Weird little Dina headcanon: she has secret hiding spots all over Caliosteo, at least one place in every dig site.

No one has ever found them all...

Not the patrol team,

Not even Dino.

She can just vanish for hours on end and there's only a small chance you'll find her at all.

There are some places that the patrol team and Dino ARE aware of, but those are the spots that are easier to find and get into.

Fossil Fighters Headcanons because it's 3:00 AM and I can't sleep.

Most Vivosaurs do not make good pets. Not because they're too wild or anything, but because they're too big or (sometimes) require water when out of battle.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of your Vivosaur, quite the opposite! You should take time outside of battle to bond with your Vivosaurs.

The most popular Pet Vivosaurs are the really small Pterosaurs and theropods.

Tro act like cats. Really intelligent cats.

Dino Medals provide energy for Vivosaurs due to remnants of the Stone Sleep Revival technology they were based on.

Champions takes place about a year after the original Fossil Fighters. This is why Dinaurians aren't really common yet.

Frontier is an AU because that game sucks. (Actually because there are so many things that are different that I'm not even gonna try and explain it.) That said, the plot still does happen in the main 'verse, albeit with some fairly major changes. I might cover that sometime, because I have IDEAS.

Joe Wildwest set up a group chat between the patrol team, the staff leaders and the BB commanders.

He regrets this decision immensely.

Dina and Dino are siblings.

Dino won the Caliosteo cup, Dina saved the world.

Dina is a disaster lesbian.

She had an instant crush on Pauleen once she saw her without the mask.

She also got a huge crush on Lola.

Dina is a chaotic gremlin. Her Dimetro and Compso are enablers.

Hunter, Rosie, and Duna are all in a relationship together.

None of them quite know how it happened.

They know it's Raptin's fault somehow.

One of the big problems that happens post-champions is figuring out what country will allow some dinaurians to settle.

No country has accepted so far, though they're pretty sure once one country does it, the rest will follow

The sub-idolcomps, now that they don't have as much to do, enjoy pranking Raptin.

He almost doomed Earth, they're allowed to be petty.

Another princelyhero headcanon

Since Rupert and Dino are basically celebrity fighters, for fear of other people’s reactions (particularly Rupert’s father because while he’s trying to let go of worrying what his father thinks, it’s just something so cemented in him to do and he worries about this nonetheless) their relationship is secret, really only known among the Caliosteo Patrol Team. The both of them have mastered the art of escaping crowds to run off together, and Todd and Pauleen are more than happy to distract fans so Dino and Rupert can have time together in actual peace and quiet.

It's a BareBones Brigade Halloween!

I'm sad that I don't have something new to post for this year's leadup to halloween, but this is an illustration from last year that's still very close to my heart. Everyone on Caliosteo is here celebrating together, the patrol team, the former commanders of the BB Brigade, and even Joe Wildwest himself. What's more, it seems they all decided to collaborate and dress up with some BB Brigade flare (maybe it reminds them all of the good old days).

I remember working tirelessly on this one for a near month, and it was honestly a really fun project in hindsight that I wish I could replicate. I have the distinct memory of staying up all the way until Halloween morning making sure that it was perfect, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Since the image is a bit widely cropped and not the most "mobile friendly," here are some close-ups on the batches of characters scattered around Ribular Isle. Dina and Rupert sticking close together (as usual), Cole lashing out at Lester after finding out that he stole some of his hair dye (as usual), and Pauleen's Amargo acting snarky, Todd getting himself into trouble (as usual).

Here are also some WIPs from this one. This was the beginning of the phase where I started refining my sketch lining rather than doing a whole separate layer of lineart on top of an original sketch. It's honestly super satisfying, and I recommend anyone who likes drawing to try it out!

As for the lighting, when I do a shading layer I like to change everything underneath to be a solid white, it makes it easier for me to create realistic lighting in a 3D sense, almost as if I'm forming the shape of a sculpture. Plus, when it comes out like this before adding in color everyone here looks like a ghost >< (how appropriate)

One more thing, I made these little pfp icons to go with the Halloween vibe, also making one for Kris (one of the characters from my own Fossil Fighters sequel story). All of their last names are purely headcannons of mine, but there's still a bit of meaning behind all of them.

