Do you think, during those seven years, Odysseus imagined what Penelope and Telemachus were doing? To fill the time? Do you think he daydreamed about them endlessly, to cope? Do you think he missed them so bad he was determined to reunite with them again, even if he had to wait for them in the underworld?

The Eighth Child (~TUA AU~) - Season 4
Chapter 3: Next Stop at The End of Time
Warning: Strong language, mild sexual content, death, talk of addiction
(The Eighth Child Masterlist)
Tumblr media
Victoria was scared to walk inside. Partially because the place was condemned and could crumble on them just like when Viktor started having a fit back in the day, but also because she didn't know what to expect. Ben was there and Five said it was her Ben, but what if it wasn't? Last time she had any contact with him, they were fighting for their lives, right before he disappeared forever. It was hard to believe he would simply waltz back into their lives.
All of the doubt and the nerves disappeared the moment she laid eyes on him and realized that was her brother. It wasn't the same as looking at the knockoff Sparrow version, it was a bond that survived time, death, and several ends of the world.
"Ben!" She screamed when the door opened and she ran into his arms crying. "Bennie Boo, I missed you so much, oh my... where have you been?"
"Another timeline," he chuckled and hugged his sister. "Someone told me you married Klaus! How insane is that?"
"I know, I know... it's crazy, but you'll get used to it," she laughed, drying her tears. "You need to meet my daughter, her name is Fortune. We gave her the middle name Bennie."
"That's so sweet... ugh too sweet, you're gonna make me emotional! I didn't think you'd ever forgive me after I made Klaus kiss Jill," he sighed.
"Oh, that? That was a billion years ago, I swear I don't resent you at all for that. It was your chance and you took it, I would've done the same. You need to visit my bakery! The Ben special on my menu is your favorite, torta holandesa."
"With Calipso cookies on the rim?" he chuckled.
"Of course, it's not torta holandesa without Calipso cookies on the rim!" She squeezed him tighter and covered his cheek in kisses. "And when our youngest is born, you have to be there! We'll know very soon if it's a boy or a girl! I have so much to tell you, just... so much."
"Are they always so gross? Good thing she hates me," Sparrow Ben scoffed. "Helloooo, we're all in danger?"
"Oh fuck, yeah," Victoria swallowed nervously, trying to catch her breath. Okay, so what I know is that Abigail, Dad's wife, somehow disguised herself as Sy Grossman and gave us the marigold hoping we'd take it. You're very welcome for that, by the way, we'd be very screwed if I let you do that. Then her plan was that we'd look for Jennifer, who has some sort of anti-marigold in her called durango. Once those two substances interact, horrible things happen... the cleanse. Which from what she said is just killing everyone."
"If it's so dangerous for marigold and durango to interact, that's why Dad locked Jennifer away, which means he didn't know about his wife's plan," Five said.
"He didn't, she said she was doing that because she didn't ask to be brought back to life and blah blah blah," Victoria rolled her eyes. "She created these elements and she wants them to stop existing via the cleanse. In a way, Ben saved all of humanity when his tentacles killed Jennifer and himself that night, this reaction had already started. I remember the glowing rash on his arm, of course he couldn't just leave an innocent girl to be destroyed even though that's what Dad told us to do."
"Good thing I died that once then," Ben tilted his head, thinking. "So the cleanse would be like... a monster that carries the seeds of its own destruction? Kills everyone and then itself?"
"Exactly. Maybe if we got Jennifer to drink some marigold, the cleanse would happen in a contained environment and end this nightmare," Victoria suggested.
"I don't think there is containing the monster, don't you remember what happened the first time?" Luther murmured, giving Ben a look.
"I guess we should first figure out how to get the timelines to merge and leave us with one," Five pinched the bridge of his nose. He was definitely too old to be dealing with that sort of stress.
"Oh easy then," Lila joked.
"There are portals all over the place, we could go down there and try to decode the map. Find a way to shut down the train, anything," Ben said.
"He might be right, we should go down there and see who's in command of the train," Diego nodded. "Let's go."
"Hey guys... I sort of can't," Victoria murmured. "I need to look for Klaus, I think he might have relapsed. We had a big fight and... I need to get him back."
"Can't this wait?" Sparrow Ben grunted.
"No, it actually can't. My husband might be in danger and I don't care if he's a junkie or a germophobe, I love him. I should've never said that him getting clean was the worst thing that happened to me."
"That's harsh..." Allison mumbled.
"Shut the fuck up! I'm already very sad!"
"Alright, we'll go and meet here again ASAP, once we're all together, we fix this shit," Five walked to the door, but Vicky stopped him.
"I need your gun."
"What?"
"I need it, if Klaus is with some sort of dealer or gang member, I need the gun to protect myself and him."
"Unbelievable," he handed her the revolver. "Bring it back without a scratch, that's company property."
**
"I see a huge change in your future, it seems a few people who are holding you down will finally be out of your way... it'll hurt, but you need to let go to make way for your new and improved life," Klaus looked at the tarot cards.
"Should I start the new business then?" The lady in front of him asked.
"Definitely, I see hard times in the beginning, but look," he picked up one of the cards. "Prosperity in the future if you persist."
"Thank you so much," she gave him the payment for the session.
"No, thank you, my dear," he smiled, counting the money.
