( CATHERINE ZETA-JONES. FIFTY-TWO. CIS WOMAN. SHE/HER. ) since you aren’t aware of them yet… that’s ( MIRANDA GRAVES ) wandering around in hollow creek! from what i know they’ve lived in hollow creek for ( 25 YEARS. )  i’m also aware of the fact that they work as a ( CRISIS MANAGER. ) in town! but if you were to ask me, what i see when i think about them are: ( AN AIR OF SARCASM WITH EVERY WORD, COLD HANDS AND AN EVEN COLDER HEART, FRESH MANICURES, THINKING BEFORE ACTING. ) if anything, i feel like they could be ( ASSERTIVE, DIPLOMATIC, VAIN, MANIPULATIVE. ) it’s really weird, though… because they seem to be hiding something that no one else knows. but i sure do! and that is ( REDACTED ). wild, huh? i know. they’re hoping no one will ever find out. and the very last thing that i’d say about them is that they’re mainly known to be ( THE FIXER. ) just keep a lookout! who knows if they’re putting on a facade!
STATS
full name: miranda carissa graves   hometown: huntington beach, ca   sexuality: bisexual  birthday: april 12, 1972   zodiac: aries sun, aries moon, taurus rising  height: 5’7”  languages spoken: english, french, spanish marital status: married children: two  traits: assertive, diplomatic, persuasive, vain, manipulative, vindictive
BACKGROUND
born into a show business family — her father was a director and her mother a screenwriter — miranda knew from a young age that she was not destined for the same life; she has one younger brother and he works in show business too
was always the top of her class, excelling in all her academic pursuits; she was president of the debate team in high school and ran the school yearbook committee like it was the goddamn navy
she got into every college she applied to and decided to stay in california and attend stanford; she obviously was incredible there, but always knew she was destined for the east coast
she got into a graduate program at rrinceton and shipped out and she has lived on this side of the country since
she met her husband while at princeton, he is from a powerful political family and they just Made Sense; they got married while she was still in school and she kept her last name, not wanting anyone to think she used her husband’s political connections to build her career (no nepo wife allegations !! only nepo baby ones !!)
they moved to massachusetts (her husband's home state, very kennedy of him) had two children (wc on main xx) while miranda was building her career as a crisis manager, working for some of the most powerful people in the massachusetts political world
though they have a home in hollow creek, miranda split her time between there and boston so that she was closer to Important Government Matters and would probably be considered a largely absent mother <33
now she mostly works from hollow creek, doing a bunch of behind the scenes, ABC scandal-esque work for Important People
PERSONALITY
mean; listen, she’s VERY charming in her work life and can turn on a sly, sweet side at the drop of a hat, but in her personal life? generally Not very nice! you do not want to be on her bad side
only loyal to those important to her career and her family — would do Anything for her family, but will not be keeping a promise to anyone else
despite having loyalty to her children, not a particularly good mother; she has a generally distant relationship with them as she’s always put her career first and she has always had very high expectations for them as she and her husband are both very high-achieving
will do anything it takes to pull off her job, not criminally involved personally because that could come out and Look Bad, but she is extremely morally grey and is not really concerned with who she has to destroy to move forward
is close to approximately 4 people, does not like to let anyone too far into her life or know too much about her

Excerpt from this Smithsonian story:
Several hundred starving, sick or injured brown pelicans have turned up on beaches throughout California over the past few weeks, with wildlife officials still unable to pinpoint the cause of what they are calling a “crisis.”
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), along with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and other non-governmental partners, have been working to collect and rehabilitate the birds, many of which are anemic, dehydrated and underweight.
“They’re in really poor physical shape. They’re starving, and they haven’t gotten enough nutrition,” Russ Curtis, a spokesperson for the nonprofit organization International Bird Rescue, which is helping in the rescue efforts, tells KQED’s Annelise Finney.
“When there’s not the fishing stock that they can find, they take chances around fishing piers and fishing boats and places where there are people with fishing tackle,” Curtis says, explaining that some pelicans have been hurt by fishing hooks and lines they encounter near the shore.
As of this week, the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center (WWCC) in Huntington Beach and Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network have admitted more than 100 pelicans each, while International Bird Rescue has taken 260 pelicans into its two California facilities—one in Los Angeles County, and one in the San Francisco Bay Area, reports Cheri Carlson of the Ventura County Star.
Other birds have been found dead on beaches. Necropsies have revealed starvation as their cause of death, which has puzzled scientists. Populations of fish that pelican forage, by all accounts, remain abundant off the Pacific coast.
We also know that there’s supposedly plenty of anchovies and their food out there in the ocean, so we don’t really know why they are not able to forage yet,” Debbie McGuire, executive director of the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center, tells Eugene Garcia of theAssociated Press.
Brown pelicans are known to spend their non-breeding months throughout the entirety of the state’s coastline, and the sick birds have been found in a variety of locations. In northern California, most birds have been rescued around Monterey and Santa Cruz, while those in southern California have been found by officials in a variety of traditional and non-traditional habitats. Two dozen pelicans were found on Newport Beach and dozens more were picked up around Huntington Beach—but sick birds have also been identified in a lake at SoFi stadium, the home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, and at a Malibu fire station, the Guardian’sDani Anguiano reports. In rescue efforts, the first step is to support the birds with warmth. “The great news is the vast majority are recovering if we can get them through those first couple of critical hours of hypothermia,” Elizabeth Wood, the WWCC’s veterinarian and medical director, says in a video posted to Facebook.