Being that I'm half Greek, I've always seen Dino and Dina as being short for Κωνσταντίνος and Κωνσταντίνα respectively (also because that happens to be my Greek name, where Dean comes from ><) so I think it makes sense to give them a Greek last name that may or may not also connect to something in my own story.

As for Rupert (still going with my own headcannons), both he and Kris originally hail from Bockland, a European-based Fossil Park that's just as big as Vivosaur Island/Caliosteo. Both of them act so posh and well-mannered, and I'd love to come up with a reason for imagining Rupert with a slight British accent. Kris's story comes a good 9 years after the events of the first 2 games, but she shares a lot in common with Rupert back when he was her age, much more than just being from Bockland.

Favorite side ark in the fossil fighters games?

Oh gosh it's hard to decide because two certain arks are my favorite: The Nick Nack ark in the original and the Princess Pooch ark in Champions.

I feel like they mix in just the right amount of zany with plot progression to feel both fun and important errands! Princess Pooch's helps with unlocking the Miraculous Fossils and keeps the weird lore of dogs being intelligent enough to Fossil Battle from the first game and Nick Nack's even ties in Dr. Diggin's lost sandals. Nick Nack also has one of the most memorable themes lol.

Favorite characters/character dynamics?

Dynamic-wise: Hands down, the BB Brigade in Champions. They play off of each other so well and (even though I think their writing with Don/Joe is flawed) I wish we could have seen them more with Joe after the main story!!! The Patrol Team even has a great dynamic that is very fleshed out by the end of the game. I'm even enjoying Becky and Sean's sibling relationship in Frontier at the moment. Also, I like Dynal's dynamics/interactions with EVERYONE in the original. The guy clearly brings a presence that makes you want to pick at him, especially with Dr. Diggins, Raptin, and Duna.

Characters: OBVIOUSLY Joe Wildwest!!!!!!! Other favorites include Duna, the BB Brigade, Patrol Team, Drake, Violet, and Sean and Becky are growing on me.

Headcannons?

TONS!!!! Oh god UUHHHHH WHERE TO BEGIN-

Stella is takes her job the most seriously but she also wouldn't she she's married to her job of being a Staff Leader. Joe can trust her with almost anything in the park. She's also a lesbian.

Terry and Kent are not as professional as Stella but they still take their job seriously. Terry tends to be more aloof while Kent would rather snowboard. They are Bi but don't really seem interested in dating as they are currently in positions that make it hard to date.

Dr. Diggins was probably really scared to see Dynal again after the Guhnash battle because Dynal is going to learn one way or another that he stole the Dinurian tech from that crashed ship. Dynal eventually is told the truth by him and just goes 'okay' since it's not much of a big deal anymore.

I have this very specific headcannon that curators and just fossil fighters in general who work in museums have to have an impressive cleaning record. The cleaning side quests in the first game and the Hare Club stuff in Champions helped fuel this.

Dino and Dina are fraternal twins! Dino even is Autistic and Dina has ADHD.

Vivosaur battles are really taught in school unlike much other monster collecting and battling games and other RPGs but rather it's treated much like a sport with scientific and historical roles as well. I much tend to think that Hunter and Rosie and other kids on Vivosaur Island are there since it's summer break. The Patrol Team each have their own reasons for getting to be at Caliosteo: Dina and Dino are home-schooled, Todd was able to tag along since he became friends with them for being home-schooled as well, Pauleen probably doesn't get public school and obviously ran off to join the tournament, and Rupert gets his schedule managed by someone else but he probably goes to a tight private school that's flexible with their students being absent for periods of time.

Frontier does make it canon that everything takes place on an Earth similar to our own with the same countries but I chose to believe France doesn't exist. That's Nomadistand now. They're separated far from other countries? Well I guess they have some wide rivers now for borders.

Vivosaurs can be kept as pets but there are many laws and risks that come with it. Smaller vivosaurs are easier to tame but larger ones are more challenging. They're treated much the same as exotic pets: Yeah, it's nice to own one, but it's not very safe.