The lady left and Quinn came in followed by another woman, a beautiful woman in a skimpy outfit.
"Moneeeey!" Klaus cheered. "Here, now you know I intend on paying my debt, so please let me go home. My daughter is waiting, my wife must be worried sick..."
"Nice try, but you're not leaving until the 40k is paid," Quinn grabbed the money. "This is for food, rent, supplies, the stuff you took last night... now you choose, my little star."
He held up ten bucks or a little packet with a couple of pills.
Klaus sighed defeated and took the pills before looking at the woman by the door. "Come on in, let's start your reading, yeah?"
"She's not here for a reading," Quinn chuckled and tossed a strip of condoms at him. "She's here for your other services. Five hundred an hour."
"Wait no no no! I have a wife, I can't do this! I have a family! No offense to this beautiful lady, but..."
"You'll do your job until your debt is paid!"
"Don't worry, you'll like it," the woman placed her hand on Klaus' chest. "I love feminine men, you're so cute."
"So does my wife! I'm sorry, I can't! I can't!" Klaus pleaded while she tried to take his clothes off.
"That's just too damn bad, isn't it?" Quinn huffed while closing the door.
"Too damn bad indeed, too bad you can't take no for an answer," Victoria pointed the gun at him. She had seen that place before, she knew that's where Klaus came to get drugs.
"Who are you?" He raised his hands.
"The wife. Now you can let my husband go or you can go ahead and meet your maker."
"That's cute... do you even know how to shoot? You're some dumb housewife with her daddy's gun."
It had been a while since Victoria experienced that intoxicating feeling, being underestimated because she looked so delicate and docile when she knew she had the power to end that person's life.
"You wanna take the chance?" She smirked.
"You haven't killed a roach in your life, Freckles..."
"Yeah, I haven't," she faked defeat. "But I have killed dozens of people."
Without waiting, she shot him in the head and immediately reached into his pocket to get his gun so he wouldn't try to retaliate in his last moments.
"Piece of shit... girls! You can all go!" She screamed at the young ladies in tiny rooms, probably just as helpless as her husband.
She then opened the door with both guns ready to shoot. The woman, who was still trying to grind against Klaus, let out a yelp and backed away.
"Never touch my man again or I'll put a bullet in your fucking head too! Scram!"
"Victoria!" Klaus was crying tears of happiness, relief, and guilt. "Victoria, my Liebling, my baby! I'm so sorry..."
He ran into her arms and she embraced him too. He felt like a failure for relapsing, but she was ready to help.
"No, no I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said any of that stuff, I should've helped you get over your fear, I should've been more empathetic."
"I should've tried harder, looked for therapy. I also said a bunch of shit I didn't mean, I'm sorry. I yelled at Fortune, I'm such a shit dad..."
"No you're not, you're the best dad ever, you just need help," she smiled sadly. "Tunnie is okay, she's with Claire and Ray."
"So you still love me?"
"Of course I do, I looked for you all night and just killed a man because I love you."
"Help me get clean again? Help me be a better Klaus that you can be attracted to again?"
"Of course," she kissed him softly. "We need to meet the others, there's a whole timeline bullshit going on, I'll explain on the way... but hey! Ben is back! Our Ben!"
"Really? Oh my..." Klaus grinned. "We'll go, we'll go. There's just a place I need to go first."
**
Victoria drove Klaus to the nearest AA meeting. He really wanted to do things right this time.
The moment he entered the room, there was nobody there except for the chairwoman, who was already gathering her things.
"The meeting is canceled," she said. "Nobody's here."
"I'm here," Klaus shrugged.
"Take a pamphlet..."
"What's your name?"
"Stephanie."
"Stephanie, listen, I've been to enough court-ordered rehab to know that if one person shows up, it's a meeting. You might make a motion to adjourn, but I'm not seconding and I've had one hell of a slip, and I'm not leaving until I get my one day chip."
"Fine... sit," Stephanie shook her head, pulling out a binder.
"Well, my name is Klaus-"
"Ah ah, no. If we're gonna stick to the rules, we'll stick to the rules," she started reading from the binder. "Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strengths..."
"It's very important, I know, and you've said it a thousand times. I've heard it a thousand times, can we get to the part where we share?"
"The floor is now open for sharing," she tried not to laugh. "You have two minutes! No more than that."
"Wonderful!" Klaus clapped and raised his hand.
"Alright, how about you?"
"Moi?" She faked surprise. "Thank you Steph, I can call you Steph, right?"
"No."
"Okay... powerlessness... it's all there on the first step, little words on the page, but I never knew what it really meant until I screamed at my pregnant wife, screamed at my child, and took her Barbie cash to only then be forcefully pimped out by a psycho who I owed money to..." He sat down. "Before that, I had three years clean, three whole years. The problem was I was trying to do it all by myself. Staying in my safe little bubble, scared of death, scared of life... scared of life and taking it out on the people who love me the most, one of whom is sitting outside by the way."
"Hey!" Victoria waved through the door. "You go, Babe!"
"That's my wife slash sister," he whispered.
"I'm not gonna ask," Stephanie breathed.
