this is why we have ‘-ye’ in these patronyms instead of just ‘e’. I’ll be using the correct ‘ye’ for this post, but feel free to remove the ‘y’ in practice apparently.

This ending happens when the father’s name ends in a soft consonant like y. This means Nikolay (Nikolai), Yuri, and Georgi do this. Basically, if it ends in an -i or -y this is what you’re using. Some examples:

guy:  Nikolayevich  (Николаевич) girl:   Nikolayevna   (Николаевна)

guy:  Yuryevich   (Юрьевич) girl:   Yuryevna    (Юрьевна)

3. the curious case of yakov

This is the weirdest exception for just, this one freaking name. Just Yakov. Like, there’s a fourth category too that I won’t be getting into because it’s irrelevant to YoI (unless for some reason you really like the name Ilya). But, Yakov. He gets his own category because his patronym is different.

guy:   Yakovlyevich (Яковлевич) girl:    Yakovlyevna  (Яковлевна)

So if you’re having Viktor use Yakov for his patronym, here you go!

See? Forming patronyms isn’t that scary!

Yeah, I don’t usually form patronyms, I’m too lazy myself. So I’ve learned some tricks on just looking them up. Google typically isn’t your friend here because not every patronym is listed up front and in English. Most of the popular ones are, but not all. So (for modern-based works),

THIS IS THE BEST SITE TO GET PATRONYMICS FROM !!!!

I’m not kidding, this is the Best List. Why? 

Their transliterations are correct (yes, this means they use ‘ye’ instead of just ‘e’). They even include the ‘ but y’all shouldn’t worry too much about that.

It’s surprisingly extensive with the names. They list names that never make it into the Western world.

They include some diminutives & pet names.

They even bold the most popular names for those looking for a quick patronymic.

THIS LIST is also actually really handy for both modern & historical patronyms. If you’re doing a historical / fantasy AU I especially recommend this route because it will give you the old patronyms (so, historical accuracy) and steer you away from names not used in the old days / myths. For modern patronyms, just scroll down to the male names and combine the ‘old patronymic’ with the ‘new patronymic’ - unless the full patronym is listed in the modern section like Arthurovich, then you’re all set. Otherwise, for example:

Name: Viktor Old patronymic: Viktorov Modern patronymic: -ich/na = Viktorovich / Viktorovna

Name: Nikolay Old patronymic: Nikolayev Modern patronymic: -ich/na = Nikolayevich / Nikolayevna

Name: Yakov  (the site lists it as Iakov but Yakov is better for English) Old patronymic: Yakovlev New patronymic: -ich/na = Yakovlevich / Yakovlevna

so what’s this mean for yoi content ????

Well, this doesn’t apply to modern AUs so much as it does for historical / fantasy. I don’t know why anyone else would read this lol.

But for those writing historical / fantasy, this is a pretty good resource for you on being historically accurate. So, if you’re writing Mila into another time period, for example, now you have all the tools you need to give her a patronym and know when to use it. Same goes for the rest of the Russian skaters.

I only have two:

Yuri should be Yuri Nikolayevich Plisetsky (or Nikolayev in an older AU).

I like it when Viktor takes Yakov’s patronym personally. So, Viktor Yakovlevich Nikiforov (or Yakovlev in an older AU).

I can’t comment much beyond this. I’m just here to explain some Russian things. My one request is that Mila not be Mila Ivanovna, lol.