Nevada and Joe have a rivalry going on that doesn't make much sense to everyone else but it does keep journalists busy whenever a fossil tourney is announced. Sean also ties into this but he's more of the mediator who was invited to eat pizza and watch a documentary with friends not sit awkwardly on the couch and watch as his two friends throw pillows at one another to try and counter-argument each other about the topics of the documentary.

Duna barely remembers much of her home planet but Raptin, being older, does. This is possibly why he was more enraged by Duna's betrayal.

I think Joe and Rupert should get therapy animals/vivosaurs after Champions to help with the body-stealing trauma. As a treat. Rupert should get a fluffy white great pyrenees dog named Antionette and Joe should get a nine-banded armadillo named Sundance.

Rosie gets really into fossil battles to the point she goes pro and that's why she's at Caliosteo. She eventually finds out she'd Bi and dates Duna in the future (Duna finds herself identifying as a lesbian).

^The whole romance thing was kind of just brought on due to the amount of thrilling moments with Hunter so both Rosie and Duna kind of fall out of romantic love with him but still have a tight bond that borders on family.

Hunter also eventually goes pro with fossil battling but prefers to travel more. Rosie and Duna eventually get a quiet house on Vivosaur Island together and Hunter also lives there when he's not traveling. :)

I think Holt and Todd should meet up and be friends. :)

Pauleen would get really into fashion design when she's older. She's mostly inspired by fire type vivosaurs.

Rupert takes over his dad's company and even learns to ride a motorcycle.

Todd gets into rogue vivosaur wrangling since he finally found his courage during the events of Champions. :)

Dina takes over the park and Todd is her secretary.

Dino gets to go pro at fossil battles since he was better at making strategies and vivosaur teams (Dina's top strategy is 'hit everything with sharp claws and teeth really fast') and he gets a lot of trophies. He also gets to be Rupert's boyfriend/partner. :)

Cole gets to go back to school and gets back into his robotic engineering degree (he failed to earn all of his credits the first time around and just decided to drop out since he didn't like his professors anyway). He eventually finds work at FossilDig and Caliosteo making cleaning devices. Sometimes, when he's mad, he threatens to make Five Nights at Freddy's real.

Lola has a harder time deciding to go back to school since she failed her medical science classes. It takes some encouragement and inspiration from Cole and Lester to help her along.

Lester tries to follow his dream of being a musician again and gets to form his own rock band! They call themselves the 'B-0NES' in tribute to the BB Brigade.

Joe Wildwest is gay. :)

Zongazonga's corpse is stuck in eternity as a tourist attraction.

Have you ever thought about Dinaurian lore?

Actually I have!! I've seen some headcannons floating on here with Dinurians messing with Guhnash's origins. I also think that they also traded with other aliens before they came to Earth since running a huge ship does take a certain amount of supplies to manage. Unsurprisingly, I choose to also believe that nearly every Dinurian can have a battle hologram.

I also think that white-hair can also be a sign of aging but those with white hair and pale skin are usually linked in some way to the royal bloodline that is King Dynal's. It's only Dynal who carries on the royal bloodline these days, however.

When I say 'big space ship' I mean big enough that the Dinurians have a safe gene pool for repopulation methods. It was probably initially made for the purpose of escaping their home planet months in advance since their methods of destroying Guhnash kept failing.

OK TIME TO EXPLAIN THE NEW JOE AU!

WARNING for talk of possessive behavior

I present...

The Corrupted! Joe AU

Ok the actual premise of this new au is that Joe's body holds residual dark magic from ZZ's possession of him, which basically poisons his brain, warping him, making him volatile and also highly possessive of those he cares about. It's as though it's putting him under a spell of sorts, kind of like what happened to Todd. At least this time he gets to stay in his own body...

The patrol team and bb brigade trio, whom he deeply cares about and views as his own kids, he is especially possessive of. He won't let them leave Caliosteo, their vivosaur medals are likely taken from them, as well as their access to the vmm machines. It probably gets to the point where he won't even let them leave Cranial Isle. Joe doesn't realize that what he's doing is overly controlling and scaring the kids. The magic has made him think that all this is genuinely necessary to keep them safe. Despite his overprotective/overbearing behavior he is still kind and caring towards them, and when they're with him, he's relatively calm and things can seem almost normal. Almost.