"So I'm saying it for the first time in my life without irony..." he took a deep breath. "That my name is Klaus and I'm an alcoholic. I'm also a complete drug addict. And while we're at it, I'm probably also addicted to love, and sex. Which has been tough cause I haven't gotten laid much since I went totally nuts and my wife stopped being attracted to me because I became insanely boring. I don't even know how I got her pregnant again..."
"Hey, I'm so sorry to interrupt," Victoria opened the door again. "Can he get his chip? We really need to go right now! Claire just said she just got visited by a woman claiming to be Grandma who took Fortune away when she wasn't looking. I already called Five, we're going to see Dad."
"Shit, my daughter!" Klaus took the one day chip and ran off. "Thanks for the help, Steph!"

Summery: Percy and Annabeth are back at Camp Half-Blood for the summer, and Annabeth has something planned (as always).
(a percabeth oneshot that i wrote a long time ago when i had no talent. it’s short but here you go )
Percy Jackson was home.
Well, not ‘home’—he and Annabeth had owned an apartment in New Rome for months now- but Camp Half-Blood would always be one of his homes, no matter where he was. Percy had been back a couple times since they moved,  and this time he and Annabeth planned to stay all summer. They’d gotten here the day before, on August 17th, after celebrating a day early with his mom and Paul.
“Look at all the new campers!” Annabeth remarked, looking around. It was just after dinner, and they were walking by the strawberry fields. She looked so familiar  in her Camp Half-Blood shirt with her bone sword hanging from her belt that he almost did a double take. He was also wearing his old shirt, and he grinned every time he looked down. It was nostalgic, to think back on the old days when he was a kid here. It seemed almost impossible that he had found this place when he was twelve.
Everyone was getting ready for Friday Capture The Flag, demigods were strapping on armor and pulling out weapons. Percy smiled, warmed by the familiar sight, but he felt a twinge of sadness too. He was no longer a camper here
Annabeth understood, though. She squeezed his hand.
They walked together to the canoe lake and sat on the dock. Percy summoned some water into a heart, then a star, then an owl, before letting it fall back down.
“You know, it's almost your birthday, Seaweed Brain,” Annabeth said, grinning. “Our thirteen year anniversary.”
“Wow. That was the best birthday.”
“Yeah. Remember our first date? The one where you got a little less clueless.”
“Hey! I planned that date in Paris, didn't I?” He pretended to argue.
“No. You forgot about our anniversary, and then we rescued George and Martha, and then Hermes planned it for you.”
“Cold.” He leaned down and kissed her, “I promise not to forget again.”
Annabeth rolled her eyes, but she put her head on Percy’s shoulder.
“Hey, are you hungry?” Annabeth asked after a few minutes of peaceful silence.
“Yeah, kinda.” He replied, startled when Annabeth ran up the dock, coming back a few minutes later with two apples.
She tossed him one, and Percy smiled, catching it. He ran his thumb along the smooth red surface and took a bite.
“Did you know that in Ancient Greece, if a boy threw a girl an apple, it meant he was proposing?” She asked. He looked up.
And stopped.
Because….
There was Annabeth, down on one knee, holding a ring. It was blue aquamarine, set into Imperial Gold. She grinned at him. His eyes widened and he beamed back at her.
“Well, I thought I'd switch it up a bit. So, Perseus Jackson, will you marry me?”
For a second, he was speechless, until he  remembered he  needed to say something.
“Yes!” He shouted, throwing his arms around her neck and kissing her. She laughed, sliding the ring onto his finger.
Cheering erupted from all around them. Percy looked around in wonder to find Grover, Piper, Frank and Hazel, Leo, Calipso, Clarrise, Thalia and Reyna and the other Hunters, Will and Nico and Tyson and all the rest of their friends. They lifted him and Annabeth onto their shoulders and threw them into the lake. (He was getting really tired of being thrown into this lake right after big moments like this).
Percy let them float to the bottom and made a big air bubble around them, then hugged Annabeth one more time and kissed her softly.
It was perfect.

Part 5
Optimus had never worn as little as he was in that moment, and considering the situation, he would normally be a lot more anxious about it, but when you're suspended this high off the ground with only two thin strips of fabric holding you up, that was the least of your worries at the moment.
Jadarite, Eion and Calipso were all on the ground, calling up words of encouragement to him as he managed to get the wrap around his torso properly.
Unverlo was up in the rigging alongside some of the workers who maintained said rigging, mostly there to let him know if something got tangled and they’d have to drop him onto the massive padded mat directly under him on the stage.
He took a moment before he began the next stunt to question how Jadarite had even got him into this.
Something about his upper frame physique and how the crowd would love it?
After that thought was done, he let himself go, letting the flow of the fabrics let him spin around and around and around.
Just as he was about to hit the mat, he shifted, and the roll stopped, leaving a perilous amount of fabric left underneath him and his optics having to recalibrate to adjust to the sudden change in depth.
There was a round of applause from those around him as he put his servos and knees to the mat and untangled himself from the fabrics.
Once they were free hanging again, Unverlo and the mechs up in the rigging started to pull it all back up for storage, that had been the last trick he had wanted to get right, so the session was over.
Jadarite offered her servo to him, which he took as she helped him off the mat. “You’re a natural Pax, the crowds gonna love you even more when you get up the confidence to do it in front of them.” She praised, shifting to walk with him off the stage and down to where the tables and chairs were for the guests, a servo resting on his opposite shoulder as the predominantly white femme led him down and around to the doors that led to the network of workers only corridors that would in turn lead to the dressing rooms.