A deep-sea creature steeped in folklore has once again washed ashore in California.
On Nov. 6, a researcher on an Encinitas beach spotted an oarfish, measuring 9 to 10 feet long. The fish typically swim at depths of 300 to 3,000 feet and are rarely seen on the surface. Yet it was the third time one has appeared in Southern California since August.
They have been associated with bad omens, according to English-language accounts of Japanese folklore.
The fish, which can grow to 30 feet in length and feed on krill, have typically washed up on beaches when injured or disoriented, according to scientists.
The current group of oarfish washing ashore "may have to do with changes in ocean conditions and increased numbers of oarfish off our coast," Ben Frable, manager of the Scripps Oceanography Marine Vertebrate Collection at UC San Diego, said in a statement. "Many researchers have suggested this as to why deep-water fish strand on beaches. Sometimes it may be linked to broader shifts such as the El Niño and La Niña cycle but this is not always the case," he said, adding that many variables could be the cause.
The previous fish were discovered in Huntington Beach in September and in La Jolla in August, according to Scripps. Before August's discovery, scientists had only recorded 19 oarfish that had washed up on the California coast since 1901, the oceanography researchers said.
Fish and muddled folklore
Oarfish have been found around the globe, but one particular country's history with the fish has gathered the most attention: Japan.
According to some media reports, oarfish have been associated in Japanese folklore with prophesies of doom — in particular, earthquakes.
Researchers in Japan looked into this in 2019: "In Japan, folklore says that uncommon appearances of deep‐sea fish are an earthquake precursor. If this folklore is proved to be true, the appearance of deep‐sea fish could be useful information for disaster mitigation," a group from Tokai University and the University of Shizuoka wrote. But they scoured news reports of deep-sea fish washing up and determined that there wasn't much of a relationship between those sightings and earthquakes.
Some accounts say the oarfish were known in centuries past as ryugu no tsukai, roughly translating to a "messenger from the Dragon Palace."
Yoshiko Okuyama, a professor of Japanese studies at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, pointed to a Japanese fairy tale with source text dating back to the 8th century. It tells the story of a fisherman named Urashima Taro who, in return for saving a turtle, is taken to the underwater palace of the Dragon King, Ryugu-jo.
"In Japan several different sea creatures have been called the Messenger of the Dragon Palace. The list includes eels and turtles," she said in an email. Adding oarfish to that list was "plausible — anything mysterious from the sea can be imagined as such, right?" but she said she was unable to immediately verify it with source material.
A database of Japanese folklore describes ryugu no tsukai as "large fish with human heads, horns, long hair, and sometimes beards." In a retelling of a legend on the folklore database, the creatures were a bit of a mixed bag. They foretold of death and disease, but said people would be saved so long as they "hear my message."

Summers can be busy, especially in popular beach towns, while winter brings the possibility of dramatic storm-watching scenes.
Pack Essentials for the Drive
Ensure your road trip is smooth by packing essentials. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfortable clothing are a must, as are your camera and binoculars for wildlife watching. Plan your accommodations in advance, especially during peak seasons, to secure the best beachfront stays.
Embrace Spontaneity
While it's essential to plan key stops and accommodations, leave room for spontaneity. Some of the best experiences on this coastal journey may come from impromptu detours to hidden beaches or roadside attractions. Embrace the freedom of the open road.
Conclusion
In conclusion, road tripping through California's coastal paradise is a journey that transcends the ordinary. From the misty cliffs of Big Sur to the sandy shores of Santa Monica, every mile is a brushstroke in a masterpiece of nature. As a seasoned traveler, I can attest that this coastal symphony of beaches, surf, and sunsets is an ode to the soul-stirring beauty of California's coastline. Love explaining this. I’m not a part of a group chat but I do live in Huntington Beach and the sports culture in California is completely different than on the east coast. We have interns, personal assistants and other people who sell out all types of gossip on the daily. I know things about LA Kings players that I shouldn’t know because they have people who talk to other people and it gets back to regular people.