Joe has become VERY easy to anger too and anyone who dares to so much as look in the kids' general direction may be deemed a threat to their safety and thus risk being attacked or even killed by him. He never directs his anger toward the kids, however. At most he gets frustrated at them if they attempt to leave.

While Joe can't use the residual dark magic to cast spells (as far as anyone knows anyway) he has gained a boost to his physical strength and endurance. Scary scary stuff.

The whole au revolves around the staff leaders and Scatterly trying to find a way to get Joe back to normal while also trying to prevent him from hurting anyone, and that includes keeping the kids away from him for the time being.

This of course prompts an enraged Joe to hunt them down to get his flaplings back. Igno help them...

-Having Joe around to keep an eye on them means that they're less prone to causing trouble, but also they want to please him, and if he doesn't want them to cause trouble, they'll try not to go overboard with their shenanigans (mostly)

-If there's loud music being blared at 3 am that all of Caliosteo can hear it's definitely because of them (read: because of Lester).

-Cole is big into fashion, and so he spends a lot of his time trying out makeup, new outfits, and then subjecting other people to that. He wants victims test subjects to try out his fashion stuff on. He's also probably a cosplayer and spends a lot of time into making intricate and genuinely well-made costumes.

-We know Lester participates in eating contests, that's just canon, and he's damn good at it. I don't think anyone in Caliosteo (who isn't a vivosaur) can eat as much as he does. Dina genuinely thinks that this is amazing and really cool of him. If food goes missing its usually either Lester or Dina who did it.

-Lester collects a ton of merch for different bands, and he keeps said merch in pristine condition and knows where he keeps every little thing. Do NOT take or touch his band merch, or you will P A Y.

-Lester helps the staff out with heavy-lifting sometimes.

-Lola probably smokes weed.

-Lola has a massive sweet tooth, and you could probably bribe her with candy. The sweeter the treat, the better. Since she's always chewing bubblegum it's probably a favorite of hers.

-The trio sometimes crash fossil tournaments or cause trouble by letting their boneysaurs run amok when they're really bored, and it always ends with the patrol team playing hero and Joe confronting them about it later.

-Since Lola has the braincell between the three of them, any plans where they coordinate to cause trouble is almost always her fault.

-The commanders love to play pranks on the staff, typically harmless ones. One of Lola's favorites is drawings on people's faces when they sleep. She has done this to Joe. She got caught lmao.

-Cole secretly likes nightcore. Don't tell anyone.

-Petty fossil battles between commander and patrol team member are common. If Dina is involved, it might end in someone getting bit. Cole is slightly afraid of Dina because he's been bitten (and thrashed in fossil battles) the most.

Ok Zesty thanks for letting me try to help. Lemme see normal question. On the weekends what do everyone in Caliosteo do with their free time? For me I sleep a lot, I eat a lot and I play games a lot! Aside from normal ff character things like digging, reviving vivosaurs, and battling...

The patrol team will do things like play video games, maybe board games if they are bored enough or if there's bad weather. They'll fuck around online, help the staff with the park if needed, trying each other's hobbies, stuff like that. They might travel outside of Caliosteo if they get the chance, maybe going to movies, going shopping, and attending concerts or conventions that they are interested in. Dina is the queen of shenanigans, and a lot of the patrol team's wacky weekend adventures are the result of something Dina said or did.

The BB Brigade would be doing stuff like trying new makeup, shopping for (or making) new outfits, Lester's practicing his music, probably hosting concerts of his own. Like the Patrol Team, they'll travel to concerts and conventions when they can. They'll also help out staff when asked. They do still love causing trouble, though, and when pranks are being pulled or people are being menaced by boneysaurs, Joe knows he's gotta go round them up.

Joe and the staff leaders work hard to manage Caliosteo, even on the weekends. When they aren't busy, the staff leaders will hang out together or get much needed rest. Joe might go on flights with Ptera, but usually hes just dealing with the park and his patrol team/bb brigade. He never just relaxes when he should, much to the annoyance of everyone around him.

Hiya!!