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. “You sure Boss? I’m still feeling pretty wobbly.”
Jadarite chuckled with a lot more conviction than his own. “How many times do I have to tell you I’ve got an optic for talent Pax? Everyone is wobbly to start with! Why when I was at your level of experience I ran face first into a pole in the middle of a performance and knocked myself out!” She exclaimed, whacking her forehelm with her palm to emphasise the incident.
He gave her an awkward chuckle. “Hopefully I don’t do that…”
She went to reply back when the ships intercom came to life, and one of the Captains, it wasn’t easy to tell which with just the voice, started to speak. ::Attention all Passengers and Crew, we will soon be arriving at the Intergalactic Port, Galvara-5, if this is your departure call, please make sure you have everything you have brought with you packed away, as we will not be turning around for an errant data pad. For those who are not departing us at Galvara-5, we will be docked for two cycles, if you are not back on the ship exactly two cycles after we arrive, we will leave without you.::
He made a face. “That’s a bit harsh…”
Jadarite shrugged. “Think of it from their perspective, The Polaris is a literal city, does a city stop for one data pad?”
“No?”
“No, plus, being blunt about this and having it as part of the policy prevents grounds for lawsuits… it’s been company policy since the time of their Grandsire being in charge of the fleet.” She explained.
Optimus nodded. “That makes sense… so… Galvara-5? What’s it like? I’ve never been off Cybertron before.” He explained.
“Oh it’s hectic, because The Polaris and the rest of the fleet have it as their first docking spot after Cybertron, there’s always at least ten companies fighting and throwing money to have their cargo to get the fast track treatment.” She explained. “That’s something the Captains handle though, everyone else gets two cycles to hit up the clubs and tourist traps that have sprung up since the Fleet started using this place, before the Fleet took it as their first landing spot, it was apparently a pretty standard space port, now, it’s supersized and handles everything coming through this Quadrant, The Polaris is still the largest docking ship by leagues, of course.” She puffed up a bit as she stated that.
That was something he noticed, all the mechs and femmes who worked on this ship seemed to hold a great deal of pride, especially those like Jadarite, who felt like someone who knew the ins and outs of the ship better than she knew how to dance, which was saying something, he’d seen her during some of the shows, she could cut a rug and make artwork out of it.
“So, want to see Galvara-5 for yourself?” Jadarite offered. “We don’t have to put on shows during docking periods, it’s expected most bots will get off to take in the scenes and sights instead.”
He shrugged. “If that’s the case I certainly don’t mind.”
Jadarite beamed. “Wonderful, we can all go as a group and do a bar crawl! How does that sound?”
He chuckled. “Sounds good… so long as I’m not the only one carrying everyone’s drunk afts back to the ship. Especially Drakus, I don’t know about you, but I might need to go see Dust for a thrown out back strut if I tried to carry him!”
Drakus was the ‘big mech’ of the entertainment department, and was apparently very good at tossing the smaller bots into the air for more dramatic stunts, luckily Optimus was just above the weight that Dust allowed the mech to toss.
Jadarite chuckled in turn. “Ah’ll remember that kiddo! Now how about you go and get changed out of that get up? Hmm? Before a lost passenger sees you and catches feelings!” She jested, nudging him ahead of her and into the changing rooms.
Suddenly reminded of just how little he was wearing, Optimus yelped and tried to cover himself up, earning another truly raucous laugh from Jadarite.
Cybertron
Megatron had to admit, he was having a hard time paying attention to what he was doing.
He had the star map for the Trans Galactic fleet folded up on one side of his desk, if the Polaris was making good time, they’d be arriving at Galvara-5 soon, and hopefully one of his friends would have the chance to give him a call.
He was itching to hear about Orion, make sure the dancer was doing alright.
He’d sprung the change of employers so quickly on the mech, he’d wanted to give him time to pack and the like, but his concerns over Shockwave pulling something had overruled that wish.
A knock at his door drew his attention away from the paper work he’d been looking at without actually reading. “Come in.” He spoke.
The door opened and he would admit to himself, he was surprised to see who walked in. “Blackarachnia?” He asked in surprise as the femme walked in.
The femme, known infamously as the Queen of the Insecticons, looked murderous, melt a poor soul into the sidewalk for being within her vicinity murderous, he was surprised Lugnut let her reach his office with that expression. He might need to go and check for his body...
“What. The frag did you do?” The femme hissed out.
“You know full well your going to have to be more specific than that.”
“Optimus. What the fuck did you do to him!” She snapped, lips pulled back in a snarl.
“Who?” He asked, he’d never heard of a mech called ‘Optimus’. He had a feeling BlackArachnia was misplacing her anger. “BlackArachnia, if one of your… associates has gone missing, I am not the one responsible.”
She blinked at him dumbstruck for a moment before snarling again. “Don’t pull that slag with me! You’re in deep slag you idiot! The Elite Guard’s started a murder investigation on you!” She snapped out.
His optic ridges shot up. “...What…”
She nodded. “You killed their informant. I knew him… he… he used to be my friend… before… this…” She gestured to herself. “Words spreading fast… surprised you didn’t hear about it before me… So… what the frag… did you do… to Optimus?”
He shook his helm. “I’ve never met a mech by the designation ‘Optimus’.” He tried to explain.
She sighed. “Baby blue face, bright blue helm piece with finals, waist that should not be supporting a chassis as broad as his?” She began to list off.
That was all he needed to hear for his attention to go to a black and white photo on his desk, framed in a quaint wood frame, he slowly turned it to face her. “Your… Your describing Orion.”
“Orion? Frag… he used a cover name… wait… you didn’t know he was an informant?”
Megatron felt something in his spark drop. “No… I didn’t…”
She looked at him confused. “Then… why did you kill him?”
“I didn’t!” He exclaimed, affronted at the very idea of him being responsible for Orion… Optimus… Orion’s death. “He’s not dead!”
“Then where is he?! He was Magnus’ favourite once upon a time! And he’s using the fact that he’s not been seen in weeks to build a murder case on you! They’ve had ships trawl the docks for his body!”
He froze then. “What… wait… the docks?”
She nodded. “Yes! Everyone knows you took him to the docks with Lugnut and Shockwave! Everyone… came to the conclusion you… put him in the Docks… you didn’t… put him in the docks…”
He shook his helm. “No… I had his contract changed from being in my name, to the name of an old friend. He’s on their ship as we speak.”
BlackArachnia’s shoulders dropped in relief. “He’s not dead…”
He nodded, but his expression soured. “Now that we’ve established that… what’s this about him being an informant?”
BlackArachnia made a face. “That I don’t know much about… but what I do know is… it’s a scandal in the Elite Guard… Magnus apparently never cleared this… Sentinel Prime went behind his back and made Optimus work as an informant for him… Optimus wasn’t part of the Guard… he was a civilian… that it seems… Sentinel strong armed into getting information on you for him… That’s all that’s gotten out into the rumour mill so far…” She explained.
He hummed and intertwined his digits. “The ship with… Optimus… on it… is soon to arrive on Galvara-5… I will address the Captains and see about getting proof that he is alive and well on the ship… that will hopefully enough to clear me of murder when a trial comes… Thank you BlackArachnia… for bringing this all to my attention… Now I know to be prepared...”
BlackArachnia nodded and took that as her que to leave.
It would seem, it was more than just Sol and Neb that he would need to speak with on the Polaris… directly.
The Polaris Bridge.
Nebularburst yawned as she watched the bid prices roll in, Solarstorm was handling the auction itself in Galvara-5’s trading hall, everytime they flew through here, wealthier and wealthier companies and syndicates were throwing more money at them to get their stuff along the flight path they had.
A chipper autotone voice pipped up from the main console. “Tired Pilot?”
Nebular snorted. “Me? Tired? Child who do you think you are suggesting that?”
The voice snickered through the speakers. “This child~ Who knows you haven’t recharged in four cycles.”
“You’ve been using the security cameras in our quarters to spy on me again… haven’t you?”
“........... Fraggit…”
“POLS!”
“Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!” The voice yipped.
Nebularburst sighed, rubbed the sides of her helm. “No… no… I’m sorry… I know it’s pointless thinking we can have you keep some of your innocence… what with what we have you do on the outer rim…”
“What I do on the outer rim is my duty… I’ve known my duty since the cycle you brought me online… I should still try not to swear like those who work in my engines...”
She patted the console gently. “It’s okay… HOLY FPPPFTTT…” She suddenly exclaimed, puffing out her cheeks to stop herself from cursing as she pointed at the sudden spike from the Auction count. “Someone just bet a brand new mining colony filled with rare ores!”
“WHAT?!”
“... Looks like we’re going to be even more busy now…”
“Think there will be useful stuff to be found?”
“I don’t know… but it looks like that plus a whole warehouse full of credits is the winning bid… the others are declining raising the stakes… Looks like the Prince of the Empire of Falgranum… Wonder what he wants us to ship for that much…” She mumbled.
She didn’t get anymore time to ponder as the bridges com-link was pinged by a familiar number.
Nbbularburst beamed. “It’s Megzy!” And sent the clearance for the call to go through.
:We need to talk.:
Her optic ridges shot up. That didn’t sound good.

Calling in a Favor part 4
Ultra Magnus was not having the best of cycles.
The cycle had started with him waking up with a crick in the neck, and it had been joined by a headache caused by the presence of one Sentinel Prime.
He reminded himself that everyone grieves differently, but the ego of his second was honestly starting to grate on his patience.
Half way through reading a report, he caught the sound of a commotion not far from his ground floor private office, taking a long suffering sigh, he got up, poured himself a cube of high grade, and stepped out to deal with whatever Sentinel was likely upset about this time.
Had some poor bot put the filter in upside down in the general energon dispenser again?
Was there a tiny crude drawing scratched into a surface he spotted?
Maybe his attempt to flirt with First Aid had backfired in his faceplates again and she was giving him the what for…
Or perhaps his second in command was having his faceplates smashed in by the business end of a wrench that a familiar pseudo retired medic was wielding.
Ultra Magnus let the shock show on his features for a few moments before he schooled them and spoke up, using his ‘I’m in charge’ voice that he knew carried well enough to get everyone (hopefully Ratchet included) to stop what they were doing and shut up.