First- The Injured Joe part:

 Joe got injured during a rogue vivosaur problem gone wrong. I don’t have all the details down just yet but it was a carnivorous ambush vivosaur that was able to surprise him and his team. He was knocked out after being previously wounded but his team was able to get the rogue vivosaur to white out back into its medallion form and get help. Unfortunately, he lost an eye, has scars on the left side of his body, and has a limp in his left leg. Fortunately! He is still alive and wasn’t too let down by this (he even told Mags that ‘now they match’ since they have ‘‘similar’’ scars now. this earned him a soft punch to his good arm.) and thinks the scars make him look cooler.

Second- Patrol Team. Where are they now:

 Dina ended up taking over the Caliosteo Fossil Park and Dino became her secretary (only in name, she considers her twin a co-owner since they do equal amounts of work). I still haven’t nailed down what Pauleen and Rupert would be but I think Pauleen would be interested in fashion design and Rupert would try to take over his father’s company and uphold the enjoyment of his customers and employees. Todd would most likely become the Fossil Park’s newest ‘champion’ maybe if he’s not interested in also rounding up rogue vivosaurs (Dina would also take up the mantle of Joe’s old side gig of rogue vivosaur rescues but I’m still undetermined if Dina would be more into it or Todd would).

Hopefully these answer some question. I haven’t thought more about it but I do hope to get more details down one day!

Alright this is part 1 of the new joe au I made

Yea he got fucked up, just not in the way he expected.

The breme ambushed him, leaping onto his shoulders and gripping him tightly with its claws. The vivosaur managed to pin joe down and seemed to grin at him as it slowly lowered its muzzle towards his exposed neck and then carefully sunk its fangs in. Joe had expected to be killed then and there because this unusually strong breme did not budge when he attempted to dislodge it, but to his surprise the breme actually let go, jumping off him and opting to stare at him instead of immediately fleeing. joe took the opportunity to subdue it with ptera before it could run off. Joe thought that would be the end of it.

The cowboy may have won the battle but that breme won the war...

Once he gets back to Caliosteo hes fine at first, but a day later and he's in the suite bundled up in blankets feeling positively awful. He's very achy, feverish, and his mouth feels like it's on fire. Now years of adventuring and dealing with vivosaurs have made Joe's immune system pretty strong, so he doesn't get sick very easily. But this, whatever this is, seems pretty bad, so after a rather unhelpful trip to the doctor (couldn't give him a diagnosis, so he was just given a fever reducer and pain meds and told to get plenty of rest) joe holes himself up in his tower and tells his staff that he will not be seeing anyone until he's better.

Everyone thinks he must be really sick. The bb brigade and patrol team are busy making cards and getting flowers and just doing everything they can think of that could cheer joe up. What none of them realize is that joe is in fact not sick anymore. He was sick for like 2 days and he's been in his tower for almost a week.

One may think 'oh he's fine,' but uhm...

No the fuck he isn't

He's changed

And he's panicking

He woke up one morning feeling remarkably better, but he felt off somehow, and when he looked in the mirror the being looking back at him looked less like a man and more like a monster.

Pointed ears, very sharp teeth with elongated canines, and glowing red pupils. Hell, his tongue was forked now, and as he quickly finds out, totally prehensile.

This is all very concerning, he did NOT look like this yesterday. Also he finds it highly suspicious that this little transformation happens directly after he's sick, and begins to think the two are linked. Then he thinks about how he only got sick after that breme bit him, heck, he's got fangs that look an awful lot like a breme's fangs. Seems pretty sus to him.

Ok so obviously this all is more than enough to make joe panic, but that's not what keeps him in his tower.

That would be the blood cravings.

Joe is still shocked and confused over his new look, but then he gets this urge, the urge to sink his fangs into someone and suck them of all their blood. Obviously he is NOT happy about that. Eating regular food does not make the craving go away, and the urge is only getting stronger and stronger. It scares him. He's just glad that no one's around to see him like this.

Then the staff leaders decide they need to check up on him and Terry goes up to his suite.

When he steps out of the elevator, Joe is standing there with a look that Terry can't quite place. Not that he has very long to actually think about it, because Joe barrels into him and digs his fangs into Terry's neck and begins to drain him.

Terry thrashes to get the cowboy off, and manages to dislodge him after a good kick to the chest. Joe stumbles back and when he locks eyes with Terry, his expression shifts from raw hunger to confusion and then when the realization hits him, terror.