“What, in the infernal pits of Kaon, is going on here?!”
Everyone froze.
Except Ratchet who got one more good swing in past Sentinel’s feeble attempts to prevent it.
He looked between Sentinel and Ratchet, expression furrowed into a frown. “Ratchet, this is not like you, what has happened?”
Sentinel, who was pinned under the older, smaller, supposedly not as aged as he looked mech, growled. “What does it look like Sir?! This maniac attacked me!”
Ratchet got up, but kept a pede firmly planted on Sentinel’s chassis, likely leaving a dirty footprint on his shirt. “Oh, you don’t know, I’ll tell you, and every bot here what happened.” He paused, the dramatic effect was certainly felt. “This morning, I heard a ruckus above my clinic, I go to investigate, only to find one of the tenants, Bumblebee, in hysterics and screaming at his apartment mate Bulkhead, it took me getting two cubes down him and four trips to the can to purge before he spat out what happened.”
Another pause for an effect, but this time it felt more like the medic was taking a moment to compose himself before trying to continue, the look in his optics suddenly becoming haunted.
“Optimus is dead. The mob got him. Bee was a bartender at one of the clubs apparently, one of the goons told him why one of his best friends hadn’t shown up. They took him to the Docks last night and he never came back.”
The words hung in the air for a time no one present really thought to keep track of.
What broke the silence was the cube of high grade Ultra Magnus had been holding, the cube smashing on the ground just ahead of him, spilling its contents across the floor.
The sound of the cube shattering snapped Magnus back to the present. “My upstairs office. Now. Sentinel, you too.”
Sentinel grumbled as he got himself upright and trunched after the two senior mechs, barely squeezing into the lift between Ratchet and Magnus before the doors closed, having chosen to turn around at face the doors along with the two so as to avoid optic contact with the medic who’d just been trying to rearrange his face with the wrench he was still holding, he could feel energon dribbling down his faceplates.
Once they were all behind the soundproofed and locked door of Ultra Magnus’ entire upper floor spanning office, did he turn and address Ratchet. “Ratchet… I understand your distress, I was of the impression you had taken Optimus under your wing so to speak… But…  You are aware you just assaulted my second in command with a wrench, correct? I really should be arresting you for that, but I have a sneaking suspicion you had a rather good reason for targeting Sentinel, correct?”
Ratchet’s gaze locked on Sentinel and turned murderous. “Looks like you never told your boss, how about you tell Magnus now what you’d been holding over Optimus’ helm?”
Sentinel, with his now rather smashed in faceplates, still managed to look like a mechabuck caught in high beams.
Magnus turned to look at Sentinel as well, an incy disposition falling over the head of the Elite Guard.
“Sentinel Prime… What in the name of Primus… did you do.”
It was at that moment that Sentinel knew… he was slagged… and Optimus wasn’t alive anymore to take the fall for it… not again.
The Polaris
Optimus waved Shrike and her younglings goodbye, they’d been paged by Shrike’s lieutenant about a fight breaking out in the main engine room, not a joor after they’d finished touring that area.
Apparently her way of dealing with such issues was to, and to quote Rumble, a youngling, directly ‘Bea’ tha bolts ou’ ah those slag suckers!’
He distinctly remembered that some of those slag suckers were the twins sparkling sitters when Dust managed to catch Shrike and attempt to put the femme back together.
Optimus shook his helm at the whole thing, making a personal note not to take a trip to the engine rooms unannounced, as lovely as all those giant oil and grime caked mechs and femmes had been, they were all rather quick to brawl, and some of their fists he swore were bigger than his whole helm.
He turned to regard the door Shrike had left him standing outside, and after a moment, knocked, Shrike had said something about him finding his direct supervisor inside.
The door swung open after a swift ‘Coming!’ and he was brought faceplates to faceplates with a pure white armoured femme who came up to about his chassis, who had a metric ton of vibrant organic plumage sticking out from one side of her helm, specifically around her audio.
The femme looked up, took in the sight of him, and tutted. “Orion right?” He nodded. “Goodness Shrike took you to the engine rooms! You’re filthy!”
He jerked his helm down to look over his casual attire. “Oh! Oh no this was just the first stuff I grabbed out of my r-”
The femme didn’t let him finish, promptly dragging him by the collar into the room. “Everyone! Calipso! Get me a dressing gown! Eion put down the optic liner and help me get this mech to the showers!”
Mechs and Femmes alike, all of them arguably some of the most beautiful and gorgeous bots he’d ever seen all spun in their make up chairs to look him up and down, some of which still applying make up to their features as they did so.
Two jumped up, a mech who was mostly soft greens with a red highlight colour that framed his lithe figure, and a femme of soft lilac and blue who looked half dressed if the fact she was only wearing a form fitting dress and nothing else was anythign to go by, she wasn’t even wearing shoes.
All of this he was able to take in in the few short moments he had until the mech, he assumed to be Eion, pulled him into what he guessed was the mech shower room, and began setting up a stall for him.
A dressing gown was tossed at him before the doors were shut to the shower area, leaving just him and Eion.
The mech chuckled and offered a servo. “Eion, Orion right? Congrats on getting the spot.”
Optimus’ jaw was hanging a bit. “Um… what? I’m sorry I’ve been told… very… very little about what’s going on here… where am I?”
Eion laughed. “You’re on level four, and this chunk of the level is set aside for us Entertainers, the femme who dragged us in is our supervisor, Jadarite. The rest of us, you now included, all work in the main entertainment district of the Polaris. Dancers, wait staff, table jockeys, that kind of stuff… got any experience with dealing out tables?” Eion asked.
Optimus shook his helm. “Um no… I was just a waiter and danced back at the club… sometimes I also sang, sometimes.” He flushed the full way through the admission of his previous roles.
Eion smiled, hopped up and patted Optimus on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, I’ll help you get up to speed, but Jadarite was, well, right, you are filthy, c’mon, showers work like any other shower, but be careful, the max temp is only the max temp because we have some sadomasochists on board who get their jollies off going to Dust for scalded plating!” He grinned and giggled as his own apparent joke, whacking him on the shoulder quickly.
Optimus knew his jaw was hanging a bit, it felt like it was going to be a permanent expression on his features for quite a time to come. “Why do I feel like… at least half of this ship is on their way to going insane?”
Eion really laughed then, waving the mech off. “Comes with the territory! I’m assuming you’ve never been off the home world before?”
Optimus shook his helm.
Eion grinned. “Then don’t worry, you’ll be one of us in no time in that department too! Now wash up! And dump those clothes in the hamper over there, they’ll be given a proper wash and sent to your new quarters long before we’ll be done with you for the cycle!”
And with that, the green and red mech slipped back out, closing the door behind him and leaving Optimus to stand alone in the mechs showers holding a dressing gown and wondering what fate Megatron had thrown him to.
Tentatively, Optimus got to undressing, spotting the hamper Eion had mentioned and dumping them all inside and silently hoping he didn’t loose them, he hadn’t had time to pack anything at all, not even a spare change of briefs.
He didn’t bother to don the dressing gown just yet, putting it up on one of the hooks a safe distance away from the showers next to where a number of unbelievably plush towels were hung, they were so soft…
Before he even knew what he was doing, he had one of the towels and was just rubbing his face against it, it was so soft and fluffy he could just melt!
He supposed otherworldly soft towels was a good quality he could chalk up to working here.
Knowing he’d get to wrap himself up in at least two of those towels once he was washed, he moved over to the showers and inspected them, the controls looked simple enough, hot and cold were colour coded and he just needed to lift the lever like nob up to increase the pressure.
Picking a temp a bit below the ‘you sadomasochists’ engraved plaque that was over the dashed part of the red, Optimus braced himself and turned on the shower head he’d found himself under.
HOT.
He jumped back, luckily the tiled floor was dry so he didn’t slip, but Primus!
Oh right, he’d not had a hot shower since his cycles at the academy, wanted to avoid paying a high heating bill.
Steam was already starting to billow out from around the spray, bringing up the humidity of the area.
He reached past the spray and notched down the temperature and tested it again with two digits, still warm, not scalding.
Bracing himself, he stepped back under, and got to work trying to get himself presentable, making use of a handy little solvent dispenser that was mounted on the wall in a little wire basket just to his left.
Eventually the suds and solvent were all washed away, and the water running off his frame was just as clear as when it hit his helm and the broad span of his back.
Turning off the faucet Optimus looked out at the steam filled room, and carefully, mindful of the now wet floor, stepped over to the towels and where he’d left the dressing gown.
The first one he used to rub down his frame to get the water that was taking it’s time vacating the panes of his frame, the second smaller one he used to rub his faceplates dry, as well as focus on the harder to reach spots.
All done with drying off, he slipped the dressing gown on.
And oh he was never getting out of this, the inside lining was even more soft, and fluffy!
He gave himself a few kliks to just melt into the softness before he moved back to the door that led back out to where all the other bots were.
He cracked the door open, and found many of the bots from before were gone, Eion was still there, as well as Calipso and Jadarite, but only two others remained, and they seemed to be just finishing the last of their apparel.
Jadarite turned to regard him and smiled. “Much better darling, c’mon out, there’s no need to be shy.” She coaxed, she was an older femme who had apparently perfected the ‘soothing frightened bots’ voice, because the moment her servos took his, he was more than willing to step back out into the main area, despite only wearing a dressing gown, he should feel more… not ashamed, he’d done nothing wrong, embarrassed? No… considering how communal everything in this area was, he couldn’t imagine these bots around him being very prudish.
Jadarite patted his shoulder once he was seated at a vanity that was much more barren than the rest of those in the room. “Alright dear, let’s see how we can gussy you up right pretty with what we’ve got here.”
He nodded, and just let them do what they wanted.
Three joors, a number of rambles about Knockout’s skill of being better than him at this sort of thing, and a whole reel of measuring tape, and the, dress prep? Was complete.
Jadarite clapped her servos together, and spun his chair to face the mirror.
Okay, he’d bite, he looked good, the eyeliner in particular was really framing his optics well while also defying the laws of physics to a truly astonishing degree.
Calipso, who was a rather timid thing, gave him a small smile. “We’ll figure out stuff like what colours work best with you and if plumage works next cycle, do you wanna keep that stuff on and wash it off later or do you prefer us getting it all off now?”
He glanced to the three who’d laboured and experimented away at his features for the last three joors to get him looking this good. “Um, I’ll keep it on? So… what next?”