Terry meanwhile, with one hand holding a bit of his neck gear over the bite to slow the bleeding, stumbles towards the elevator. Joe calls out to him, apologizing profusely and trying desperately to get Terry to let him help. Terry however just wants to get away, but Joe follows him into the elevator.

In the elevator they just stand there, Terry glaring at Joe with a look of pure betrayal and confusion, and Joe looking like a kicked puppy while trying his best to explain that he had no idea what came over him and that he didn't mean to hurt him.

"Then what the hell was that all about? Joe, you bit me and from what I could tell, tried to SUCK THE BLOOD OUT OF ME."

"I uh... might be... what ya call... a vampire now????"

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

Joe explains what's really been happening while he takes Terry to the hospital, ignoring the strange looks other people are giving them, and that Terry showed up at a really bad time.

He forgives Joe, but tells him that he has to tell people, his appearance cannot be easily hidden. His fangs stick out, his pupils fucking glow red, and his ears are long and pointed. Oh yeah, and he CRAVES. BLOOD. Everyone else is gonna find out eventually, and it won't take the bb brigade and patrol team more than 5 seconds to realize.

Terry is quickly patched up by doctors. His wounds aren't actually that deep and aside from the blood loss, he's pretty much fine. Joe is giving him as much vacation time as he wants, and if Terry needs anything, Joe will help him. Terry doesn't think all that is necessary, he just wants to tell everyone what happened and then go back to managing Cranial Isle.

So later on that day the bb brigade trio and the patrol team are summoned to Joe's suite (since Joe did manage to suck quite a bit of blood from Terry, the craving is gone for now and everyone figures its safe to let the kids be near him now). The staff leaders, Scatterly, and Joe are there, and, just like Terry predicted, it took the kids approximately 5 seconds to realize something was very wrong with Joe. They all thought they were summoned so Joe could tell them that he was ok, he was better now, and that there was no need to worry, but taking one look at him and they realize that probably wasn't the case. Lola picks up on his vampiric traits first.

"Whoaaaa Joe, what happened to you? We thought you were sick, but you look like you took a trip to Transylvania or something."

"....ehehe.... ya could say that..."

Then the truth dawns on them all and Dina's like "Wait are you actually a vampire???"

"...yes?"

"..."

"BITE ME. BITE ME RIGHT NOW. I WANNA BE A VAMPIRE I WANNA BE VAMPIRE!!!"

"No, Dina. No ya don't. It ain't fun, it ain't cool. Besides, I don't wanna bite any of ya, and I don't know if simply bitin' someone will actually turn them."

So while Dina sulks because Joe (responsibly) won't make her a vampire, Rupert's like "ok but what about the whole drinking blood thing vampires do. Is that a concern here or...?"

Terry shows him the bite mark and everyone turns to stare at Joe.

Joe, guilty and embarrassed as hell, tries to explain that yes, its a big heckin concern and that he might attack people like he attacked Terry if the craving isn't dealt with. Stella suggests animal blood as a substitute, and if that doesn't work, to maybe ask a blood bank for extra human blood. Joe doesn't care what the solution is as long as it doesn't involve him being forced to kill people (also he doesn't mention the Breme that bit him, he figures he'll deal with that later). He promises he'll try his best to restrain himself but he can't guarantee anyone's safety. Seeing Terry's bite mark, everyone is hesitant to trust him but the kids are the quickest to put their faith in the vampire cowboy, and that they are willing to take that risk. They refuse to treat their friend dad like a monster and Joe is so very grateful for that (and slightly concerned that they would risk being possibly bitten by him).

The staff leaders, especially Terry, are wary of him, but they want to help their boss so they're gonna do their best to help Joe keep the blood cravings under control.

Scatterly has read up on tons of legendary creatures, including vampires, so he wants to compare vampires of myth to Joe, because "My goodness, vampires are real now!" And he wants to make a journal detailing what a real vampire is like and maybe even publish his findings for others to see. Joe agrees to help him with this, but he isn't keen on any of Scatterly's findings being published. Scatterly understands, documenting a real vampire is already a treat in of itself.

And oh boy, is Joe a real treat of a vampire.