Jadarite beamed at him. “Now’s the fun part, the shows over for the night, so everybots gonna be coming back to finish up for the cycle, and from there, we’re all hitting our private bar here on deck four. If you want to come along, I’m sure Unverlo will be able to lend you something comfortable, he’s a bit bigger than you so you shouldn’t have any issue with fitting into something of his.”
“You’re sure he won’t mind?”
Apparently the mech in question didn’t mind at all, and had an apparently love for big, fluffy and baggy jumpers, which hung off one of his shoulders no matter how many times he tried to adjust it while he found himself sitting at the Entertainers private bar and had conversations struck up with him by basically everyone he was going to be working with.
The Bar was, Optimus couldn’t describe it in a single word, but everything seemed to of been designed for relaxation and winding down.
There was dim mood lighting that pulsed around the room, the only stron light coming from the vibrantly coloured tanks of energon that bubbled and churned behind the bar.
The opposite side from the bar was where the tables were, built into the wall around circular tables, the padded seats had enough room for everyone.
Opposite from the entrance, and passed a small dance floor, with a familiar pole mounted in the centre, was a floor to ceiling window out into space, the stars beyond providing a stunning backdrop to the bots dancing.
Unverlo, the mech he was currently sitting next too at the bar was a soft spark with a love for neo-felines, he apparently had four in his own suite and he had maxed out three data-pads image storage with pictures and videos full of the brightly coloured, highly affectionate things.
Unverlo admitted he spoiled them all rotten with treats and affection.
Optimus had cooed over every picture and goofy video he’d seen, even asking at once point if he could be taken to see them one cycle.
Unverlo was more than happy to accept, setting a date and time right there and then before taking a cube of mid grade, he apparently wasn’t too fond of high grade, something about his tanks not agreeing with it, before he vacated the seat next to Optimus and let someone else quickly take it.
Which turned out to be Calipso, who struck up her own quiet conversation with him.
The rest of the night cycle continued like that until Jadarite announced it was time for everyone to retire, which many did without too much grumbling.
Some left in pairs, others in small groups, Eion offered to show him where his room was and he gladly accepted, Unverlo had already left so he assumed the soft baggy clothes would be returned to the mech the next cycle when clothes more suited for him were ready.
Admittedly he’d miss the jumper.
Eion led the way to his new room, providing some idle chatter about this and that as Optimus took the time to appreciate just how, luxurious everything was.
Him bumping into Eion’s back was what snapped him out of appreciating the decor.
Eion held up a key, not a key card, but an actual key and passed it to him. “Don’t loose it, okay? The smith here on the ship doesn’t like it when bots loose his keys.”
Optimus nodded in understanding. “I understand, thank you Eion… would you be willing to collect me tomorrow? I fear I may get lost a number of times before I get proper bearings of this place.”
Eion smiled up at him and nodded. “Sure thing! I’ll come pick you up before morning feuling, see you then Orion!” The mech waved goodby as he walked off, heading towards his own suite.
Optimus watched him go for a few moments, before turning his attention to the door and sliding the key into the keyhole.
A quick twist and the sound of a needlessly complicated locking mechanism coming undone later, and he was stepping into his suite.
The moment the room registered to him, he did a double take.
It was larger than his shared apartment back in Iacon!
His jaw was dropped once more as he took in the sprawling open plan suite.
A glance to his right revealed a modest kitchenette, fridge, oven, energon dispenser, sink, a number of sleek engraved cabinet doors…
A glance to the left revealed the open door to a lavish wash rack, there was even a bath large enough for him to submerge in completely!
He walked into the washrack and felt his lower jaw threaten to fall off, it wasn’t just a bath, it was a Primus be damned jacuzzi!
He found four dressing gowns hanging by the door, and soon discovered his alias designation of ‘Orion’ had been stitched into each on the breast pocket in cursive text, in golden thread no less.
He found some make up wipes in a draw under the mirror in the washracks, and after a bit of hesitation, wiped off the makeup he’d been wearing, he was planning to locate the berth and pass out, and he didn’t want to make a mess of the pillows he had a hunch were going to be just as lavish as everything else.
Finished with cleaning himself up, Optimus stepped back out into the open plan living area, there was a number of pieces of furniture dotted about with little tables and table lights next to them, perfect for some light reading under soft light.
He’d have to see about acquiring some data pads from the Library Neolock had mentioned earlier, apparently it was two floors down nearby that floors branch medical bay.
Walking through the door into the berthroom, he had to do a double take.
That berth could fit four of him!
He was hit by a sudden wave of exhaustion, and suddenly he didn’t care that the berth was massive, wider than his old room in Iacon was, he reached the end, fell into a crowl, kicked off his shoes, and slid face down onto the covers and just took in the smell of freshly washed sheets.
Running his digits over it, he marveled at the texture, cool to the touch, but promising to trap heat…
A bit of fumbling later and he was under the covers, snuggled into one of the ludicrously plush pillows.
Recharge claimed him before he could even turn the rooms lights off.
A few moments later the lights flickered out, and an airy giggle came over the speaker nestled in the wall.
“Sleep well new crew.” An autotune voice whispered, as the lights in the rest of the room shut off, and the door left unlocked deadbolted itself shut.
